The author of this book is a paranoid man with delusions of grandeur. Their books seem to spend more time talking about how amazing he is (making such claims as being able to levitate and summon ufo's on a whim) and doesn't actually give any real evidence. You are better off looking for interesting evidence with a google search, this book is not worth the money.

There is truth here which must be heard so all peoples will benefit.

1 out of 5 stars I have been to a Greer "training".......2007-05-05

Like this book, the training was full of fantasy and imagination. Unlike this book, it was not full of extra-terrestial experiences. Rather, for me, the training was full of social-psychological phenomena. Some would call it "group think."

Greer, a dominating personality fascinated as much with himself, his thoughts and imagination as he is with ETs, seems to have a core group of followers, a majority of whom are single women. They are his resident "experts" at these trainings and report seeing what Greer suggests they will see. (We call it "priming" the crowd.) The group dynamics are incredible! Some of these women observe with their eyes shut or tightly "squinting" and report what they have seen as reality -- always ETs or avatars, of course. Greer approves and calls them experienced observers. Others, who see nothing, are told to stick with it and as they believe and practice, they, too will see. (Sort of like, if you read enough, believe enough, you will see Jesus.)

If you like science fantasy, this book could be entertaining though frustrating because of the remarkably juvenile, repetitious writing style. If you want facts, go elsewhere.

Thank you for this book and all the enthusiasm and love you put into it. Thank you for opening my eyes and taking my fears away and doing the same for lots of others. Thank you for all your brave hard work. Every bit of your effort is opening doors to great miracles, waiting for too long to happen.
With admiration, Gabriela.

5 out of 5 stars Review of "Exterrestrial Contact" by Steven Greer, M.D........2007-02-18

Let's start with the bottom line: This book should be taken very seriously.
Preamble: There are certain philosophical and moral foundations for investigations of reality, whether conventional or "far out." 1. An investigation should attempt to gather all of the facts that are pertinent to the subject. Leaving out essential facts can lead to erroneous conclusions. 2. The anlaysis of facts and evidence should be as thorough, complete, and valid as humanly possible. 3. The investigators should hold to an attitude of perfect impartiality; any bias is scientifically immoral. Even more immoral is deliberate concealment and lying to support a hidden agenda. 4. Investigators must often exhibit considerable courage to face and overcome opposition from those who oppose new facts, concepts, and conclusions.
How does Dr. Greer's investigation stack up with these principles? 1. The investigation has been extremely thorough, with an enormous body of evidence gathered. 2. The analysis of this evidence seems to be carefully done and valid. 3. No bias is evident in the investigator. In constrast, Dr. Greer has uncovered not only bias, but deliberate obstruction of the truth among many of the individuals and agencies investigated. 4. Dr.Greer has displayed a great deal of courage in confronting opposition to his totally justified right to investigate an important phenomenon.
In my opinion, Dr. Greer has reached a correct conclusion that there exists a "shadow government" that is more powerful than the visible one, and which has the money and resources to control information and suppress new technology in support of its own goals.

1 out of 5 stars Sincere, but used by others to spread mis-information.......2006-08-06

Michael is an intellegent and sincere person, however because of his mental off-balance was apparently used by others to spread seeds of mis-information. Why? Who Knows.

1 out of 5 stars If you are serious about Aliens and UFO's, don't bother.......2002-03-05

I found this book to be self serving drivel. I threw it down in disgust after plowing through 140 pages waiting to obtain some useful insight. Instead, what I got was a way too fanciful style and content that is little more than blatent exhibitionism about how clever and wonderful is Dr. Wolf and his late family.

1 out of 5 stars This book is a waste of money!.......2001-05-15

First, I will start by saying I am not the toughest critic. But this book was bad. It was very difficult to read and make sense of. Michael Wolf seems to be mentally delusional with no scientific basis whatsoever. I found it difficult to believe he was even a scientist of any kind. They say his background has never checked out and I do not find that surprising at all. I felt like this was a first person story written by a 10 year old in fantasylike, doom/gloom, paranoid world. Basically sounding schizophrenic almost. Save your money and buy "The Day After Roswell," now that book will provide more factual information you are probably looking for. Good Luck.

4 out of 5 stars Worth the Effort.......2000-05-27

Having read a number of the glowing reviews, I began the book eagerly but bogged down in the 1st 30 pages with Rabbi Stone and all and was not sure it was worth it. I might have quit except that I had a dream in which Michael Wolf's son came to me and asked just what I was having trouble with in the book, expressing concern. I remember little more from the dream but it got my attention, and I determined to keep going. The beginning was difficult with so much stream of consciousness and jumping around in time. I also had difficulty following the physics lectures, and sorting out if this was just too far over my head, or it wasn't meant to be fully understood. My educational background is in biology, so when the rainforests came up, I could tell the writing was, in fact, just plain confusing, and could benefit from some additional editing, if clarity is a goal.

All said, the gems of information and insight into a multi-dimensional existence, and into government involvement were worth the effort. It is hard to believe this could be pure fiction, because it is so personal. And it is written by someone who seems to have firsthand experience of non-linear time, and of a greater existence beyond an earthly lifetime.

Here are some passages that struck me:

"This Trilogy is written only because I firmly believe that people have rights: They deserve to know! I do not seek forgiveness. I swear eternal hostility upon those who would rule the minds of men. In a so-called "free" society, the right to know must exist. If a man sees, hears, and feels, he cannot be told he did not see, he did not hear, he did not feel, for this is the 'Tyranny over the mind of man.' This tyranny must end...now."

"I am overwhelmed with the knowledge that the majority of global citizens are deliberately kept ignorant of what is happening, what has been happening since the beginning of human history."

Amen. Perhaps his story will help us toward hearings on government secrecy, with amnesty for government employees willing to talk.

I am grateful for the courage and effort it took to get this extraordinary book out. I hope Michael Wolf will stay with us a while longer, not meeting some untimely death, and that he will be able to complete the sequel his son hoped he would write. I also recommend John Mack's book, Passport to the Cosmos, a study of alien encounters which blew holes in my scientific materialist worldview and helped anchor the "Bigger Picture".

5 out of 5 stars Opinion of a student.......1999-12-13

Dr. Wolf's book is an incredible mix of science, poetry, autobiography. He's an infinite source of information about UFO cover-up, also a scientist.

Book Description

Zecharia Sitchin’s autobiographical recounting of a half century of investigative expeditions to unravel the enigmas of ancient civilizations and their gods

• Includes vivid accounts of explorations in Greece, Thera, Crete, Egypt, the Sinai, Israel, Jordan, and Mesoamerica

• Reveals behind-the-scenes findings in museums and archaeological sites

• Contains 60 color and 159 black-and-white images from the author’s personal archive, including previously unpublished photographic evidence of UFOs in biblical times

For the first time, Zecharia Sitchin, author of the bestselling The Earth Chronicles series, reveals the foundational research and adventurous expeditions that resulted in the concrete evidence for his conclusions that ancient myths were recollections of factual events, that the gods of ancient peoples were visitors to Earth from another planet, and that we are not alone in our own solar system. In the course of his investigations Sitchin also became convinced of the veracity of the Bible.

