Excellent.......2007-10-17
"Life" by Lauren Tratar is an excellent book that delves into some astonishing information about the nature of personal reality, negative energy vortex, adamantine particles, and magnetic evidence. This is a very valuable workbook and guide. Firstly the reader explores their present beliefs, and then identifies what is wanted out of life, and finally how to use the law of attraction to manifest what you really want.
Also included are some extremely vlauable tools to guide you back on your path if you've lost your way.
A must read for anyone who is serious about personal self development work.
Some more powerful books that I recommend are:
The Astonishing Power of Emotions
Nexus: A Neo Novel
Call in the Geek Squad.......2007-09-28
Purporting to unveil the secret behind The Secret this book is a confused mish-mash New Age philosophy and pop psychology.
On the positive side, this book is physically quite attractive. The binder and section dividers feature lovely photographs and I thought the format was promising. The problem, however is in the contents. The author's style is clumsily self-conscious and she doesn't have an original idea.(In all fairness, there is not much new on the Law of Attraction. The trick is in a fresh presentation.) The book is packed with quotations of other people's works and song lyrics. Apparently, the author once ordered one book and another, a book of inspirational quotations, came instead She found this book wonderfully inspirational and each chapter features not just one or two quotes, but sometimes pages of them. Sorry, if I wanted to read Conversations with God I, II and III, The Nature of Personal Reality or any of the others she relies on, I would not have been reading her book. This over reliance on quotes is disruptive and contributes to the careful, term paperish effect.
This book quickly loses focus, jumping wildly from a clunky law of attraction formula to a recitation of the author's traumatic and abusive childhood and journey through different recovery modalities. While I credit her for addressing these challenges, it reads like a bad episode of Dr. Phil. It is somewhat troubling that she disparages the classic twelve step method as it does not fit within the precepts of her message.
The author refers to her higher self as "Angel". If you subscribe to the traditional definition of angels as being messengers of God, you will find his usage jarring.
If you are interested in the law of Attraction, there are many fine books that present it in an accessible manner. You can't go wrong with the classic Dynamic Laws of Prosperity by Catherine Ponder. The Abraham -Hicks materials provide a contemporary look at the law of attraction as do the Attractor Factor by Joe Vitale and Lynne Grabhorn's Excuse Me Your Life is Waiting. Michale Losier's Law of Attraction workbook is simple but effective while The Sedona Method and Larry Crane's Abundance Course are superb tutorials on releasing. If you opt for this offering you will receive a really neat binder and a headache.

Life a Complete Operating Manual.......2007-01-29
I am not quite done with this book because I am savoring every morsel. This book is what I needed to explain and guide what I have felt for years. I love the writing style of this author because it is easy to understand and her humor is exquisite. I recommend this book highly but to be enjoyable it must be read with an open mind.
Absolutely DIVINE!.......2002-02-09
I am a Metaphysician and an avid Law of Attraction (LOA) worker. One of my favorite things to do is continuously reveal to myself *evidence* of how Great Things Really Are. Lauren's book is an SPARKLING JEWEL! I totally adore how she has collected quotes & passages from throughout the ages from a huge assortment of Wise Voices and I definitely appreciate her research format of actually citing her sources (so often missing or incomplete in others' works). Her material is accurate, timely, and perfectly applicable - especially so in our current world situation. Read this book and drink from the Well of Wellbeingness. Your soul will thank you, your heart will rejoice, and your mind will have something very tangible to work with. The best part? You'll discover that your Sacred Imagination is finally free to do its thing: Make YOUR Personal Universe/Reality Delicously FUN! This is THE BOOK to savor for Deliberate Creators Everywhere :) I cannot say enough Good Things about this wonderful work. Lauren, you've made Life Easier and that's Really Fantastic!

Secrets of Shamanism: Tapping the Spirit Power Within You.......2007-07-03
Interesting, but doesn't match my physical and menthal condition. These excesises break the balance of tension and relaxation in my body, and I become more self-content and less of service to others. However, the experience with shaman jorneys cast another light on that. Everything envisioned seems true!

