This book is a MUST for anyone pursuing peace in their life........2007-03-06
I have to say that besides the Bible, this book changed my life. This book defines in a way that is easy to understand and grasp how much Jesus loves us and the truth about who we are to Him.
This book helps you to understand the lie that satan wants us to believe. That our self esteem equals our performance and other people's opinion. Understanding this lie really changed my life.
In addition, the book gives you prayers to memorize in times of the enemy challenging your thinking and behavior. How to not fear rejection, how to overcome the fear of not meeting people's approval. I recommend this book to anyone who is ready to get this burden off their back. The burden of having everyone else's expectations rule your life. Get your freedom back by really understanding, in depth, how much God loves you and get back the peace in your life that you've been missing. I love this book!!!!! A++++++++++++
This book changed my life.......2007-01-23
This is a very inspiring book. Some of us are in bad relationships and we need to know that we do have value and can improve our life simply by understanding that we have value already. This book shows you how to understand that and apply it to your life.
Excellent book for spiritual growth.......2007-01-10
My husband and I are reading it together. I is helping us see the roots of our disagreements. It is helping us be more kind and understanding with one another.
Really Good!.......2007-01-03
This book really makes you take a second look at yourself. Parts of it are almost too in-depth for me, but I still would recommend the book. It would be a great book to study. Lots of knowledge to be gained!
An excellent resource.......2006-08-30
I read this book some years ago. I had been a Christian 6 years at that time, but its contents were earth-shattering. It woke me up to some of the basic truths of the application of Jesus Christ and His word in my life. It opened my eyes to lies I had believed that had literally tormented me for some years. It helped lay a very strong foundation of self-worth and of freedom, and as I now serve God in full time ministry I still draw on the truths that were so powerfully imprinted on my soul through reading the book. Like Billy Graham, I believe every Christian should read this book.

Interesting story idea, poor execution.......2007-10-14
I enjoy paranormal suspense and romance books, so I picked this one up, after a recommendation from Amazon's system (and for the most part the reviews looked decent).
The story line is interesting. Tieran sees visions, doesn't see her own mate heading for her, and thinks his brother might be killing people. Cool premise.
The execution was bad. The writing itself was very poor, in most places. Deliberately crude and unfortunately not provocative. It came across as cheap, uninteresting porn for the most part. (I don't mind erotica - check out Morgan Hawke, for example, for an author who tells a great story with a lot of spice or JR Ward for great paranormal romance).
This book is not only not going on my keeper shelf, it's not even worth giving away. I'm tossing it. Don't waste your money.
Loved it!.......2007-08-30
I just love a good werewolf romance. This book through me a curve ball. I thought I had the villain unmasked within a few pages and thought this sucks and it was going downhill from there. I kept with it and fell in love with the main characters. I was rooting for them. The "dead" grandma was enjoyable.
I'm getting the twin brother's story next.
Wolves on patrol.......2007-08-17
This story is different to other wolf/psychic romances. There is plenty of humour and sex in with the romance. The violence is'nt too bad, and I liked the heroine's attitude.
Thrilling and Passionate.......2007-07-09
This review originally posted at [...].
Tieran Jones is a psychic who has given up on men because of their lack of understanding when it comes to her gift. Caelan Graham is a shape shifter on the hunt for someone who kills female mates. Caelan is Prime and, as such, it is his duty to protect the entire pack.
Luckily for his pack, Caelan does not have a mate of his own to protect while searching for the killer. However, upon meeting Tieran, that all changes. Caelan's nose tells him that he has most assuredly found his mate. Caelan inflames Tieran's passion, sets off a grisly vision of a wolf attack, and somehow ends up in her bed in his wolf form. On top of everything else, Caelan insists that she is his mate.
Tieran's horrific visions continue and evolve as do the attacks on female mates. Although there is no physical evidence tying him to the crimes, Caelan's twin brother becomes the prime suspect based on Tieran's visions. Now Caelan must rely upon Tieran's gift to solve the mystery, one way or the other. But will Tieran survive the investigation as she becomes the prime target of a killer?
Seeing Eye Mate is the first of Annmarie McKenna's work that I've read. It is only her second published work but the writing is extremely professional and comparable to authors with many more published books. With the many twists to the story, this mystery is not easily solved and will keep the reader riveted to their seat until the final scene unfolds.
With this intriguing mystery as backdrop, the love story develops between strong alpha-male Caelan and his mate Tieran in satisfying and often unexpected manners. Caelan is a sensual and dominant male whose mate challenges him in some of the most tantalizing ways. This is a couple perfect for one another with a passion that sets the computer screen on fire.
After reading Seeing Eye Mate, I am sure that Annmarie McKenna is just beginning a long, and hopefully prolific, career in the publishing industry, with her readers and fans being the beneficiaries of that career.