Sitchin’s expeditions take readers from the Yucatan peninsula to the isle of Crete to ancient Egypt and the lands of the Bible as he explores the links between the Old World and the New World. His adventurous exploits reveal archaeological cover-ups concerning Olmec origins in Mexico and ancient UFO artifacts in Turkey. Other quests send him through the holy sites of Jerusalem, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon in search of evidence of extraterrestrial gods in the artifacts and murals of these ancient civilizations. The Earth Chronicles Expeditions is a masterful historical and archaeological adventure into the origins of mankind and a “must” guidebook for all who wish to visit the numerous sites and museums covered in this book.

5 out of 5 stars On Changing Lives.......2005-12-16

I discovered Zacharia Sitchen many years ago, and have been an avid follower ever since. When it came time for me to make my own journey into research and exploration, it was because authors like Sitchen had such a powerful impact on me, and on my beliefs;as on many others around the world. Delving into areas where science and the Bible run parallel,it boggles the mind. I highly recommend this, and all of Sitchen's books.

4 out of 5 stars Sitchin takes us on a personal tour of the past.......2005-05-07

If you aren't familiar with the controversial theories of Zecharia Sitchin, I would recommend that you acquaint yourself with some or all of his previously published work, known collectively as the Earth Chronicles, before embarking on this personal tour of many of the ancient sites that inform his work. This is not to say that you have to be a fan of Sitchin - or even agree with his ideas - in order to appreciate The Earth Chronicles Expeditions: Journeys to the Mythical Past, however, for it is a unique travel guide featuring a large number of breathtaking images of some of the world's most ancient, venerated, and thought-provoking monuments and artifacts - you will find no less than 158 black-and-white images as well as 60 beautiful, full-color photographs in these pages. The magnificence of the images is without question; Sitchin's theories about the origin and meaning of the sites and materials, however, are not. I am not going to debate the merits of Sitchin's theories in this review. Having read most of Sitchin's published works, I personally find his account of earth's past fascinating, reasonably logical, and even plausible - certainly his ideas are worthy of thought and debate, although I would not go so far as to call myself a true believer (although I probably would qualify as a fan).

This particular book is primarily aimed at Sitchin's true believers and biggest fans, which makes the narrative somewhat problematic for those unfamiliar with Sitchin's work. Having argued the merits of his radical ideas in previous books, he tends to treat his theories as facts here - and, while some of the discoveries he made on the research tours discussed here shaped his original thinking, on occasion he seemed to go looking for things that would support conclusions he had already drawn. My main point about the text, though, is this: in this particular book, Sitchin makes statements that would seem incredulous to the uninitiated: to put it all in a hopelessly oversimplified nutshell, Sitchin believes that inhabitants of a "twelfth planet" in our solar system first arrived here on earth millennia ago, basically created human life via genetic engineering, and influenced the whole of human history in the form of gods. Nine previous books explain his theories and detail the evidence that led him to make his dramatic conclusions; this book covers his research tours and breathes new life into ancient sites - it does not attempt to rehash the complicated arguments Sitchin has already documented elsewhere.

Sitchin is an accomplished scholar who has studied ancient history and archaeology all across the globe; he has an almost unparalleled grasp of ancient languages, especially that of the Sumerians and other early cultures of the Middle East; and he is also an accomplished Biblical scholar. Through his study of diverse artifacts and writings, he believes that the ancient tales of the gods, as well as the events recorded in the Hebrew Bible, were all true - that the gods and goddesses of ancient history were real. The Earth Chronicles Expeditions is the equivalent of a virtual tour for his fans, taking them to some of the most significant sites all across the globe, from the Holy Land to Troy to Mesoamerica. Here, he describes what it is like to walk among ancient ruins, view fascinating artifacts thousands of years old, experience the history of long-dead peoples through fantastic murals that survive to this day, and marvel at the poignant power of religious sites such as the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

A lot of the narrative describes the problems Sitchin faced in making these research tours possible. Political and religious conflicts in the Near East made travel arrangements to such places as Syria, Egypt, and Israel over the last few decades tricky at best, and the artifacts he most wished to see were not always available for public viewing - at least not without a little finagling on Sitchin's part, although his efforts were not always successful in getting him the access he wanted. The whole work is a little self-indulgent in places, and Sitchin sometimes sees things that I do not, but The Earth Chronicles Expeditions makes for a fascinating and visually incredible excursion through time for those interested in Sitchin's theories. This, unlike the author's previous books, is very much a personal account, and as such it features some information and ideas that Sitchin has been pondering for years but felt himself unable to include in his more scholarly works. That makes this a must-read for Earth Chronicles fans.

4 out of 5 stars Somewhere in middle lies the truth........2005-02-11

Fascinating book. I don't see ancient aliens the way Sitchin sees them. Not after reading the Ark of Millions of Years. They weren't merely explorers looking for a primitive race to feed them grapes all day. They had a mission. They came from somewhere, and they survived the flood of Noah by being off-world when it occurred. Then they returned and kept up their work, only with a much more resistant and noble race of man.

Read The Ark of Millions of Years to get the middle road story. The whole story.

5 out of 5 stars The most worthwhile travel journal to share.......2004-12-06

I have had the honor and privilege of visiting Mayan sites with Mr. Sitchin and reading "The Earth Chronicles Expeditions" made me wish that I could have journeyed with him and his intrepid band of "fans" on all of them. This book is the next best thing and I treasure it and thank Mr. Sitchin for writing it. I, too, am an author and though, like Mr. Sitchin, I've devoted my life to my work and believe in its value with all my heart and soul, his work is far more important in the scheme of things than almost any books ever written. You cannot consider yourself an educated person without reading all of the books by Zecharia Sitchin and this is a great first book to read. Then try either "The 12th Planet" or "Genisis Revisited" and I know you'll be as eager to read all of them as I was. There is nothing like his work in all of the millions of books that have ever been published. I envy those reading and being astounded by his meticulously researched books for the first time. Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars New Fine Addition To Sitchin's collection.......2004-11-01

Like the twelve planet and when time began this one book is a beatifull addition to Sitchin's work.

There is still one book which Sitchin has failed to write and I hope he will do it soon before he gets too old.

The whole logic and moral behind Sitchin's work is "Are we Catchin up with the Past?"

In this he does a marvelous job in showing us how wrong all our history is and how it is comming ti temrs with the reality. From the visitation of Extraterrestrial beings so called gods by the ancients to the creationg of Homo Sapiens modern humans and the
technological advances.

But Sitchin ought to write one last book which uses all this past knowledge to Project a more probable Future for mankind. This way he will come around full circle and showed once and for all how Humans are cathhing up.

For example Humans were not given Technology such as agriculture until after the catastophic deludge. In a a way we are a point in which a new catastrophic event will occured whether it is a natural or man made the arrow of events certanly points in that direction.

