This is my third copy. I use this book for my business every month, sometimes more often. I use it for marketing ideas. I bought the new edition because the older books don't have all of the environmental events in them. This is a great business source. If you are planning sales or events for you business this will help you know what events take place every month.
I teach marketing at my company and urge all of my new agents to own a copy of this book.

"Chase's" is a terrific resource for me. I write a cooking column and I use it to stay abreast of even the smallest events. When writing a weekly column it can be a chore coming up with fresh story lines and subjects. I'm writing this on October 20. Not a particularly famous day. What can I say about October 20, presuming that I needed to say something. Well, I could say:
Apple Butter Stirrin Day in Coshocton, OH
Fall Festival of Leaves in Bainbridge, OH
Guatemala Revolution Day
Kenyatta Day in Kenya
MacArthur Returned to the Phillipines
Mickey Mantle's Birth Day

And there's a bunch more things you might quote if it fit your needs.
That's the essence of this book. Not just October 20th of course, but any of the 365 days in 2006. Not once did I find a date that said, 'Nothing happened this day.'
And I couldn't help but find out that on my birthday, 'Banned Books Week' begins. On my brothers birthday Greenwich Mean Time began - in 1676.
There are also other sections of the book, just in case you want to write about what happened 20, 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, or 200 years ago this year. Twenty years ago - January 28, 1986, Space Shuttle 'Challenger' Exploded -- yes, it's been that long.

A Lot to Celebrate!.......2004-04-22
Chase's Calendar of Events is more than a directory. It carries purpose, triumphs, and causes that will help humanity evolve in so many areas.
In this 2004 edition, you will see a new national holiday "National Divorced Parents for Children Week" which begins every October 1st. I created this holiday to remind divorced parents that their children are a part of each of them equally, and that each parent deserves honor and respect. This week long holiday puts children first, by giving their parents the opportunity to display healthy adult courtesy and respect to the other parent, solely for the benefit of their children.
You can create a holiday that has purpose and meaning too! This book is a fantastic resource to bring people together for reasons to celebrate, and make meaningful changes in our society. It is an excellent PR resource that will help you bring awareness to the special days, weeks and months that will help humanity evolve on all levels.
Highly recommended for bringing positive awareness for the benefit of all.

Fascinating book, but double-check facts.......1997-11-20
This reference work gives a massive collection of facts, author birth and death dates (including writers from around the world, not just U.S./British), publication dates for major works, and lists upon lists upon lists of events. However, there are inconsistencies among the birth and death dates. Some are simply wrong, while others are internally inconsistent (that is, the same fact in two different parts of the book do not agree). But I can't think of another book that has this breadth of information.

From Day to Day is a great resource for people who are interested in events and occurrences both in the recent past and in time long gone. Because of its month-by-month layout and the day-by-day breakdown, the information is easy to locate.
I found this book very helpful while I was working on a project with inner city children ( in the USA ) who did not have a very high self esteem. Being able to read of the birth of important historical figures and noticing hold those births coincide with their own helped as students sought to lift themselves out of negativity and into a more optimistic view of life. I have recommended this book to school librarians and history teachers everywhere I have had to opportunity to do so. It is worth every penny of the cost.

This is the only weather calendar we purchase. I've bought other companies calendars, but none can match the photos and facts they present. The photos are outstanding and the weather data, events, and facts they cite are the best around.

This second edition of The Christian Almanac contains a day-by-day recounting of the significant moments of Christian and Western history. In it are the famous births, deaths, world events, and notable anniversaries of the last two thousand years.
Each day of the calendar year receives a two-page treatment in The Christian Almanac, beginning with an essay about a significant event that took place on that day.
The entry for each day also includes a list of the most significant events in history that occurred on that day: birthdays, battles, political events, deaths, key moments in Christian history, and so forth. Each day also contains suggested Scripture readings and actions or suggestions that may include music to appreciate, books to read, events to celebrate, or service to render. For instance, on November 30 the reader is encouraged to read a chapter of Dietrich Bonhoeffer's Life Together, his powerful vision of faith in the real world.

This isn't just another guide to holidays and anniversaries. Chase's list is extensive, making this an indispensable resource for event planners, activity directors, advertising, and media professionals. As a former librarian working in advertising and marketing, I found this publication to be a popular source for creative ideas for special events, and for brainstorming in a team environment when everyone is stuck on doing the same old thing. I recently recommended this title to the events planner where I currently work. The price may seem high, but considering the volume of information, and the inclusion of a CD-Rom, this book is less expensive than many other directories.

This is a great book if you need to know what's happening in the world, but who has $65 to sink into a calendar of events book? The price is insane. Hey, Chases... I think it's time you lowered the price!
