5 out of 5 stars Great help for beginners.......2007-07-17

I am a beginner "older" golfer and didn't feel in very good shape for golfing. The muscles used for the golf swing are very different than what we usually use. This book was excellent for showing me stretches to get my body in shape. What I especially like about it is that it also gives really good golf tips as well as staying in shape tips. I highly recommend it for anyone just starting out golfing or experienced golfers as well.

4 out of 5 stars Helpful to me..........2007-03-09

As an ACE-certified personal trainer who has no knowledge of golf with a client interested in improving their golf game, this book was very helpful to me. It not only showed me what steps a golfer needs to make for set-up, swing, etc., it also showed me exercises to specifically help in each step. The book shows how to perform these sports-specific exercises and tells me why my client needs to do them.

    5 out of 5 stars Golf's Hidden Secret.......2005-11-07

I've read a lot of instructional books (Hogan, Flick, Leadbetter, etc.). They all make it clear what you need to do to strike the ball well, but it doesen't matter if you know what to do mentally if your body can't get you there. Cindy's book is fantastic. I've been using it for about a month, and I've never hit the ball so well. The best thing about her approach is that once you start getting your muscles in "golf shape" you don't have to think when you're over the ball. The training program provides you with all of that much talked about (but seldom acheived) correct muscle memory. Here's how I know this is the real deal. Every other instruction technique I've ever used worked fine until I got to my driver, but after follwing Reid's program I've felt comfortable (and getting much better results) with the driver. Her system works. I also like it because, unlike other golf exercise programs I've tried, Cindy doesn't just give you one routine and expect you to do the same thing day after day. It's an 11 day program with something different every day. You won't be in "golf shape" in 11 days, but you simply start a new cycle over again once you've completed the 11 day program. In addition, the fact that she ties the program to individual positions is a great motivator. You can work on the "one piece takeway" without leaving the cofines of your home, and the best thing about it is that by doing the exercises you know you're working out the correct muscles to accomplsh the task (instead of going to the driving range, repeating the same bad swing, and developing incorrect muscle memmory). If you want to improve your game get "Golf Shape" today.

I didn't really use this book very much -- It was accurate, but very dry and the book only describes locations by their Italian names without reference to how it is pronounced in English which made it difficult to use.

4 out of 5 stars Looks good in print!.......2005-07-25

I like the format and content of this guide. It seems to cover the most important sites and details of many Sicilian towns and cities that I will visit in Feb '06. I look forward to taking it with me and trying it out!

    5 out of 5 stars Wonderfully Informative.......2000-08-31

This guide is extremely helpful in planning a trip to Sicily. It is also an excellent source of information for anyone interested in the beautiful island and its culture.

Many already popular attractions are covered as well as some lesser known ones. For a traveler seeking to get off the "beaten path" this guide will offer some good ideas on where to find less popular, but equally beautiful, areas of the island.

The version I have is the 1999 edition and it was a huge help during our 14 days in Sicily. The maps are specifically of the towns and show those ever important parking areas. While a small book and so small maps we found it better than the larger road map for Sicily. There are also a lot of pictures in the 239 pages so you can plan out the trip before hand. Both covers fold out and have a map of the whole island.

Crossing over the border is a dangerous business...

...But Lupita must cross from Mexico to America. After her father dies in a fishing boat accident in the seas near their small Mexican village, Lupita's family is left in poverty. Lupita and her big brother, Salvador, must smuggle themselves into the United States to earn money to support their mother and young siblings.

America is not the land of opportunity they had hoped. A new language, hard labor, and the constant threat of la migra -- the immigration police--make every day a difficult challenge. But for feisty Lupita, there is always hope for a better manana -- tomorrow.

I think that lupita is going to America to help her mom and her siblings at México. She goes through hard times to get to the boarder and into the untied states. Also lupita and her bothers Salvador have to avoid the La Migra in the United States and where they also go. Every time the La Migra comes Lupita, and her brothers have to run and hide. They run and hide because there illegal immigrants and not a citizen of the United States. But there grandma is a citizen. She is also very rich. She lives in a big house. Also they help with the chores and picking food from the garden. Life for them is a lot harder after there father had die at sea.