loved this book/ would really like to see or read about a couple of gay/lesbian wolves from this author.
Book Description
Both a document and a handbook The Art of Seeing records Aldous Huxley's victory over near-blindness and details the simple exercises anyone can follow to improve eyesight. Using the method devised by Dr. W. H. Bates, "the pioneer of visual education," as Huxley called him, and heeding the advice of Dr. Bates' disciple, Margaret D. Corbett, Aldous Huxley conquered a vision problem that had plagued him for more than a quarter century.

Save your eyes - read this book.......2007-09-21
I read this book twenty years ago when my eyesight was good. Twenty years on, still no glasses.
As a programmer looking at a screen all day, that's not too bad. My whole family (Sister & both parents) wear glasses.
Whenever my eyes start feeling weak, I refresh myself with the "art of seeing correctly" & continue a life without any form of optical crutches.
The instructions are sensible & practical.
Whatever you do, avoid the downward spiral of artificial vision correction. Think about it, how can you strengthen a mans legs in a wheel chair?
Instead, buy this book. Cheaper than glasses!
Try this first.......2006-07-05
I read this book with skepticism, I did the exercises with skepticism, and I watched my prescription go from -2.25 to -1.25 in three months. Not bad for a method that "doesn't work" according to the people who sell me glasses, contacts and laser surgery. I highly recommend anyone considering laser surgery to atleast check this out first. Someone please republish this book.
As easy as breathing.......2006-06-18
Fronm the age of 8 I was wearing spectacles (which I hated so much) until I visited my friend's art studio and left my glasses on the table. Recognizing it I feld in panic. I called up my friend to find out when I can pick up my glasses. I was shocked by my friend's reply that I don't need any glassesand, that I am addicted to them like a junke to his drug. Nevertheless I was invited to pick them up any time I wanted. So I went there again and my friend along with my glasses gave me a book to read and to think about it. The book was Aldous Huxley's "The Art of Seeing." I simply followed the footsteps of Huxley and ever since I have told "SAYONARA" to my glasses. I was so happy that the method works that i shared my joy with my occulist, who was also my friend. He insisted that the method doesn't work. Upon checking my sight he stated that I'm an exeption. When I was about to elaborate more on what I did he said to me that he doesn't wan't to hear it. He said that he has wife and kids and he has to make a living. He showed me the door and that was the last time I saw him. I've lost a friend and won back my eyes. No regrets. The method is so important because one by improving his eyesight is improving his mind. And the mind is responsible for the function of the entire universe of the body. And so on and so forth. If I can recommend anything I am recommending this little wonderful BOOK.
This really works!.......2005-06-13
I read this book 10 years ago and I freaked out my eye doctor when I wnet back a year later and went from a -2.25 in each eye to a -0.75 in each eye. Not perfect, but close to it. He asked what happened and I told him about the book. He said that the shape of my eye had changed and was wondering where I found the book. I told him a used book store, because it was not republished at the time. I am glad it is now. You have to have patience, but it really does work! Good Luck!