So should we conclude that the increase of UFO sightings and manipulation of humans is indeed a preparation for the upcomming events and since as you all know OIL is problem is becoming apparent, New sources of energy will be shown or have been shown which will be used by the remants after the catastrophe?

Just as agriculture gave mankind a boost after the waters receded so will a new source of energy capable of taking man to the outter planets and the galaxy come true?

Will the ancient gods return one more time AS SAVIOURS to be worshiped in the Temples of the Future again?

Sitchin before is too late show us your fans what the future holds for "To understand the future we must understand the past"

Zecharia Sitchin's Earth Chronicles series is based on the premise that mythology is not physiologically based, psychologically metaphorical, or culturally allegorical but rather the repository of ancient memories, and that the Bible ought to be read as a historical scientific document. While the debate regarding the origins of myth is far from conclusive, and the dangers of assuming that the subjectivity of the reader/researcher will not intervene are obvious, Stitchin is an expert in ancient language and history. While the reader may scoff at his unfortunately characteristic long leaps of logic resulting in conclusions (such as that gods from outer space destroyed a spaceport on the Sinai Peninsula four millennia ago), he does present some compelling ideas not easily ignored. The series, of which this is the third volume, deserves a read by those fascinated with the search for the origins of humankind who don't mind spending time separating wheat from chaff. --P. Randall Cohan

Book Description

Eons ago, the Earth was a battlefield. Mighty armies clashed, led by giant warriors meticulously skilled in the art of combat. These wars would shape man's destiny and live on for centuries in legend, song and religious lore -- brutal and terrible conflicts that began lifetimes earlier on another planet.

In the astonishing third volume of Zecharia Sitchin's The Earth Chronicles, the internationally renowned scholar parts the mists of myth and time to return to the violent beginnings of humanity -- employing ancient text, religious documents and archaeological findings to reconstruct epic events that support the existence of extraterrestrial "god" who once set nation against nation, army against army, and man against man.

Another great book by Zachariah Sitchen, I have read all eight books of his Earth chronicles and they are all very mind boggling. This book gives a new slant on the great pyramid in Egypt.

4 out of 5 stars The Real Mind Boggling Questions remain un-answered.......2006-02-23

I do agree with many reviewers that Sitchin's work provides a "new" angle, and for many, a new vision, to understand the mythology and religius theories of "beginning", history and "end". His premises might have been "mind boggling" for many a readers. There are, off course, good reasons for that. However, his having convincing reasons to establish new concepts while exploring and explaining religius traditions and myths, he has not been able to even slightly touch the most important questions asked by most curious human minds in all known human history. I would like to mention a few of them here in most simplest terms:

1 . (Lets start with Questions on Sitchin's own theory). If
humans were created by terrestrial gods from some other part
of the Universe, then who is behind all this Universe? Why
should'nt we start probing the signs of the most Ultimate,
behind the veil? Why should we repeat the same mistake as
did by our ancesters, by assuming those Terrestrial Visitors
on our planet as "gods"?
2 . On "what" those terrestrial gods used to fight? Why they
created such an imperfect creature as man, to be used as
pawns in their game of chess? Why not a better warrior
force? Why not something, some "technology" superior
than "Iron" and "Nuclear" power?
3 . How much of this "Universe" is the creation of those
terrestrial gods? (As far as God or "gods" is concerned,
Creation does not mean molding raw material in to different
shapes- Creation means creating raw material and all
its "working principles" out of nothing.
4 . In case those 'gods' were also creation of some other
'creator'then who was that "Creator"?
5 . Where should this series of creators end?
6 . Whoever is "gods", why they want to be "Believed" in to them?
7 . Can man someday become another god for the beings "created"
by him at another planet? If yes!, but why?
8 . Should man demand from those inferior beings to worship him?
For what?
9 . Did those gods perform some experiment on this planet and
abandoned it when it went wrong? What went wrong? In case
the experiment is still on-going then what kind of
"gods" are those who did not know the results of their
experiment, already?
10. Do those "gods" fix destiny?

11. (Coming to traditional questions). What is Destiny?
12. Is it "all" happening in my mind or in God's/ gods' mind?
13. What is my experience, what is matter, what is time and
space??? What is Universe, anyway? Does it include my inner
universe? Who am I? Who "you" are? Do I exist? What is
Existance?
14. What is "Knowledge"? What is the "Source" of Knowledge? What
is "Wisdom"? Does "Wisdom" include "Knowledge" and
"Creativity"?
15 . (Little of Mysticism) What is "Alive" and what is "Dead"?
What is "Soul". What is "Spirit"? What is "ecstasy", "Awe",
"revelation", "Nirvana", "Divine Unity", so on and so forth.

I have full respect for all such attempts that endeavor to explain the questions of creation and existence. However when one explains the fundamental questions by the logic whose own fundamentals are questionable then the matters are not solved, rather become even more complicated. If we really recognize lesser gods playing "God" on this planet, then lets find the "One" who is "Real" "The Greatest", the "Unique". "None" exists like "Him". His wisdom has created all that exists, has existed and will exist. Our whole thinking process leads us to one exhausted conclusion, that there can not be many "gods" who created everything. Creators of replica or molders of genes can not be true god. Besides its bold logical analysis of Religion, Mythology and History, Sitichin's theory leads ones world view to Chaos, which causes deep disturbing pain to the Believers in the Sigular Diety. General human tendency is that we can not live with chaotic common sense and voids in logic. Whole human struggle revolves around "putting meaning in to Chaos". The only meaning that man has yet been able to put in this Chaos of life and Universe is to attribute it to a most Original Creator who is beyond all understanding of His creation. He created us such that, we are bound to understand, with certain premises and under fixed boundaries. (As Emanuel Kant puts it), It is meaningless to say whether "outside" world exists or not. By our existence we are bound to think in a pre-destined "Format" of thinking. We are bound to think through Logic, Time, Space, Matter, Events, Causality, Beginning (Creation), End, Creator, Destiny, etc. God has created us such that we can only and always think through these formats of thinking. We are innately bound to have a "Universe" around us. We are bound to have "Beginner", "Creator" for "Everything around and within us", including our innate process of thinking.
Wisdom starts where our logic ends. Wisdom is to accept with pure submission that my "logic" can not "grasp" the "Real One". All my faculties of reasoning are not capable to comprehend him. They are not equipped with such tools and format of thinking.
My "format" of thinking leads me to a blind, exhaustive conclusion that "There has to be Someone who is the Ultimate Originator of All This".
"Why" did he do it?
Do not expect an answer, because, "Why" is the part of my format of thinking but the answer to this "why" may not be understandable for my "format" of thinking.

5 out of 5 stars Book III of the Earth Chronicle series.......2005-09-18

To be honest, I have not yet starting reading this book. This is the 3rd book in the Earth Chronicle series. I am currently reading the second book and devoured the first book. The 12th Planet is the first book and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in ancient civilization and human culture, its art and deep historic meaning shed light where our current culture provides ignorant knowledge. Sitchin is classic within metaphysical circles and is essential in educating oneself about the 'Gods' and the truth concerning mythlogical origins on our planet. Sitchin's gift is his ability to analyse ancient text directly and logically and then take it to a much higher level than popular culture can even imagine.

