Easy Read.......2007-09-05
I found this book to be a very easy read. It gives very simple straight forward explanations and rationale for the diet and it's theories. It further reads like an instruction manual and very clearly explains what foods are beneficial, neutral, or an avoid. Pretty straight forward, if it's beneficial eat it, if it's an avoid, avoid it. And if it's a neutral it has little significance either way, so you can eat it but don't make it a diet staple.
Great Way to Lose Weight -- Best for Type O.......2007-08-24
I have followed the guidelines in this book loosely for 2 weeks and have lost over 8 pounds. Which is a 20% of the weight I want to lose by December. I am type O which is the best type to be on this diet because it allows for a larger range of foods. Type O's should definately try this diet, and its not hard to follow. The Other blood types should try this as well, but food options are more restricted. So if you have a hard time avoiding certain foods this may not be for you.

I have found it to be the most moving and inlighting book I have read.
Having Diabetes I was not happy with my body, I did not like shots.
Now all I do is watch what I eat and when NO shots or Pills just diet.
I feal better then I ever have and my Doctor is amazed.
You have to try it it works.

In John Robbins new book, "Healthy At 100", he studies the Abkhasians of the Caucasus Mountains, the Vilcabambans of Ecuador and the Hunzans of Pakistan. These are probably the three healthiest populations in the world. None of them prepare special foods for different people of different blood types. Yet they are almost universally healthy and happy.
Weston Price traveled the world back in the 1930s and examined the healthiest tribes of people to be found. None of them prepared different foods for people of different blood types.
To the best of my knowledge, there has never been a single scientific study demonstrating that people of different blood types have different nutritional needs.
Blood type diets are nothing more than silly mumbo-jumbo. Why do people embrace this kind of dietary cult? I'm not sure. Maybe because people feel a need to be segmented and divided in some way. This is MY special blood type diet! I eat this and you shouldn't. Maybe people embrace this stuff because it helps rationalize decisions that they have already made.

Many people believe that globalization and its key components have made matters worse for humanity and the environment. Indur M. The Improving State of the World represents an important contribution to the environment versus development debate and collects in one volume for the first time the long-term trends in a broad array of the most significant indicators of human and environmental well-being, and their dependence on economic development and technological change. While noting that the record is more complicated on the environmental front, the author shows how innovation, increased affluence and key institutions have combined to address environmental degradation. The author notes that the early stages of development can indeed cause environmental problems, but additional development creates greater wealth allowing societies to create and afford cleaner technologies. Development becomes the solution rather than the problem. He maintains that restricting globalization would therefore hamper further progress in improving human and environmental well-being, and surmounting future environmental or natural resource limits to growth. **Key points from the book** * The rates at which hunger and malnutrition have been decreasing in India since 1950 and in China since 1961 are striking. By 2002 China's food supply had gone up 80%, and India's increased by 50%. Overall, these types of increases in the food supply have reduced chronic undernourishment in developing countries from 37 to 17%, despite an overall 83% growth in their populations. * Economic freedom has increased in 102 of the 113 countries for which data is available for both 1990 and 2000. * Disability in the older population of such developed countries as the U.S., Canada, France, are in decline. In the U.S. for example, the disability rate dropped 1.3 % each year between 1982 and 1994 for persons aged 65 and over. * Between 1970 and the early 2000s, the global illiteracy rated dropped from 46 to 18 percent. * Much of the improvements in the United States for the air and water quality indicators preceded the enactment of stringent national environmental laws as the Clean Air Act of 1970, Clean Water Act of 1972, and the Safe Drinking Water Act of 1974. * Between 1897-1902 and 1992-1994, the U.S. retail prices of flour, bacon and potatoes relative to per capita income, dropped by 92, 85, and 82 percent respectively. And, the real global price of food commodities has declined 75% since 1950.

