Finally! A Good Reference for Australia`s Temperate Waters.......2001-05-05
Australias marine life is known world wide for it`s great diversity on the barrier reef. But how many knows that a colourfull fauna also exists in the temperate waters of the south. When I bought this book,many species were new to me,something that made it very interesting. It is a huge book of more than 500 pages and 1200 photographs,so it is detailed,but the photos are very beautifull. There is a detailed text about every species and all information you need to know is here. In this book you`ll find everything from small algae to great white sharks. The fishes are amazingly colourfull,and so are the invertebrates. It is also pretty cheap (I bought it in London for £ 25.95. )for beeing so detailed and rich of information. If you want to see some new species and are tired of all the tropical,try this. I`m sure no one will read this book without learning something new. A real treasure.
Australian Marine Life-REVIEW.......2001-02-23
This book contains information on most if not all species of marine life in Australia particualy, southern Australia. It contains all the phylum genus and species information as well as location and size. A very good referrence book for anyone interested in Australian Marine life.

Daytrips France (4th edition) was the best thing we had with us on our trip to Paris. My husband's uncle gave it to us when we took our daughter to Paris for high school graduation - he had been there before and knew it would be a help. It outlined daytrips marvelously and there was no way we could get lost using this book.

NORTON LIVES ON.......2006-07-17
I liked this book, the sequel to "Norton, The Cat Who Went to Paris." This beautiful Scottish Fold with the folded ears is no longer a baby kitten, but a playful full grown cat who travels the world with his owner. Here the reader will learn of Norton's adventures in Germany, Italy, Holland, Spain and his ability to win audiences along the way. Wherever Norton goes, he is given the red carpet treatment.
Gethers' first book was worth a hundred stars; however, this book was a step down from that simply because the adventures in A Cat Abroad seemed to be focused more on Gethers and his career than that of Norton's adventures. The book is still a fantastic book, but not quite up to par with "The Cat Who Went to Paris."
A book for all ages- whethere cat lover or not.......2006-07-08
A guy friend bought the Norton books for me when I was having a tough day. He said these will cheer you up! I thought it was comical....and they sat on my shelves for awhile. Then I thought he went to the trouble of getting those books specifically for me that I should give them a go. I could not put them down. Norton is intriguing and his adventures are fun to read. Even better is the style, wit and genuis of Peter Gethers. His life is SO interesting. I would ready any book by him any day!
Yet Another Charming Book.......2005-08-09
When I found Peter Gethers had continued his Norton saga, I was overjoyed to discover that the witty writing had not diminished at all. Now with Norton (and Peter) heading overseas to France, the sweet Scottish Fold endears himself to all of the readers again, as Gethers makes his readers groan with comments about how nice Nice is. A definite must red!
Where is Norton?.......2004-08-31
I am a person who really only likes people who like animals. Humans, in my opinion, exist only to be awed by the beauty and mystery of the other animals on the planet. Nuf said? I'm nuts about animals. So I wanted to love this book, I should have loved this book, sadly, I didn't. Mr. Gethers is an entertaining writer, who is an easy and enjoyable read. However, this book is about the author, his travels, his meeting up with famous people, and his robust and endearing love of food. Norton seems quite incidental to the whole book. Certainly, Norton accompanies the author on his journeys, but at the end of the book I felt I knew the author and his friends, but, when I think about Norton, there really is just a blank. Any cats I have ever been lucky enough to share my life with have had personalities I could rattle on for days about. That famous people are charmed that a cat appears in unlikely situations (restaurants, theatres, etc.) seems to be enough to keep the author enthralled with the experience. But having grumped about this book, I will also tell you that it was an enjoyable (if hollow) read. You won't be made angry, depressed, or offended by anything in it (and anymore, that goes a long way for me). This is an entertaining book for a summer's afternoon diversion.

This is an excellent book for cat lovers. a great series of books. Witty and really fun to read. Very well done and cute.

Gault Milau PARIS only is great!.......2001-07-28
If you are visiting Paris, I strongly recommend their Paris book, though I can't speak for this combined volume. It is a particulary good book for those who have previously experience the City of Light and are searching for less "touristy" hotels, restaurants and activities.
For example, I discovered the charming Paris canal boat tour in the GM guide. If you've already done the Bateaux Mouches, this is the kind of excursion that will delight you. They also list chocolate and cheese shops that are well worth a visit.
Get the GM Paris guide if you're looking to add new dimensions to your Paris experience.
Strong only in restaurant reviews; needs better organization.......2001-02-25
At first glance, a travel guide encompassing both Paris and Provence (Riviera included) would seem to be a much welcomed attempt at providing a single book to cover a common itinerary. Unfortunately, it doesn't take long to realize that there are many things missing from what could be a first-rate travel book.
If you're thinking of buying this book, keep in mind that there is little else besides restaurants and hotels in the way of reviews (emphasis on the former). In the Paris section of the book, you'll find almost three times the number of pages devoted to restaurants as there are for hotels. The eateries are arranged by arrondissement, as expected; however, the hotels are instead arranged by class ("luxury," "classic," "charming," etc.), which makes searching for lodging by area impossible. Overall, the commentary is usually quite good, although suprisingly more descriptive for the restaurants. There are also reviews of a select few specialty shops (e.g., flowers, perfume, luggage) which might be somewhat helpful to upscale shoppers. Big ommission: not one map of Paris, even by arrondissement (to my knowledge, the only guide of its kind without one). The requisite metro map was also nowhere to be found.
The organization of the "Out of Paris," Provence, and Riviera regions takes on yet a different convention. In these cases, the cities and towns are arranged in alphabetical order with the hotels and restaurants lumped together. Here, you can actually find city maps with numbered lodging and eating places.
In my opinion, the strength of this book lies entirely in the restaurant reviews. If your interests include anything else besides fine dining, look elsewhere if you're searching for a good, all-in-one travel guide.

COMIC PARTY is a pretty wacky book.
It's drawn by comic fans, and its all about, you guessed it--comic fans who do fan comics! This unique concept never breaks down the fourth wall, as you might expect, but each short story is quick and light-hearted. Of course, you're going to like some stories more than others, and ditto the art...but that's part of the fun when reading any anthology book.
