Book Description
Retirement does not have to mean the end of lifein fact it can mean a whole new beginning to the life you never had time to explore. In HOW TO RETIRE HAPPY, WILD, AND FREE, best-selling author Ernie J. Zelinksi shows that the key to enjoying an active and satisfying retirement is dependent on much more than just having adequate financial resources. It means paying attention to all aspects of life, including leisure activities, creative pursuits, physical and mental well-being, and solid social support. With its friendly format, lively cartoons, and captivating quotations, Zelinski's guide offers inspirational advice on how to follow your dreams instead of someone else's, how to put your retirement in proper perspective, and how to enjoy life after work.

One of the best books on retirement attitudes.......2007-10-16
I love this book!
Most speak about planning, goals, etc but this one discusses the emotional aspects of retirement and how to process your thoughts when you have time on your hands.
This should be required reading for everybody....retired or not!
The Best Book Available on the Non-financial Aspects of Retirement.......2007-08-08
I first noticed that "How to Retire Happy, Wild, and Free" appeared in Amazon.com's "Customers who bought this item also bought" list for virtually any other significant book on retirement. So I bought Zelinski's book. I was not disappointed.
Two reviewers state that this book is the same as Zelinski's international bestseller "The Joy of Not Working". This is not true. Although the two books have some similarities, "How to Retire Happy, Wild, and Free" is strictly for the retired or soon-to-be retired, whereas "The Joy of Not Working" is directed -- not only at the retired and the unemployed -- but also at working people who want a great work/life balance.
If I were a personal coach who gives advice to the newly retired, I would recommend "How to Retire Happy, Wild, and Free" to my clients as the best non-financial retirement book. If I was a corporate human resource manager, I would be purchasing this book in quantity to give to all of my company's retiring employees.
In short, "How to Retire Happy, Wild, and Free" is the best book I have read on the personal aspects of retirement. The chapters are devoted to the consideration of activities that enhance body, mind, and spirit. Zelinski quotes from many sources, but his attitude is reflected in this excerpt from his own writing:
"You will have attained true freedom in this world when you can get up in the morning when you want to get up; go to sleep when you want to go to sleep; and in the interval, work and play at the things you want to work and play at -- all at your own pace. The great news is that retirement allows you the opportunity to attain this freedom."
The same as Joy of not Working.......2007-08-05
This is pretty much the same book. So get one or the other but not both.
GOOD, nOT GREAT.......2007-06-22
This is one of the better books on retirement. It's presented in a light, informal manner which I enjoyed. It's also a fast read. And with retirement looming one doesn't always have time to pour over a lenthy, dry book.
I'sd recommend this book for the semi savvy near retiree. If you're a complete beginning without a lot of knowledge about saving or nivesting this may not be oyur best bet.
And for anyone interested in getting a better return and finsding financial security i recommend The Millionaire Mind. The Millionaire Mind
How to Retire Wild, Happy and Free.......2007-05-15
Very good advice for anyone either retired or within 5 years of retirement. Much infomation on the softer side of retirement most people don't consider before termination of thier work life.
Book Description
Runes are not only a writing system used by some of the ancient Germanic peoples-they are also known as the Mysteries. Carved on wood, metal or stone, the rune staves (or stones) are a powerful divinatory tool, and are steeped in a rich folkloric tradition. The Runes Workbook provides illustrations throughout and a fascinating insight into these Mysteries including the history of the Runes, the significance of the runic poems and runic literature, the meanings of the individual staves, and methods for runic divination. The Runes Workbook also explores the connections between the Runes, mythology, archaeology and magic, and provides an insight into runic psychology for beginner and devotee alike.

