loved it........2007-10-09
it was a very good book.very easy to read & understand. Also it actually includes pictures to help give you better understanding. I had seen her on tv and thought i should get her book. I was very impressed and had to buy her Gut Solutions book also. I havent finished that one yet.
I'm a believer.......2007-06-27
My wife and I caught her on PBS and were impressed enough to donate to them and get a set of books. We are very happy with them and they have helped us to lose weight and feel better. My wife is a Pharm D and she says they have sound medical advice. When she was going to have her gall bladder removed a couple weeks ago she looked at the "Gut Solutions" book. She wished she had seen it sooner since they had detailed information about the gall bladder and on gall stone symptoms. We have bought just about every other book she has published since. This one is a great start.
Great!.......2007-05-09
Totally what I was looking for! Saw Brenda on PBS and had to get the book. It is everything she talked about. Anyone who wants to improve their health should get this book.

Vitamins and more!.......2007-03-31
This book helps you understand vitamins, dietary supplements, how the digestive system works, weight control, detoxification and more!
Flax for your health.......2007-03-20
A must have book for your health. Don't hesitate to purchase this book. It is filled with valuable information that can help you with your eating habits and understand supplements and vitamins. I would recommend buying two, one for your friend, because once they start reading it, they don't want to give it up.
Brenda Watson knows her stuff!.......2007-01-10
Wow. This book is chock full of great information on how our digestive system works, why it is so essential to our everyday life and what we can do to keep it running smoothly.
I feel so much better after following her suggestions. I have given the book to others to borrow.
Everything you need to know about Digestion.......2007-01-10
This book is the most comprehensive guide to digestive health available today. It covers digestive problems, weight control, detoxification diets, and cleansing programs in great detail, with specific remedies for particular digestive problems. Renew Your Life provides the in-depth solutions that Dr. Brenda Watson outlined in her PBS seminars, including lists of the symptoms each digestive problem commonly creates. Although most people resort to this level of medical education after feeling pain, this resource is a great value for anyone who wants to find out what to eat, what to avoid eating, and how to restore and maintain healthy balance to their digestive tract, and by doing that, restoring good mood, high energy, and robust health.
Colon Health is Body Health.......2006-11-27
Brenda Watson has done the research on colon health and Renew Your Life is one of the basic keys to balanced health. Her step-by-step program along with her H.O.P.E. formula is an important basic beginning to getting your body back to a healthy state, or at least, to a state of balance where you can then concentrate on "fine tuning." I don't agree that you need all of her products, but I do agree that detoxing the colon, liver, kidneys, etc. is an unfortuneate necessity in our society.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent Book, easy to read and very informative.......2007-09-26
My sister, who is an Holistic Counselor, suggested that me and my Fiance read this book to help with his digestive problems that severely impact his life. I'm totally impressed with the information presented in this book; not only does the author discuss remedies to common, yet severe, digestive issues, but she takes the time to describe the digestive system in a way that anyone can understand. The initial description of the digestive system and the way that our bodies convert the items we ingest is, to me, the key to fully understanding the remedies she presents. I believe that the contents in this book are so valuable that I wonder why some of it is not included in high school curricula.
One of the best; and digital made it instant knowledge!.......2007-06-26
With the marvels of technology (Amazon digital books), I was able to read this excellent, informative book over the weekend, apply what I learned, and reap some of the benefits immediately before the weekend was over--even BEFORE the hard-copy arrives tomorrow through my two-day Amazon Prime membership! I wish ALL books were instantly available to us digitally while we wait for the hard copy (I like having both!)
The information in this book is an effective reminder of what I already knew but sometimes forgot the importance of doing; other things were brand new to me. It's a quick and easy read, and the author tells us precisely what the recommendations are, in what amounts, when, and why. A wise, loving, and responsible purchase for anyone with a family member who struggles with digestive disorders.
ANY HEALTH ISSUES ADDRESSED IN THIS BOOK.......2007-02-22
Too many health problems to mention but all are addressed & resolved in this book. Recommended by physical therapist - best medical advice received by her! Never could ever imagine my health problems could come from the foods I eat. Wish I could have been told b4 consumed so many prescription medicines to cover them-up!
The Ultimate Guide for Digestive Health.......2007-01-19
Very comprehensive and easy to read. This book is so good, it was referred to me by a doctor as part of my treatment. I learned how to deal with my GERD. This book is highly recommended for anyone interested in better digestion. Whether you have a specific problem or are interested in better digestion, this is MUST Read.
A Healthy Gut is the Key to Health.......2006-12-20
"Digestive Wellness" is an absolute must for anyone looking to optimize their health, digestive or otherwise! Since 80% of people in the United States suffer from digestive disturbances, this information comes at a needed time. Health starts in the gut and Lipski provides a great handbook that will educate and empower you to take control of your health. She also addresses chronic diseases and provides cutting edge, functional testing recommendations.

