This is the best book I have seen for pets with cancer or any illness. It is a wealth of knowledge and written by a knowledgeable vet. I have reccomended it to many people who have thanked me repeatedly! You'll be amazed at what's out there for healing cancer in pets. There are so many more options than radiation and chemotherapy (which actually deplete the immune system). This book shows you tips on things that prevent and can reverse conditions, even serious ones. Every pet owner should have this one for sure!

Wonderful Book on How to Get Truly Healthy.......2007-09-12
This is a great book. It is written by a naturopath who grew up as a child in Yugoslavia and lived very close to nature as a child. She calls 'em as she sees 'em and I find her perspective and approach very refreshing and very needed in today's over-medicated and over-processed world. One could use just this one book to become well from almost any malady. However I would not buy it here unless Amazon.com starts selling it again because the people who are selling it used are selling it for over 20 bucks more than the author sells the book for on her own website.

A book that should be made required reading in High School and then taught as a class on health and how the body works. Health is one of the worlds greatest resources and it is being stolen in the name of profit and ingnorance of Natures laws. Read it and then give a book to someone who needs it. Jake
Great strart!.......2006-10-15
This is a very pleasant and quick read on the true cause of disease and illness. It's a great place to jump off from and explore more about how the human body works in accordance with nature and what happens when humans go off track. Written in simple language one gets an understanding of how to heal oneself and become free of the lies and diseases of mainstream society (including cancer). Having implemented these practices over 5 years ago, I can personally attest to the truths spoken of in this book and highly recommend them to everyone. Health and happiness are yours by following the instructions outlined in this work.

I am not an herbalist, but I would reccommend this book to anyone. It didn't overwhelm me with too much information, but it had a lot of good information on the topics I am interested in. Every chapter was helpful to me in some way. I am glad I found it on the shelf.
It could be better.......1997-06-27
I read the book because a friend ordered it from Rodale, while I liked the book, for general purposes, it really didn't have any guts to speak of.
When I went thru the book, I didn't feel there was enough information or the information wasn't as complete or informative as it could have been, especially for the price that Rodale was selling it for. *substantally higher than here, and the suggested list price I might add* Yes it had a few tidbits of information that were interesting, but, in my opinion, if you want this book to answer all your questions about specific areas that are listed, you would be better off purchasing a specialty book for the various areas that this book covers or supposedly covers.
My friend who isn't an herbalist, but, does read up on various areas of health, fitness, and herbs, was unimpressed enough to send the book back to them, within their trial period. Also she is the type that usually will keep everything even if its just for 1 or 2 bits of information she hasn't found elsewhere.

Good for reference but not bible...........2002-12-06
This book discusses each herb by what ailment it can help. From aches and pains, insomnia, and yeast infections; this book lists remedies to over 100 problems. Each herb summary is easy to read and lists the type, dosage, other healing effects, how long it takes etc. It even gives you recipes and information on making your own remedies. There is also a neat section on pet herbal remedies. The only thing that concerned me is that there wasn't alot mention of how the herbs might interact with other herbs or prescriptions you maybe taking. Myself taking an anti-depressant, I know that it is not reccommended taking St. John's Wort. All it says is to check with your doctor as you would any drug. Overall it was a good reference book, but as I have said before never get all your information from one book.

Pregancy Wishes and IVF Dreams is an honest and touching account of a couples difficulties with conceiving a child. I have not had to experience infertility directly, but I have a sister and a friend who did. I could also relate to and empathize with Kelley's story as the mother of two children. Kelley Taylor's book is an inspirational story about the challenges that life can present to the reader. It's a must read book for anyone who is facing infertiltity as well as those who have a loved one or friend who is experiencing infertility.

Although it is not as definitive as the editors would have you believe, "Nature's Medicines" quite thoroughly covers a number of herbs, vitamins and other supplements. The book is divided into 3 sections for easy reference: What You Need to Know About Supplements; The Powerhouse of Nature's Medicines; and Fighting Disease with Supplements. The first chapter discusses the role that vitamins, minerals and other supplements play in your health. The second chapter discusses the efficacy of numerous supplements, to include side effects and interaction precautions. The third chapter is a very thorough discussion of numerous diseases/ailments (such as AIDS, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, headaches, cancer, Alzheimers, etc.)and what supplements are most beneficial to those suffering from them. If I could only have one book on natural supplements, this is the one I would choose: it's a very useful reference.

Wonderfully clear views into the hearts of children.......2000-05-24
The poems scattered across the pages of this volume are rich in their simplicity and openness. They aren't polluted by the pretense of professionalism or the so-called "wisdom" of age.
Truly delightful book for adults and children alike.

Thie poems in this book are sometimes translucent, often remarkable and easy to read, and frequently wisdom-bullets that pierce the heart.
There is more sweet wisdom here in single poems than one often finds in the dense works of the professional poet.
A definite must-have book.

Sandy Lyne's compilation of student poetry is wonderful in displaying the uninhibited candor and emotion of school age children. I'm doubtless a bit biased as a poem I wrote while in school is included in the book. Sandy visited for several weeks and encouraged us to be open in expressing ourselves, making each student know that they had "the soul of a poet". It was a memorable experience for me, and I'm grateful to be included in this delightful collection.
Touching, insightful, eloquent children's poetry.......1996-09-17
I found this from NPR's Sunday Edition interview with the compiler, Sandy Lyne.
What motivated me to get this book was the haunting eloquence of observations of their (children grades 3-12) lives.
I was not disappointed.
The book is divided into the following chapters:
Angels in Bloom, Poems about Childhood; My Place, Poems about Home & Family;
Black & Blue, Poems about Challenges; Then You're a Leaf, Poems about Nature & Beauty;
Holding Hands, Poems about Friendship & Love; The Secret Kingdom, Poems about Solitude & Spirit.
The book's title is taken from a poem by an eighth grade boy titled, "Rainshowers."

last forever, seconds
at a time, and
almost like a poem
which is long
at heart."
This is a great sample of the treasures of heartsongs and lifesongs
that you find in this book.
