Awesome Book For The Perfect Trip !!!.......2007-09-21
Birnbaum's Walt Disney World is all you'll need to plan the perfect Walt Disney World vacation!
This book tells you everything you need to know from A - Z. After reading it, you'll feel like you just got back from Walt Disney World.
Birnbaum's Walt Disney World is perfect for first time visitors or for returning vacationers. It will help you pick a hotel, decide which rides to ride, where to eat and when to go. This book is a priceless vacation tool.
You will find because Walt Disney World is always changing that some of the information is outdated, just make sure you get the most recent edition. For instance, if you're going in 2008, get the 2008 edition instead of this 2007 edition.
This is a fabulous book!
The Bable for a trip to Disney.......2007-08-31
There is all the information you can possibly need for a successful trip to Walt Disney World under one cover.
This is an especially useful tool for first timers to the the Parks.
It does not provide much information for those who are planning to include other sightseeing or staying outside of Disney.
If you are planning to stay exclusively in Disney you will find everything you need to know in this book.
To the person that even hinted that this guide was not good enough.......2007-08-15
Just a note to the person who said this guide did not have the downsides listed on hotels+restaurants (and the attractions) in the birnbaum guide...Birnbaum is a DESCRIPTION of everything they were able to review...NOT a "You should go here but not there" guide. -After reading about each item, it should totally be up to you where you stay, where you go to eat and what you ride+see....not someone else. -I can describe to you how to tie your shoes but it should be up to you to decide what the up and downsides to doing this is...(aka personal preference.."Oh,let me see....should I tie my shoes slow or fast? -Should I tie them in the AM or PM?" -Get it? -THIS BOOK IS THE MOST INFORMATIVE OF ALL THEY OFFER I'VE EVER SEEN!!!! -It's a GREAT GUIDE (again...NOT AN ITENERARY or to tell you what to do for your day or wether you should avoid an attration or not while at Disney)!!!!!!!!!! -BIRNBAUM ROCKS!!!! (for those of us who understand why and how it was written and who don't need everything spelled out for us so we don't make a mistake while on vacation). -Thank You.
Birnbaum's Walt Disney World 2007.......2007-08-11
This book is a wealth of information on Disney World. Provides enough info to help you plan your stay a disneyworld.
Very disappointed.......2007-07-30
Lame! Published by some offshoot of Disney, this is just a thrown together piece of propaganda. I wasn't expecting anything critical, but the information is so weak! There's no depth and the "tips" have no real insight. Plus the dumb-downed design looks so amateur the book made me embarrassed to be seen with it. Try The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2008 (Unofficial Guides) or The Complete Guide to Walt Disney World instead.

Fun for the kids.......2007-07-19
When planning our annual trip to Disney I alway order one of these as there are great kids tips and fun things for the kids to look at and anticipation of the big trip. We are huge fans and go every year our daughter is already planning the next trip out she is only 3. This guide book is her favorite thing to look and and remember wonderful times.
Disney World for Kids.......2007-07-16
My three grandchildren are going to Disney World in October this fall. I wanted to get something that was easy for them to read and understand. I can't wait until I can give them their own book. Their mom and I decided that we will take the suggestion in the book and wait until 10 days before we actually go. Their ages are 15, 10, and 7 and its the first time for them at Disney. This book has a lot of helpful hints and the more organized we are when we go the less time we will be wasting. 7 people altogether and thats a lot of people making decisions. I am writing an agenda so we don't miss a thing. Don't take everything the reviewers say as gospel. It's all a decision for each kid to make but this will help a lot. The cost is so much, we all want to make the most of a 7 day trip.
This is THE BEST Guide for Kids to Disneyworld.......2007-07-16
If you are planning a trip to Disney World and have kids...this is the book to buy! We have had so much fun reading, planning and preparing for our trip to Disney World. My little girl has memorized every page of this book and can't wait to take it to Disney with us for Character Autographs, Hidden Mickey Hints and so much more! This book is great for kids and adults, too. Lots of pictures, tips on Disney, entertainment for all, very helpful for your little one to feel involved in the trip planning. Also see the other Birnbaum Books...they are all terrific and fun for everyone...don't forget to take the book with you when you go!