Right, but... .......2007-06-22
Indur Goklany has written a very convincing and fact-filled work arguing that Mankind is thanks primarily to technological development on a progressive path towards greater and greater well- being. As the subtitle of the book says he argues that we are living longer , healthier more comfortable lives on a cleaner planet.
In an outstanding review of this book in 'Foreign Affairs'James Suroweicki suggests it is the Industrial Revolution that is at the heart of the economic and social transformation which is the subject of this book.
"In the West, above all, the effects of this transformation have been so massive as to be practically unfathomable. Real income, life expectancy, literacy and education rates, and food consumption have soared, while infant mortality, hours worked, and food prices have plummeted. And although the West has been the biggest beneficiary of these changes, the diffusion of technology, medicine, and agricultural techniques has meant that developing countries have enjoyed dramatic improvements in what the United Nations calls "human development indicators," even if most of their citizens remain poor. One consequence of this is that people at a given income level today are likely to be healthier and to live longer than people at the same income level did 40 or 50 years ago.
But Suroweicki takes objection to the idea that it is unregulated free market which alone can deal with environmental problems and points out that it is only through various government initiatives that the quality of air and water has improved in most Western cities.
This book does a good job of debunking the work of the doomsayer demographers of the Ehrlich, Club of Rome school which were at the heart of public awareness in the nineteen seventies.
To do this it amasses a tremendous amount of evidence as to the generally improved quality of life in most geographical regions. It does note the exceptions in sub- Saharan Africa and Russia.
Yet it does not give sufficient attention to such possibly catastrophic processes as nuclear proliferation. Nor does he consider the full effect of radical fundamentalist Islam both on the standards, level of economic development in Islamic societies- but on their general capacity for bringing through war disruption and even disaster to the world.
Nor does he consider the damage wrought by new technology on the family, and the overall mental health - profile of mankind. The great growth in mental illness, primarily Depression certainly is related to disruptive effects of new technology.
Thus while presenting a very convincing case that technological progress has given us longer, more prosperous lives Goklany does not reckon fully the negative consequences which have also come with this.
Antidote to Disaster.......2007-05-13
Probably one of the most important, well written, and throughly researched books on the topic of human development and the way we interact with our environment to come out in the past decade. It is a detailed and unapologetic look at what is really going on and where we should properly focus our attention in the future.
It is a brilliant answer to the eco-doom "best-sellers" that have proliferated recently. Highly recommended for those who want to KNOW, not just pontificate and pursue a political agenda.

To this end, he recommends a three-pronged approach: a very specific 28-day diet; supplements taken morning, noon, and night; and his own line of "topical" cosmetics, all aimed at boosting the body's levels of "peptides and neuropeptides." These substances, according to Perricone, are not only the building blocks of the skin's collagen, but an integral part of the functioning of the immune system, and may prevent inflammation in the body that's associated with such illnesses as arthritis and heart disease.

I tried Perricone's diet and it makes me feel good and active. He has done his research and is aware of the new products available. I did not try the supplements. I felt they are over priced.

The Smart-Aging Bible.......2007-06-10
Dr. Nicholas Perricone is perhaps the leading expert on "smart-aging" diet and nutritional supplements.
His advice on the best foods / beverages and the most scientifically-advanced nutritional supplements is FAR ahead of any other "expert" out there.
Being in the nutritional supplement industry, I can vouch that what he says about specific supplements is scientifically accurate.
I especially like what he says about the nutrients Alpha Lipoic Acid, Acetyl-L-Carnitine, Benfotiamine (fat-soluble vitamin B1) and Carnosine as being the most powerful "age-fighting" supplements avialable.
For those of you who can afford the supplements...and some of the foods he recommends, I can virtually guarantee you that you will see & feel results very fast.
For those of you that complain about how much the foods / supplements / cosmaceuticals cost..."don't shoot the messenger" (Dr. Perricone)...he doesn't set the prices on most of these products - especially the foods and supplements.
The alternative is to keep eating the typical "Standard American Diet" (ironically called SAD), so you can continue to look and feel like hell, and set yourself up for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, macular degeneration and all the "wonderful" things associated with getting older.
He is sharing the science of "smart-aging" with you, so you can make highly informed / educated decisions about what foods / supplements / skincare products to use to feel & look your absolute best.