good beginner.......2007-05-25
good beginning tool....
I enjoyed this book to get started. I loved the workbook portion the best it made me work meditate and think about what I was truly after. The rune discriptions were alright, I did find a better reference but like I said a great beginner book and I am glad that I worked it
Great book!.......2005-10-25
I love this book. I use it for reference all the time because it's so simple to read. It doesn't get into long winded paragraphs, all the information is right there and easy to find. It also has some neat artwork for each rune and a few pages dedicated to each. Each rune has a paragraph or two of description, practical applications of the rune in daily life, then some galdor exercises which I've found to be very helpful because not alot of books deal with galdor. This book has a great section on runic divination and methods of casting. The author also touches on psychology a bit, and he encourages further study and writing your experience with the runes in a journal.
One of the best things about this book is he doesn't get hung up on personal opinions, tell you not to do this or that, or criticize anything. It's very to the point.
This book is essential to a runic library!
Great introduction for Beginners.......2005-08-02
This is one of the clearest and simplest books that I have seen for those just beginning to study runes. I do have some complaint about the Rune Guild basis that the author has, and his use of some of Thorsson's more questionable material. But in all, it's still one of the best books out there for beginners. The vast majority of the "facts" presented really are documented historical facts, not things that someone just came up with on their own, like you see in so many rune books. If the bit about "Runic Psychology" (or something else) bothers you, skip it and go on to the rest! The activities and exercies for beginners really set this book apart from others.
Excellent for a Beginner.......2005-07-11
As someone new to Asatru and the Runes, I found this book to be excellent in presenting both. Easy to read and illustrated, this book helps a beginner to understand the culture and context of each rune. It offers information in a easily grasped manner without dumbing down the concepts.
I especially found the chapter on divination to be useful. Starting with the Hammer Rite and the prayers, and ending with the Thank Yous to the Norse Gods, my divination experiences were better grounded and more connected. If you are starting out learning the Runes, I would buy this book to get the concepts before buying the 'more indepth' books usually recommended.
Well crafted.......2005-07-07
Another quality book from Australia. Firmly rooted in the "Odian" system formed by Edred Thorsson around 1980. Like Thorsson, Leon is a long time member of both the Rune Gild and the Temple of Set, and is indeed the representative of both organisations in Australia. His experience shows.
The book continues the Odian general insistance on sound historical scholarship, without being too heavily infused with its neo-satanic philosophy. It is easier to read, and better written than most of his mentor's work, and offers more practical excercises, although not as academic in style. This book will appeal to many who wish to use the runes for self-help, particularly those who relate to Thorsson's system.

Book Description
After finishing school in New York, Rabbi Harvey traveled west in search of adventure and, hopefully, work as a rabbi. His journey took him to Elk Spring, Colorado, a small town in the Rocky Mountains. When he managed to outwit the ruthless gang that had been ruling Elk Spring, the people invited Harvey to stay on as the town's rabbi. In Harvey's adventures in Elk Spring, he settles disputes, tricks criminals into confessing, and offers unsolicited bits of Talmudic insight and Hasidic wisdom. Each story presents Harvey with a unique challenge--from convincing a child that he is not actually a chicken, to retrieving stolen money from a sweet-faced bubbe gone bad. Like any good collection of Jewish folktales, these stories contain layers of humor and timeless wisdom that will entertain, teach and, especially, make you laugh.

Fabulous, Fun and Even a Little Educational.......2007-08-18
I loved, loved, loved this "graphic novel" (not so much a novel but a collection of stories). The Adventures of Rabbi Harvey is a collection of Jewish folktales told as Western adventures featuring Rabbi Harvey of Elk Spring Colorado. Rabbi Harvey's stories involve his own travels and encounters with double-crossers and odd types like the boy who insists he is a chicken, as well as moral dilemmas brought to him for his rabbinical ruling. Since I'd read/heard some of the stories previously, I am assuming that many of them are based on traditional Jewish folktales but some seem to be original stories. It's a nice mix and all are deftly and humorously illustrated, with funny asides from the rabbi, onlookers, even the occasional animal or inanimate object (when a traveling merchant attempts to cheat a woman out of a bag of money he is supposed to deliver, throwing only one coin on the table, the head on the coin wonders, "Why am I not surprised?"
There is a distinct Jewish flavor to the tales, set in a neverland of all-Jewish Western towns, and I definitely recommend this book for older kids and adults alike who want a fun and easily digested book of Jewish stories. But even for non-Jews, this is an entertaining book of stories with moral points of view, told with a sense of humor. HIghly recommended, this one is a keeper for me and I sincerely hope there are more Rabbi Harvey books to come.
A wonderful book for people of all religions.......2007-07-08
I loved reading this book. It was funny, engaging, and worth owning. The cover caught my eye, and I love how the novel is drawn. Very cute!
Rabbi Harvey, the Western Chacham.......2007-01-04
The stories here serve up some of the best short (and very short) "wisdom stories" of the Yiddish tradition, presented in the unfamiliar environs of the Old West of the USA. Arguments are settled, bullies get their comeuppance, and the good guys (the ones with the black yarmulkes) win. A great intro to Jewish short stories and novels, and much of it is very funny (even if you can see the punchline coming from 200 cubits.) Get your kids (and the kid in you) interested in Jewish Literature in a painless fashion.
A hilarious read!.......2006-11-17
This book is really great. It is perfect for kids and adults, and you don't need to know anything about religion to enjoy it. When I started reading the book, I couldn't put it down until I was finished. The stories are simple, straightforward, and funny. I especially love the drawings. Many of the hidden details in the pictures made me laugh out loud.
Fun for all ages (and belief systems).......2006-11-09
A collection of deliciously odd, stylized drawings, dry wit and perfectly paced mini-morality tales that I thoroughly enjoyed. Rabbi Harvey starts out an undistinguished neophyte and ends up taming the West with wisecracks and Talmudic wisdom, even as he's forced to think on his feet to cheat death. I'm not Jewish, but I loved this book and can't wait until my daughter is old enough to meet Rabbi Harvey.

