Book Description
Karen Noe was strongly guided by the angels to write The Rainbow Follows the Storm to bring comfort and laughter to those who want to know about what happens to our souls after we cross over to the other side.
Part I, "Opening Up to the Spiritual Realm," recounts the author's spiritual journey and how she became a spiritual medium after experiencing the light and receiving a life-changing message. It includes real stories of messages she has received from those who have crossed over, showing that our souls really do survive and keep the same personality.
Part II, "How to Connect with the Other side," details what the reader can do to receive messages from angels and deceased loved ones.
Part III, "Is This All There Is?" incorporates various related spiritual topics, including God, the Angels, reincarnation, the human spirit, life on other planets, and healing.
Part IV, "May Peace Prevail on Earth," is perhaps the most important. At this very critical period on earth, the oneness of all life means we can create peace within our hearts first, and then peace throughout the entire universe.

Disappointing.......2002-06-24
I bought this book before moving to Chicago six months ago and it has been almost a total lack of help for anything I've tried to use it for. For starters, the neighborhood information is completely out-of-date (I passed up good neighborhoods because of this book!). And unbelievably, this book for NEWCOMERS lacks a comprehensive index and instead organizes everything by neighborhoods. In other words, if you want to know where any major landmark is, you have to look it up by neighborhood--but wait, you don't know the neighborhoods yet because you're new. This was a real brainstorm by whoever organized this book, and it's a real fun way to waste 20 minutes when you're just trying to find an address. There is decent information here, but I can never find any of it when I need to. My advice: skip this title and go straight for Fodor's Cityguide Chicago or The Unofficial Guide to Chicago, both excellent guides with clearly organized and updated information. They would both be loads of help to a newcomer.
Sloppy and full of errors.......2002-06-21
Was this book edited at all? It reads as though it was written in one weekend, with no references other than the Yellow Pages. For example, the author "helpfully" provides us with a listing of good temp agencies--suspiciously, every single one begins with the letter "A". You have to wonder if any real research was done in other parts of the book, or if the author just copied down names and addresses from the phone book (as she clearly did in this section). The writing is repetitive and full of generalizations, and many of her "facts" are just plain wrong. I moved to Chicago three years ago, and I wish I hadn't had this book then.
Not for suburbs!.......1999-04-28
Not a bad guide ... *if* you're moving to the city. Suburbs are not covered at all, except for some off-handed remarks about the "hinterlands".
Also had some errors in radio station listings.

To become a classic?.......2006-12-20
This book was published in 2001. I hope it will become a classic which stays in print for generations. When you buy a copy, you might want to buy two (and save one of them for the next generation) in case it goes out of print as so many books do. I agree with the many enthusiastic comments by the other reviewers.
It is delightful........2003-06-12
This book is a delight to the eye, the ear, the imagination, and feelings. Wow! I already summed it up. The pictures are captivating. The poetic text is fun to read and to hear. The imaginary part, the poetic nature, and feelings remind me of 10,000 White Horses by Betsy B. Lee where a child pretends that the foam in the waves contains white horses which she will catch and ride to shore. I think I enjoy both of these books as much as the children do. Like my title of my review says: it is delightful.
Delightful, Magical, Sure to Be Much Loved By Child & Adult.......2002-04-20
Developing Storytime Programs for children ranging in ages from two to age five, it can be a challange to locate a book which captures the interest of the youngest ones, and gives the older children a "message" they can walk away with.
Snow Ponies worked wonderfully with all age levels. The youngest were mesmerized by the life-like illustrations done by Jason Cockcroft. The older children at the end of the reading galloped, danced and nickered, imitating the ponies' play.
Cynthia Cotten's magical message of 'Old Man Winter' left all captivated and spellbound. We all viewed snow much more positively! Snow Ponies was a delight to present to an audience.

Great Read Aloud.......2001-12-18
Shared (in groups of thirty) with five hundred students 4th -6th grade. Beautiful illustrations capture the magical frolicing of Snow Ponies released by Old Man Winter. The rhythm of a winter storm is felt in this simple tale. Adults smile. Children love it.