It hasn't been clinically proven that Perricone skin products work. My mom (age 46) tried them anyway, and they didn't work.
His advice to stay away from grains (and whatever comes from them, of course) is great, but not new. Yes, farm-raised salmon is screwed up, eat the wild one, but again, I knew that already.
And I disagree with his complicated "system" of taking supplements. If you just eat normal food, like vegetables and fruit, NOT grains and soda, you won't need supplements. The only supplement you need is fish oil, since farm-raised animals that we eat lack necessary fatty acids.

Written as an easily accessible plan based on his Ageless Body, Timeless Mind, Deepak Chopra's Grow Younger, Live Longer presents many of the same quantum-based theories of aging as simply a matter of changing your perception. But here, you'll find the format greatly simplified into 10 short chapters, each with a single focus. Each step is fairly basic and combines visualization and breathing exercises with the behavior modifications we've come to expect when we try to get healthier, such as more exercise, balanced eating, avoidance of toxins, and regular sleep. Clear diagrams are included as necessary, such as with his yoga stretches and breathing exercises, and tables have been provided for a quick glance at some recommendations for vitamins. A handful of internationally inspired vegetarian recipes is tucked in the back and are a fun way to introduce some unusual flavors to your meals.
A regular complaint about Chopra's books is the lack of clear data to back up his claims, and this has not changed. He provides numerous anecdotal accounts of folks ridding themselves of cancer, AIDS, or high blood pressure. For many lay readers, these anecdotes provide enough encouragement to try Chopra's program and improve their outlook on life; medical professionals may just be annoyed. Lack of research aside, it's hard to argue with the suggestions. From "connecting more openly with your coworkers" to "always use sunscreen when you are outdoors" and "drink plenty of fresh water throughout the day," the majority of Chopra's methods seem based in common sense, with his "Quantum Realm" as the seasoning that adds a little exciting flavor to a very basic recipe. --Jill Lightner

If your following that path to Holistic Health and want a book that tells it all, here it is... You will find this book as a useful tool incorporating Nutrition, Yoga and many other tips on how to simply feel good and in turn start to look good! It is absolutely fabulous, easy reading, and very informative from a "Scientific" medical standpoint.
Useful Advice For Quality of Life and Perhaps A Longer Life.......2004-11-28
I took the audio program of this book out from my library due to sheer curiosity and since then have bought the book in print because I though it would be easier to use it as a reference that way.
I have many of Dr. Chopra's audio tapes and while I don't take everything he says at face value I try to stay open to what he says on any given program and judge the material for it's own merits.
Of course Dr. Chopra's popularity as a "Pop Culture Guru" can make it tempting to take him less seriously and write off anything he does as just another way for him to make a buck. Sometimes I myself feel this way due to the "factory-like" volume of materials that have come out under his authorship. Also, I do find that Deepak can get somewhat repetitive in much of his talk about "Cybernetic Feedback Loops" and the like :)
Still, I always feel that if there's even one idea that can be helpful it is worth the effort and I generally get some benefit out of Deepak's work which is what led me to check this out.
What I found on this particular program was a lot of good advice for living a healthier and less stressful life. While I'm not a scientist, it seems quite obvious that anyone with a brain and common sense would realize that if you actually follow the advice given on this program you could only realize tremendous benefits on many levels.
Perhaps the only thing that might be considered "hocus pocus" by the mainstream medical community is Dr. Chopra's use of affirmations. While I'm generally not personally drawn to use affirmations , I would have to at least admit that if an affirmation helps one to focus on something positive rather than something negative it certainly can't hurt.
As far as the claims of a program like this making you live longer, who knows, BUT it seems quite clear to me that if you follow this program you will in the least feel better during whatever time you do have. Not only that, it seems pretty logical that if you do follow the useful advice on this program and therefore improve your overall physical and mental well being that it should translate into having a longer life than if you didn't follow the advice, and there is a LOT of practical and sound advice here.
I would be wary of some of the obviously jaded and arrogant scientific criticism that I read in previous reviews listed here concerning this book. My experience with the book is that those criticisms didn't ring true. While I can understand their concerns that this book may make some bold claims which they don't feel are scientifically proven, in general it appears that scientists seem to have a very narrow window that they look through and if it doesn't fit their world view then they think it's false.
The danger is that they think their world view is one based on facts, but perhaps they fail to realize or admit that they are limited by their current level of understanding, methods and equipment.
It wasn't so long ago that Newton was THE voice of physics and Quantum physics didn't exist as a scientific discipline. It wasn't so long ago that Galileo was given quite a hard time for views that are obvious to us now. There are other world views out there, that are equally valid. There are also many other approaches to well being that have been working for thousands of years, long before there was the American Medical Association and the like.
Likewise it also always amazes me how many doctors like to write off certain healing anomalies as a "placebo effect". What they fail to admit is that the whole notion of a "placebo effect" in and of itself is quite miraculous and shows that there are possibilities beyond what many Western doctors and scientists would like to admit is possible. Just because they can't quantify it doesn't make it invalid.
All that being said :)
Aside from the "Affirmations", this book is actually very grounded and filled with excellent and practical advice and one doesn't need to have a Ph.D. in aging to realize it's benefits. Anyone who "has a body" and common sense can benefit by good nutrition, exercise and stress reduction and therefore can benefit by the information in this program.
This book IS by the way co-authored by two doctors, one of which is Dr. David Simon. Dr. Simon was trained in neurology but came to feel the limitations of Western medicine as a sole healing modality. His search has led him to an integrative approach utilizing the best of so called "Conventional" and "Alternative" disciplines.
I am currently reading two of his books "Vital Energy" and "Wisdom of Healing" which are excellent. I was first exposed to Dr. Simon through a 12 tape audio program he did with Deepak Chopra called "Training the mind, Healing the Body" which is fascinating and very helpful. I was deeply impressed with Dr. Simon's deep knowledge, obvious sincerity, and compassion. After encountering that program I started searching out more of his materials which have all been outstanding!