The Standard.......2007-05-17
This is the standard. It's still the best guide to Disney World. Birnbaum's Disney guides have been a standard in our household for years.
Great Disney Book for Kids.......2007-05-16
We bought this book for our grandson before his first visit to Disney World. It gave him a great introduction to the parks without overwhelming him. The book not only lists hints and ideas of what to do and see, it also includes what kind of food is available and where to get it! All the parks are discussed and there are descriptions of many of the rides. Kids' comments are on almost every page. The format is kid friendly and easy to read, the illustrations are good, and actually it's fun to read as an adult, too. If our grandson's fanny pack had been larger, he would have carted it around all day since there were pages at the back of the book to collect signatures from the characters. By the way, he told us he loved the book and read every page more than once!

About the Author:
Kim Wright Wiley, mother of two, wrote the first edition of Walt Disney World with Kids in 1989, and 17 editions later she's closing in on her 50th visit to the parks, a statistic that stuns even her. Her Disney favorites? "I'm addicted to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, my favorite character is Eeyore, and if I have anything big to celebrate, I do it at the California Grill." When not at the theme parks, she lives in Charlotte, NC.

helpful and organized.......2007-10-10
We went to Disney in a large group, and our family was by far the most well-informed and organized! Based on the books clear recommendations for age-appropriate RIDES and DINING we planned each day and even recommended to our other fellow travelers what they might enjoy with their kids. It was great because we were able to maximize our time on rides instead of just wandering around! How SMART we felt when we followed some of the tips from the books and saved ourselves lots of headaches. We looked like pros to the others in our group, and they thanked us for being so organized. We photocopied a few of the key pages to take to the parks with us so we could refer back to phone # and recommendations for restaurants, etc. This book is easy to read, well planned out, and thorough. I gave my copy to a friend in Mexico and she said she doesn't know how they would have made it through their vacation without it!
Great family times at Disney.......2007-09-06
Must have for families headed to Disney. This book helped us decide what to focus on with the kids and not do too much. We took a five yr old and almost two year old and they did not have any break downs! We just had a great time.
Essential planning guide for toddlers.......2007-09-05
This is a great book to plan for a disney vacation with little kids. We have used two editions now, and take it with us to leave in the stroller for reference. Even though we are veteran Disney travelers as adults, this really helped plan for our preschoolers.
This was the BEST BOOK to read before our trip to Disney World!.......2007-07-02
This book is a must-read for anyone (with OR WITHOUT KIDS) who is going to visit Disney World. It has information on everything! From tips on drinking water inside the park (a must to know if you have ever been to Disney Land!), to the ins and outs of hotels to choose from (both on and off site), to restaurant details, to what each ride is like along with height and weight requirements for each. You are able to get all kinds of information in order to plan your up coming visit and make informed decisions accordingly! We were able to loosely plan our vacation so that we weren't wasting precious time while in the park, trying to figure out what attractions to see and where to eat. WELL WORTH the money and the time to read this book. I plan on buying an updated copy everytime we get to go back to Disney World so I can keep informed and up-to-date on everything!
Pretty good, on many counts.......2007-06-14
A useful guide for anyone planning a trip to Disney World. Especially helpful are the charts in each chapter that give detailed information on attractions. The information includes a brief rating on the ride or show, the length, and any minimum height requirements. As I got this "2007" guide for Christmas, six months before our trip, I should say that there were some pieces of information that were outdated when I got it in 2006.
However, the publisher has done a respectable job to gather and include information from families who have visited Disney. These insights apply to the parks and surrounding resorts. Its not perfect, but proved to be one of several useful tools in planning our family vacation.
Book Description
Second in this line of pocket-size paperbacks, this one answers the question: What would it be like to walk through Epcot with an Imagineer by your side? A lot of fun, actually! And extremely interesting. The Imagineering Field Guide to Epcot provides that experience: explaining large concepts and pointing out subtle details; revealing stories, back stories, and Imagineering insights never before heard; and showing sketches, paintings, and schematics used to develop the look of each attraction, condensed into a portable, easily referenced park guide. These user-friendly, beautifully illustrated guides are innovative and entertaining books that will enrich the Guests time at one of the happiest places on earth. Who better to tour you around the Disney parks than the Imagineers who created them?