Book Description
"When our gaze awakens to the gaze of God, we have started to see. Seeing clearly, we can love well."
Seeing with New Eyes is collection of essays written over almost twenty years by a respected biblical counselor. David Powlison's articles are Bible exposition, topical essay, editorial, and sermon. All of them show God's gracious self-revelation in Jesus Christ and Scripture.
"We learn to see how God sees," writes Powlison. "Learning the gaze of God, we come to weigh life aright. We discern good and evil, fair and foul, lovely and degraded. We become able to pry apart true from false, instead of living in a murk of half-truths and flat lies."
This book explores two main topics.
- Scripture: God's voice speaks into real life to reveal the gaze and intentions of the Christ who pursues us. How do we embrace, probe, and unravel Scripture?
- Understanding people amid their real life struggles: How do we embrace, probe, and unravel the problems of daily life?
We learn how to see many of life's struggles through the lens of Scripture, including
- Worry
- Victimization
- Love languages
- Biological Psychiatry
Powlison encourages readers to "think Christianly" by thinking God's thoughts after him. He asks, "Does God have a take on counseling? Of course, yes, amen." This book seeks to listen, look, and think hard within the patterns of God's gaze.
God has the real take on things. And God teaches us his gaze!

Good Expository Perspective on Counseling.......2007-07-03
Powlison provides a solid analytical expository perspective on counseling that is helpful and insightful. I personally found the last 200 pages much more motivating than the first 58 pages. His exposition of Ephesians 5:21 through 6:9, several Psalms, and Luke 12:22-34 is excellent. Similarly, his annotated list of X-ray questions (chapter 7) is the best I have seen. His biblical analysis of defense mechanisms is extremely helpful as are his chapters on "Love Speaks Many Languages Fluently" and "Biological Psychiatry". To write this book Mr. Powlison patched together a series of articles that he had previously authored. Unfortunately, his book ends up coming across as just that, a patchwork of articles that lack a uniform purpose other than the general theme of Biblical Counseling. If you have an interest in two or three of the topics I have highlighted this book is probably well worth the purchase.
See others and yourself with new eyes..........2006-08-01
The title really says it all with this book: we really do need to see ourselves and others with new eyes, with both an accurate paradigm and with individual insight that can only come from Scripture. In this challenging book Dr. David Powlison examines how our "old eyes" tend to see, both through our natural fallen selves and through the warped and inadequate psychological theories that permeate our current cultural (and often "Christian") milleau.
The book speaks to both the reader's personal walk with God and to how we can accurately see and minister to others. Each chapter is on a specific theme, from comfort to worry to God's love to "defense mechanisms." In each Dr. Powlison shares warm and rich insights that are both Scriptural and practical. There are dozens of quotable passages to deeply think through, such as:
Many of the people we counsel live inside a black hole of self-will, misery, and confusion. They need God to break in on their shadowland from which sin has erased the light of the personal and living God.
Seeing With New Eyes is a volume to read, and read again, to fully absorb its God-saturated wisdom and to be changed by it.
Great Introduction to Counseling and Discipling.......2006-06-18
Is theology practical? What does a dusty book of letters to early Christians have to do with my life today? Does anyone really think sin exists? Can't science explain mental illnesses, and provide medications for them? These are questions that provoked David Powlison to write Seeing with New Eyes: Counseling and the Human Condition Through the Lens of Scripture. As a Christian counselor for almost 20 years, Powlison is (thankfully) finally getting around to a structured explanation of his approach to counseling. Seeing with New Eyes is a collection of essays, speeches, sermons, and other materials, all related to the underpinnings of distinctively Christian counseling: What is the point of counseling? What ideas are authoritative? What methods do we use? How do we read Scripture? How do people work? What happens when people don't get "fixed?" What place should psychology and psychiatry hold? Can we rule out physical causes?
Fundamentally, Christians start with the Word of God, revealed in the Holy Scriptures. Instead of merely adopting a secular psychological framework or other vocabulary, Powlison makes the excellent point that Christians must not stop at vocabulary. The phenomena we call "projection" and "denial" are far more spiritual than secular psychologists acknowledge. In other words, the secular psychologist cannot, or will not, penetrate deeper than descriptive terminology. The Christian counselor, by contrast, has the resources to breach the walls of the heart itself.
Relying on God's inspired Word, the Christian counselor can probe and examine the counselee's heart with the sharpest probing blade ever devised. The Word of God, living and active, can prick the conscience of even the hardest heart, and by the grace of God, turn sinners toward the source of all life. This is the foundation of Christian counseling, and Powlison is unambiguous about using it as the foundation. Under this approach, then, "compensation" is simply a means of covering failures with successes instead of actually facing problems. "Inversions" are just a way to whitewash reality and perpetuate lies. "Displacement" becomes simple scapegoating. The secular framework agrees with these descriptions, but it prefers to avoid the moral aspect entirely, using only the clinical label. That approach allows both counselor and counselee to avoid addressing the uncomfortable issue of sin.
Under Powlison's theological-moral framework, the root of all counseling problems is sin, as it expresses itself through the multifacted prism of the human spirit. The counseling approach, then, starts with a correct diagnosis, which involves labelling the particular sins at issue. Again, this is not something that secular psychologists can do because they have no adequate moral framework to address these questions. Even Christian counselors frequently fail to assert a moral framework (Powlison tackles the 5 Love Languages phenomenon in Chapter 14, and infers a counseling framework used in another case study in Chapter 12). Sin lives in us. We are not neutral, passive beings who have desires "caused" in us or "instilled" - we are moral, active choosers who react to things around us in sinful ways (because sin lives in us). The most refreshing thing about this approach is that it is nothing new. It is reminiscent of Augustine's Confessions approach, and Bunyan's Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners.
Primarily, we want. We are creatures that command, crave, desire, and demand. These are the targets that Powlison puts at the bulls-eye. If you figure out why you do something, you have figured out what you want. If you figure out what you want, you then figure out why it is sinful. There are several ways that we can sinfully want something: misplaced wants, disproportionate wants, or evil wants. The key to counseling well, in addition to living well as a Christian, is to find the idols we have set before our hearts, and crucify them. Instead of catering to felt needs, examine them under the bright light of Scripture, put them in their proper proportion and place, and keep them from becoming idols.
At the very end of the book, as a tantalizing glimpse of future work (I hope), we get a taste of how Christian counselors should think about physical causes. It is far too easy to medicate, especially now that drug companies prefer antidepressants to talking (hmmm, interesting possible tangent here), but the counselor must not rule out the possibility of physical factors. Powlison is happy to acknowledge the possibility of physical factors, but thinks that such problems are mixed questions of sin and physiology.
Finally, I wasn't quite comfortable with Powlison's approach to the Psalms - since he's strictly a Covenant Theology guy, and thinks that the Church is just Israel Redux, he said that we can pray the Psalms ourselves, without modification. Since I disagree with that statement of the Church's relationship to Israel, I can't give unqualified agreement. However, since God does not change, even though his people have changed, there are many ways we can pray and sing the Psalms, provided we do the necessary redemptive-historical legwork to get us "out" of Old Testament Israel and into the New Covenant.
Read this book if you want to learn how to better serve your brothers and sisters in Christ as you advise and disciple. It will provide a deep foundation, rooted in the Word of God, for the growth of Christ's Body.

