Too much fluff.......2007-05-12
I was looking for a book that would tell me the car and training, and although this book did have some, it was not to the extent I was looking for. I had read previous reviews saying what a great book this was for new Pap owners, but being a new Pap owner, it still gave way too much extranious information and even I knew some of it was incorrect just from talking to the few breeders I had talked to.

basically the book covers the breed type, and covered all I wanted to know about the breed. The one thing is that there is too much of old breed lines which would not be of use to one outside the UK

This book has everything you need to know before you buy a Papillon.It helps you deicide whether you want a male or female or a papillon or phalene.It helps you learn how to keep your Papillon healthy and how to groom them.Now I feel I'm ready to own my Papillon,I know their diet (which is kind of unusual,another reason to get this book)and how to choose a healthy puppy.I recomend this book to people who are planning or already have a papillon,it will certainly make you happier knowing that your papillon is happy living with you.It is really worth it,it really is!....

There are really very few current books on Papillons. I originally bought a copy of this book for my mother in England. She has a papillon and has found the book very useful. I am now about to buy a copy for myself. The authors are well established breeders and judges of papillons in the UK. They cover everything from grooming and care of a papillon to the history of the breed and even papillon collectables. The illustrations are good. The survey of the chief Papillon bloodlines in the UK and USA is not comprehensive (but if it was the book would have been far less easy to read). There is a singular lack of the generic dog information that marrs many other breed handbooks. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in papillons. It would be a good book for someone who is thinking of buying/adopting a papillon to read before deciding if this is the right dog for him/her.

having never even heard of the breed this book helped me out alot when I decided to buy a Papillion puppy. I would recommend this to anyone thinking about buying a Papillion.

Good value containing a range of relevant general information for maintaining your papillon in good condition throughout it's lifetime. Health comments regarding teeth, patella, false pregnancy relate pretty well to what I've seen. Back pain/spasm is also a problem.
Excellent Introduction to a Wonderful Breed.......2004-07-22
Most people have only seen Papillons on television dog shows and never in person, a true shame as these little dogs are among the cutest and most wonderful of breeds. Although this book doesn't come with one of the furry-eared little pups, it is a great introduction to the breed.
The book covers the Papillon breed itself, giving a short history and breed standards, then goes on to discuss what to expect in a pet, delves into care and touches on grooming and showing, peppered throughout with color photos. Yes, the dearth of printed Papillon literature in the US does mean that this book is the choice by default for many wishing to learn more about Papillons, and some of its information is both dated or at times erroneous, but overall, it's a good introduction to those hoping to learn more about one of the cutest and most endearing breeds of toy dogs out there.

I found more information on papillions, specifically-online! I found most of the information to be general as opposed to specific about the papillion breed. I recently brought home my papillion puppy, three weeks ago and I am not impressed. It is definately not a "complete pet owners manual".

This book helped me out a lot. I play goalie and defense and this book has very helpful sections on both postitions. My firends and I brought this to our team practice and our coach read it and said that he will use all of the drills given to help us out. This is a very good buy and i reccomend it to every beginning and advanced player out there.

Great tool for novices.......1999-10-27
This book is an excellent tool for novices of the game. It gives chapters about the positions and techniques of the game and could be very helpul if you are learning lacrosse. It is also a resourceful tool as a coach (of kids under about 14) and gives pointers on all aspects of the game. If you have been playing lacrosse for a while you may want to look to another source for information about the game, although this book would be somewhat entertaining.

I coach high school Lacrosse in Missouri, and have found this book a valuable tool in teaching Lacrosse to my players and their parents. I also loan this book out to other coaches and assistant coaches. The book is very comprehensive, but it is so easy to understand, that a total novice at Lacrosse is able to understand the game and even feel like an authority. It covers rules, history and strategy. In an area where Lacrosse is relatively new, this book is a god-send

Help Along the Way of Liberty.......2004-04-18
Mike Tolhurst's father fought in the battle for Normandy. Perhaps that is why the narrative portion of this book reads with such emotion, not just military matter-of-factness. This book would succeed, I believe, simply as an account of this part of the war, even without the "travel guide" aspects. Eyewitness accounts and quotes from German as well as Allied soldiers bring what was happening to life.
I had already decided to go to Normandy when I purchased this book. But it was invaluable in helping me decide which places to see, since I knew my time would be limited. Each chapter consists of a narrative of part of the battle, then an accompanying suggested tour which touches on cities and places mentioned in that chapter. I ended up not following the plans exactly, but still basing my choices of places to go on the authors' narratives.
I found Normandy to be beautiful and welcoming, and would recommend that every American, Canadian and UK native visit these sites if you can, most especially if a relative fought in the war. If you do you'll need some guidance as to what to see and where it is, and this book will help a great deal.
Take this One With You.......2000-10-05
This is a great guide to take with you on a trip to Normandy. I carried it with me throughout my tours and was able to read aloud about the events that took place-standing on Omaha Beach and reading about the various divisions that struggled where I stood was of great value to myself and my husband.
The eyewitness accounts bring it to life as well.
If you plan on touring the D Day beaches and sites, bring this one with you!
Fascinating read.......2000-06-15
What makes this book stand out for me is the eyewitness reports, which are dotted throughout as you read this account of the D-Day landings. They bring alive the personal experiences of those who fought and help the reader appreciate the scarifices made.
The book is a nice mix of the history of this particular military campaign, and what the traveller to Normandy can hope to see today. This means the book is a good read for either the armchair military buff or the interested tourist.
Lots of photos and clear maps also add to this very good and highly readable book.