Book Description
Chuck Norris has spent a lifetime studying the martial arts, earning several black belts and world championships. Now, through anecdotes about his own
personal struggles and triumphs, Norris explains how the ancient system of Zen--the core philosophy behind the martial arts--can help each of us achieve
spiritual tranquillity and self-confidence.
The Secret Power Within is both a highly accessible lesson in Zen philosophy as well as the compelling story of Chuck Norris's own remarkable success. In this highly entertaining and inspiring account, Norris shows how Zen can be applicable to everyday situations, from the conference room to the
living room. Chapters include:
* Winning by Losing: If you have nothing to prove, you have no need to fight.
* Complete the Wheel: How to balance your life to achieve success.
* Your Master, Your Art: To maintain self-respect you must respect the work you do, and do it as well as possible.
* My Way of Meditating: Norris's personal technique for achieving tranquillity under pressure.
The message is simple: There are no limits for the person who refuses to accept them.
Customer Reviews:
Worth reading.......2007-09-15
Being a Chuck Norris fan his book "The Secret Power Within" was enjoyable and an easy read. Chuck told stories that were touching and poignant. He talked about Zen and Meditation which help him keep his cool in the ring and in life. I saw him win the World Championship in Dallas where in the preliminaries he knocked out ten competitors with no signs of nervousness or fear. Chuck is a true champion in the ring and in life.
Chuck Norris. Enough Said........2007-07-14
Chuck Norris is not only a martial arts and action icon, he is now a culteral phenomenon. Few people know the man behind the immense reputation, this book will take you there - like a roundhouse kick to the face.
Outstanding Book.......2007-05-12
Chuck Norris is a man who has succeeded at everything he has done, which
makes him a person I want to know more about. In this book he reveals his
methods of achieving his goals and meeting life's challenges. His advice
may not always be easy to follow, but it is always good and wise advice.
This is clearly one of the most beneficial books I have read.
Pop Goes The Roshi.......2007-04-15
THE SECRET POWER WITHIN: ZEN SOLUTIONS TO REAL PROBLEMS by Chuck Norris is Pop Zen, but the book is no less meaningful for that. Norris may not be a Zen scholar; he may not be talking about shikantaza, koans, the Heart Sutra, The Three Pure Precepts, Dogen's fascicles, and all the formalities of active Zen practice (which are as important to maintaining one's focus in the zendo as are learning katas in the dojo), but he does speak with common sense about adopting an overall Zen outlook in one's daily life.
Norris might well be cashing in on Zen in this book, but to the reader it's worth the price, particularly if the reader is not that familiar with Zen. There are too many books that have "Zen" in the title---there are even "Zen Puppy" dog treats---but few of the books that make up the mainstream of the "Zen in the Art of..." and "The Zen of..." genre are as sincere as this book.
Norris, the world famous martial artist and action-adventure actor, really wants us to GET IT---no, not to be "enlightened" perhaps, but to make the spare, simple clarity of the "Zen viewpoint" an active part of our days and to reap whatever benefits this may bring. He makes no promises, but with the ease of experience uses many examples from his own life and from martial arts training and competition to illustrate the advantages of a "Zennish" approach to the challenges that face us.
Some of these stories appear in Joe Hyams' ZEN IN THE MARTIAL ARTS, unsurprisingly, because the two men are friends, they shared these experiences, and, additionally, because Hyams was Norris' sometime text editor.
As an ordained Zen practitioner, I was prepared not to like this book, but I'm glad to say I did. THE SECRET POWER WITHIN is an undramatic and straightforward presentation of streetcorner prajna (translated as Wisdom), which anybody can approach comfortably. It's not THE BLUE CLIFF RECORD, but it doesn't have to be. Even better, it doesn't pretend to be.
A little gem of wisdom .......2006-12-07
I know, a book about Zen Buddisim written by Chuck Norris, strange. All I have to say after reading this is that Chuck Norris is the man. I can't believe i'm saying this but I love this book. There is some serious wisdom in here intermixed with biographical stuff. I feel a little shameful in saying that my introduction to buddisim came mainly from a book by Chuck Norris. I honestly feel better about my life and existance after reading this. I feel more aware about my surroundings and feel a greater calmness in life. Walk with Chuck and you will walk with a greater appreciation for all things, big and small.

Book Description
Have you yet to discover your Individuality? Is your Real Self hidden in some remote corner of your mind? Do you need to develop your use of Will? Then meet William Walker Atkinson, one of the most influential thinkers of the early-20th-century "New Age" philosophy of New Thought, which encouraged its adherents to tap the latent powers of their potent minds. In this quaint volume, you'll learn how to harness the Power of Desire, utilize the Soul-Force, and bend the Law of Attraction to your bidding, all in the cause of discovering the person you were meant to be. American writer WILLIAM WALKER ATKINSON (1862-1932) was editor of the popular magazine New Thought from 1901 to 1905, and editor of the journal Advanced Thought from 1916 to 1919. He authored dozens of New Thought books under numerous pseudonyms, some of which are likely still unknown today, including "Yogi Ramacharaka" and "Theron Q. Dumont."