People, Problems, and Solutions.......2005-09-18
"Seeing with New Eyes" is the first volume in Powlison's proposed three-volume set on Christian counseling. This first volume he sees as providing the theological foundation for understanding psychological issues from a spiritual, biblical perspective.
The "new eyes" are the eyes enlightened by faith in Christ and restored to sight by confidence in the sufficiency of Scripture to explain life and relationships. "Seeing with New Eyes" offers a theological-intellectual defense of "Nouthetic Counseling" as a biblical counseling model seeking to understand truth about God and humanity through God's eyes as revealed in Scripture.
It is an excellent introduction by perhaps the leading theologian in the Nouthetic Counseling movement. However, the book is also a compilation of many previous articles by the author. Thus at times it reads more as a string of excellent artilces than a tightly woven and thematically consistent book. That aside, Powlison is to be commended for his articulate explanation of the human condition through the lens of Scripture.
Reviewer: Bob Kellemen, Ph.D., is the author of "Soul Physicians," "Spiritual Friends," and the forthcoming "Beyond the Suffering: The Story of African American Soul Care and Spiritual Direction."
A Different Perspective on Soul Care.......2004-10-25
This book is an effort to bridge psychology of counseling with "moral-spiritual" issues (249). Powlison believes that "sinners sin instinctively," and though external factors such as having a dysfunctional family or experiencing childhood abuse can contribute to sinful desires or actions in adulthood, his contention is that "sin is its own final reason" (206). People have sinful thoughts or do sinful acts because they are focused on themselves rather than God (230).
Powlison points out that "secular psychology" views "human problems" simply as "things that are not working right," this is because the Bible was not utilized to understand the core issue of all humans, which is their "alienation from God" (192). He explains that if sin is seen as a "willed action" then "complex inner troubles" will be classified under "other categories" (194). In fact, psychiatrists will not explain that a paranoid schizophrenic is yielding to sin, but rather he or she is experiencing a psychosis. Powlison states that paranoid schizophrenia is a "defensive behavior" and actually refers to it as the personification of "powerful unconscious defensiveness" (193). Powlison explains that the underlying issues for schizophrenics are pride and "hiding" (195).
Powlison admits that biblical counselors are seen as "bizarre spiritualizers" because they rely on God, repentance, and faith as their main focus in counseling (251). He speculated that the premise of Jay Adams (the founder of Nouthetic counseling movement) was not fully understood when he said, "to be feeling-oriented is the central motivational problem in people" (215). Powlison believes that the problem with current counseling practices is that the counselor is seen as "primary" while God (if He is even considered at all in the process) is usually "secondary" (178).
This book has helped me to understand the stance of Nouthetic counselors, and to comprehend the reason why they say sin is the core issue of human disorders. However, I did not get a clear indication of Powlison's position regarding psychotropic medications. Powlison's perspective on counseling is a good start in the right direction, but his book does not outline the direction. There is something missing. To counter society's view of biblical counselors as "bizarre spiritualizers," Powlison suggests, "We have work to do to protect and build up the body of Christ" (251). This is not a solution-it is merely a generalized statement. In order for others to see biblical counselors as competent practitioners, they need to find a way to truly bridge the gap between traditional and biblical counseling.