WARRIORS GONE WILD.......2007-05-10
FROM THE BACK COVER:
Journey back to the Knights of the Magical Realm where Tina Gerow, Linda Wisdom, Brit Blaise & Dakota Cassidy bring the heat in this new installment where a human bodyguard hired to keep an eye on the Lord of the Underworld's step sister...A Time Traveling Highlander out to win a cover model contest, and regain control of his sword...Seven foot warriors from the future here to protect our present...And meeting the man of your dreams in a video game that surpasses all virtual reality...Four stories, Four Warriors, Four women suddenly pulled into worlds they never imagined. Anything could happened with Warriors Gone Wild.
I norally only read Contemporary romance, so I don't even know why I bought Warriors Gone Wild, but I'm glad I did, I enjoyed all four stories, sometimes with anthology there's always one or two stories I don't like, but in this book I liked all four stories. If your into romances with a bit of a plot you will like these stories.
Book Description
"I've started horses since I was 12 years old and have been bit, kicked, bucked off and run over. I've tried every physical means to contain my horse in an effort to keep from getting myself killed. I started to realize that things would come much easier for me once I learned why a horse does what he does. This method works well for me because of the kinship that develops between horse and rider. " --Buck Brannaman
In THE FARAWAY HORSES, Brannaman shares his methods for training and provides a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Robert Redford's movie The Horse Whisperer, for which he was the technical advisor.
*Authoratative figure in horsemanship
*Reveals the key to understanding animals
BUCK BRANNAMAN is a horse gentler--not a horse "breaker"--who has started more than 10,000 young horses in his clinics. He lives with his family in Sheridan, Wyoming.
WILLIAM REYNOLDS is the associate publisher of Cowboys & Indians magazine. He lives with his family in Santa Ynez, California.

Great for aspiring Cow-girls & -boys!.......2006-12-29
Buck invites us on a journey of his life that is less than perfect and yet terribly intriguing. His honesty is refreshing and his story is not tainted by the misgivings of others. This book demonstrates his desire to overcome a difficult childhood, his love of horses, and his compassion for all. He is certainly not a "Hollywood cowboy," though his skills have brought him into unintended notoriety. Inspiring for all horse lovers.
a beautiful honest story-about horses, yes, but truly about humans.......2006-12-27
The faraway Horses is what the author's young daughter refered to when she spoke of her father's job that took him away so often. As a horselover, trainer, teacher etc.. the term rang true to how faraway we can get, horse and equine alike, from where we want and need to be. Buck Brannaman's stories are introspective and beautifully told. A powerful book moving and beautiful.
Buck's way has changed my life. .......2006-07-06
Like many others, I recently jumped on the "natural horsemanship" bandwagon. I grew up riding horses, but after an 11-year hiatus I finally was able to have a horse of my own again-- and found that I had gaping holes in my knowledge and understanding. In my search for enlightenment I tried on Parelli, Clinton Anderson and others. I invested a lot of time, money, sweat and tears, but was ultimately disappointed with what they had to offer. They each do have something good to offer, but they don't have the whole picture. Buck's work has honestly changed my life. It has changed my perspective so entirely, and changed how I react and interact with people as well as horses. I can not come close to doing justice to Buck's way in one paragraph. Please read this book, and Buck's other book "Believe." While you're at it, read Tom Dorrance's book "True Unity" and anything by Ray Hunt (both were Buck's teachers). You won't see Buck on TV very often, clothes and tack emblazoned by sponsors like the other "clinicians." Buck is just out there for the horse.
Psychology for people and horses.......2005-10-04
A feel-good book, but also interesting and informative in a folksy kind of way. I'm a horse person, but I think non-horse people would get just as much out if this. It's about how you should deal with life as much as about how you should deal with horses.
The Faraway Horses.......2005-08-16
A brave insight into the childhood and early adulthood of the author. Inspirational reading.