Are you a type of person that likes to read books about families going through a lot of drama and ends up solving everything little by little? Well, Lupita Manana is the book for you. It by a great author named Patricia Beatty. I n Lupita there are a lot of places where things are taken place but where the good stuff starts is a town called Indio in California. As for me the time period would be a depression for Lupitas family. You might be wondering well who is Lupita? Lupita is a young teenager always saying "manana"will be better along with her family living in Mexico.
"Ay de mi"everything for Lupita starts changing when Lupitas father dies on "La Estrella"and Lupita and her older brother lives change when they find out they have to separate from the family to go earn money. With mamas last three words in mind "vaya con dios my daughter". I would be more than happy to tell you if they regret or if things went well when they crossed the border, yes, crossed the border "pobresitos" teenagers! I would say that the genre is a realistic because hey you never know it could happen and it could just be made up. The themes or should I say the big ideas are sadness, mysterious, and death. If your wondering what I thought or what my feelings towards it were I would say I really I did enjoy it. Learning that things could flip the other way around at any moment. What really got me thinking was that my parents went through the same but they were together or married but still teenagers.
Would I recommend it to anyone? Well, if my description gave you enough details then check it out. Things I really loved about this book is that in every chapter something occurred and it got me to keep on reading to see what happened next. A criticism about Lupita Manana, well there isn't much to judge about it all. I can say is that you should read it and trust me you won't regret reading it. Once you start you will want to finish it.

        4 out of 5 stars Lupita Manana.......2006-02-22

Lupita manana is a very interesting book written by Patricia Beatty and it was set in México. To help their poor family, 13 year old lupita and 15 year old Salvador must cross the Mexican border to enter the united states illegally to work and take care of their mother and other siblings back home after their father died in a boat accident.
After they got to the united states, they met a very nice guy who offered them a job in colton.lupita as a maid and Salvador as a dishwasher and they both received a well paying job. After they left Colton to their aunt Consuelo's house, they were forced to live and work as laborers. They worked and paid rent in their aunty's house because their aunty was poor and she lied to them that she was rich.
I would recommend this book,Lupita Manana to teenagers and immigrants because it tells us how some immigrants get to the united states.read Lupita Manana and find out what happens next.

        3 out of 5 stars lupita manana.......2006-02-22

Would you like to know how a girl, and her brother from Mexico, crosses the border to the U.S.? The girl named Lupita, and her brother named Salvador, and lived with there parents. But one day the father worked as a fisherman, and a storm come, and the father's ship was destroyed. The father died. After the father death, Lupita, and Salvador went to the U.S., but the mother can't go with them, she had to work, and stay with the young brother and sister. So Lupita and Salvador cross over, and search for there aunt made them work in the field. To know more about the book, you had to read the book.

This book its okay at first, but it gets interesting at the end, and I recommend this book to all the people, who had to cross to U.S.A., or who didn't. Enjoy reading.

        4 out of 5 stars Lupita Manana.......2006-02-22

Lupita Manana by Patricia Beatty was the book I read. The book started in a small village in Mexico called Ensenada. It's about a girl name Lupita and her family after there father dies in a boat accident her mother doesn't have enough money to support their family. So Lupita and her older brother must across the border to come to California so they can work and send money to there family back home. It's hard for them because of the new language and the migra also there job doesn't pay well. The book was interesting, sad and kind of scary. The interesting part in this book is when they across the border. The parts that where sad is when Lupita's father dies and when they have to leave there family behind. The scary part is when the migra comes where they are living. I recommend this book to any one that is interested in seeing how immigrants work hard to come to the United States.

I think this book was very good. It talks about a girl named Lupita and her brother Salvador have to cross over the border because their father dies. Lupita Manana shows how hard some people have their lives and how easy people have it compared to them. I beleive the ending could have been a lot better unless they have a sequal that I don't know about. But overall it was very good!

        5 out of 5 stars Lupita Manana.......2004-03-16

Lupita Mana and which means "tomorrow will be fine" This novel is greatest. Because in this novel there is a poor family and that lived in Ensenada, Mexico. In that family there is a brother as Salvador and sister as Lupita. They are younger. Their father is a fisherman and there mother works in Aguilar's hotel. Lupita goes to school at that time and she dreamed to be a teacher.
Because of the Lupita's father told Lupita to quit school and start earning money. But their purity increased. They were helpless at that time. Therefore their mother made a decision for Salvador and Lupita to go the U.S.A so that they can earn more money. Because their Aunt Consuelo lived in the California. Salvador and Lupita agreed to go to the U.S.A. They separated very difficultly form their mother.
They faced some problems during their jouney, such as hunger and fatigue. Also some people stopped them and they beat Salvador. With conflicts, finally they arrived to Aunt Consuelo's home. Then they had another problem at Aunt Consuelo's home because Aunt Consuelo's husband was not happy with them.

This book was a intresting story because it talk about a gril name lupita and a boy name salvador and their family. What happend in the story was that salvador and lupita had to cross the border to get to indio to her aut consualo's house because supposably their aunt was rich and would find them good jobs s they could send their momm money. The end of the story coul of be writen better because it didnt said what happend to salvador when he got cought by the border. They coul still fix the ending by making a second book of lupita manana.