Book Description
The First Steps in Seeing is about the eyes, and how they capture an image and convert it to the neural messages that ultimately result in visual experience.
A full appreciation of how the eyes work is rooted in diverse areas of scienceoptics; biochemistry and photochemistry; molecular biology, cell biology, neurobiology, and evolutionary biology; psychology and psychophysics.
The findings related to vision from any one of these fields are not difficult to understand in themselves, but, in order to be clear and precise, each discipline has developed its own set of words and conceptual relationsin effect, its own languageand for those wanting a broad introduction to vision these separate languages can present more of an impediment to understanding than an aid. However, what lies beneath these words usually has a beautiful simplicity, and it is the aim of The First Steps in Seeing to describe how we see in a manner that is understandable to all.
In this book, the use of technical terms is restricted, and several hundred full-color illustrations ensure that the terms that are used are associated with a picture, icon, or graph that visually expresses their meaning. Experimental findings have been recast in terms of the natural world whenever possible, and broad themes bring together lines of thought that are often treated separately.
Fourteen main chapters form a "thread" that tells the main scientific story and can be read without specialized knowedge or reliance on other sources. This thread is linked to fourteen discussions which explore certain crucial topics in greater depth. Notes link the material presented in the thread and in the special topics discussions to important review articles and seminal research papers.
The First Steps in Seeing is an innovative, authoritative work that belongs in the library of anyone with an interest in visual perception.

wonderful book.......2007-02-19
christof koch recommended this text in his Quest for Consciousness if one wants to understand the details of how light is processed within the retina. koch's book takes up the story subsequent to that. rodieck takes a spiral approach, starting with a general tour of the entire retina, then returning to each stage in more and more detail. his description of the action potential is for me much more understandable than the typical explanation in a neuroscience text. i consider this book priceless -- it is informed by intelligence and humor and a deep knowledge of the material. i wanted to understand how a molecule could absorb a photon and communicate that to the brain, and it's all here in remarkably clear yet precise prose. what a treasure.
Seeing at many levels.......2002-01-20
There are many books on vision, but this one is truly unique. The illustrations, organization, and writing make it an example of everything a good text book should be. It can be read as an introduction to vision, to neurobiology, or simply to biology. The real beauty of this text is that it makes this elegant field of biology accessible to so many. A natural progression of chapters leads you through the field of vision, while a series of interludes and topics help you think through fundamental issues such as scale, measurement, and kinetics. Finally, an epilogue does what so few texts do: it outlines what we don't know! I read this during a week-long vactation in Tuscany, and it went down like the fine wine of the region.
A masterful, lucid explanation of what the human eye does........1998-12-15
Whoever you are and whatever your line of work: if you are interested in how your eyes work, this book will fascinate you as much (or more) than the hottest bestseller. The author, Bob Rodieck, spent much of the last decade of his career in science assembling and designing this amazingly lucid, accessible, and sophisticated account of what humans do with those photons that are lucky enough to hit their retinas. The figures are works of art--informative without being cluttered. The book is more than just an account of how the eye work: it is also a case study of the scientific method, with numerous wise asides on how to think about, and solve, scientific problems. The publisher, Sinauer Associates, is noted for careful editing and beautiful book production, and this 562-page book is a superb example of the craft that belongs right next to Edward R. Tufte's classic "Visual Explanations." If you are teaching a course in Sensory Psychology or Neuroscience (any branch), quick, get this book. Just the appendix material is worth the price.

