Book Description
Embracing Heaven & Earth is an original contemporary expression of the timeless wisdom of Enlightenment. The fruition of Andrew Cohen's fifteen years as a spiritual teacher, this book presents a radical psychology of Liberation. It takes the reader on a journey of Self-discovery that reveals not only the liberating fact of our true nature, but the way to live that truth in this world.
Customer Reviews:
Worst yet........2006-06-17
Having read the reviews inside this book I really expected something. All i got was the writing of a confused huge ego searching for answers. Cohen really mis leads people in a big way. This year he says this, last year he said the opposite. It depends on his mood I suppose. sometimes he is into the non duality stuff. Other times he is into re-incarnation /soul theory. It also depends on who he is with. He changes faster than the wind. This guy really is the worst of the worst. If you follow his teachings then you will find as others have found, you really are wasting your time and money. His book may read nicely but when you meet him you will be shocked at his cruelty to others. He seems envious of those who are actually awakened.
This man is false.......2006-06-17
I agree with my fellow reviewers below that Cohen is tricking people. His manner and way of talking to people when seen in action gives it away. He is clearly not awake rather completely asleep. Actually I feel tired just thinking of him. I cannot write anymore.
Just Another guru.......2006-06-02
If an individual remains in an intermediate state between sleep and wakefullness for a prolonged period of time (e.g. theta wave state) he will experience a variety of sensations which are subjectively described as out-of-body, super-awareness, 'Enlightenment', etc.
This prolonged semi-wakefullness, which can be produced by various means such as meditation, hypnosis, yoga, rhythmic chanting, deep breathing, night driving, evangelical preaching or... monotonous hyperbolic 'teaching' , are physiologically accompanied by chemical changes such as the release of endorphins and changes in serotonin levels.
Staying in this state will produce some psychological effects, some of which may even be beneficial. ...but...
Various charlitans over the years have exploited people's surprise at these effects to set themselves up as 'gurus', teachers etc. and try to make people believe that the guru or teacher is putting them in contact with some mysterious 'cosmic force' ...or 'Enlightment'. Of course the gurus can then exploit their followers and get rich as well as get their narcissism and desire for power over others fed.
This game has been played by evangilical christian preachers as well as the indian yogis.
Cohen is just another cheap guru playing exactly the same game and exploiting the emotionally vulnerable. Cohen discovered this little gambit in a two week stint with an indian yogi and has been gaming his followers ever since.
Cohen's content is a totally bogus word salad and beside the point. If Cohen intrigues you... you should probably go to a licensed psycologist and find out why.
another one.......2005-07-04
yes, this is what one gets from a young guy who got enlightened in, what, two weeks with the well known INdian "teacher of Masters" Poonja . a couple of weeks was enough to propel Cohen into the guru circuit in the West... sadly enough, the sensitive and talented young man never got a chance ... to be simply human being who actually works for life. its one thing, as this book shows, to fly the Advaita shuttle, another altogether to live an impeccable life.
the "enlightenement" experience is recounted ad nauseam by Cohen... who tends to forget, conveniently, that Poonja soon denounced him as a fake guru, publicity seeker, a bully and a fraud.
It is not that Cohen is saying wrong stuff - the problem is that, like Rajneesh before him, what he says is close to irrelevant given WHO's talking and what he DOES (for a hilarious read check out his mother's book The Mother of God).
I'd take this book as a striking example of the danger lurking in letting the ego seduce one into a "teacher".... and of getting derailed by sudden, overwhelming, all-powerful realizations. Cohen needs disciples like he needs air... and that is fishy.
be that as it may...caveat emptor
The bedrock of Spiritual Growth.......2002-10-23
I highly recommend this book and all of Cohen's books. His five basic tenants of enlightenment which he teaches in this book and in others are the bedrock of spiritual development and maturity. His teachings lay the ground work for the personal mastery of every human being. Although he does not teach immortality he understands that the primary purpose of the human is to attain freedom. The road in which immortality is achieved. I also suggest you attend one of his retreats.

