Excellent timing.......2007-10-10
I received the book in brand new condition and it arrived even faster than the estimated date. I ordered it on a Thursday and got it by Monday..and there was a holiday in there.
Review.......2007-10-06
This textbook is a bit vague on hard facts but has a lot of details. It is sufficient.
Biology seventh edition.......2007-10-02
The book was as needed for a class. Amazon is a joke and I will never order a book from them again. I paid for next day and it took a week. Other books from other source's took 2-3 days by mail. Seems amazon just means they send it next day delivery whenever they get around to sending it out. How many people are going to pay $17.99 for next day after waiting anywhere from 5 days to a month to get it ready to ship. NEVER AGAIN !!! Book was availible cheaper but nobody else offered next day. So I got ripped twice, for cost of book and so called next day shipping.
The Ur-Text for General Biology.......2007-09-22
This is the Ur-text for general Biology. Very very detailed but extremely well written. Escpecially detailed at the molecular level (as opposed to say, ecology.)The best parts of the book are the illustrations. I have read many textbooks and none come even close to the usefullness of these illustrations. Most people could get all the Biology they need by simply studying the illustrations and their explanations. They are incredibly informative.
If you have the time this is the book. If you just need a general overvwiew you may find this book overwhelming.
Excellent Textbook.......2007-09-16
THis is a good textbook. It has a lot of good information in it. It is even better because it is the newest edition.

Book Description
Fancy Nancy is back! And when her family decides to get a dog, she's certain she can be fancier than ever. After all, a papillon—a small, delicate, fluffy dog—is the ultimate accessory. But her family wants a large, plain dog. How unglamorous!
With Fancy Nancy's trademark humor and warmth, Nancy discovers that real fanciness does not depend simply on appearance but more on a genuine joie de vivre, which is a fancy phrase for having lots of fun.

A must for any little girl!.......2007-10-02
I got my daughter her first Fancy Nancy book when she turned 2, and now everything that is girly she calls fancy Nancy, shoes, purses and anything sparkley! Great to read for bedtime too. I can't wait for the next books to come out!
Printed in China XXXXXX .......2007-09-26
I Can't understand why the first book was printed in the USA and this one is printed in CHINA! Is there lead in this book like many of their toys??
I think Amazon should list this if this is the case
A very "posh" book!.......2007-09-26
I purchased Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy to go along with the original Fancy Nancy book for my 5 year old granddaughter . . . I had them sent directly to her house while I knew I would be visiting so we could open them together and start reading. My granddaughter loved them and I had to read them several times during our first sitting! The story is very cute and age-appropriate, and the illustrations and colors are perfect for little girls her age. I wish these books had been out when my girls were little! I love the word "posh" because I was born in the country where it's most popularly used.
MISSTELV.......2007-09-25

"I LOVE this book!" .......2007-09-15
That title is the opinion of my six-year-old granddaughter. She and her mom re-read it every night.

food my husband will actually eat.......2007-10-11
If you are tired of buying a cookbook only to find 1 or 2 items that you will actually make, then Quick Fix Meals is for you. I was delighted to find lots of recipes that my husband and I enjoy that do not require a lot of specialty ingredients which can be difficult to find living in a rural area. I am really pleased with this cookbook and look forward to buying more Robin Miller titles in the future.
Practical and Delicious.......2007-09-09
I bought this book for my mom, read the recipes and had to buy it for myself. I love the recipes that begin with a big item that can be used for different meals over the following 3 days. As a working mom, these recipes have made meals so much easier!