Modern Technology . . . or Knowledge of the Ancients?

Space travel . . . Genetic engineering . . . Computer science . . . Astounding achievements as new as tomorrow. But stunning recent evidence proves that as these ultramodern advances were known to our forfathers millions of yrsterdays ago . . . as early as 3,000 years before the birth of Christ!

In this remarkable companion volume to his landmark EARTH CHRONICLES series, author Zecharia Sitchin reexamines the teachings of the ancients in the light of mankind's latest scientific discoveries -- and uncovers breathtaking, never-before-revealed facts that challenge long-held, conventional beliefs about our planet and our species.

1 out of 5 stars If life is this boring - who cares where it came from.......2007-08-05

Ho- Hum another boring uninformed book on wishful thinking insanity masquerading as 'scientific'. Save your money.
Face it there's nothing new under the Sun - even Sitchin's narcissistic one!

5 out of 5 stars Genesis Revisited.......2007-03-09

If it's Sitchin it is very thought prevoking and good information of your own growth on the subject of where did we come from.

3 out of 5 stars Fun to think about, but..........2007-01-25

I saw this book as a way of speeding up the process of getting through Sitchin's ideas as the prospect of reading the full series was a bit daunting - and I love to read! My previous experience with his books were of very dense prose not exactly easy to read. Lots of material. This book is a bit quicker and less intense. Not that Sitchin doesn't present his usual evidence and theories. I enjoy allowing my mind to take up his ideas but there always seem to be a point where he makes a jump of reasoning. Not that he's necessarily wrong. It's just that the presentation of evidence doesn't necessarily continue up to the point of making a conclusion. Too bad the book is even now significantly dated in terms of interstellar developments.

2 out of 5 stars Genesis Revisited.......2007-01-12

Another great book by Zachariah Sitchen, I have read all eight books of his Earth chronicles and they are all very mind boggling.

5 out of 5 stars A summary of the Earth Chronicles.......2006-08-27

Sitchin's series of books is time consuming to read. However, this book is a very nice summary of his theories. He summarizes much of what takes pages and pages to present in the books of the Earth Chronicles series. Not sure as to the validity of Sitchin's assertions, but they sure are interesting. Faithful Christians will probably find this book blasphemous. Free thinkers will enjoy it a great deal!!

Thousands Of Years Before the Birth
Of Christ, Giants Roamed The Earth

In the sixteenth century, Spanish conquerors came to the New World in search of El Dorado, the fabled city of gold. Instead, they encountered inexplicable phenomena that have puzzled scholars and historians ever since: massive stone edifices constructed in the Earth's most inaccessible regions ... great monuments forged with impossible skill and unknown tools ... intricate carvings describing the events and topography of half a world away.

In this, the remarkable and thoroughly researched fourth volume of THE EARTH CHRONICLES, author Zecharia Sitchin uncovers the long-hidden secrets of the lost civilizations of the pre-Columbian Americas and offers documentation of the giant gods who spawned the greatness of the Incans, Mayans, and Aztecs -- the Anunnaki -- "those who from Heaven to Earth came."

5 out of 5 stars Takes the New out of New World.......2002-07-28

The Lost Realms is one of the most speculative and interesting books in Sitchin's Earth Chronicles series. The ruins and structures of Egypt and the Near East have been wondered at and studied for centuries, and there is a veritable wealth of information from Near Eastern papyri, stelae, monuments, and similar artifacts. The ruins of Mesoamerica have largely been rediscovered only in the past couple of hundred years; indeed, unknown wonders surely remain hidden by South America's dense jungles. The immensely important records and artifacts of New World societies such as the Mayan, Inca, and Aztec civilizations were for the most part lost and destroyed at the hands of greedy Spanish conquistadors, and further site degradation has resulted from the pilfering of ancient stones by recent natives of the area for use in the construction of their own buildings. Thus, the earliest history of the lower Americas remains frustratingly impossible to understand. We are left with giant edifices with significant similarities to Near Eastern constructions in size, orientation, and purpose, many of them seemingly containing very advanced structures built for unknown purposes. Even the age of the artifacts is hotly debated, with many scientists refusing to believe scientific findings point back to as early as 2000 B.C.

Sitchin's arguments fit very nicely with the history of Sumeria, Egypt, and the Near East that he laid out in his earlier books. Basically, he argues that the Americas were exploited by the gods for the production of gold and other metals such as tin, which the Andean mountains in particular hold in abundance. Metals were refined here and shipped back to the Near Eastern lands long before Columbus ever sailed the ocean blue. Sitchin believes that the Olmecs, of which very little is known besides what has been gleaned from the artifacts they left behind, particularly in the form of large stone blocks representing men of obvious African descent, did indeed come from Africa very early on--in fact, it was the Egyptian god Thoth who brought his followers here when he was displaced by Marduk. While the Olmecs mysteriously disappeared, other societies were formed by white gods and giants from across the sea. The traditions of the diverse Indian groups all shared a common mythology, including the story of a Great Flood; they also possessed amazing arts, technologies, and sciences (particularly astronomy) very similar to those of Sumeria and Egypt. The inadequacy of artifacts in the Americas necessarily hinder any scientist studying their earliest histories, but Sitchin constructs a remarkably compelling timeline in which the story of Mesoamerica fits very neatly into the history he has gleaned of the Annunaki and their relationships with mankind in its earliest days.

Even if Sitchin were dead wrong on everything he suggests, this book would still be worth reading just for the information about the amazing ancient cities and monuments built in the lower Americas that are only now emerging from their jungle tombs. The Olmecs, Toltecs, Mayans, Incas, and Aztecs are more mysterious than the Near Eastern cultures, and the suggestion that men traveled from the Old World and Africa centuries before Columbus is as compelling as it is fascinating. The illustrations in this book are sometimes rather grainy and hard to examine closely, but the images they convey, such as that of the giant stone heads left by the Olmecs, do much to enhance Sitchin's theories. This is thought-provoking, educational, stimulating material.

5 out of 5 stars The Lost Realms.......2002-05-23

There are many pieces of the puzzle of our existence in the universe that I had figured out, or "seen", but there were still dots that I could not connect, gaps I could not fill in. When I read this book it was like deja vu, a recollection of things stored in our genetic memory/code long forgotten through evolution, now recalled causing gasps of recollection. This book logically and scientifically filled in the gaps. It makes sense, it all fits. Sitchin's bibliography to support his research is tremendously extensive and impressive. I recommend it highly for the searching mind, and have given copies as gifts to many friends and associates.

They Came To Earth Millions Of Years
Ago To Spread The Poison Of Hatred,
War And Catastrophe...

They Are With Us Still...

Human history is a seemingly endless succession of bloody conflicts and devastating turmoil. Yet, inexplicably, in the light of astonshing intellectual and technological advancement, Man's progress has been halted in one crucial area: he still indulges the primitive beast within and makes war upon his neighbors.

