Customer Reviews:
Awesome!!!!!!.......2007-04-10
This is a must have for the A and P section of the test. I used this and passed with 4 high markings out of 6 as a result. I also bought the other guide like this. The other guide went over assesment and application.
Wonderful Tool.......2006-05-05
I only ordered volume 1 of this set of 3. I felt that this area is where I needed to review the most. The book is a little less than 1000 questions and answers. I felt that it was extremely helpful and I would recommend it to anyone taking this exam. I passed on the high end of 4 out of the 6 sections of the exam! I wasn't sure at first about purchasing because of the amount but I took a chance and now feel that it was well worth it.
Awesome!!.......2003-12-02
951 questions and answers!! This book was essential to my passing the NCBTMB the first time. I learned a great deal from this book and well as from Volumes 2 and 3. I was surprised at the number of test questions about Traditional Chinese Medicine. This book provides a great deal of information on that topic.
951 extremely thourough and detailed review questions!!.......2003-11-20
This was a great book to use in preparation for the NCBTMB exam, even though some of the questions were a little TOO esoteric (5 questions on hyoid muscles? Come on! How often does one massage the THROAT? And the bulbospongious and levator ani? Yeah, right! I massage those every time - NOT!) Even so, it helped me focus on what was for me the most difficult and challenging part of the exam and to find the "holes" in my knowledge. Questions arent' mixed up, but are in order, so it's possible to review a system, take the questions, correct, then review again. HIGHLY recommended!

Customer Reviews:
great resource for its size.......2006-02-26
Most A&P textbooks are just too big to be useful for review. This Cliffs Quick Review is great in that they have packed a lot of important information into such a small and readable book. The figures and tables don't compare artistically to those found in the extremely expensive full color glossy pages of the latest textbooks, but they are competitive in terms of being useful and helpful for learning. This book is a very good resource for review. You may need to use other resources if, for example, you want to review more than the very basics of physiology, but for a general review this book does just fine.
A&P made easy.......2006-02-03
I bought this book for my Anatomy & Physiology I and II classes. It was a huge help to me. Topics are made easy to understand, and it is very portable with is smaller size. It is very clear and concise and includes helpful charts and diagrams. So if you are needing a little extra help with these classes, I would recommend this book. It's cheap, not bulky, and makes difficult concepts easy.
Good review.......2004-01-24
The book covers important topics in anatomy and phys succintly. However, I kept getting distracted by all of the typos in the book! If you can get past that fact that it needs to be edited, it is helpful.
Good study guide to take to the gym or errands.......2003-12-12
I found this book a good concise study guide that I could take to the gym or when I'm somewhere waiting and have a couple of extra minutes to study. It breaks down the A&P chapters to simple terms which can finally be the lightbulb you're looking for when dealing with complicated A&P topics. I got an "A" in my class, but more credit goes to the wonderful study guides [Anatomy and Physiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations by Patrick Leonardi Volume 1 & 2]. Leonardi's study guides, written by an actual professor, are chock full of questions and answers to each A&P chapter, including all of the difficult concepts. It was great because I could mess up taking his tests and know that I needed to study that area further, and not make my mistakes on the real test!! It is an invaluable guide, and while the Cliffs Quick Review is a good primer, to get really in depth, get the Leonardi books!! You won't regret it!!
Good reference for college anatomy and physiology.......2003-10-11
It's a good book and helped to cut some of my study time studying for my exams in my college A and P class. It's definitely to the point and written in a reader friendly fashion. However, I was recommended another study guide from my pre-med friends at another college which is the following: Key Facts for Anatomy and Physiology ISBN: 0971999694
This study guide helped me to prepare for the specific key facts asked on my A & P exams. It also helped me to cut my study time because it cut away a lot of the fluff in over-written textbooks. I got good grades with the help of these study guides I highly advise getting these 2 study guides.

Great tool for anyone taking A&P. Easy pictures to follow and great study questions. A must for passing this class.
Anatomy & Physiology Coloring Workbook 8th edition.......2007-01-21
This book was necessary for my schooling. Its good.
great textbook adjunct.......2006-11-27
This book was really useful - the coloring parts are especially good if you are a visual learner. There's also more to it than just coloring in pictures - there are lots of fill-in-the-blanks sections to test your knowledge and review major ideas. This is where the only criticism lies....if you don't have the textbook (or a good knowledge of the material) then some sections will be hard to complete. Answers are provided, however, so overall, it is a really useful book and offers more than you might first assume.
Dissapointed.......2006-08-13
The paper has a wax like feel. It is slippery for colored pencil. There is not enough tooth in the paper to hold the colored pencil. No fun. :(
Great filler and study guide.......2006-07-21
I needed a good 'filler' and study guide for my Anatomy classes and this seems to fill the need beautifully. Not used it yet but will come back after the year starts in Sept. and give an update.