Finally, real food for real people. Nothing fancy-smancy. Recipes I can actually cook and want to eat. Also enjoyed Robin's pantry list and organization tips.
Very nice!.......2007-07-13
Love the time saving recipes when you can take a base ingredient and transform it into several different dishes.

book "Fancy Nancy".......2007-10-02
WOW - the book came in just a few days. Great service. The book was in good shape and packaged well. THANK YOU!
Great Read.......2007-10-01
My 3 year old absolutely loves this book. The first time we checked it out from the library I didn't really think she cared for it much. But, then I happened to order it for one of her little friend's birthday and she was sooo excited! She ran around saying, "it's Fancy Nancy mommy!" It took some convincing to be able to wrap it up for her little friend. Everybody needs a little "fancy" in their life.
Great children's book.......2007-09-30
I bought this book for my four year old grandaughter and it is now her favorite book. We are now going to have a 'fancy' party at a local restaurant just like Fancy Nancy did. Well written with nice illustrations.
A very "fancy" book.......2007-09-26
I purchased two of the Fancy Nancy series for my 5 year old granddaughter - she loves them! When the book arrived, along with it's counterpart "Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy", she couldn't wait for us to read them together. She loved the story and the illustrations, and was attracted to the "girly" colors and the "before" and "after" drawings of Fancy's Nancy's bedroom! I think my granddaughter may be a "fancy" girl at heart!
I love it.......2007-09-16
I love this book. I don't know who loves it more. Me or my 2 and 4-year old daughters

Customer Reviews:
Great anatomy book!!!.......2006-07-19
I used this book while studying to be a physical therapist assistant. I wish I had found it sooner!!! It's fabulous. I provides a detailed description of how to find muscles, bones, etc. This is better than any other book I have used for this purpose.
Never thought it could get better, but it DID ..........2006-02-23
I received the 2nd ed. of this book in massage school.
I purchased the 3rd ed. to study for my National test.
WOW! I truly did not think this book could have gotten any better, but it DID! It shows all different views of muscles, muscle groups, bones, boney landmarks, how to find boney landmarks to find muscles, latin/greek roots of the words, study hints, remembering devices, WONDERFUL illustrations!
I also purchased the Student Workbook - which is an ENTIRELY new text with this edition - and it has a lot of different ways to test yourself to prepare for tests.
If you need to know ANYTHING relating to the muscles/bones of the body, YOU NEED THIS BOOK! Don't let the cost fool you ... it is NOT overpriced. I used to think it was (when I found out how much it was by itself - my 2nd ed. was included with my tuition at school), until I bought this new edition.
They added an obscene amount of new pages, and updated their illustrations to make them even EASIER to understand.
If you have any doubts about this book, log on to the publishers website discoverybooks . com - there are excerpts, downloadable pages, etc.
Hope this helps.
Wow!.......2006-02-20
Wow!, to this amazing book. I am so pleased with this purchase, I can't tell ya... I'll try. I am in massage school right now, blessed with great anatomy and physiology instructors, and great books (Musculino, Netters, Werner). Memorizing is not my strong suit so I look for as much as I can to help my brain log this info. This book gave me the missing link. I'm really beginning to tie this all together. It's angle on understanding anatomy is fun and more day to day, the illustrations are b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l. Thank you, thank you for creating this fine piece of work. I am psyched to have this on my shelf for the years to come.
Pictures are really clear, simple to learn from.......2006-02-17
The pictures in this book make learning anatomy a lot more fun. The section on bony landmarks is excellent. The section on the planes of the body and ranges of motion are also uncomplicated to learn from. For example, the pictures on the ranges of motion of the neck made it really clear how to figure out the difference between rotation and lateral flexion.
This book was really good to help me study for the national certification examination for massage and bodywork. Other books that I also recommend for studying for the national certification examination include,
The Ultimate Study Guide for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork: Key Review Questions and Answers (Topics: Human Anatomy, Physiology, and Kinesiology) Volume 1
The Ultimate Study Guide for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork: Key Review Questions and Answers (Topics: Clinical Pathology and Recognition of Various Conditions) Volume 2
The Ultimate Study Guide for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork: Key Review Questions and Answers (Topics: Massage Therapy and Bodywork: Theory, Assessment, and Application. Professional Standards, Ethics, and Business Practices) Volume 3
These study guides had important, relevant questions and answers that showed me what was important for the national certification exam.
Trail Guide to the Body is a keeper.
An expert guide to "listening" with your hands!.......2005-12-04
This book nails describing what it should feel like to touch specific muscles and structures. The illustration is amazing. My clients love the trivia I learned from this book, such as the Soleus muscle is also known as the "second heart" because it provides so much venous return pumping! Buy this book and learn it backwards and forwards and you will know how to precisely and exactly palpate any major muscle on any body. You will most likely also know more than doctors do about muscles, which is kind of fun when you are working on them! Once you know where you are, then you can start the real work. This guide leads you there.