As a result of seven years of intense research, William Bramley has unconvered the sinister thread that links humanity's darkest events -- from the wars of the ancient pharaohs to the assissination of JFK. In this remarkable, shocking and absolutely compelling work, Bramley presents disturbing evidence of an alien presence on Earth -- extraterrestrial visitors who have conspired to dominate Humankind through violence and chaos since the beginning of time...a conspiracy which continues to this very day.

3 out of 5 stars Adequate for leisure reading, not to be taken seriously .......2007-09-16

I bought this book thinking it would present to me a startling revelation about the 'true' history of mankind, but to my utter dismay, this piece offered nothing of the sort. Bramley brings up an abundance of evidence from centuries ago (ancient civilization and pre-modern times), and proceeds to analyze it with his wacky mind. He twists the major events in history to suit his own theory. For example, during the Black Plague, colored mists were seen shortly before many outbreaks, recorded in the firsthand accounts of people from the past. So he concludes that the mist is the result of alien germ warfare. Also, the book contains no direct link between the eras he discusses and the alien race. He just goes on from the starting point set forth by his introduction chapters and rambles on from there, proposing that the Brotherhood caused this, the Brotherhood did that, but where is the evidence? Using the words of Yoda, may I inform you fellow human readers that: 'A major disappointment this book is.'

5 out of 5 stars Will you dare to be unplugged from The Matrix?.......2007-09-01

William Bramley's book is a phenomenal read. This book examines man's history beginning with Genesis and covers warfare, money, mankinds inhumanity towards each other and who is really running the planet and more. (No we bipedal apes are not alone and running the show much as we would like to think we are).

A very interesting read, however I wonder if most people will be able to read this with a open mind and humble heart.

Much of this book explained and put a closure on many basic questions I have had for a very long time concerning mankind's stupidy towards each other and his holding onto so many fundamentalist and primitive beliefs. Like Neo in the Matrix, I've always felt that "something was amiss" I just didn't know the what and why of it. Knowledge is power, will you let Bramley's book unplug you from the Matrix? Funny, fact is often stranger then fiction.

3 out of 5 stars A generally good read, but............2007-08-21

Honestly, I'm not quite sure how to rate this book. On the one side, the author posits a theory at the outset but only barely carries it forward through the book and provides scant evidence to support it. On the other side, the author takes the reader through a facinating view of history and points out a lot of unseen links between seemingly disperate events. The writing is mostly engaging and the progression quite easy to follow, but at points there are jarring subject changes from one paragraph to the next. Most of the book is an attempt at an objective view toward historical events, but at the end the author makes a marked (though not necessarily unexpected) turn in to the metaphysical.

As much as I enjoyed reading the book overall, I do find myself questioning the value of the material because of some of what the author said. In at least one area I believe he stated as fact something which I believe (though I'm no experect) is incorrect. At another point he takes a decidedly limited view on a topic (one I am quite informed about) and presents only one side of the issue. Identifying these problems in the text forced me to question the validity of the rest of the material presented.

Good read as it generally was, I came away from the book unsatisfied.

5 out of 5 stars The Gods of Eden is essential reading.......2007-08-19

I have heard of the Gods of Eden many times in the past but hadn't got round to reading it and then I was watching a video with contactee Alex Collier recommending it and seeing as I was so impressed with what he had to say I searched online to buy a copy here and am very glad I did so!

William Bramley's book is a classic work for anyone investigating UFOs and conspiracy theories or is looking for the truth about this crazy world.

4 out of 5 stars The Gods Of Eden.......2007-05-21

Very good! The book solves the question about different tribes (Hebrews, Sunnis, etc) and civilizations (Meso-American,Asian, etc). claiming the gods or God as the "one and only". More importantly the book clearly points out what all Buddhas, sages, and worthies have repeatedly stated: "Enlightenment comes from within, not outside yourself."

Book Description

The Architects of Stonehenge

They came to Earth thousands of years ago to usher in mankind's first New Age of scientific growth and spiritual enlightenment. Under the guidance of these ancient visitors from the heavens, human civilization flourished -- as revolutionary advances in art, science and thought swept through the inhabited world. And they left behind magnificent monuments -- baffling monoliths and awesome, towering structures that stand to this day as testaments to their greatness.

In this extraordinarily documented, meticulously researched work, Zecharia Sitchin draws remarkable correlations between the events that shape our civilization in millennia past -- pinpointing with astonishing accuracy the tumultuous beginning of time as we know it . . . and revealing to us the indisputable signature of extraterrestrial god indelibly written in stone.

4 out of 5 stars When Time Began.......2007-01-12

A good book, but a little repetition. I have read all eight books of his Earth chronicles and they are all very mind boggling.

1 out of 5 stars Sitchen and his love of the blind-folded observation.......2004-10-05

Sitchen's interpretation of Sumer mythology is just as bad as Lawrence Gardner's explanation of how the Egyptians built the pyramids. Sitchen's books are nothing more than fiction masquerading as actual events. Its hard for people such as Sitchen to believe that African people, both, inland, and abroad can build complex buildings and monuments. Sure, there is evidence of alien visits, but, you won't find it here. Sitchen belongs to a group of (...)individuals who syncretized different backgrounds of knowledge for the sake of exploit and profit. Nothing new here, just more recycled junk-sci-info.

5 out of 5 stars Extremely interesting..........2003-03-29

Honestly speaking everything about life and it's origin is a theory. Sitchin has written a great book (I have read most of his) and the theory of time and origin of life on earth explained in this book is quiet remarkable and astonishing. If you are one of those who think 'where did we come from', 'was there a begining' or 'is there an end' then I'd recommened this book. However, a lot of maths has been used in this book which requires reading it over again at times. But in short, I love the book, it has made my understanding of origin more broader and I can think in multiple lines!

Book Description

This book describes a serious look at defending the planet in the event of an extra-terrestrial invasion. Travis Taylor, et al, have written the definitive book on the defense of earth against a potential alien incursion. Whatever your beliefs on the subject, and despite many of my own popular novels I am agnostic at best, the book also serves as an important primer on the potential future of warfare on every level. It is tightly grounded in current day realities of war and extrapolates thoughtfully but closely about future potentials. It should be on the reading list of anyone who is serious about national security and the future of war.

5 out of 5 stars Remember the Stars.......2007-10-07

An Introduction to Planetary Defense

I remember the stars. No, I remember the promise of the stars--the promise of a future antiseptic and soft around the edges. A promise shattered by the hard reality of the arrival of the Overlords. Now, my days are filled with pain and torment. I labor from dawn to dusk, scrabbling across the harsh desert, imploring the dry earth to give rise to the stark monument demanded by the Overlords to symbolize their power and prestige. I'm but a slave, and according to our masters, a slave requires nothing but work, food, and religion, but I require something more. I require hope. No, I require retribution. I grab a rock. Its rough texture fills my hands. It fills my heart. "Bless this rock, oh Lord. May it crush my enemies' exoskeleton..."