Fun read, but scratches the surface........2007-07-23
I love to read about the designing and background to the evolution of the Parks & Pavillions. Each one gets 2-4 thin pages. I'm still looking for the book that gives the depth that Jason Surrell did for his "Pirates OTC" book.
If you're a WDW fanatic, you'll enjoy this........2007-05-13
I'm a certified Disney nut who enjoys reading about anything Disney - films, Walt, and (of course) Walt Disney World. That said, I bought "The Imagineering Field Guide to the Magic Kingdom" about a year ago, and I really enjoy it. I think it evokes the magical feeling you get when you walk down Main Street USA. If you can't be in The World, taking a virtual walk through it isn't a bad option.
Since I enjoyed that book so much, I wanted to buy the "Epcot" version. I was curious to see how good a job it would do at describing Epcot's origins - IE, go back to the EPCOT days and discuss Walt's determination to build a city that would function more efficiently than the cities of his day did. I thought the book did a decent job with that. It doesn't spend a huge amount of time on the subject, but I think that's appropriate. It's meant to be a happy (and brief) overview of a neat place, not an avenue through which to lament the EPCOT that could have been.
Epcot visitors will expect the book to be divided into two basic sections - Future World and World Showcase. It is. It talks about the three different sections of Future World (East, West, and Central), and it provides information on each World Showcase pavilion. Other topics - like Kidcot stops and Illuminations - are also considered. Tidbits of information are presented on all major attractions. I thought that it skimped a little bit on a couple of headliners, particularly Mission: Space and Test Track.
The biggest 'con' I associate with this book is that, for me, it fails to evoke the feeling that you get when you're at Epcot. The biggest 'pro' is that it's an informative, fun read about Walt Disney's most ambitious undertaking. For $10, it's a worthwhile addition to your Disney library.
Epcot.......2007-01-30
This book has amazing information on the building of Epcot...what went into it and how it grew from conception to finalization. A great Disney lover book!
Great Behind the Scenes Info for New Guests.......2007-01-15
The Imagineering Guide to Epcot at WDW is a great book for those who would like information about EPCOT behind the scenes, from the point of view of those who helped to build it. Touches like where to look for hidden Mickeys and unique features of the park. I highly recommend it for guests who are new to the Disney parks.
Great Product.......2006-11-10
If you were interested in the magic behind the Disney Theme parks, more specifically Epcot, then this book is for you. It's an amazing book for the seasoned Disney veteran, but may ruin some secrets for new comers. A definite buy!
Product Description
Disney fans wanting more than a standard-issue Walt Disney World travel guide should be pleased with this new, full-color book. Filled with gorgeous photos, well organized, easy to read and absolutely packed with information, it makes a strong case to be, as its cover proclaims, "The Definitive Disney Handbook."
Though this guide has the typical planning, restaurant and resort information, what sets it apart (besides the photos) is its coverage of Disney's theme parks, water parks and other entertainment options. Taking up 75 percent of the book, these chapters include detailed descriptions, specs, story lines, back stories and long lists of "Fun Finds" and "Fun Facts" that just aren't in any other Disney guide.
Other extra touches are everywhere. Architecture fans will like the bonus articles about the buildings of Epcot and Disney-MGM Studios. Animal lovers will delight in the included field guide to the Animal Kingdom park. An overview chapter includes an introduction to the resort as well as articles about Walt Disney, his cartoon characters, Imagineers, even monorails. The Special Events chapter has eight pages just on Christmas. Sprinkled throughout are quotes from Imagineers, as well as the occasional celebrity.
From the Back Cover
Walt Disney World gives you a choice of 168 rides and attractions, 81 live performances, 104 recreational activities, 179 places to eat, 197 shops and 29 resorts -- all spread out over 47 square miles. Overwhelming? Not any more! Filled with the most detailed information ever published about Disney World, this full-color guide combines a thorough description of everything Disney has to offer with a cornucopia of advice, insight and tips to help you enjoy it. In other words, it's a handbook on how to have fun. Also included: over a thousand fun finds and facts, dozens of fascinating secrets and back stories, quizzes, Hidden Mickeys and over 400 color photographs.