Customer Reviews:
Probably great, but excerpt from larger book.......2006-11-20
This is probably a very, very good book. However, it turns out that this is simply one-half of the authors' book "Economics" and, currently, the complete book seems to sell for about the same price as this one piece of it! So, be economical -- buy "Economics" instead.
Book Description
Linda Kaplan Thaler and Robin Koval have moved to the top of the advertising industry by following a simple but powerful philosophy: it pays to be nice. Where so many companies encourage a dog eat dog mentality, the Kaplan Thaler Group has succeeded through chocolate and flowers. In The Power of Nice, through their own experiences and the stories of other people and businesses, they demonstrate why, contrary to conventional wisdom, nice people finish first.
Turning the well-known adage of “Nice Guys Finish Last” on its ear, The Power of Nice shows that “nice” companies have lower employee turnover, lower recruitment costs, and higher productivity. Nice people live longer, are healthier, and make more money. In today’s interconnected world, companies and people with a reputation for cooperation and fair play forge the kind of relationships that lead to bigger and better opportunities, both in business and in life.
Kaplan Thaler and Koval illustrate the surprising power of nice with an array of real-life examples from the business arena as well as from their personal lives. Most important, they present a plan of action covering everything from creating a positive impression to sweetening the pot to turning enemies into allies. Filled with inspiration and suggestions on how to supercharge your career and expand your reach in the workplace, The Power of Nice will transform how you live and work.
Customer Reviews:
Point well taken, but unrealistic.......2007-10-15
TPON makes many good points for everyday living, but the business examples are one-sided, unrealistic, and in some cases, not a good idea. Take the freelancer who was overdue payment from many clients, so she baked them brownies to make them pay. BAD idea -- you've just rewarded bad behavior. It's interesting that in the introduction, the authors ding Lois Frankel's "Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office", and yet Frankel's book is so much more thorough, realistic, and true to what happens in business. Frankel doesn't advocate being mean (as the TPON women seem to think); it advocates standing up for yourself.
TPON has great "nice cube" exercises that can improve your everyday life -- I've already digested many as excellent food for thought. For business, though, choose another book.
A quick "must read" for every business person.......2007-10-10
When the good folks over at BzzAgent sent me the book "The Power of Nice: How to Conquer the Business World with Kindness", I was a bit skeptical.
After all, didn't everyone learn how to play nice in kindergarten?
Then I thought a bit more, and realized I know a LOT of people in the business world who aren't very nice. The sad thing is, I hang out with a lot of positive, motivated, nice people, and yet I still have my fair share of dealings with people who aren't all that nice. I feel bad for people who work in businesses literally surrounded by people who aren't nice.
I decided to give the book a fair shot...and I'm glad I did.
It's a quick read, at only 119 pages. If you are a fast reader, you can zip through it in one sitting. But don't let the size fool you. The contents are very powerful, and serve as a reminder that in the long run, nice guys usually do finish first.
For instance, did you know:
* Nice people are less likely to die prematurely
* Nice people have a lower divorce rate
* Companies that foster nice behavior in their corporate culture enjoy higher revenues
The authors have captured the essence of nice with six principles worth passing along:
1. Positive impressions are like seeds--goodwill is contagious
2. You never know -- that person you offer to share a cab with today may be the prospect at tomorrow's big sales pitch
3. People change--that lowly assistant may eventually run a successful company...perhaps one you might want to work for one day!
4. Nice must be automatic -- small things like holding a door or offering a seat can actually make the difference in someone's overall opinion of you
5. Negative impressions are like germs -- they infect you and everyone around you
6. YOU will know--ultimately it's about how you live your life and what you value
A Great Message.......2007-09-24
Everyone answers in kind. If you are kind to someone, it is difficult to reciprocate by being miserable. And if you know of someone who is negative, overwhelmed or simply not nice, get them this book.
The Power of Nice is well written and full of examples, short stories and sound advice on focusing on others versus you. It is common sense, yet many simply forget the abundant value of this golden rule. There are "Six Power of Nice Principles" that are introduced and "Nice Cubes" at the end of each chapter, which are short exercises that you can complete and implement immediately.
Thaler and Koval have created an interesting, fun and engaging book which can be read in under a short two hours. If you are a casual reader, team leader, manager or high level executive, you (and members of your team) will benefit by reading this book.
Eliot Hoppe
Author - Selling: Powerful New Strategies for Sales Success
Kindness mixed with Common Sense.......2007-09-05
In a relational world, people matter is the basis of this small book filled with stories of success resulting from acts of kindness. Reminding us that impressions matter, you never know the `six-degrees' of a stranger in need, kindness turns the tables, and nice comes from within; advertising executives Kaplan Thaler and Koval use examples from Abraham Lincoln to Donald Trump (well, not exactly Trump's niceness, but at least his response to an act of kindness) to help us see the value of humility and kindness. While one could say that the entire book is about applications of the `golden rule'; reminders to `Tell the Truth', `Shut Up and Listen', and to be empathetic, are good advice for any relationship - business or personal.
The uplifting feeling - kindness does have its earthly rewards - you get from reading the book may be its main benefit. But then, for a two-hour commitment of time, that is enough to recommend the book. Dennis DeWilde, author of The Performance Connection
Definitely a more effective way to do business..........2007-08-21
This is a dramatic counterpoint to a book I just recently read on leadership "skills", but it's far more accurate and useful... The Power of Nice: How to Conquer the Business World With Kindness by Linda Kaplan Thaler and Robin Koval. When I read this book and compared it to my own 30 years of experience in the business world, I would have to say they have the formula down pat.
Contents: The Power of Nice, The Six Power of Nice Principles; Bake a Bigger Pie; Sweeten the Deal; Help Your Enemies; Tell the Truth; "Yes" Your Way to the Top; Shut Up and Listen; Put Your Head on Their Shoulders; Create a Nicer Universe; Notes; Index
Thaler and Koval run an ad agency, not an industry that you normally associate with "nice"... "Cut-throat" perhaps, but not nice. But they've decided to do things their own way, and that involves using the power of Nice as a guiding principle. Rather than rant, rave, and undercut others, they choose to be pleasant and work towards situations where everyone gains in the end. This philosophy has earned them the respect and business of many high-end Fortune 500 firms that decided they didn't want to play the typical political games often associated with advertising. In The Power of Nice, they distill their philosophy and operating principles down to a short (127 pages), entertaining, easy to read format which, if practiced by the reader, will definitely change the way you do business.
It's been my experience that being "nice" is a far greater power in the workplace over the long run than the typical "business is war" mentality. Many of their illustrations and stories parallel experiences that I've observed or been part of. The one chapter that really resonated with me was the "Shut Up and Listen" section. Letting the other guy be smarter, asking questions instead of making statements, and not arguing cause you to stand out from the typical coworker or leader in today's environment. And when you realize that everyone is "starring in their own movie, not yours", you begin to realize that it's not all about you, and you can get much further by helping others shine rather than trying to outshine everyone else.
This is one of those quick reads that you really don't have an excuse not to peruse. It won't take more than an hour or two, and the difference in your working life will start to show up immediately.

