Book Description
The Eastern corridor of the United States may be notorious for overdevelopment, but Curtis J. Badger offers a challenge in his The Wild Coast: Exploring the Natural Attractions of the Mid-Atlantic: get off the highway and go see what the mid-Atlantic states have to offer. A companion to both Virginia's Wild Side and A Naturalist's Guide to the Virginia Coast, this new volume takes the reader on more than two dozen frequently surprising excursions through five mid-Atlantic states, offering detailed adventures for travelers wishing to explore the undeveloped territory of the East Coast.
With excursions ranging from sea kayaking at Roanoke Island, North Carolina, to a visit to the hawk observatory at Cape May, New Jersey, Badger's guide promises not only factual information on birds, butterflies, holly forests, and native plants but also an entertaining narrative that captures the excitement of exploring new territory. This guidebook to both wildlife and botany will appeal to anyone journeying along the eastern seaboard, particularly those interested in trading in their offices and armchairs for a taste of the unexpected and the wild.

Great Resource for Beaches, hotels, travel ferries, etc.......2004-12-16
Having done a 21 day shoot for our "Best Caribbean Beaches" DVD on Amazon, here, I can say this book was an invaluable resource. It would have been 5 stars, but Fodor's continues not to include pictures. They have great maps, with beaches located, and well described. They even have the Ferry routes in the Virgin Islands so you can plan your trips. (Though my old Ferry almost sank when it blew an engine in 5 foot swells! Luckily, we were rescued.) I strongly recommend this as a factual resource. However, if you want to see and hear what Caribbean Beaches look like, check out our DVD after reading this book.

Book Description
This lovely collection tells of the hope and healing that comes from contact with horses. Whether used to give disabled riders a sense of freedom and mobility, to heal wounds of childhood abuse, to assist with work, or simply as loving companions, horses bond with people in ways that change them for the better. The stories, contributed by people from all over the country and from all walks of life, introduce Cholla, the horse who paints pictures; a veterinarian who was reminded of the importance of compassion by a dying horse and a Native American chief; Star, a horse who saved a teenage girl from suicide; the late-blooming rider who embarrassed a horse and learned an important lesson about respecting the feelings of others — even if they have four legs; and many others. Whether running through fields or performing intricate dressage drills, horses carry not only riders but messages of unconditional love and hope.

A touching collection of essays on the bonds between horses and humans........2007-05-01
This book comprises a collection of 38 short essays, all submitted by different authors, about the special ways in which horses have impacted their lives. The essays are divided into four categories. "Love and Dreams" focuses on how a the love of horses can affect people; "Healing and Health" contains stories about lessons learned from equine health troubles, as well as ways in which horses have taught people about their own health; "Courage and Endurance" collects stories about equine heroes and horses that have inspired the people around them; and finally "Spiritual Connection and the Afterlife" explores the spiritual and religious experiences humans have had in connection with horses. After each essay the authors pose a question or two for the reader, designed to prompt reflection on how the story may relate to your own life. At the end of each section is a short, fictional "Ask Zeke" page, where the authors have posed a question to their friend's horse, Zeke, and then composed an reply as if Zeke himself were answering. The stories are a mixed bag of themes, and some impacted me more than others. If you aren't a particularly religious person, you may find a couple of the more supernaturally-oriented stories a little harder to relate to, but on the whole the essays presented here are heartfelt and touching. My favorite pieces were "Emily's Song," about a withdrawn, lonely young girl who finally comes out of her shell in order to help and even lonelier, more withdrawn pony, and "Miracles are Something to Believe In," written by a 12-year-old girl who's pony Lilly saved her life by, counter-intuitively enough, falling on her in a freak accident. The book is a quick and easy read, suitable for horse lovers of all ages, and well worth the time. "Angel Horses" would be a great gift for any horse lover, or a nice treat for yourself.
I loved this book!.......2007-03-29
This was an inspiring book for a horse lover and Christian. Everything was as advertised.
Beautiful collection.......2007-03-12
This is a beautiful, inspirational collection of real life stories of the love, lessons learned and spirtiual connections that people have with horses.
Each story is sensitively told in the own words of the horse's owner/or the person who has the story to tell.
The book's major focus is on the spirituality and sensitivity of the horse and just how deep that goes in these beautiful creatures.
A gentle plea for people to open their hearts and minds to the wisdom and love horses have to offer at all stages of their lives.
I found the book to be touching and refreshing.
Angel Horses.......2007-03-10
Moving, heart-tugging, heart-warming, encouraging. This book hits all of those emotions! A great gift for the animal Lover--especially of horses (of course!!) Short stories make it easy to pick up and put down for a busy schedule too.
An outstanding survey recommended for horse enthusiasts as well as spiritual readers........2006-12-12
Connections between horses and humans have long been a part of literature and religious inspection, but ANGEL HORSES: DIVINE MESSENGERS OF HOPE takes thins a step further in offering stories of people whose happiness has roots in relationships with horses. Horses are increasingly used in therapy, so ANGEL HORSES supports this idea and offers up the notion of horses as bearers and teachers of unconditional love. An outstanding survey recommended for horse enthusiasts as well as spiritual readers.