Beautiful, Stunning and Thought Provoking Photos of Earth.......2001-06-08
This large, coffee table style book, brought to you by one of the authors of the awesome book, The Home Planet, contains numerous, high quality, digitally enhanced photographs of the Earth. While Earth orbiting satellites took most of these photographs, several ground-based pictures have been included to help provide a perspective. Each photographs is accompanied by a detailed description.
This book is divided into three main sections. The first section, Natural Rhythms, examines how natural forces within the land, air, water, and ice and life itself (not just man) affect and change the Earth's landmasses and oceans. The next section, Human Impacts, examines how humans have altered the Earth; in many cases in just a few short years. The final section, Embracing Earth, presents some stunning photographs of our planet that the authors hope will impact the reader to treat our home with more respect.
I found the chapter on the consequences of human activities our planet quite chilling. It was amazing (or sad) to see how much destruction mankind could cause in less than two decades. For example, these photographs show rapid deforestation of the rain forests in Brazil, changes in the water level of the Aral Sea, urban sprawl through out the world, massive glacier loss and forest damage due to pollution. This chapter made me want to out and plant some trees and clean up our local beach. (Note to readers: This reviewer is not some wacky environmentalist, but the facts do speak for themselves.).
If you enjoy photographs of the Earth taken from space, or are interesting in seeing how mankind has altered the face of our planet or fall somewhere in between, then this book is definitely for you.

Book Description
The copelands did what many of us can only dream of - one gloomy Canadian Winter they decided to pack up, rent out their home, buy a boat and go traveling. Liza, her husband Andy and their young children left their regular lifestyle to go sailing on their 40' boat 'Bagheera' for two years. They found their new life so exhilarating they stayed away for six years, completing a circumnavigation of the world and visiting 82 countries. STILL CRUISING is the sequel to the bestselling JUST CRUISING. Here their journey continues from Australia to Indonesia, Singapore, Malyasia, Thailand, The Andaman Islands, Sri Lanka, India, the Maldives, Chagos, the Seychelles, down the East African coast to Madagascar, around the Cape of Good Hope, then back through the Caribbean and Cuba to Florida.
Often sailing to remote and little known destinations, STILL CRUISING recounts some of the Copeland's richest, most exotic cruising and traveling adventures, including their greatest challenges at sea. It also includes a 'How-to' section and glossary.
Customer Reviews:
I want to quit my job and travel........1999-05-24
I read Liza's first book "Just Cruising" and couldn't wait to read the sequel. I really enjoyed reading about her trip around the world. I wanted to leave my job behind and join her family. What an exciting life!
An Excellant Follow-up to, "Just Cruising.".......1998-10-20
This is an excellant follow-up to the book, "Just Cruising." It is written in everyday language with descriptions and annodotes that puts the reader in the boat with the Copelands. As in her first book, Mrs. Copeland covers the subjects most sailors are interested in and leaves out the mudane. No maps and positions, no how to repair or replace, just good fun on a trip around the world. Read, "Just Cruising," first and then this book and you'll be packing the kids and heading for the boatyard...

Customer Reviews:
Fanciful..........2006-09-04
Obviously, this book is a little far-fetched. And I did have some misgivings about young teenagers running off to see a concert, and going with men who are total strangers. I prefer to look at this book as a cautionary tale - basically what not to do. It is very entertaining, and the characters are somewhat relateable. I believe that certain incidents that may occur in real teenage life are included and exaggerated to make for a good read, and as a crystal-clear warning, that the characters' actions are not to be copied.
All in all, I love the whole series, and I recommend the book to anyone who thinks that their petty problems are the most horrific in the world - because Ellie's are way worse.
Bad influence--- Bad girls.......2005-11-21
Hi. I'm Kristal and I'm almost fourteen. I live in the U.S.A and when i read this book not to long ago, I was shocked.
This book contains a lot of innapropriate scenes. At one point, these three idiot girls hop into a car with three older male strangers. this may give girls the impression that it's ok to go with a stranger. Also, These gitls are foutreen and thirteen and they are dating 17-20 year olds. In america, it is illegal but in U.K i guess they aren't bothered one bit.
Bottom line, i wouldn't recomend this book to anyone.Jacqueline is obviously not a mother and has no clue how much danger a young girl coud get into, following these retarted girls.
All though, it is realistic and funy so i had to give it props. The other book, GIRLS UNDER PRESSURE was so incredibly wack.