Biased Portrayal, Showing Jesuit-Opus Rivalry.......2004-07-01
Walsh, a former Jesuit, bases many conclusions about Opus (admittedly) on the Prelate's constitution of 1950! He holds the Prelature hostage to practices based on their rule of half a century ago. What if someone's only view of America's south was a snapshot of 1954? While it may be true that Escriva was slow to embrace the liturgical changes of the Second Vatican Council, so were thousands of clerics ordained before 1969. Opus influence in anti-Marxist dictatorships is frequently cited, yet there exists no apology for Jesuits holding state positions in Ortega's Sandanista Cabinet! He concludes that Opus is "less Christian" than those who practice Liberation Theology. Ironically, it was a member of Walsh's former Order that was a US Congressman with a Pro-Abortion voting record.
brainwashing.......2003-02-21
Michael Walsh discusses systemic aspects of Opus Dei that achieve a regime of thought control within the organization, rightly describing Opus Dei as a "hothouse."
By Maria del Carmen Tapia, Beyond the Threshold, 1998:
Opus Dei silences critical minds. Monsignor Escriva used to say, "I don't want great brains in the Work, because they turn into swelled heads. Average intelligences, if they are docile and faithful, are very effective." An engineer, banker, or scientist tends to have fewer problems with superiors in the Work than humanists, philosophers, or theologians, who are almost always frustrated within the Work. As soon as someone--who may even be a priest--is outstanding in the field of philosophy or theology, Opus Dei will almost certainly end by silencing him....He frequently ends up by leaving the institution or becomes the patient of a psychiatrist. Opus Dei does not let you think nor engage in speculation.
Completely uninformed.......2002-11-14
There are times when one must not speak if one does not know the subject. I believe that this is one of those times. Walsh has no relative idea of the meaning behind the Opus Dei. His concepts and his rationale are very contradicting to the spirit of the Opus Dei. It is pertinent to respect others opinions - even those like Walsh's. But it is also pertinent to make it clear when someone attacks or criticizes something that they clearly do not understand. I would definetly NOT recommend this book. Try reading The Man from Villa Tevere or The Way or It is Christ Passing... those can give you a better idea of what the Opus Dei is about.
Balanced Opinion?.......2002-08-25
Does this reader even understand Opus Dei?
For starters, it is not a religious order--a mistake that would allude to his misunderstanding of the most basic aspects of Opus Dei. Opus Dei seeks to bring sanctity into the lives of ordinary people. That is why it wasn't formed as a religious order.
The truth is mixed with the author's schemery to deface an institution of the Church.
Those who read this book should be aware that the author will not give a balanced opinion. In fact, wouldn't this book be a better read if it inspires much hatred in its readers?
Biased book.......2002-01-25
The book is unfortunately highly biased and riddled with inaccuracies. Messori's book, on the other hand, provides a balanced and accurate representation of Opus Dei.

German Seed in Texas Soil: Immigrant Farmers in Nineteenth-Century Texas
ASIN: 0875650376 |
Customer Reviews:
It was an assignment for a UTSA Texas History course.......2003-02-16
I should give it more, but it's fictional, and I like true tales of the past. It's fairly short and somewhat colorful. You get a brief taste of what it would have been like for a German family to make the trek to Texas in the old days of the west. The boat trip alone would have killed most of us. It's a nice story, but I like the Laura Ingalls Wilder books better.
A fictional children's book........2002-12-04
I was expecting actual letters and commentary. This is a book written not just at a young person's level, but also for young people. As an adult looking for serious information on the subject of German settlement of Texas in 1847 - I was dissapointed. Perhaps a simple label of "Fiction" would be nice.
Apart from that - the story is interesting and well written and I would recommend it to people of any age interested in this subject. Don't expect a scholarly account and hard facts, this is fiction but fun.
WOnderful account of a piece of Texas' history........1999-03-29
This story, as told from the eyes of a young girl from Germany, gives a fairly accurate account of what life may have been like for a family immigrating to Texas in 1847. It is appropriate for all ages and backgrounds, but is particularly interesting to the Germans who established themselves in Texas. As I read it, I related to the language, customs, and locations presented in the story. I am eager for my father to read it. His mother might well have written the story herself.