After hearing the lecture and reading the book, I finally found the courage and inspiration to finish my own book. This book is a true gem! It's recommended reading for everybody who is interested in feeling better, healthier and looking younger. The book offers a 10-step program to achieving this, and is written in a nicely, loving and easy to understand way.
The negative reviews here on amazon are coming from people who never devoted any time to practicing the exercises in this book. Anyone who has spend some time doing the exercises can account for the splendid results they produce!
So if you are looking for a well written and practical guide to health, youth and joy, read this book.
And for those of you who want a good laugh, go to Master Hoax Elixxer's (the guy who is writing his own positive reviews on amazon because no sane person will) website. It's amazing how much BS can fit in one website...

I really give it 3 1/2 stars, but that's not an option.
There were many things I thought were well-done in this book. Cherniske has a conversational writing tone, so it's a fun read. There's alot of useful health information on diet, lifestyle, medical tests, supplements, etc.
This book overall seems to be addressed only at people whose health is declining due to poor diet, exercise, age, lifestyle, lack of vitamins, etc. The biggest thing missing is that there is no mention of food intolerances/allergies, which are quite common and can contribute to mysteriously declining health! In a book that was meant to be a comprehensive guide to staying younger longer, I would expect to find a Chapter on this, or at least a page! But it isn't even mentioned in the Nutritional chapter. So you could follow Cherniske's plan but if you have an underlying health issue, you'll still feel unwell.
My advice - declining health even though you "eat well," exercise, and sleep plenty? Make sure you don't have food allergies/intolerances or some other type of chronic issue that won't go away with exercise and supplements.

I have met the author. He walks the talk. He is late fifties and his medical tests are that of a college student. He is vibrant, funny, and extremely intelligent. I have bought several copies of this book to give away. Aging doesn't have to be a mystery or a drag. It can slow down enough to enjoy and still be mentally, physically and spiritually fit.
Opens your eyes to the potential.......2007-01-28
This book is "ok" in the sense that it opens your eyes to the potential that everyone has for deferring and reversing the aging process.
Its message can be summarised as "eat lots of varied foods, with emphasis on a few 'super foods', avoid stress, exercise a bit and take DHEA"
*** BE WARNED ***
If you live outside of the US, taking DHEA might not be possible. For example, I live in Australia - here DHEA is classified as an anabolic steroid and banned. You can't buy it (other than a diluted tablet that contains virtually zero) and if you import it without a license you can be prosecuted. So there goes a large part of this book's message down the drain.
Also, I'm not too convinced by the exercise programs layed out in the book - I think they are too mild... but if your older or particularly out of shape, then they are a heck of a lot better than nothing.
If I could buy DHEA and it did everything Stephen claimed, I would have given 5 stars. Since I can't, I awarded 3 stars.