I grew up reading and loving science fiction, and I love reading about aliens. Any story from aliens-are-hungry and coming-to-eat-us, to earth-needs-to-be-demolished-to-make-way-for-an-interstellar-superhighway, but I always found these books in the science fiction section. An Introduction to Planetary Defense: A Study of Modern Warfare Applied to Extra-Terrestrial Invasion is, just like its title says, a book discussing possible events in case an extraterrestrial invasion force one day appeared and started attacking Earth. But it's not a work of fiction.

Nope, the authors are dead serious. The authors, all highly-educated experts in their fields, decided to apply serious science to the matter of defending earth from an alien invasion. They start from the perspective of probabilities. These guys have done their homework and have done a nice breakdown of the "Drake equation", which Cornell astronomer Frank Drake developed for estimating the number of probable civilizations in the Milky Way. They've done the math and according to the "experts" there's a very good probability of at least one ET visit in the course of the average earthling's life span.

Hmm, since mathematics isn't my strongest subject, I'm not going to check their work. But I am familiar with Fermi's paradox, which is the apparent contradiction between the high probability of extraterrestrial civilizations and the lack of evidence or contact with such civilizations. You know, just where is everybody? For a great book on the subject, check out If the Universe is Teeming with Aliens...Where is Everybody? Fifty Solutions to Fermi's Paradox and the Problem of Extraterrestrial Life by Stephen Webb. It gives 50 hypotheses on why we haven't found empirical evidence of probes, starships, or email from little green men.

Ok, so it's a pretty big universe, and there's at least a possibility that we aren't alone. So what are we gonna do about it? Well, just because the authors are paranoid, doesn't mean ET isn't out to get `em. SETI(the search for extraterrestrial intelligence) is basically beaming radio signals advertising "Hey, we're over here". They might as well put up a neon sign that says "Eat at Joe's". Face it, the chance for ET being hostile is at least equal to him being benign and showering us with great technology--such as can openers that actually work.

The authors examine modern warfare and how we might possibly implement our ability to wage war against a significantly advanced alien force. They used various fancy force multipliers and simulations, to come to the conclusion that ET would kick our [...], and that in order to have any chance of survival, a reserve force (the general population) and asymmetrical war (guerrilla tactics) would need to be harnessed to have a fighting chance. These guys motto is "prepare now, survive later." So, it may come at no surprise that they support a big military budget on such things as space lasers and powered armor. I get the impression that these PhDs just want to blow stuff up in a really big, expensive way.

There are also some attempts to examine invading motives of aliens. The human race knows only two motivators. These are 1. Desire for gain and 2. Fear of loss. Aliens may want slaves, food, or just to pick up earth chicks, but the thing to remember about aliens is well, that they're aliens. I did find how mankind might react to an invasion an interesting section. Will we believe it? How will our beliefs and response aid or hinder the overall defense of Earth? Will religious, moral, and ethical beliefs influence the decision-making process, and what are we going to do if the aliens end up looking like demons, or cute, fluffy bunnies? For a more complete look at this fascinating subject, I recommend Contact with Alien Civilizations: Our Hopes and Fears about Encountering Extraterrestrials by Michael Michaud. His analysis suggests that contact is a serious - and not necessarily pleasant - possibility....

Whatever you wish to believe, I have to give the four authors credit for some serious chutzpah (courage bordering on arrogance, roughly equivalent to "nerve") for writing this book. The book did leave me with some thought-provoking questions, and I recall the axiom of my history teacher, "those of you who fail to learn history, will be doomed to repeat it." It brings to mind the Native American tribes of the New World. Surely, if they had known what the white invaders had planned, they would have never granted him a green card? Hmmm...maybe the surest sign of intelligent life in the universe is that they haven't tried to contact us...

3 out of 5 stars Problem is well stated but no easy answers.......2007-08-05

The crux of the problem is that ANY species capable of interstellar travel must have the technology to generate and control energies many orders of magnitude more powerful than mankind's total current production technology. Our largest thermonuclear device ("Tsar Bomba" - the 50 megaton Russian experiment) is of little standing compared to the energy needed for interstellar space flight.

The general serious work on extraterrestial civilizations goes back to Carl Sagan and beyond; even Enrico Fermi touched on the issue. Unfortunately, theories procede from data and there is little of that. Still, the math is persuasive - they are out there.

A weakness is any understanding in the book of a motivation - why would we NEED to mount a defense? What would they be after? A civilization in command of the power needed for interstellar travel could create ANYTHING they wanted. A military strategist needs to understand the opponent's war aims to check them. Our immediate goal in face of initial contact must be gaining time and information so we can influence events.

The suggested institutional arrangements for a secret R&D organization sound plausible although one can have one's doubts about the competence and sense of responsibility of our politicians in supporting it. Geeks can be sooo trusting!

The book is weakest in its indulgence in fantases about robots and weapontry and "mecha." Goofy at best and lowers the tone of the book.

A strength is the discussion of why current national governments have an interest in denial of any contact. Nor do they have any advantage in a common response, al la UN.

As a book on strategy, the authors are no Admiral Mahan, Herman Kahn, Lao Tzu, or von Clausewitz but then, they can't build on millenia of history either.

The issue is one that merits deeper and more thorough thinking. This book is a small step towards making this a topic of respectable conversation.

3 out of 5 stars A good read, despite a few flaws.......2007-07-11

An Introduction to Planetary Defense: A Study of Modern Warfare Applied to Extra-Terrestrial Invasion is, just like its title says, a book discussing possible events in case an extraterrestrial invasion force one day appeared and started attacking Earth. And it's not a work of fiction.

Right... Hmm... Wait, hold that thought for a second... A what? Extraterrestrial invasion force? From outer space you mean?

You bet. And the authors are dead serious. And no, I really don't think it's a book one should ridicule or trivialize. Sure, at first sight it might sound extraordinarily dumb writing a book detailing different ways an extraterrestrial attacker might choose to engage in battle or how we earthlings will be able to best protect both themselves and our society. After all, as far as we know, no solid proof has been found showing that extraterrestrial life forms even exist, much less are able to build interstellar spacecrafts.

Still, the book is most definitely as silly as you might think. First and foremost it's both entertaining and well-written (besides the poor proof-reading), but it also actually does make you think. Because, regardless of how much you laugh at the thought of evil aliens coming to eat us all; there's still a valid idea - unlikely perhaps, but still valid - that it might happen. The universe is larger than any of us can even begin to understand, and go ahead, please prove to me that a malicious alien race on some remote planet somewhere in the vastness of the universe at this very moment is not planning to attack at dear old Mother Earth. Not that the governments of the world immediately will donate money or anything in order to follow the recommendations that are presented in An Introduction to Planetary Defense, but at the same time, it's hardly that a book such as this has been written, in this UFO- and alien-crazy era we live in. Prepare now, survive later, is the motto of the authors, and there might just be more to that perky motto than most people realize.