book reveiw on girls out late.......2004-07-14
name of the book: girls out late
author: jacqueline wilson
date of book when made: 2003
age recommendation: 10+
appetite of the book: the book is good in someparts.
opinions: This book is good because it is funny the story has different chapters and each chapter is about a different day of their life. The book is aboutthree girls who go out late and one girl who is fat gets a boyfriend. Each chapter is different and is about a different day of their life and then the other two get a boyfriend.
Very Late!!!.......2004-04-04
Ellie goes to the mall on a normal day with her two best friends and happens to meet this eleventh grade boy called Russell in McDonalds and they stay out very very late. Now, though this may be romantic to some of the people, I think it is also very freaky, but it is very realistic that's what I like very much about this series, and the coincidences that happen between Russell and Ellie, stuff like misunderstanding Russell stood Ellie up, and Russell's school dance colliding with the Claudie concert Ellie is going with Magda and Nadine can really happen. I just think that the first two chapters are just far too hopeless and staying in the park with a guy you don't know is kind of dangerous, but the end is connected to real life and the decisions were smart and makes a nice story.
For fans of Georgia Nicholson and Alice McKinley.......2003-08-04
In this latest installment in the English series about chubby Ellie, boy-crazy Magda, and elegant Nadine, a lighter issue is the focus of the plot: curfews. Ellie at last has a real boyfriend, but her desire to meet with him is stronger than the desire to get home on time, much to the frustration and worry of her father and young stepmother. A subplot of a crush on the new art teacher is sweet and easy to relate to.
Woodson's engaging heroine is the everygirl equivalent to Phyllis Reynolds Naylor's Alice character, with a British accent and slightly less talk about bodily function. All slang is easily comprehended in context, eliminating the need for a glossary. Darling Ellie is both smarter and more PC than Georgia Nicholson, and there is humor and high drama here as well as fairly normal girls who just want to be loved.
The attractive compact size, low price and catchy covers equal more bang for the buck - once your Alice fans get hold of these, you may need multiple copies. Other titles address anorexia and dating violence. Highly recommended for middle school and up collections.
Girls out Late.......2002-12-23
girls out late is a very interesting book ot is about three very different girls that are friends growing up. ellie one of the girls loves to draw and and she went to the mall one day and she saw a guy in 11th grade and she fell in love just like he loved her! he was so interesting to see how 2 totally different people can make such a great couple! you sould definatly go read GIRLS OUT LATE ~~ BY JACQUELINE WILSON~~
Another Excellent Addition to the Series.......2002-09-16
When Ellie meets a Year Eleven boy in McDonald's named Russell, sparks fly between the two of them. Soon the two of them are boyfriend and girlfriend (what Ellie has always wanted), and are slowly falling in love. But when there's a miscommunication between Ellie and Russell, and Ellie thinks that he's stood her up, Nadine and Magda decide to buy tickets to a Claudie concert to cheer her up. But soon, Ellie finds out that Russell hadn't meant to stand her up, and asks her to the school dance. Unfortunately the school dance is on the same day as the Claudie concert, and if she says she can't go to the concert, Nadine and Magda will never forgive her.
This is a must read book, Jacqueline Wilson has created another writing masterpiece with "Girls Out Late."

Customer Reviews:
Join Ellie, Magda and Nadine for a fun and scary ride through adolescence.......2007-02-16
As you can probably tell from the titles, these books tackle the issues that most teenagers go through: Falling in love, the high and lowlights; feeling you're far too fat compared to your friends and going on a diet; and wanting to see the world at night, but lacking the street smarts or parental approval to do so.
If there's one memory from youth in regards to literature, it's reading the 'Girls Trilogy' and not being able to put it down. These stories keep you engrosed, making you want to find out what happens next to these girls and whether they find their way out of all the troubles they go through. Along with humour, funny little drawings, and realistic storylines, this series is especially good for teenage girls who might be feeling insecure about themselves and unsure what to do in certain situations that come up through the journey of adolescence.
Jacqueline Wilson's books don't claim to be Shakespeare, they are written in a way that teenagers can relate to, the way they speak, the way they would write, the thoughts they would think.
No matter if you're 12 years old or 20 years old (like me!) if you enjoy reading fun teenage fiction, you'll love this.
Save yourself some money and buy all 3 books in one! It's well worth it.