Goddess Initiation is both "a self-help program and a Celtic shamanic journey," writes Francesca De Grandis. The month-to-month chapter format reads like a yearlong self-improvement project. Each chapter contains a month's worth of spells, practical exercises, rituals, and prayers that guide readers toward the goddess initiation. De Grandis (Be a Goddess) offers a well-rounded lesson plan that emphasizes creativity, career success, increased sexual passion, and the clarification of one's calling or "priesthood." "For example, one reader's priesthood might mean being a stay-at-home mother who devotes her time to raising her children, while another woman might minister by recycling or saving the rain forest," explains De Grandis. Goddess Initiation is based on De Grandis's work as a teacher at The Third Road in San Francisco, where she specializes in Celtic mysticism. Count on plenty of faery talk, a healthy dose of woman-to-woman humor, and an entirely enchanting, down-to-earth narrator. --Gail Hudson

Great )0(.......2006-11-07
This is a great book! I personal began with the book "Be A Goddess" and looked to this book as a sequel. But the author clearly states, you could read in either order.
The Proof is in the Pudding.......2006-06-03
This is my favorite book. While I have worked with both this book and BE A GODDESS, this is my favorite one. I love the prayers, and having worked through the book I find that it has brought me deep into the world of magic and the fey.
To find your way to feri you don't need (or usually get) a road map--what you need is an open mind and a proud, loving heart. Working with this book helped me to find my way to being both proud of who I am, and to being better able to love those around me.
My grandmother used to say "The proof is in the pudding." I never understood what she was talking about until tonight. Some of the other reviews of this book complained about details of language, or other such surface things. But that's like complaining about a recipe without ever having made it or eaten the food based on that recipe. Let me tell you, I read the recipe that is this book, I cooked the recipe using the rituals in this book, and I am DELIGHTED with how the results taste! the proof of how good this book is can be found in the success people have had who worked through it. The proof is in the pudding.
A good starting point.......2005-12-03
The exercizes in this book are a good starting point on the path to the Goddess and to personal healing and transformation. It has been about three years since I last was working with this book, but every now and then I like to refer to it to get some ritual ideas. I found that I could not really hang on every word I read, but had to use a take it or leave it aproach. For the most part I enjoyed the subject matter. This book is better than most of the stuff out there but is not quite precious gem quality.
This is the REAL thing!.......2004-07-15
After working through the year long training in this book, I have found myself less stressed out, more focused, and more in charge of my own life. There are a lot of meditation books out there, but this book is different in that it promotes practical rituals and meditations that don't require a lot of accoutrements to get the job done. Francesca speaks to the heart and makes spirituality accessible. You won't find lists of boring facts in this book. It is not a reference work, but a true training in the Craft.
I recommend it highly and with total enthusiasm for the dedicated Seeker. It is not your average "teen witch" book. There is deep healing here, and the author focuses on what really counts. Very readable and very do-able.
Francesca is a poet, a shaman, and a wonderful teacher!.......2004-03-27
A little over four years ago, I worked through the 15 weeks of lessons in Francesca's first book, Be a Goddess: A Guide to Celtic Spells and Wisdom for Self-Healing, Prosperity, and Great Sex, and found, to my great surprise and pleasure, that these lessons were fun, inspiring, and, most of all, life-transforming. The psychology was sound, the spirituality was amazing, and the teacher was warm and caring.
With the very positive experience I had working through Be a Goddess, I was very excited when Goddess Initiation was released. Designed to take a little more than a year to work through, Goddess Initiation has even more to offer than its predecessor. I didn't think that was possible!
Goddess Initiation is essentially a workbook to help you gain personal insights, remove your inner blocks to joy and healthy sexuality, and discover your own creative passion for living. A shamanic method of self-empowerment and spiritual growth, the tools in this book are valuable regardless of your gender, sexual preference, or cultural or religious background. Francesca says, "Mine is an interfaith Goddess, who is perfectly happy helping all people regardless of their religious beliefs or lack thereof."
Francesca is warm, intuitive, and truly magical! As someone who has not only worked through her books but has also worked extensively with her in person, I can tell you that the work she presents in her books is a result of many, many years of dedication to the Old Gods and to helping her students, her readers, and anyone else who comes into her sphere of influence to develop their innate talents, spiritual growth, and healthy self-esteem.

In a pinch.......2000-08-18
This small easy to read booklet contains the basics you will need if you come across an injured or orphaned bird. Some of the information is redundant, like the constant reminder that you're not qualified to do this so call a rehabilitator. There is also a section on large birds such eagles, which probably isn't relevant. But overall it does give you what it promises, the basics the keep a bird alive until you can get it to help.