Farts demystified.......2007-09-29
Apart from being a fun tutorial for a toddler, this is a great bathroom
read! It demystifies and destigmatizes the very natural fact that: We
pass gas! It offers an engaging explanation of why and how, and how
much gas we pass, and why it smells the way it does. This book will
leave you, your toddler, and your bathroom guests smiling and
smarter about something we just don't talk about much.
Funny.......2007-02-08
This is a great book for kids and adults too. It is funny and really makes it easy to talk about body functions. I gave this to my sister at her baby shower. It was a hit!
The story of my gas.......2006-11-09
This cleverly written book caused me to think for days about such things as farts and burps....I asked my son on the subject and he just attacked me and ran away...anywho i thought that the author picked a good topic to write about and it really helped me learn what the noise was that comes out of my behind actually is
Worst Book Ever Printed.......2006-11-09
I just got this book for my 4 year old daughter yesterday. The illustrations look as though a child has done them (the cover does not accurately represent the rest of the drawings inside). The story itself does not feel informative or coherant. The one part of the book that disturbed me so bad was an adult man and a little boy in what looks like a tub and the illustrator actually put a small penis on the little boy-it is talking about how farts make bubbles in this scene. The idea of this book had the potential of being funny and informative, as it is written now with it's crude drawings and less than fantastic story line, I do not recommend this book to anyone and it is the only book (children/adult or otherwise) that I have read that should be completely destroyed so no one else has to be subjected to its idiocies.
I Really Like The Theory Represented In This Book, BUT.................2006-03-28
No pun intended, BUT I have a problem with the word fart.
As I teacher, we were told that was a word not to be used. I said Bort............. The book explains this subject well and when I found it at the bookstore today, everyone around me had a laugh. However, we all agreed that we'd have trouble reading it to our children and as I teacher, I would. I bought it for a gag gift for my older son.
I thought it was cleverly written about a bodily function that happens to the best of us. As a matter of fact, it happened to me in the store today!!!! LOL

Customer Reviews:
Excellent resource, but questions remain.......2007-07-12
I thought the angels had answered my prayers when I saw this book at my local pharmacy. It is packed absolutely chock full with great, easy to understand information about digestion, the mind-gut connection, and various digestive diseases. I know "natural medicine" seems crunchy granola and therefore easy to dismiss, but logic (and many well-designed studies) make many of the recommendations in this book hard to refute, and definitely worth trying. As someone who has been to dozens of traditional doctors and has still not found relief for my gut, being given more information and options for treating these distressing problems is a godsend and not to be sneezed at. However, after reading it cover-to-cover, I still have questions.
My main issue: I have symptoms of several of the problems talked about in the book, and unfortunately the treatments for these problems are often contradictory. I really should eat more yogurt and other cultured products for the beneficial flora--unless I have candidiasis or a food allergy. I should eat whole grains for the fiber--unless I'm allergic or have candidiasis. I should drink water right before I go to bed--unless I have reflux. The list goes on and on. I have NO IDEA which of my stomach problems I should tackle first and which things I can try for one problem that won't significantly worsen another problem. I find I'm so confused that I really want to visit the clinic that Ms. Berkson talks about working at, but she gives no contact info in the book and I was unable to find anything online. Barring that, I would have really appreciated some information for how to FIND a clinic like that one, or a doctor who will work with me to find holistic and natural remedies.
Having said that, I still think this book is an excellent resource that is well-written, well-organized, and well worth reading.
Excellent health information.......2007-06-27
One of the most helpful, informative books I have read. The suggestions really work. Highly recommend as an aid in healing.
Another great book with instant, digital availability!.......2007-06-26
I appreciated all the other reviews on this book before buying; and I find, too, that it FULLY deserves the five stars from the other readers! I also like that it's instantly available in digital format while we wait for the hard copy to arrive--what a great deal from Amazon and publisher, and with digestive problems, the sooner we get them remedied, the sooner our family member feels better and can get on with life!
Excellent book if you have IBS or GERD or other Digestive Problems ..........2006-12-27
This book is very thorough. It covers in depth the right foods, the wrong foods, what certain foods, supplements, and drugs do to digestive tract. It covers some history of digestive diseases, food alergies, home treatment, etc. The author makes no promises that this information will solve your particular digestive problem, however, she present the information honestly.
I recommend this book highly!
Covers all symptoms.......2006-12-10
The author seems very knowledgeble on all aspects of digestive problems. Learned a lot. Throws so much at you that it is hard to assimilate it all. Worth reading.