Great Guide.......2007-10-16
This was an excellent guide. The pictures were vibrant, the facts entertaining. This guide is good if you want to learn about the parks/rides/entertainment. It's not a commando scheduler.
Best book on rides.......2007-10-03
This book will give you the best idea on what to expect from a ride. I combine it with the WDWR Econoguide and it was the best mix. I had borrowed about 8 guides from the library and these two are the best.
Walt Disney World Book.......2007-10-01
The book I purchased, The Complete Walt Disney World, was extremely helpful in our recent trip to Disney World. It described each ride and show with a little history included.
Nice book, but..........2007-09-28
This is a nice book, with lots of colorful photos, and my eight-year-old daughter enjoys paging through it. But honestly, the Unofficial Guide is far more comprehensive and truly the only book you'll need.
One of the best WDW books on the market!.......2007-09-19
Loved the book! It's a great read straight through or specific selections. Really get the "behind-the-scenes" info on the park attractions. It's perfect for any Disney enthusiast. It's not the best book for PLANNING a vacation to WDW but it wasn't designed to be that kind of book.
Book Description
Think you know Walt Disney World?
Do you know the backstory of Dinoland U.S.A. that unifies the entire land? Do you know how the former attraction named Dreamflight is commemorated in today's Magic Kingdom? Do you know how Ellen's Energy Adventure mentions the ride which preceded it? Do you know where the references to Horizons and World of Motion are? Do you know how Disney's Animal Kingdom pays tribute to the land it planned but never created? Do you know where the Hidden Kermit is located? Do you know how the four theme parks honor the years in which they opened?
You have probably heard a few "interesting facts" about Walt Disney World over the years. Perhaps you've heard that the windows on the second story of the buildings on Main Street honor individuals of note in WDW history? Or that the company plane Walt used to survey the eventual WDW property from the air now lives at the studios park? It's all true... but these are only two of the interesting facts pointed out in "101 Things You Never Knew About Walt Disney World." And those are only two of the best-known examples. Many of these stories deal with much more obscure, yet equally interesting, pieces of history of the theme parks. You haven't heard all these stories before!
Customer Reviews:
Good Book.......2007-10-11
Great book for those who have never been to WDW and for those who have been before. There really were things I never knew.
I want my money back.......2007-08-25
This was an unsatisfactory book. Beyond the lack of content, it was poorly edited with entire paragraphs being duplicated in various instances of the 101 'things'. There was little of value that I gained from the book. I bought this because our family will travel to disney for the first time next year and I can't say I have taken much away from it. This book seemed like the type of content that would be handed out on a promotional flyer which had a map of disney on it.
:(.......2007-08-13
This book contained 101 things I already knew. This book would be great for someone who is going to visit the park for the first time. If you have been studying Disney trivia for awhile you will already know these things
Really Nice Information for the World..........2007-01-10
This is a really good source of cool information for those who wn to add details and depth to their visit to Walt Disney World. Excellent resource for the novice or seasoned visitor.
101 Things You Never Knew About Walt Disney World: An Unauthorized Look.......2007-01-04
This is an entertaining book. Info. contained within is concise and often repeated in other similar titles. Layout is a bit unsophisticated, but if you are a fan of the Parks, it is worthwhile to read.

Great overview of everythign Orlando has to offer.......2007-03-28
This travel guide combines the right amount of Theme parks with classic Orlando. The top 10 attractions covered are primarily theme parks but then when region by region is broken down you can really see the various areas to explore in Orlando. From downtown Orlando to Cape Canaveral there are lots of fun and cheap things that can be done outside of Disney and Universal. This is a great start to planning any trip. If you are just going for the theme parks than I would use a different book but if you want to see it all this is the one to get.
Find the Best 10 of Everything.......2006-08-19
DK is noted for it's thorough and colorful books.