Everyone, but especially baby-boomers will benefit immensely from the scientific and fact-based information presented in lay terms that are easily understood. What is happening to our bodies as we age, why we are more succeptable to a variety of maladies as we age, why is exercise so difficult when we all rationally know that it's good for us; all these are answered in clear language as well as much more. This book explains how we can take control of our health without the use of pharmaceuticals and all their damaging side-effects. Eyeopening and guaranteed to improve the quality of life for all it's readers.

Learning about hormonal deficienties.......2007-05-15
This book is clearly written. The author makes it possible for everyone to get a clue about which hormones might be missing in his/her body before visiting a health professional. Many health issues are covered with the specific hormonal deficienties. I found it very clarifying and it brought me a step forwards in my search for my lost health. I have read also the books of John R. Lee. The book of Thierry Hertoghe gives not so much information about what one can do self in comparison with the books of Lee on female issues.
Doctors Also Can Learn From This Book.......2005-09-06
What I like well in this book is the numerous tables, the questionnaires and the lists that summarize the essential data in each chapter.
What I like most in this book is the emphasis on clinical signs and symptoms for the diagnosis of hormonal imbalance rather than the usual relying on lab test only.
The author is from the fourth generation in a family of physician specializing in hormones well before the term "Endocrinology" had been invented. His great-grandfather, Dr. Eugene Hertoghe has given his name to the "Sign of Hertoghe", the shorter eyebrows of people with hypothyroidy and his father, Dr. Jacques Hertoghe has introduced the now widely used 24 hours thyroid hormone test. The test much better correlates with the signs, symptoms and complaints of thyroid hormone utilization than the usual thyroid hormone blood tests.
With his seminars and publications the author is well in line with the tradition of his family.
This book is a major contribution to our understanding of hormonal processes. I recommend this book to every person (inclusive physicians) interested in learning more about the way hormones affect us in all the aspects of our existence.
If You Haven't Been Feeling Well & Don't Know Why, It May Be Whacked Out Hormones.......2005-09-04
I love how this book was written. Originally I set out to just do some learning on Bio-identical Hormones for a friend and found out that I may have issues with my own hormones.
He talks about what can happen to our bodies when our hormones are not balanced, and over the long-term, can lead to diseases.
The book is broken down into 4 major areas:
1. Hormones
2. Body
3. Mind
4. Hormone Solution
In Chapter 2 (which is a part of #1), he gives a quiz (Part I) on each of the 15 hormones he talks about in his book and the symptoms of deficiency. The hormones would be ACTH, Aldosterone, Calcitonin, Cortisol, DHEA, EPO, Estrogen, Growth Hormone, Insulin, Melatonin, Pregnenolone, Progesterone, Testosterone, Thyroid Hormones, and Vasopressin.
In Part II of the quiz, he quizzes your Energy, Sex, Sleep, Skin/Hair, Weight Control, Stress, Mood, Circulation (Heart & STroke), Joints, Bones, and Immune System.
It takes a bit to complete the full quiz, but well worth it. With the Part II stuff, he goes into further details about each of these.
In each of those sections, he'll talk about detecting & decoding one's deficiencies, how to eat to heal, the nutrients needed, supplementation, scientific evidence/studies, and concludes with summary of each of the 15 hormones that may impact that particular issue (i.e., weight issue).
For the Hormone Solution, he breaks this down into:
1. The hormone
2. Treatment
3. Recommended dosage & frequency
4. What they may be associated to in terms of impact with other hormones.
He has a couple pages for resources and 59 pages of references. WOW!!!
This book was very informative and the first book I read on hormones. I've since read several other books, but still like this one the best.
A good compliment to this book is Natural Hormone Balance for Women by Dr. Uzzi Reiss, who is a ob-gyn in Beverly Hills. He covers some other things Dr. Hertoghe doesn't.
Something I'd like to mention is I did go get a 24-hr urine analysis that looked at a number of the hormones mentioned in this book. His quiz made it fairly easy for me to have my doctor test for certain things and they were fairly close to being correct.
My naturopath has now given me some BIHs to help me rebalance those hormones I was deficient in. Am feeling so much better and this was about 3.5 weeks ago.