If you want an "A", this book will help you get it!!.......2003-12-10
I bought both this book and Volume 2 in the series [Anatomy and Physiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations (Volume 2: Orientation of the Body, Cells, Tissues, Integumentary System) by Patrick Leonardi] and both these books helped me get an "A" in my A&P class!! They helped to reinforce the book material and quickly showed me which areas I didn't understand so I could study and get better grades for each exam. Many of the topics in A&P are complicated and it's VERY helpful to have a wonderful resource guide such as this to anticipate test questions so you can make your mistakes with the resource guide and not on your tests.

Excellent Resource.......2006-11-25
I think this book was the difference between an A and a B. I liked that it was quick, to the point and relevant.
Definitely worth the money!.......2005-02-09
So what if it's $45? This study guide focuses on what you need to know and gives you a very good idea of what's going to be on the exams. It's more than worth the money!
Helped me get an "A" in A&P.......2003-12-16
I found this book to be very helpful, especially when used with Volume I. I quizzed myself with his questions and answers after I read a chapter, and usually found that I didn't understand a section deeply enough. I'd much rather get questions wrong before the test than during! Many of the questions on the test were very similar to his questions. I'd recommend this Volume & also Volume 1 if you are looking for good grades for A&P. You can't do wrong by learning from a former professor of A&P!
Awesome Study Guide.......2003-03-27
I found this book to be great for helping me get an "A" in my anatomy and physiology class in college. It's to the point and focused on key topics. It helped me focus on the type of questions that my teacher asked on my final. Thanks Dr. Leonardi for writing this book. This book is a must buy for any undergraduate A and P student, massage therapy student, or anyone wanting to know more about anatomy and physiology. I also used Volume 1 (ISBN: 0971999619) also sold on amazon. Both books helped me to get excellent grades in my A and P class.

Book Description
THE SECTIONAL ANATOMY LEARNING SYSTEM is thoroughly revised and updated with two new chapters including re-drawn illustrations, and new post-tests with images. The system consists of two volumes: a main text and a workbook of applications. A new chapter has been added on the vertebral column and spinal cord. The concepts section of the text now covers sectional anatomy of the entire body. It is organized to correspond to the text chapters. Applications consist of coloring and labeling exercises for over 250 revised drawings of transverse, sagittal, and coronal cadaver sections.
Customer Reviews:
Heaven Help You! If you are required to buy this for a class!.......2007-01-01
This 2 volume set is horrible! The diagrams in the Applications book are vague and confusioning. The way that the Concepts book is written is just terrible it is jumbled and runs together. It is impossible to besure that you are labeling or even answering most of the questions correctly, let alone all of them. Diagrams in the workbook that are totally different then the ones in the Concepts book and you are suppose to label them? correctly? There has got to be something better out there. I can not wait until I am done with this class, I will see if everyone wants to come over to my book burning party!
OK-At best-.......2005-03-07
I had this 2 vol set for a cross sectional course- The pictures were poor quality, the labels ambiguous, and the author had a tendency to be inconsistent with viewing aspect- one image is a sup/inf view, and the very next one is exactly the opposite- and although recognizing the anatomy from different aspects is important, this book did so in such and random, disorganized manner. The orientation went against all of my training as a radiology and ct tech, since the image orientation was not consistent.(the right should ALWAYS be the right, doncha know?) I do not recommend it to imaging professionals, as there are better books out there, but it might be ok for medical students or the like. Overall, I began to despise this book to the point that I gave it away as soon as class was over, and I found myself using other texts and online resources to study, because the book was just too confusing!!