horse guides.......2007-01-10
If you are a horse lover you will appreciate this deck not only for its stunning artwork of horses ,but also for it's wisdom. Even if you're not, the deck is a beauty to hold and look at and work with. The insights are eloquent and uncannily accurate when a question is posed, or when used for a daily inspiration. The individual cards are lovely enough to want to frame as small pieces of art.
Amazing.......2006-06-01
I've had the cards for a week now - and every day the one I pull is a PERFECT message. If you like Animal Medicine Cards and you love horses these cards belong in your life!
More than a whisper... these will touch your heart.......2006-04-12
When I received my deck, I was immediately blown away by the remarkable artwork on each card. The look and feel of these cards is far superior to what I was expecting - they are much larger and heavier than the usual 52-card playing deck. But then, these are not ordinary cards! Each one has an astonishingly relevant spiritual message on the back. Not only worthy of goose bumps, but very easily could be the spark for change or an affirmation of peace in one's life. Although I am a horse lover, you don't have to be to fully appreciate this unusual deck of cards.
Incredible Card Deck.......2006-04-12
From the moment I got Melisa's horse cards, my life has changed. Whenever I pick a spiritual card with a different horse and thought, it somehow reflects what is going on in my life at that moment. This validation comforts me and guides me to continue in that direction. The spectacular, unique artwork stirs my soul. These cards will make a great gift for the treasured people in my life. If you like angel cards, you will certainly enjoy the beauty and grace of these unique horse cards, which enlighten your day.

Galloping Gurus.......2006-03-19
I've had the pleasure of meeting Melisa after purchasing the cards for my New Age Store. I've been in this business long enough to know the people who love and follow their work, and the people who pump out the next 'thing' just for the sale. Melisa, like her cards, radiate a type of authenticity that I hadn't seen in years. You can tell that each card, each phrase was put together with love and an intent for guidance. They sit on my desk and I use them regularly. Thank you, Melisa. You and your cards made an indelible impression. Buy these cards, support an honest, sincere being who has spent years creating something to support you!

Customer Reviews:
blank journal.......2007-02-04
As the other reviewers say, I was surprised to see that this is just a blank journal. I had thought it would showcase some of the author's journal, with drawings and comments. So I was pretty disappointed.
However, DO buy his books, especially "Blankets" and "Carnet du Voyage". They're amazing.
Please Read!.......2007-01-05
NOTE that this is only a Craig Thompson- designed journal, not a graphic novel by him. I failed to do my research on this, and was confused when, upon opening my my Amazon order, I saw blank pages.
However, all things besides it's a nice journal to own, especially if you are a fan of Craig Thompson. The pages inside are arranged so that when the journal is open, one page is without lines, for sketching, and one is with lines, for drawing. While the paper binding isn't so durable, this is more of a collector's item than anything I suspect.
not what i thought.......2006-11-10
i didnt realize this was a *journal* when i bought it... i have read craig thompson's other stuff, and liked it all immensely. it all has a biographical slant, so i thought this was a journal in that sense, but instead it is just a nicely packaged notebook/diary thingy. i'm kind of disappointed about that. unfortunately, can't return it because i took the sticker off alrady--maybe i will just give it to my little sister.

AWSOME!!.......2003-02-24
I think this book is realy great. This is one of my favorite books in this series
Really good book and series.......2001-08-19
Something is the matter with Scoop's friend Jen Zucker. She has been sick all the time lately. Scoop is worried about her. Jen's brother Travis is worried about her too. When Scoop finds something in Jen's coat pocket she is really upset that Jen would do something like that. This book was sort of a mystery. This series is really good and there are 8 books in the series. I love Scoop's horse Orphan. My favorite characters in the books are Scoop, Jen, and Travis. My favorite horses are Orphan and Cheyenne.

A Very Simple Book for the Toddler Crowd.......2007-01-24
This book is a very simple board book to be read to 2 year olds and under. It has one sentence per page and 1 pony at a time disappears when you turn the page. The little plastic ponies do not come out of the book or make any cute sounds like I wish that they would. A determined toddler might be about to pry the ponies off their cardboard pages, which could make them a choke hazard.