I found this book to be well organized and easy to read and understand. There is a wealth of information about the role of hormones in the body, and the consequences of not having enough as you age. I enjoyed the detailed explanation of the function of each hormone. At the end of each section, Dr. Hertoghe adds a one page table of a condensed version of his recommendations for easy reference. That makes the book very user friendly. The book has information that is revelant to older and middle aged people, as well as people in their twenties. I thought I could share this book with my sister, but we both like it so much as a reference that we had to buy another one. Thanks to Dr. Hertoghe for shedding light on so many hormonal changes associated with getting older. Can't live without it anymore!

Dr. Mayer brings numerous perspectives (Western psychologist, storyteller, student of Greek civilization) to his 30+ years of practice of Qigong to deliver an easy-to-read guide to this Chinese method of healing. His broad learning allows Dr. Mayer to share insights and ideas that help both novice and experienced practitioner obtain a deeper experience of the stances and movements that he clearly describes (with accompanying photos). His academic training shows through the logical and systematic development of ideas and exercises in the book. Overall, it was really easy to read, and also easy to use as a guide to various "sets" of Qigong methods for "bodymind healing". The appendices which give a guide to exercises for self-healing and research are useful for quick reference, as well. A great buy.

This book educates you on your body and how it works. Then, Dr. Bernard tells you how you can use that knowledge to lose weight permanently and feel great. It is not about a "diet" but rather about how to eat to get your body to perform at its best which naturally results in weight loss. Dr. Bernard covers different problem areas of health such as high blood pressure and diabetes and how changing our eating habits can improve them. At the back of the book are many recipes which help you to get started.
I highly recommend this book as it will help you learn about your body and what it needs and what happens when it gets the wrong "fuel". I've read it twice and its on my Christmas list!
An Eye Opener on the Effects of Diet on Health and Disease.......1998-07-22
The advise in this book can extend your life and improve your health. No one knows what the "optimal" diet is, but Dr. Barnard shows that there is overwhelming evidence that the common dietary practices in America are responsible for a great deal of avoidable illness and early death. He backs up his statements with health statistics and numerous references to studies published in well-known journals. He shows that high rates of heart disease, cancer, and many other life threatening diseases are *not* natural -- they are primarily the result of poor diet and/or smoking. For some diseases, our risk can be reduced more than 50% by following the sort of diet recommended in this book.
The book, like Dr. Barnard's previous books "The Power of Your Plate" and "Food for Life", is clearly written and invites the reader to examine the evidence and decide for himself. The author also gives suggestions for making a change in diet easier and encou! ragement that it will be an enjoyable, sustainable transition.
There are two things I don't like about this book: the second half of the book is nothing but recipes, and this book follows a trend toward dumbing-down the presentation (in comparison with "The Power of Your Plate" and "Food for Life"). The author tries to make his presentation friendlier and more understandable to sixth graders through the use of analogies and explanations of biological phenomenon in overly simplistic terms. The book would be better if it contained more depth and more precise language. For these reasons I rated it only 3-stars.
Still, this book is well worth reading. If you're following the FDA's dietary guidelines, you are almost certainly shortening your own lifespan. The advise in this book could add years and improve the health of most Americans.
This book convinced me to become a vegetarian........1998-06-04
Dr. Barnard gives excellent descriptions of how our bodies process foods and how the typical American diet focused on hormone-laden meats puts undue stress on our systems and causes early breakdown. He shows how a diet focused on fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes allows our bodies to function optimally, which in turn, gives us greater chances for disease-free longer life. Includes many recipes to help make the transition to this kind of healthy diet. I recommend this book if you are interested in nutrition!