One of the most interesting book in the field of vision, behavior, posture and

See to Learn, See to Work, See to Play .......2006-02-20
Seeing Through New Eyes is an introduction to the treatment of visual conditions that go beyond 20/20 eyesight. Developmental or behavioral vision care can have a significant impact on behavioral, social and learning problems associated with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities. Poor eye contact and other behaviors are often the result of difficulty with "ambient vision" that drives spatial awareness, visual organization and balance/coordination. Dr. Kaplan gives guidance on how to identify the visual deficits of nonverbal children, select performance lenses that will alter ambient vision and how to create individual vision management programs in order to assist each individual in achieving maximum success in life. This book is essential reading for parents of children with autism spectrum disorder and professionals in the fields of autism, optometry, ophthalmology, psychology and education.

Loss of eye is scary.......2004-09-29
I lost sight of one eye in 1988. It did not hurt, but I did not know what to expect, and how I would adapt to monocular vision. No-one seemed to be able to advise me - until I came across "A Singular View".
This book explains it in 129 large print pages, using ordinary English, not in medispeak. It explains how most people see, the process of adjusting to the use of just one eye, and tips to adapt in a wide range of day to day situations.
If you have lost, or are losing, the sight of one eye, are you close to someone in this situation, this book is a MUST.>
Helpful!.......2001-03-19
I was born with a Cataract in 1971 which wasn't removed until I was 7 years old in an out of town hospital (due to the fact that the doctors in my area who were not educated in Cataract surgery in infants.) From birth, I did not have vision in my right eye.
I was introduced to this book by my Ocularist when I received my scleral shell for my eye in 1996. (Yes, yet another doctor in my area that had no idea what he was doing. I lost my during a procedure he performed that was unnecessary.)
This book was helpful to me in understanding how and why I do certain things with one eye. Also, it explains how to compensate for the lack of depth-perception or peripheral vision. It gives a list of famous personalities with monocular vision so don't feel so alone. These people did great things in life with only one eye, for example Theodore Roosevelt, Sandy Duncan, Peter Falk, Guglielmo Marconi, John Milton, Horatio Nelson, and Hilaire Germain Edgar Degas are just a few.
I recommend this book to anyone who knows someone or is a person with one eye. Some may have lost their eye years ago or recently. Either way, it is a help to all.
very helpful book.......2000-12-31
My 7 year old son lost vision in one eye through a accident. My sister found this book in the public library and it was very helpful to us as parents and for my son. It helped us deal with some of the every day difficulties in the first few months. It also helped us realize that he could continue doing alot of the same activities, with extra precautions of course. I have passed on the name of the book to all the eye specialist we have seen. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has lost vision in one eye or any one dealing directly with a friend or relative who has lost vision in one eye.
Eyecare Professional Gives Book Thumbs Up.......2000-08-17
In my 18 years in eyecare, I've never come across a better book on monocularity (having only one seeing eye). I've recommended this book to several patients, with wonderful results. My best advice to any person with only one useful eye is two-fold: always wear safety glasses, and get this book! It is full of practical advice that I've passed along to patients, even those who have two good eyes but must wear an eye patch on one for a while. This is grass-roots stuff to help you where you live...driving, dining out, even shaking hands. As an author and editor of eyecare material myself, I'm very particular and picky. But this book is a winner any way you look at it.
Product Description
For primary students, writing can take many forms: drawings, scribbles, recordings, and text that goes every which way. The challenge for teachers is to see the experimentation and playfulness of young writers not as errors, but as ways of learning. Seeing With New Eyes, sixth edition is designed to do just that.
Based on NWREL's 6+1 Trait(R) Writing Model, this guidebook helps teachers use the traits of good writing as a framework for instruction and scoring of prewriters as well as competent ones. While the main audience for the publication is teachers of kindergarten through second-grade students, the model can also be used effectively for older youngsters in special education and limited English proficiency classes.
Among the changes to the sixth edition are new scoring guides geared to giving effective feedback on a wide range student work samples. Using the traits helps teachers focus their instruction, identifying the specific characteristics that contribute to good writing.