However, it's not the best book I've ever read, far from it (lightyears, even). At the end the text started to feel seriously repetitive, as if the authors were more interested in producing as many pages as possible instead of focusing on the content. And when they start insinuating how the U.S. - who else? - should take charge and be responsible for the survival of mankind, the whole thing actually comes close to feeling like one big joke. Not only that, seemingly endless number of pages are absolutely packed with various graphs, charts, and equations utterly inconceivable to anyone except mathematical geniuses (which I'm not). And, as mentioned before, the proofreading is way too sloppy.

3 out of 5 stars An effort to be respected, if not a perfect product.......2007-06-27

While I emphatically agree that a more modern, serious treatment of the subject matter for mainstream consumption is long overdue, I was somewhat disappointed in this effort. The book, as others have observed, is fraught with grammar and spelling errors and amateurish drawings (I blame the editor more than the authors) and overall the work feels...well, rushed.

I did get a sense of the authors' passion of the subject matter. Certainly, boring details aside, they plainly state their opposition to others who cite less than obvious, apples-to-oranges mathematical/ probability models to disprove any likelihood of intelligent alien life. As much, the authors are clearly particularly opposed to those who adhere to the belief in advanced ETs who adhere to a benign utopian ideal. One author tellingly relates a past personal confrontation with the late Carl Sagan, in which Dr. Sagan reportedly patently refused to discuss even the possibility of hostile aliens. In this light, such non-substantive errors may be construed as urgency for an opinion to be heard, and to be taken seriously.

Multiple mainstream scifi/space opera references are made, in a seeming attempt to find common ground with the reader of average knowledge/interest; however, several chapters are devoted to mathematical modeling that likely makes many of those same readers either accept these hypotheses as granted (counter to the whole point of the exercises), or skip over such chapters completely. Also, while some such references have clear credibility (for example, the clandestine research facilities in Robert Heinlein's "Sixth Column"), others are somewhat lacking (notably, references to the film "Independence Day"). And some references obvious to my generation of readers (say, Larry Niven's "The Ethics of Madness") are conspicuously absent (possibly due to copyright issues?). Thus, the book teeters somewhere between reference text and pulp entertainment.

Having said all that, I found they do get their point across; the probability of ET existing, being more advanced AND dangerously hostile demonstrably outweighs the possibility of humans being adrift alone in the universe, or accompanied by the beatific angels supposedly "evolved" past all conflict; indeed, the latter viewpoint appears naive (bordering on childish). And if they are out there, we really should be doing something to prepare, other than sending out "WE ARE HERE" messages to anyone who might be listening. To paraphrase Heller, it isn't paranoia if they ARE indeed out to get you, just simple common sense.

I really wanted to like this book. Particularly, other works by Dr. Taylor that I'd read displayed impressive technical knowledge and ideas, and I was looking forward to reading something honest and serious. So while I can easily recommend it to those with similar opinions (that is, if they can stomach technical references to "Independence Day"), I honestly don't know if it would convince someone sitting on the fence, much less on the other side.

Lastly, there's one aspect of Dr. Sagan (as well as Robert Heinlein, Stephen King and even the Church of Scientology) the authors (and publisher) could adopt: release the book in standard mass-market paperback form, at STANDARD PRICES. Almost everything I've ever owned or read by Sagan, Heinlein or Arthur C. Clarke (or for that matter, Niven, Steinbeck, Conan Doyle and the Boy Scout Manual) was in good, old, relatively affordable, easy-to-carry paperback, not some expensive soft-cover pseudo-textbook. If the authors feel their message is that important, they should give the public an alternative to "Cosmos", which even in hardback doesn't cost $34.95. I hold some hope for a revised edition.

2 out of 5 stars Chutzpah defined.......2007-05-13

I HAVE read this book. There are many logical flaws in it, and it is quite disorganized, as others have mentioned. I want to mention one flaw specifically: the treatment of Fermi's paradox.

It takes chutzpah to use the word "blunder" and the name of Nobel Laureate Enrico Fermi in the same sentence. Unfortunately for these authors, chutzpah seems to be all they had to work with. In addressing the paradox, they basically erect a straw man, and then flail away at him rather ineptly.

Somehow the authors have gotten the idea that Fermi assumed an unbounded expontential population growth curve in making his statement that the galaxy should long ago have been completely colonized (and thus exclaiming "so where the heck is everyone"). This is the great "blunder" the authors go on (and on) about. Except as far as I have ever read, Fermi did not make any such assumption, only some fairly conservative assumptions about the velocity with which a wave-front of intelligent life might propagate among solar systems. Fermi's paradox works just fine even with relatively constrained rates of population growth, mainly because the galaxy is so incredibly old, the growth rates assumed almost don't matter as long as they are positive.

The authors belabor all sorts of issues that are irrelevant to the argument, such as predator-prey ratios. And all of their mathematical models are of population growth rates on a two-dimensional surface - the Earth's surface. But the Galaxy is decidedly three-dimensional, having a substantial thickness of over 2000 light-years in our neighborhood, and many times that toward the center.

Even worse, the growth of populations of individuals on a savannah or a planet is not directly analogous to the expansion of civilizations across space by colonizing multiple star systems in succession. Trying to understand the potential expansion of intelligent civilizations across space by looking at populations of people or animals on Earth is somewhat like trying to predict the best strategey for winning a world war by examining how two gang members conducted a knife-fight in a phone booth!

There were provocative ideas raised in this book, but after seeing the hash the authors made of arguing with Fermi's paradox, and the smugness with they chortled over his "amateur blunder", I had difficulty accepting their credibility on anything else in the book.

Alien Agenda is the silk thread leading the way through the maze of UFO literature into the heart of the UFO controversy. While he begins with the premise that the existence of UFOs cannot be denied, Jim Marrs (author of Crossfire, the mother of all John F. Kennedy assassination conspiracy books) boldly strides into the battle over what UFOs are and why they are here. Marrs's investigative skills are invaluable in this re-examination of questions that have been overlooked, unaddressed, or unsatisfactorily resolved.

Book Description

The truth begins here

Author and award-winning Journalist Jim Marrs has uncovered compelling new evidence regarding extraterrestrials-that alien life forms have not only visited our planet in the past, but are among us right now. Drawing on numerous eyewitness accounts, highly classified CIA reports, and his own meticulous research, Marrs marshals an impressive array of facts to confirm the reality of UFOs--as well as the depth of the government campaign to keep America in the dark. 5 out of 5 stars Jin Marrs Alien Agenda.......2007-08-31

This is one of the most interesting books i have ever read. this book is long, about 600 pages, but Jim Marrs does a wonderful job of researching the topic of ET and UFO visitation to this planet. The writing is quite easy to read and it is a hard book to put down. Of all the books on the topic of ET and UFO, I believe this book is the best. I would definitely recommend this book to anybody and for any age group. I look forward to reading more of Mr Marrs' works.

4 out of 5 stars Very interesting.......2006-08-23

A very interesting book. I'm not sure that I subscribe to the scientific validity of regression hypnosis, as it's the foundation of much of the data presented in the book. Nonetheless, eerie and tantalizing recollections of terrifying experiences are presented. The book is definitely entertaining. Makes you wonder????

