5 out of 5 stars Excellent Guide to Trusting and developing Intuition........2004-08-07

I own this book. I read and liked it. It reasons very well on why Intuition is a natural phenomena, we humans are endowed with. Gives a scientific explanation to the purpose of intuition, with real life examples. Of tremendous value is the assertion, that intuition is a guiding force to help acheive our strongly intended life goals.

Intuition is in natures order, to act as guide to facilitate goal achievement, provide communication to help those in need. A good source to learn to harness a natural resource.

5 out of 5 stars Looking....looking.....found.......2002-05-14

I have been looking for a book on Intuition. Most of the books did not have much background or ways of developing your own Intuition. This book not only explains in great detail of why we as a race have Intuition, many examples of situations that had happened to the author and her friends, but also techniques on to develop your Intuition. "Cracking The Intuition Code", is what its says. You find out what it is, why we have it, and how to crack it and use it.

5 out of 5 stars terrific.......2000-07-10

Buy it. You won't regret the $ spent, you won't read it and be disappointed. Ferguson knows her territory. Trish MacGregor

2 out of 5 stars Insightful.......2000-04-06

This is a unique book about intuition because it circumvents the spiritual aspects usually associated with intuition. Instead, it proposes that this is a biologically-based sensory system that is normal for the human species. Lots of thought-provoking insights into the human mind and the pros and cons of over-rationalizing our environment. The first part could have been cut in half, but the shorter, second part is priceless. I suggest for those who prefer associating intuition with spiritual aspects of one's life, to read Carol Ann Liaros's Intuition Technologies, which has additional exercises for developing one's intuitive abilities.

5 out of 5 stars Fascinating Insights That Can Change Your Life.......2000-03-30

Gail Ferguson provides fascinating insight into many of the unexplained feelings and "signals" that all of us experience every single day, and the impact these curious events have on our lives. Unfortunately, many of us - especially those of us who are men - tend to ignore these occurances far too often. Gail Ferguson has helped me understand that intuition is not just a "woman thing" but a meaningful force in all our lives, regardless of our gender.

She paints a clear picture of intuition as a real-world process with practical applications that can significantly alter the outcomes we experience in our lives, and illustrates the salient points with gripping, often amazing true stories and examples.

Since reading "Cracking the Intuition Code" I have been more consciously aware of and cognitively attuned to the intuitive signals that come my way. Thanks to this remarkable book, I have learned to act on those signals and follow though much more often than I had previously. When I do, I find more success and peace of mind. Unfortunately, sometimes I still ignore those intuitive signals. I am still learning that when I do things usually don't turn out as well as I would have liked.

What's more, as a professional sales trainer and performance development consultant I am incorporating many of the ideas from the book into my work. As a result, I am finding that the most successful salespeople, virtually without exception, rely on their intuition to a significant degree. I am also finding that almost all salespeople can develop more customers and close more sales by honing and practicing the skills and techniques that Gail Ferguson describes and explains in this intruiging book.

Highly recommended for everyone who wants to take their personal performance to the next level!

Book Description

A guide to breaking through creative blocks to discover the emotional and spiritual rewards of spontaneous art.

In Life, Paint and Passion, creativity expert Michele Cassou showed readers how to discover the magic of intuitive expression. For many of us it is difficult just to let go and create something. Cassou shows us that once we engage in the artistic process it is quite possible to gain access to a powerful spiritual reserve within us. In Point Zero, Cassou takes the process further by providing an original method of inquiry that can be utilized in the face of doubt, conflict, and lack of inspiration. Through stories of her work with dozens of students, she shows the reader how to overcome creative difficulties of all kinds.

In the creative quest, Cassou teaches us, we must slay three dragons: The Dragon of Product fights the artist's spontaneity; the Dragon of Control bars the door to the unknown and the truly mysterious; and the Dragon of Meaning fights intuition and creativity by demanding interpretation and resolution with every move. Cassou arms us with a clear method for creating specific questions relevant to the situation of the moment, questions which are designed to dissolve barriers to creativity. She shows us how we can come face-to-face with the energy that creates our blocks, and then to use this encounter to return to Point Zero, the ground from which pure creation springs. In this place of infinite possibility, art becomes not a means to an end but a place which we may inhabit and in which we can explore our true selves and the mysteries of our lives.

5 out of 5 stars El regreso al origen.......2003-12-30

5 out of 5 stars Point Zero:Creativity without Limits.......2001-05-09

Point Zero is a wonderfully clear and insightful explanation of the creative process and how to tap into it. Creative blocks are defined and undone with a simple questioning process which applieas to the joy of painting and living. Cassou's stories from her own experiences of paintting for process for hours on end and her spiritual unfoldment from that process are inspiring. Highly recommended for artist and non-artist alke, those who are seeking an opening in their creative process.

5 out of 5 stars Point Zero changed my life.......2001-04-03

I love this book!!! It seemed exactly what was needed to help me open up myself and create. I've always wanted to paint or simply put color on paper but something always stopped me. This book carefully outlined and explained the demons that were in my way, and after some practice, I could find myself safely stepping into the unknown and expressing myself. "Point Zero" also made me feel safer to understand myself and face some challenging issues inside. Mostly, this book - with its interesting writing and short chapters that held my attention - gave me permission to go to places I have not before. I am very grateful to Michelle Cassou for sharing her teaching and experience with me.