Most of all, "Lower Your Blood Pressure in Eight Weeks" is about using conventional prescription medicines as a last rather than a first resort.
So how do the Sinatras suggest doing this?

I never thought I'd find a cardiologist who agrees with me that prescription drugs are a last resort, but here he is. Believe it or not, he even understands enough about real life to tell you to get your chi in shape! If you want to know which supplements live up to their hype (and some of them do), this is the book you need.

Ever wonder what Asparagus, Avacados and Anger have to do with hypertension? Although some folks suggest you should not eat Avocados if you are on a low fat diet, perhaps you will reconsider after you read Steven and Jan Sinatra's book. And although asparagus are available seasonally, so you may want to eat as many of the fresh ones as you can and avoid the canned variety unless you wash the salt off. Frozen asparagus are okay but they lack the crunch of course. The Sinatras say your best bet is to freeze your own.
Anger is the killer. Try yoga, deep breathing exercises, aromatherapy, and pets to release anger. Bodywork including massage will lower your blood pressure if you get angry. Working out with weights or walking can be wonderful stress relievers.
Quercetin in tea and/or red wine may be better for you than taking medications with COX-2 inhibitors. The Sinatras include meal plans and recipes. I'm already eating lots of soy and rice, but the Sinatras offer many other good ideas. My philosopy is `Take what you need and leave the rest" and there is plenty I can take from this book.

Dr. Sinatra has used all the latest and smartest scientific info to devise a unique and effective program for anyone who wants to lower high blood pressure. I have read two of Dr. Sinatra's other books--on coenzyme Q10, and on the role of emotions in heart disease--and found them unfailingly informative, sensible, practical and insightful. I highly recommend this book.

Originally I thought this guy looked crazy and was too Spiritual and weird for me to learn from.
Then I listened and found out he is a medical genius and probably will revolutionize medicine in the next 100 years. His methods for being healthy are the best out there right now. This program covers everything and should be given to everyone who is alive.
I am 24 and super healthy and people ask me why I do all this health stuff? I am not sick but it interests me.
It blows my mind that people don't care to learn about their health. IF YOU HAVE A BODY AND LIVE, THEN YOU SHOULD BE CONCERNED WITH THE BEST METHODS OF TAKING CARE OF IT.

For months I've been listening to this CD set, trying to integrate the principles of Dr. Weil's teachings into my life. By increasing whole grains (I now eat a mixture of pumpkin seeds, roasted corn and roasted soy), discovering new natural remedies and exploring the ideas of how the body is always seeking to regain balance, I have learned a great deal about integrative medicine. Instead of just trying to solve problems as they occur, Dr. Weil seeks to encourage a preventative lifestyle that includes healthy choices and healing herbs.
Can we interact with allergens without having allergies?
Does our body truly want to be healthy and what are the obstacles to healing?
Should you avoid fructose?
Is eating pasta better than bread?
What is disconnection syndrome?
How can you become more self-reliant in regards to your health?
Which is more healthy - olive oil or chocolate?
How does your skin react to emotions?
By reigning in the forces of nature, there is a huge potential for healing. Cooking can become a healing meditation, buying yourself flowers promotes healing and remembering to spend time in nature can encourage positive emotional states.
Dr. Weil is very intuitive and is not held down by any single system of belief. He fully explores all possibilities and takes remedies from a wide variety of alternative medicine traditions.
I've learned so much by listening to these CDs. Simple ideas like adding blueberries to pancakes or eating more fiber with meals can increase your health.
In a world of confusing health advice, fad diets and doctors who seem opposed to using natural remedies, Dr. Weil bring clarity to the topic of integrative medicine. I am only left contemplating why most doctors would so freely give me medications with horrendous lists of side effects and fear beautiful plants, herbal remedies and comforting solutions to life's ever changing complexity.
Dr. Weil makes complete sense! I hope doctors everywhere will start reading his work and listening to his CD sets. Also look for Dr. Andrew Weil's Mindbody Tool Kit with breath work, meditation, guided imagery and sound therapy.