Favorite Graphic Design Book.......2007-09-21
I just finished reading all but one or two chapters of this book for a class where this was the primary text. I have to say that this book goes everywhere with me and has become a favorite. Compared to the other text books I had this semester (and many others as well), this was a breath of fresh air. The writing was never dry and it never dragged. What I read really stuck with me and I looked forward to my weekly reading. Also having the exercises at the end of most of the chapters is wonderful for a student for further learning that truly is self-paced. I plan on doing most, if not all of these exercises for further practice. I am definitely going to have to look into Landa's other titles as well.
Best G.D. Book out there!.......2007-04-04
Was advised to buy from instrucor as additional class materials and found I love this book! Covers from core information to breaking down new media and cutting edge styles. Would not go without this book if you are interested in learning about graphic design as an art and a science. Great organization and use of information -good for any level designer.
Don't pay retail... GET IT ON AMAZON!
Graphics Student.......2007-02-23
I am taking a night course that required this book. Amazon.com had the best price. The book itself has many beautiful graphic illustrations and the text is fairly easy to read. It is not the total snoozer I thought it would be and has many fun projects to illustrate the points made in the text. All-in-all not a bad course book although this is not something I would have ever picked up for personal reading.
Great for Intermediate Designers.......2007-02-20
This book is a big help if you have been thrust into a job where you must come up with a great design for a poster or flyer. Gives you as many or as little steps as you think are necessary. Good reference.
Great Text For Art students.......2007-01-04
Combining great illustrations along with good information, this text truly delivers what many are lacking in. From print to web design, this book explores many facets of Design.