This book catagorizes the sights and gives the top 10 for each. Categories include: golf courses, places to cool off, festivals, high end restaurants, dinner shows, hip clubs, ways to have fun on the cheap, family restaurants, etc.
Each listing has a short description plus the address, phone and sometimes the hours. I do recommend getting a basic Fodor's or Frommer's for your trip and supplement it with Top 10 Orlando.
Within the theme parks, it lists the top ten attractions so you can make the most of your time. Really a handy little book (fits easily into a purse or camera bag).
With so much to see in the Orlando/Kissimmee area, this helps you prioritize your visit.
Excellent Book for Navigators & Floridians!.......2005-07-08
You will love the precise but beautifully informative ideas in this particular edition on Orlando.
Slim but super-informative!.......2005-02-16

Best book on Orlando, period........2002-08-09
This book goes beyond all others. A comprehensive, from-the-inside look at the fun to be had in Orlando. This guide couldn't be better. Intelligent, well written, and even witty. A good buy.
Customer Reviews:
I know Wayne.......2007-10-14
I have not read this book but I just have a comment. The main character, Wayne, is a real person! He currently works at Splash Mountian in Walt Disney World and has signed some of these books in the past. He is always happy to give autographs, if you can find him at a time when he is not busy.
P.S. His nickname around Frontierland is "Pops".
Great book.......2007-08-04
I didn't think I would like thisbook but it turns out to be a great book.
Extended Commercial.......2007-06-22
"The Kingdom Keepers" has an interesting premise, and I give it three stars for being a mildly entertaining read. Unlike other reviewers, I found the focus on the geographical and architectural details of the parks interesting. The book's biggest shortcoming is its narrative choppiness, and it all too often comes across as little more than an extended commercial for Walt Disney World.
Very poorly written.......2007-06-20
This novel has some great, original ideas, but is very poorly written. The story jumps from action to action in a very wooden manner, without fully describing the characters or their emotions. The main character, Finn, is developed somewhat, but the other characters are almost interchangable without solid personalities of their own. The surprise twists do not come as a surprise. There are big holes in the plot. At one point, Finn trusts a character who he knows helped kidnap his friend. In another scene, he holds a powerful weapon in his hand, but doesn't use it against the enemy. The novel is riddled with poorly written sentences. It feels very quickly written, without enough editing. Which is a shame, because the ideas in it are very clever and original. It's too bad it wasn't more thoughtfully written to fully engage the reader's senses and emotions. It has all the heart and depth of a video game. Lots of flashy ideas, but no substance.
Every mouse-lovers dream!.......2007-06-14
I'm not going to go into a long-winded description of the book; there are plenty here. All I've got to say is that this book puts into print what all the Disney Theme Park fans have fantasized about since they were 4 feet tall and still loved to ride Dumbo. The park coming to life with you as the only occupant!
Although the writing is geared towards a more juvenile audience, it is a fun read for any age who still believes in the magic of the Magic Kingdom. It would be really cool to see a line of sequels about other attractions. Let's hope.....
Book Description
You can afford the Disney World vacation of your dreams--if you know how to save for it, save on the way to and from Orlando, and save while you're there. The Carlsons, parents of four young children, know from repeated, firsthand experience that you don't have to spend thousands of dollars to have a Walt Disney World vacation. They share their money-saving strategies for accumulating the necessary funds and then getting the most for the least on travel, tickets, food, resort hotels, and souvenirs for the kids.
Customer Reviews:
Disney doesn't HAVE to be a fortune.......2007-05-14
I had to respond to some of the nay-sayers that have reviewed this book. We go to Disney a few times a year, and it is by far one of the least vacations that we can take. This book hits the nail on the head!
You can DEFINITELY bring in a cooler with your food, and not only will it save you money, but is healthier and better tasting than the burger and fries that you will find at the park.
Staying in a rented house is not only less expensive, but infinitely more comfortable for a large group. Most people don't even realize that this is an option.
Going to Disney doesn't have to be an all-out spending fest! You can still give your kids the world without paying for it for months on end and spoiling them in the process. Set up limits on when/where to buy souvenirs, bring your own food, find budget accommodations. Once you get to the park it is the same magic for everyone, whether you've spend $1000 to get there or $5000.