Customer Reviews:
Good book, but MISLEADING!.......2006-12-14
I absolutely love Sproutman (the author); I have most of his books already. This book is easy to read, fun, amusing, full of helpful tips... BUT it doesn't explain food combining well enough! As my first book on the subject, I THOUGHT it was enough information, but I continued having digestive problems. Later I read Natalia Rose's Raw Food Detox Diet - it not only explained food combining much clearer, it actually conflicted with some of the advice in this book. For example, a piece of fruit for dessert an hour or so after dinner - which is exactly what I was doing, with poor results - is a TERRIBLE food choice, I now know. Now that I understand more about food combining, I wouldn't call this book a food combining book. But I'd say it's still worth having; it still has good information about improving digestion (in other ways besides food combining) and how to think differently about food. It's worthwhile to have in your collection, but find other books about food combining rather than relying on this one.
UPDATE: 4 Stars, not 3
Recently I looked up something I remembered reading in this book (it had been sitting on my shelf for a long time) - and found myself surprised. I was too hard on this book in my original review. Maybe because it was my first book on Food Combining and I didn't understand the subject, I felt the book was missing something. When I looked through it the other day, I realize there really is some good information about food combining, like a breakdown into subcategories (for example, fruits have 4 subcategories: acid, sub-acid, sweet, and melon). I still have issue with the recommendation of having fruit for desert after a meal - DON'T DO IT. I have personally found it's made a big difference in how I feel! But there is plenty of useful information in this book, and along with the tips about how your mood can affect your meal, I say this book deserves 4 STARS!
A silly book.......2006-11-04
This book is downright silly! Find something better on the matter. Trust me, there is plenty out there.
food freedom.......2006-04-03
This book is the "KEY" to learning the "whys" of body malfunction and obesity. Simply written for the nutritional novice.
No wonder we're dying like flies!.......2005-05-26
I bought this book out of desperation. Although I have learned some things over the years about digestion, I was still having problems. It set the record straight as far as how I should be eating. No wonder so many Americans are dying like flies of colon cancer, stomach cancer and like diseases. How sad! I am going to start today to incorporate the methods in this book!
Easy to follow, much knowledge to be gained.......2003-12-13
When I picked this book up, I was looking for some information on how to combine different foods together.
Good or bad, I didn't get that. What I got instead, was a book explaining the "art" of eating. What the different food types are, how to eat them, why to chew, what causes immune system problems, parasites etc. Stuff your parents should have taught you, but didn't. (or maybe they did, but you ignored their wisdom).
I think everybody over 200 pounds needs to read this book. I really enjoyed it!
My only shot at the book, is that is contains 2 paragraphs of info on Food Combining. A better title should have been "How to feed your stomuch"
Book Description

Customer Reviews:
OK for GI Physiology.......2007-10-13
I don't highly recommend this book unless you are ready for a low technical book. It is easy to read and has only about 150 pgs. Good for review, maybe not in depth enough for board type questions.
Concise, good diagrams, good practice questions.......1999-06-03
I used this text for my Med I GI physiology and was surprised at how concise and well written it turned out to be. My instructor had assigned certain chapters, sections, figures but I it cover to cover in one sitting. Not only were the chapters well written an organized but the comprehensive examination at the end of the book was quite well done. Highly recommended!

Fabulous!.......2002-04-24
This is the best book I have ever read on digestive disorders. It covers every situation imaginable. I consider this a "must read" for anyone with inflammatory bowel disease or bowel disorders associated with autism. It also covers Irritable Bowel, parasites, and other difficult to treat situations. This is a well-written, intelligent, insightful book. I highly recommend it as my new favorite.
For all digestive health concerns - this is it!.......2001-12-07
This has to be one of the most extensive and enlightening books on digestive health available. It covers all things digestive and is authored by a wide variety of healthcare professionals who represent a healthy balance of traditional and alternative thinking. It is the most informative (and enjoyable) book on digestive health I've purchased - and I've got quite a few.
It even provides contact information for most of the authors, should you decide to make personal contact or seek treatment. Definitely a worthwhile purchase!
digestive problems written by doctors for regular people.......2001-07-11
Of all of the book I have read to try to understand food sensitivities (which is about 15 by now) this one is the best. I have more faith in this one because it is written by doctors. But I could understand most of it. It also lists several doctors who deal with these issues. That was worth the 12 bucks.
optimal digestion.......2000-08-25
I am a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine and picked this book up at a local bookstore on a whim, wondering if there was anything that I could learn from it. To my surprise I read without stopping for about three hours after opening the book. What a delight to find a book so full of great information for the lay person and for a professional at the same time! This book is well laid out with clear diagrams and good advice. Well worth buying.

report.......2007-10-10
This book was bought for my daughter who is in a LPN course her teacher suggested this book for a report. She was very happy with the book and information it gave.
What Happens to Hamburger.......2007-01-04
This book was hunted down for sentimental reasons but now my twin boys LOVE it!!! Great book with terrific educational value too - two things in one - gotta love that!!
Easy to Understand.......2006-11-05
I got this book to help my 4 year old son understand why we poop. We're having some battles over potty training, and I wanted him to know the whole process, in hopes that he would have less anxiety about pooping on the potty. He understands digestion now, and we talk about it frequently, but alas, no pooping on the potty!
Digestion from Start to Finish.......2006-05-25
This book is about a diner cook who loves to eat healthy food and we find out what happens to that food in this well written and illustrated book by Paul Showers and Edward Miller. There are little experiments and up close photos of digestive organs which can delightfully gross out your child while one reads and learns about this important system of the body.
My 4 year old daughter wants to be a doctor when she grows up so I am always on the look out for books about the body. I love all of the "Let's-Read-And-Find-Out Science" books and they have several very good books available regarding how the body works.
A wonderful book!.......2003-11-30
My 5-year-old son thinks it is good because it teaches how the food gets digested. My 8-year-old daughter thinks she learned a lot from the book. I personally enjoy reading it too!