Book Description
A highly-anticipated new collection of 58 of Robert Williams' most recent paintings, many from his past three shows at Tony Shafrazi's Gallery in New York. The images range from Williams' familiar lowbrow and biker culture, and delve deep into a faux science of quantum mechanics, leaving the viewer in a world of scientific mindplay.

Worth every penny..........2007-10-09
If you are even looking at this title you should just buy it! I bought this book as well as "Malicious Resplendence: The Paintings of Robt. Williams". Both books approach Williams' work from different angles and are therefore quite complementary as a pair. Enjoy!
Excellent presentation of one of the greatist artists of our time!.......2006-11-20
This book is a walkthrough of 58 paintings by Robert Williams with each plate receiving a suitable diatribe from the artistic genius himself. I read through and studied each painting in one sitting and could not put this book down, although the subject matter and depth of each painting is probably best taken over a longer period of time. I would highly recommend this book as a study of hyperrealism and the most most extreme distortion of the physical world.
Picks up where "Malicious Resplendence" left off.......2005-07-19
Robert Williams continues his legacy of lowbrow/garage surrealism with "Through Prehensile Eyes". It collects all of his newest canvases painted since the publication of "Malicious Respendence". The paintings are all of the same style and twisted sense of humor we have come to expect from Williams. His recent works seems less detailed than what he has done in the past, and some of the paintings are on rather small canvases (for Williams, anyway). Like his much earlier books, this one provides a tongue-in-cheek "artistic" essay with each painting, complemented by an original sketch and/or details from it. Occasionally these essays provide valuable information about historical events or people pictured, but mostly they are just fluff and could've easily been cut from the book. But fans of his work won't be disappointed with the paintings inserted between the text.

Reviews:
"Just for a little while, let Klaus be your mentor. His struggling for creativity is revealing, is so evident. Reach out to grab it. Resolve to integrate this highly saleable touch of class into your daily output."
Jack Curtis, author, "Wedding Portraits and Photography World"
"I was so impressed with what Klaus had to say I had to restrain myself."
Paul Castle, author, "Promoting Portraits"
"Klaus has been quite successful... and both he and his Photography must be given better than average marks. What follows are epitomized abstractions of some of Klaus' comments on how he operates, and I feel they could be of practical value to you."
D.H. Moore, author, "The Practice of Modern Photography"

Customer Reviews:
Definitely overpriced..........2007-08-29
This book looks like a do-it-yourself publication. Certainly not worth this price. Anything by Freeman Patterson would be a better choice, both for content and value for the money.
Stinks.......2007-04-03
Lousy presentation, what more can be said? There are far better books on compositiion than this one.
An Incredible Journey with a Master Photographer.......2007-03-17
This book contains essential information having been written by an incredible Master Photographer. An absolute must read for both the novice and experienced photographer as Klaus Bohn is the very best educator on this subject. Hopefully this will be the first of many books written by Mr. Bohn as I want more for my own library. I am drawn to his warm personal style evident in both his written work and in the amazing photographs he has taken. Highly Recommended!!
Poorly written and over priced.......2007-03-12
I expected a useful treatise by a respected photographer. Instead, I received a book that is so poorly written it appears it had no editor, with illustrative photographs so poorly reproduced it is hard to appreciate what they are demonstrating. Save your money and look elsewhere for help.