Despite scientific evidence to the contrary, as far as the health care profession is concerned the standard operating design of the human body is male. So when a book comes along as beautifully written and endlessly informative as Natalie Angier's Woman: An Intimate Geography, it's a cause for major celebration. Written with whimsy and eloquence, her investigation into female physiology draws its inspiration not only from scientific and medical sources but also from mythology, history, art, and literature, layering biological factoids with her own personal encounters and arcane anecdotes from the history of science. Who knew, for example, that the clitoris--with 8,000 nerve fibers--packs double the pleasure of the penis; that the gene controlling cellular sensitivity to male androgens, ironically enough, resides on the X-chromosome; or that stress hormones like cortisol and corticosterone are the true precursors of friendship?
The mysteries of evolution are not a new subject for Angier, a Pulitzer Prize-winning biology writer for the New York Times whose previous books include The Beauty of the Beastly and Natural Obsessions. The strengths of Woman begin with Angier's witty and evocative prose style, but its real contribution is the way it expands the definition of female "geography" beyond womb, breasts, and estrogen, down as far as the bimolecular substructure of DNA and up as high as the transcendent infrastructure of the human brain. --Patrizia DiLucchio
Book Description
With the clarity, insight, and sheer exuberance of language that make her one of The New York Times's premier stylists, Pulitzer Prize-winner Natalie Angier lifts the veil of secrecy from that most enigmatic of evolutionary masterpieces, the female body. Angier takes readers on a mesmerizing tour of female anatomy and physiology that explores everything from organs to orgasm, and delves into topics such as exercise, menopause, and the mysterious properties of breast milk.
A self-proclaimed "scientific fantasia of womanhood."
Woman ultimately challenges widely accepted Darwinian-based gender stereotypes. Angier shows how cultural biases have influenced research in evolutionary psychology (the study of the biological bases of behavior) and consequently lead to dubious conclusions about "female nature." such as the idea that women are innately monogamous while men are natural philanderers.
But Angier doesn't just point fingers; she offers optimistic alternatives and transcends feminist polemics with an enlightened subversiveness that makes for a joyful, fresh vision of womanhood.
Woman is a seminal work that will endure as an essential read for anyone intersted in how biology affects who we are?as women, as men, and as human beings.
Customer Reviews:
Raging feminism.......2007-05-03
Really. There's little significant new information in this book that isn't covered in the 30 something pages of sources. Just pick up any anatomy book and you'd get the same information, minus the feminism BS.
One of my favorites!.......2007-05-02
I just love this book. It gives insight into the possible connections in our lives. Why is painful labor beneficial? Why do we have menopause and other animals do not?... I could go on and on. It provides great insight and a sense of womanly pride. I love science-based books that are not a bore. This is entertaining and I have a new perspective and appreciation for many things that make me a woman!
Very informative and feminist!.......2007-01-19
After looking for books about female biology and wanting something that did not place women in gendered roles according to their supposed biological nature, I came upon this one.
The author makes several invaluble arguments to counter the 'biology is who we are' theory. I'm a young university student and reading this was indespensable, and informative. All authors who write about women need to be feminists. Recommended for young women, particularly as an informed intelligent book about our body as well as armor for what society may be pushing down your throat.
great writing, great info.......2006-09-05
I'd call this a textbook on Women's Anatomy except it's too well-written to call it that. Still, it's packed with information, every chapter focusing on one area of a woman's body, from breasts to uteruses to how ovaries work. Angier also takes up debates like people like breasts so much, what we "know" about gender roles from anthropological biology, to why breast-feeding goes in and out of fashion. Really, this one is more than recommended, it's required reading for anyone who wants to know how women's bodies work.
A must read or re-read for every woman or man who loves women.......2006-07-30
What do you really know about female biology. Author Natlie Angier a Pulitzer Prize winner takes on everything from organs to orgasm. She goes into such topics as menopause, female anger/aggression and evolutionary ideas. She writes about biology for the NY Times and knows her stuff. A great book for a college student or pre-med student or a senior citizen. Start with how one perfect solar cell forms and what is involved in female chrosome. The author covers a whole chapter on the Clitoris and all of its 8000 nerve fibers and moves on to talk about the Uterus and the breast and breast milk. Ovaries get their due and hormones estrogen, testotsterone and women and desire all get their own sectins. Why muscle not fat. And what role does evolutionary psychology play in making women vs men. Bonding and oxytocin --complex female bonding stuff and more.

Customer Reviews:
Good reference for A and P.......2003-09-12
I found this book to be a pretty good review for A and P. I used it as a reference for my A and P college class. I also used the following which was in even more on target with making the information easier to understand:
Key Facts for Anatomy and Physiology (ISBN:0971999694). This book was a great review for anatomy and physiology. I also used the following for test preparation:
Anatomy and Physiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations
Volume 1 (ISBN: 0971999619)
Volume 2 (ISBN: 0971999627)
Since A and P is not the easiest subject, I recommend getting these four books.
Great Study Guide.......2001-07-18
This is the study guide to the textbook by the same name. I found this book to be an excellent tool to help me remember and understand the endless array of information that a student needs to know when taking an A & P course. The guide is broken down by chapters that match to the textbook exactly - it includes matching exercises, labeling exercises, coloring of bodyparts, and numerous review questions. I would recomend this to any student taking an A & P course regardless of which textbook is being used during lecture class
wholly anatomy!.......2000-08-21
this is one of the most comprehensive guides to human anatomy and physiology i have ever read! It is great for reference and even easy enough for children to understand. keep up the good work!