Good reference..........2007-01-12
Not really the type you sit down to enjoy, but very good as a reference for cleaning. Handy.
I also like that the author tries to use natural cleaning products, although it's not always practical to make your own concoctions.
She's the Queen, But..........2006-08-11
I love Linda Cobb's cheery, enthusiastic attitude towards cleaning. But this book seems like it was written in a hurry, with inconsistent advice, very few explanations of procedures, and incomplete indexing. At one point, she says that vacuuming twice a week is essential, in another place, she says once a week is fine. Rarely is there an explanation as to why something works, or why something should be done in a certain way. And yikes! How to find alll the references to perspiration stains? Not in the index. You've got to sweat it out through the whole book to find all the suggestions. I truly hope the Queen writes a second edition with all the details I know she would like to impart.
Great Idea -- Poor Execution.......2005-12-09
I bought Queen of Clean thinking that it would be a great resource guide. One would think the "Queen" of clean, could provide this bachelor with some organization and structure throughout the year.
After my New Year's resolution to maintain a neater household, I quickly paged through the book thinking it was a perfect fit. Her ideas and the information she shares are quite helpful.
My problem -- did the editors ever think that an index might be necessary? On several occassion when I've needed an instant suggestion (i.e. the romoval of a wine stain or cleaning my showerhead), I have been unable to locate the solution, though I know it is in there somewhere. After fifteen minutes (the stain is already setting in) of fumbling through the spiral binder which feels like any page could tear with an easy turn, [...]. My solutions popped up instantly.
My suggestion is: save yourself the $20 and get high speed internet.

I was anxiously awaiting this book arrival when I ordered it and was somewhat dissapointed at the result. This book has a lot of useful information, but a lot of the info is not new and can be found in any old Home cleaning or organizing book. I was looking for unique, brand new, undiscovered solutions to commom cleaning dilemmas and was let down when I came across the same old stuff( some that work and some don't)!!

Jordan MacKenzie is your average high-school junior. Her parents are divorced and she lives with her dad, she has a new boyfriend, and an after-school job that's only so-so. Her father has always seemed like the "normal" one: he's an optometrist, where as her mother is a leftover hippie who runs a B&B. Then Jordan meets Gayle. Gayle is married, and she's also dating Jordan's father. Jordan feels trapped: she knows it's wrong, but her dad tells her it's his own business. Then things start to spiral scarily out of control, and Jordan feels trapped. This book tells movingly and compellingly the story of a teen who is lost, and has nowhere to run. Although the circumstances are not extremely commonplace, Jordan's emotions are, and you'll be anticipating what will happen next, in both Jordan's life and her father's, for the whole book.
Everything You Want.......2006-03-08
Jordan's life is about to change forever. This teenage girl thought the worse thing that could happen to her would be her artsy mother embarrassing her yet again. Then, her father - the "normal" one, the parent she chose to live with after the divorce, the optometrist - becomes the epicenter of a scandal.
I read this novel when it was released in 2002 and it haunts me to this day. To say this is simply about what happens when teenagers realize that their parents are people too would be accurate, but incomplete. This book is an absolutely amazing story of a girl, a family, and a violent crime. Stunning.
The QUEEN of queens.......2005-11-11
I was a Deb Caletti fan from Honey, Baby, Sweetheart and Wild Roses and just found The Queen Of Everything. Caletti's books totally rock. Looking for something beyond your average teen read? Her characters are real, multi-dimensional people who you forget aren't real. I love it that teens have these kind of books that don't talk down to them or spoon feed their entertainment. Caletti makes you think, and provides a true and memorable world. Can't wait for the next one.

My daughter picked this up from the school library and could not put it down. I read it next and liked it so much I bought copies for my adult friends.
The rich development of Jordan and the hard lessons she learns at a critical time of her life were very real. I would recommend it for anyonoe with teenager.

...Exactly what is the message to be learned from this for young teens? I couldn't find it. The adult relationships were too callous and manipulative - decided not to put on my 14 year old's list of preferred reading.