5 out of 5 stars Still a Classic.......2006-08-22

I'm reading this book for the third time in as many years.

Marrs is really onto something, and his scholarship and journalistic abilities are impeccable. This book should sit with those of Keel and Vallee when it comes to examining the UFO phenomenon.

HIGHLY recommended.

5 out of 5 stars The UFO Threat is Real!.......2006-08-17

_Alien Agenda: Investigating the Extraterrestrial Presence Among Us_ by conspiracy researcher and journalist Jim Marrs provides an interesting study of many of the claims involving the presence of extraterrestrials and UFOs. Marrs starts with the assumption that UFOs are indeed real and that the government is covering up their presence. I am not sure I am quite ready to jump on that bandwagon yet, but there certainly seems to be something going on, and there certainly appears to be a cover-up by scientists and government officials. As Marrs notes, there are different viewpoints by which the existence of extraterrestrials (ETs) may be examined. Some would regard them as angelic beings, fairies, or other fantastic creatures, while others would regard them as life-forms from another planet visiting earth. Fundamentalists may regard them as tools of Satan, and I believe there is some evidence to indicate that UFO abductions may bear the marks of demonic possession, but I also think there is no reason to rule out the existence of ETs a priori. One interesting interpretation of the UFO abduction phenomenon that I read was that of Charles Upton, a traditionalist Sufi, who in the book _The System of Antichrist_ argued that they were in fact the jinn of Islamic lore. In any event, it need not be the case that ETs are ill disposed to mankind, and if they do make contact (provided they have not made contact with us already) it will be necessary to seek a peaceful understanding with them so as to avoid one of the greatest clashes of civilizations imaginable (and also probably one of the greatest and most violent wars). (To this Christian this would also mean telling the ETs about Christ and possibly baptising them.) However, my knowledge of the history of the conflict between Old World and New World peoples leads me to believe that such a peaceful encounter may be too much to ask for.

Among those great minds who have taken on the UFO question include psychoanalyst Carl Jung and the astronomer and computer scientist Jacques Vallee. Both of their works on the subject are excellent. However, it should be noted that the field of ufology is not respected by scientists and that an active presence exists in the scientific community (including such luminaries as the late Carl Sagan) to debunk them. Another individual who provided a study on the alien abduction phenomenon is the Harvard psychiatrist John Mack, though I personally found his work to be less believable especially given his use of hypnosis. UFOs have been sighted in the skies since ancient times, including in the medieval period, and a spacecraft was believed to have crashed in Aurora, Texas in 1897. Perhaps the most famous alleged UFO crash is the crash in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947 which Marrs thoroughly discusses. This crash is believed by many to have been covered up by the government who may have taken the remains to Area 51 in Nevada. Flying saucers were also repeatedly seen by Air Force pilots throughout much of the post-World War II and Cold War period. Marrs discusses a fascinating theory that has been proposed involving the alleged visitation of alien life-forms to our planet in the remote past. According to this "ancient astronaut hypothesis", ETs may have visited earth in the past and may be depicted in various remains of our ancestors. In addition, it is believed by some that ETs may have built some of the most ancient ruins and structures on earth. While interesting, I think these theories are not very likely and that instead these ancient ruins may represent the remains of a global super-civilization of the past and not an extraterrestrial encounter. Marrs also explains the curious relationship between the Nazis and UFOs. It has been suggested by some that the Nazis may have developed flying saucer technology and may have used this technology to escape capture after the Second World War, to relocate, and to travel into various underground bases. Marrs also discusses the role of the United States government in investigating, covering up, and "debunking" UFO claims. Indeed, the CIA (also known for its experiments in mind control and with LSD and other psychoactive drugs) was frequently involved in UFO cover-ups. Marrs discusses theories that the government leaders were planning to escape an imminent global catastrophe by hiding out underground as well as the idea that government leaders may be seeking an escape on another planet. In addition, Marrs discusses several interesting but very strange individuals who claimed to have encountered ETs. These include Eduard Albert Meier (known as "Billy") who claimed contact with the Pleiadians and George Adamski, a Polish immigrant who allegedly met a man from Venus. Some of these claims may be the result of mental imbalance in certain individuals or as part of government disinformation programs. Indeed, many of those who encountered UFOs had active links to government agencies, often with top secret security clearances. Marrs takes on other issues such as abduction, mentioning such cases as those of Whitley Streiber and Travis Walton, crop circles, and animal mutilations. While the presence of crop circles was originally thought to be a prank after two hoaxers were caught, they continued to crop up all over the world leading to the inevitable conclusion that the vast majority of them were not pranks at all. Animal mutilations were thought to be the work of Satanists or other cultists, but again lack of evidence may point in other directions. Marrs also provides an interesting discussion of the government's dabbling in remote viewing. The military and government have experimented with mind control, drugs, and other strange phenomenon so it only stands to reason that they would attempt to experiment with remote viewers and other psychics. Interestingly, UFOs continue to crop up over and over again in the drawings of remote viewers. It also is interesting to point out that officially the mainstream scientific consensus is that remote viewing is a chimera, so it is odd to find out that those very same government sponsored scientists are investigating this phenomenon behind the scenes. It would appear that so long as ordinary people do not attempt to understand it, it is a legitimate area of inquiry for government regulation! Marrs next turns his attention to the "metaphysical implications" of an ET encounter. These implications are perhaps the most interesting for philosophers and other theorists attempting to get a grip on our reality. Finally, Marrs turns his attention to the whole idea of who really rules in the world. According to science fiction, the first command an alien life-form would give to humanity would be "Take me to your leader!" so a natural question is who really has the power on earth. Marrs mentions such groups as the Bilderbergers and other secret elite societies. In particular, those who control the money are those who wield the real power, and this would mean the international bankers. Marrs shows how the Federal Reserve Banking System poses such a threat to our liberty and represents the machinations of a disinterested elite.

This book offers an excellent introduction to the entire UFO phenomenon. Marrs thoroughly investigates many of the encounters and occurrences surrounding UFOs, the government cover-ups, and poses some of the philosophical questions that would ensue given an encounter. While I am not sure whether ETs exist or not, I do think that something is definitely going on, and that the government is definitely trying to cover it up. Those who bravely dare to challenge established opinion risk much to reveal the truth behind the machinations of the elite manipulators.

5 out of 5 stars One of the Best books I have Ever read!.......2006-08-07

Wow! Jim Marrs has done his homework and provided a vast amount of information from different perspectives. He discusses the UFO phenomenon throughout history to the present day, including inside info. on possible underground alien communities existing on Earth and Mars.
The book starts off with UFOs and the secret interest of world governments, the development of advanced technologies, and then goes into abductions, animal mutilations, crop circles, remote viewing, and the future of our planet.
I especially learned a lot from the last chapter, which explains the history of the Federal Reserve Bank and certain secret societies of the wealthy, elite few who rule this world through the use of worthless paper money.
You should definitely read this book! I took my time with it and absorbed every word. It was well worth the time. Thank you Jim Marrs!