The Snow Pony.......2007-03-16
I agree with Dressage Wanabe. This book is good, but not for very young readers. When Dusty's father begins to become an alcoholic and there are some scenes that I would rather not relive, they would signify that this book shouldn't be read by younger readers. Personally, if I had known one of those parts was in there, I would have skipped over it.
And yes, the beginning was a little slow. However, I liked this book. After a prolonged drought, Dusty and her family are in the pits of financial trouble. When Dusty begins competing on the Snow Pony, however, income begins to come back into the family account. Dusty's best friend Sally goes off to boarding school and they begin to slowly seperate, like two friends just drifting away. As things become worse in Dusty's life, including school, financial problems, her father drinking alcohol, ect., Dusty finds that her consolation is in a beautiful mare that only she can ride. Together, the two battle through tough times and end up overcoming one of the biggest challenges of them all.
I think this a good book. I gave it only four stars for some of the mature content, but besides that, mature readers should be able to enjoy this book. Especially if they like horses or reading about family difficulties. Or both!
Great Story.......2007-01-06
A wonderfully written story for anyone who loves horses. My daughter and I read this book together. We had to look up some of the Australian slang words and some of the "scenes" were a bit mature for a pre-teen (family strife involving an alcoholic dad and sexual fondling of a young girl). We picked this book up after reading Alison Lester's other horse book, The Quicksand Pony, which was also very enjoyable - and more appropriate for a younger reader. Although we both enjoyed The Snow Pony, I would recommend it only for the more mature reader.
The Most Wonderful Book Ever!.......2006-05-23
I thought the book was excellent, I could not put it down! There was an exciting part in every section of the book, I could not believe what happened in the middle of the book. The beginning of the book was kind of slow, but it will pick up, trust me. Anyways, about the book, there is a girl named Dusty, she has a brother, a dad, and a mom. Dusty's mom is in show jumping, she trains horses to show jump at their house. Her dad, Jack is a hard worker on their farm. Dusty, her dad, and her little brother go up to the cabin and see a beautiful horse and her mate. Dusty and her father watched them run in the snow, that's how dusty got the perfect horse. Dusty's mother trained the snow pony to jump and she could jump like no other horses in the world could. Well that's all that I'm going to say. Anyone who likes horses this is the book for you. Have fun reading, I'm sure you won't put this thrilling book down.
Great.......2004-06-14
I gotta tell you Dusty is an interesting charcter. She's alot like her father but is much stronger than him in ways of the heart and helps comfort her whole family during the tough times that come in the book while being a teenage girl. She is really inspiring how she never gives up on the snow pony and I must tell you if you want a heartwarming story but one where bonds are constantly being pushed then you'll love this book, you have my word on it.
The Snow Pony.......2003-03-23
I loved the book it had a few boring bits but it was still exciting. Its a fantastic book and probaly my favourite!!!!!

what??????.......2005-12-24
what happened to racing? is this before cassidy moved to kentucky? or is it after? help me pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee. i don't get it
I dont know...........2003-12-31
How did this fit in with the series?
On the cover, Blue (or so I think it's Blue) is seen as being well formed and rather attractive. This is NOT how he is portrayed in the book.
Unfortunately, this book has nothing to do with the rest of the Thoroughbred series, and there is no connection, unless you count Lyssa thinking about Parker and Christina. Lyssa is chasing after a stolen horse, but it ends up the way most books end up- Lyssa ends up liking the thief.
In this book it is revealed that Mitch, the cowhand, actually has a girlfriend, so he and Lyssa won't be getting together anytime soon, unlike what most people thought no thanks to Star's Chance.
This book gets unrealistic like all the TB series- Tony Ransom, the thief, leads Mystic, a lame mare, up a mountain. No no no, this would most definitely not happen in real life. A lame horse could barely walk three meters without being in pain. Lyssa also rides Blue up and down a mountain- big no no. I am an eventer, and I know for a fact that riding a horse up and down a mountain can lead to a serious risk of fracturing a bone or nerve. Lyssa, an eventing pro, should know better than to endanger Blue.
So all in all, its a pretty good read, but watch out for the things that you know aren't true.
great book.......2003-12-06
this book is about Lyssa Hynde, an eventer who lives on a ranch with her family in Wyoming. One day when Lyssa is out Riding her horse Blue, she sees some hoofprints in the snow. She decides to follow them and is lead to the school where she meets a mysterious guy who tells her to get lost. Lyssa gets curious about who the guy is and what hes doing so she decides to follow him up the mountain. But while she is up their she sets off an avalanche which heads staight for her ranch. Will lyssa get home in time to warn her family and will she find out what the mysterious stranger is up to? Read to find out.
I think this book is great and very well written. A MUST read for all horse lovers. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it was written after TB #50 but set before it.

Great Book!!.......2003-01-05
This book was one of my favorites. But I don't get it, in book #50 it was Rolex now Lyssa's training for Rolex. What's up with that? Even though it didn't make sense this book grabbed me from the start. I read the whole thing the afternoon I got it. This is a great book if you like danger and exeitment and you don't mind a little confusion (about Rolex) than this book's for you.