Dr.Gott's No Flour, No Sugar Diet.......2007-10-12
Dr. Gott's No Flour, No Sugar(TM) Diet This book is very easy and comprehendible reading. The explanations/rationale for omitting flour & sugar from our diets is understandable for the lay person. Many of the recipes are very easy to make and delicious, especially the Omelette Muffins, Coconut Pecan Granola, and the tortilla chips. My family even enjoys them. The meatballs were ok, but there is some ingredient missing that could make them more tasty, but I haven't figured out what. Of course when I added a little tiny bit of spaghetti sauce it made them much more palatable. I wish the book had more common recipes that people eat. I guess if you read the book you probably can come up with some new recipes, I just like things quick and easy! Just like any diet, you have to be on your toes everytime you're hungry, because it is very easy to fall into the snack mode and grab some chips, crackers and cheese, peanut butter and crackers. I can say that I have become much more aware of reading labels for the flour and sugar contents since reading this book!
A different kind of food plan.......2007-09-09
This is a good concept. You would need to learn to read labels very well. Taking the time to cook most of your own meals would work the best. It would be hard to eat out and make this work for you.
No Flour, No Sugar, No Reading this Book.......2007-08-29
This book was sent to a friend of mine directly from the book seller; as such I cannot comment on the contents. My responses to questions numbers 1 and 2 were strictly improv, as the survey does not provide for "thinking out of the box"!
The easiest diet .......2007-08-26
This diet is the easiest diet I have ever done. You only give up flour and sugar. I am a diabetic and I never eat much sugar, so giving up flour was my only deterent. I don't feel as if I'm giving up much and I am losing between 1 and 2 lbs. a week. Many people lose more, because they have always eaten flour and sugar. It really isn't difficult to stay on this diet because you can eat almost everything.
I like the book because Dr. Gott has some letters from dieters and he explains exactly what you can and cannot have.
I probably won't make many of the recipes because I know what I can eat and what I cannot eat.
I highly recommend the book.
EASY TO FOLLOW DIET.......2007-08-04
FIRST DIET BOOK THAT I CAN REMEMBER WHICH MENTIONS THE VALUE OF EXERCISE AND QUANTITY OF FOOD EATEN. ALSO TALKS ABOUT ALL THE FAD DIETS AND WHY THEY FAIL IN THE LONG TERM. I LIKE BOOKS WHICH ARE SIMPLE AND TO THE POINT.