"Disney on a Dime" Save your dime, and don't waste your time!.......2007-05-01
After thoroughly reading "Disney on a Dime: Money-Saving Secrets for Your Walt Disney World Vacation", all I can say is save your money and the time you would spend reading this book. Not only is there nothing earth shattering revealed in this book, there is easily better information available online for free. There are many Disney based web sites out there, and I'd venture to say that 99% or more offer better information than this book does.
The first myth of the book to dispell is bringing your own food to the park and storing it in a cooler in a locker. Not only does Disney not allow outside food, they surely do not allow a cooler! Apparently the author has never been through the outside security checkpoints or bag check that has been implemented since 9/11/01. Secondly, the author advocates stealing condiments, cups, and just about any foodservice item you can fit in your pocket/purse. While this can be done, it's absolutely ludicrous to think anyone WOULD do this. Is this really saving money, when everything you are taking is provided free of charge in the park? I think not. I can go on and on, but I think anyone with a brain gets the idea here.
In closing, I think the average person understands that a Disney vacation is by no means inexpensive. The published statistic is that the average family of four will save for seven years to take a 1 week Disney vacation. With many of the offers Disney has had the past few years (discounted 7 days vacation promotions, free dining plan, etc.) it is now even easier to take that vacation AND stay on Disney property. Do your homework online for free, and avoid this book at all costs. That'll be your fist step in saving for your Disney vacation. It's a shame that I actually had to give the book 1 star to write the review, as it's not even deserving of that.
It worked for me .......2007-03-27
I used this book and from what I've read it mentions stuff that I might not have or didn't think of. Disney is and will always be expensive. The title itself is not to be taken literally. We took our lunches in and not a word was said..I did this without a second thought. Believe me,they got plenty of money out of me when it was all said and done. So I feel no guilt about saving a few bucks for lunch. If you can save some money while at "The World" do it. This is a guide and an informative one at that. 263 days and counting!!
Disney on a Dime for a Miserable Time.......2006-12-14
You can't do Disney on a dime. And if you could, you'd have a miserable time. Most of the tips in this book are either ridiculous or downright hilarious. Did you really come to Disney to fill your pockets with free food and condiments from a topping bar? That's one of the tips for saving money at the park. Or how about bringing your own food into the park after driving there from your off-site motel room and telling the kids that they can't buy any souvenirs? What a vacation.
There are a few good tips in the book, but you probably know about them already or can easily find them for free on-line.
I'm a big fan of saving money at Disney. It is possible to save money there without ruining your vacation by cutting every corner. A good Disney vacation is expensive. All the penny jars (another tip from the book) in the world won't help with that. Do your own research and don't expect miracles. And don't be misled by authors whose next tip might involve panhandling outside Cinderella's Castle.
Not what I expected.......2006-08-25
This book was really basic in offering tips for budget conscious disney travellers. It didn't help me much. A lot of the information I already knew. I was looking for something more and I didn't find it here.
Average customer rating:
- More than just Disney in Orlando... check it out!
- There is so much more than Disney here
- Local culture and history done well

More than just Disney in Orlando... check it out!.......2000-05-12
If theme parks just ain't your thing, here's an interesting book for the Orlando-bound traveler. Art festivals, unique architecture, and a fabulous historical legacy abound in central Florida; see them and support them before they're all paved over.
There is so much more than Disney here.......1999-06-07
Mr. Brotemarkle is an expert in what the arts have to offer in the tourist capital of the south. His knowledge of all kinds of sites is amazing from opera, to historic sites to museums. He does this with a breezy style that makes of good reading and is a must if you live here and have visitors all the time. I got sick of the big parks years ago, so now I take my friends places like Leu Gardens, and museusm.
Local culture and history done well.......1999-04-09
Ben Brotmarkle has covered the local art/culture scene for Central Florida for the last 7 years on WMFE radio, so he has a good grasp of the material. This is a great book for locals who want ideas on other places to go besides the big theme parks, and for visitors to know the depth of the local scene. A good buy for anyone who lives here or plans on visiting....
