Large power plants as well as small-capacity boilers have become more efficient and reliable, and their design and operation have been enhanced by the application of modern computational techniques. Among topics covered are historical analysis, cycle design, thermal and hydraulic design of heating surfaces, pollutant control, and flow instability, from which are deduced strategies for further development. Every chapter reflects the author's considerable experience in teaching, research, and consulting. Intended for both students and engineers, the book treats realistic problems and offers a wealth of valuable insight into the design of large and small steam power plants.
Book Description
This textbook represents a major breakthrough in the delivery of up to date and inexpensive material for engineering graphics courses. Each student will receive a workbook bundled with a CD. The 190-page workbook contains an overview of topics covered and problem sets for each area. The CD contains hundreds and hundreds of PowerPoint slides, including written descriptions, graphic presentations, and animations for all topics.
This textbook was developed by E. Max Raisor at Brigham Young University and is currently used in their engineering graphics program.

Excellent resource.......2004-10-04
This is a great resource for learning GD&T. The real meat of the work is found on the CD; it contains what appears to be several thousand PowerPoint slides on GD&T and general engineering drawing. The book only contains problems to be worked, so if you're looking for something to read late at night, this one may not be for you. However, the treatment of the material in the presentations is quite good; it contains several animations as well as slide builds that explain concepts in a MUCH more clear way than a paper based training product could. Highly recommended.

Drafting-Revisited.......2002-02-14
When I studied drafting in school, we used a text by the same authors. I found it great, as it gave enough detail on how to draw, without being wordy, and there were ample pictures & diagrams to help. I'm no artist, by the way, but every now & then I did a couple of problems to do something different.
Time came when I wanted to get back into re-learning drafting, but due to family, and time constraints, there's no way I could again take courses. So, I bought the book.
If you're a beginner, don't be put off by the title.
This is exactly the same as the text and workbooks, by the same authors.
Start at the beginning, and pay attention to basics.
If you're a pro, it will refresh your skills.
This has a workbook with it, so practice isn't a problem.
It's all too true, that one shouldn't attempt to draw CAD until the "Board" has been mastered. Without the basics, you're building on a house of cards. My husband works in an engineering firm and sees this all the time. Some of the ideas inside, may seem outdated, but trust me, the priciples are still the same.
I highly recommend it. Personally, I found it practical, challenging and affordable.

Great book, just out-of-date.......2007-04-22
This travel guide book is a great read before bouncing around the world for the first time, and the resources in the back of the book would be an incredible reference except that it's so outdated that phone numbers and companies no longer exist and no websites are listed! Otherwise it's a great read and reference before traveling.

If you're short on ideas of how to afford to travel (and you've got just a little gumption) you can't miss finding a way to make it happen with this book. It's packed with accurate information that can help you transform your imagination into an affordable plan, then go! I did it and I'll never be the same again... As Bruce says -- you can leave the rat race for awhile -- it WILL be here when you get back. You just don't feel so much like a rat any more!

You've seen the scary TV commercials; you've heard the advertisements. Now you've been chosen as one of the four lucky young daredevils who will test the rides before the park opens. You're supposed to wait until the following day for your escorted tour through Daredevil Park, but one of the other contest winners, Tom Harber, wants to sneak inside and explore the park right now. A thrilling ride!.......2006-04-24
The only thing I did not like about the stories were that all of them were overly dramatic, which does not take away from the reading of the book at all. It's just a personal preference that I would have wanted one of the endings to be a way to enjoy all the rides and go home happy. None of the scenarios are like that. There's all kinds of drama good and bad, and you can't see the whole picture unless you go through at least some of the endings. The ideas the authors thought up of are very interesting and surprising. It's amazing what you can do with a new amusement park built in New Mexico by a gorgeous hotel with video games in your room. In one of the endings, you get to play video games while enjoying a nice bubble bath, and in another story, you're eating pancakes with two other daredevillers. The picture on the cover is actually a bit misleading in the sense that there are only about 7 characters total in the book. There is even a good twin and an evil twin in the book. Whether it's Southern Comfort, Vampire Island, Blackhole [roller coaster], Ski Mountain/Downhill Racer, Amazon Adventure, African Safari Park, or a wacky ferris wheel, I'm already there!
I can't give any other description to this book than "good"........2002-04-01
The comment above may sound like I don't like this book, but this is one of the Top 5 I've read so far. However, that may soon not be in the Top 5 since I read so many of these books. I can't think of any worst part in the book, except that I couldn't get to Page 12. I read every other page then that one, yet I just couldn't get to that adventure. Maybe I just read the "Turn to Page..." directions wrong. But still, that doesn't mean the book is bad. Besides the worst part, the best parts are where you sneak into the park, capture Dr. Bok, and go on the Black Hole. I especially like the "alternate universe". It must be more thrilling than ever to go in that ride. It's too bad this isn't a real story. Well, that's all I can say about this one. Don't miss it.
Daredevil Park.......2001-02-13
I like this book because the rides are cool, and because even though it's not right, sneak into the park to have fun--until you go to Transylvania Island and find Dr. Ivring Bok, and get into some trouble with the vampire too. When I read the book I heard about the Black Hole roller coaster I really knew that ride was going to be exciting. This was one of the favorite books of the series that I read and really liked.

I myself have never read this book, but i have read almost every other in the series and i am amazed at how well they are written