5 out of 5 stars Creativity Without Limits.......2001-04-02

Impassioned by her own life-long painting journey, Michele Cassou invites us to use our creativity to connect with our deepest selves. In her most recent book, Point Zero: Creativity Without Limits, she implores, inspires, provokes, and cajoles us to look directly at our creative blocks and to use the blocks themselves as catalysts to break their hold on us. As always, Cassou turns away from "end product", focusing instead on the mysterious act of creating itself. "In creativity, only the process matters - not as a trophy to add to your mantelpiece, but as an exercise of strength and clarity, as an opening to insights and revelations." The charming drawings, diverse quotations, and glorious color pages of paintings add dimension to her written voice. Ultimately, it is Cassou's enthusiasm and passion that delight me again and again. Dynamic reading for anyone who feels the call to create! (Workshops with Michele offer a direct, fascinating experience of her written words -- contact pointzeropainting.com.)

5 out of 5 stars Pure Genius.......2000-04-13

This volume, like each of Toogood's other books (Articulate Executive and Inspired Executive), is a must-read for the entrepreneur, self-employed, corporate and even the "down-sized" professional. He is a master at weaving anecdotes with common sense to create, once again, "personalized messaging". Get a new highlighter, this one is chock-full of sage counsel!

5 out of 5 stars The Smart Executive Should Read The Creative Executive.......2000-03-02

This book is a straight-talking primer for those of us who have great engineering and technical design skills but need help in our leadership and persuasive skills. We may have a vision, but too often we don't know how to articulate it. This book teaches us how in a breezy style that makes you feel as though Toogood is talking to you over a cup of coffee.

5 out of 5 stars Creative Storytelling At Its Best.......2000-03-01

This is a fun book, filled with stories well told. Unlike many, overly analytical books on creativity, The Creative Executive walks its own talk. The stories and insights kind of wash over you leaving you with not so much a process on how to be creative (although there are some "process" suggestions in the book) as an intuitive feel about your own creative potential. Very nice.

5 out of 5 stars Third time's a charm!.......2000-03-01

Toogood captures the readers attention from the first sentence. In today's business world one in surrounded by dot.com innovators and this book inspires introspection for our own creative potential.

5 out of 5 stars A boatload of new reasons to get up in the morning.......2000-03-01

As our working lives increasingly encroach on our home lives, we've come to expect more from our jobs than a paycheck. Like Tom Peters, Granville Toogood inspires us to slough off the cynicism of Dilbert and embrace real creativity in the workplace.

Chapter 7, "The Four Fundamentals of Professional Fulfillment," could serve as the manifesto of a business revolution; it's alone worth the price of the book. But the book offers much more than a call to action -- it also gives practical examples from the lives of some of today's (and yesterday's) most innovative leaders: Steve Jobs, Andy Grove, Charlotte Beers, Martha Stewart, Walt Disney.

As Mr. Toogood exhorts us: "Forget the status quo. Way up and way out. Find some other way to go." This book may not take you there, but it'll get you pointed in the right direction.

Although opinion polls indicate that most Americans believe in the power of intuition, dreams, and precognition to offer valid guidance and information, "we have not yet developed an educational context for developing these abilities," according to author and editor Helen Palmer. By assembling this stunning collection of essays from leading authorities on perception, creativity, and intuition, Palmer hoped to offer a classic resource for anyone who wants to commit to developing his or her mental and spiritual powers. Contributors include Bruno Bettelheim, who speaks about fairytales and their ability to enhance the link between imagination and inner knowing; Carl Jung, who writes of the I Ching's ability to chart ancient avenues of wisdom; and an interview with Isabel Allende, in which she recounts the prophetic powers of storytelling. --Gail Hudson

Book Description

Inner Knowing illustrates that the human mind possesses the capability to consistently function at significantly high levels of perception, creativeness, and intuitiveness. Indeed, everyone has at one time in his life experienced a sense of mindful clarity that led to a Eureka! moment. In this latest addition to Tarcher's successful New Consciousness Reader series, Helen Palmer, author of The Enneagram, has compiled a collection of writings that explore such abilities and illustrate how they can be developed. Essays on exercising the mind, understanding synchronicity, experiencing "flow," establishing communication between the conscious and subconscious, utilizing the active imagination, listening to the body's feedback, and witnessing psychic displays of walking on fire, clairvoyance, and similar phenomena make up this enlightening, thought-provoking, and fascinating anthology. Contributors include: Bruno Bettelheim, Jean Shinoda Bolen, Sylvia Boorstein, Pema Chodron, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Betty Edwards, Erich Fromm, Daniel Goleman, Aldous Huxley, Carl Jung, Jack Kornfield, J. Krishnamurti, Philip Novak, Charles Tart, Montague Ullman, Frances Vaughan, Mark Waldman, and Roger Walsh. A sophisticated book representing the essence of the NCR series, Inner Knowing offers readers confidence in themselves as they reawaken subtle senses while learning to trust and utilize new ways of perceiving, knowing, and living.

This is by far one of my favorite books. Its condition certainly shows it!

Under the "stewardship" of Helen Palmer, this book covers a wide variety of readings on the topic of Higher Consciousness... .digging into not only what our life is about also how to be your own life anthropologist, so to speak.

It includes readings by some preeminent names in the study of Spirituality, Psychology, Anthropology and other related fields all collected and categorized so that you can simply go to the table of contents and choose what suits you for that particular day.

Included are Jack Kornfield, Sylvia Boornsteain, Mihaly Csikzentmihalyi and Abraham Maslow just to give you a taste.... And hopefully a hunger for more.

With the selections from this book, you simply can't go wrong.

    Book Description

Perhaps there is no more significant time in a woman's life than when she experiences menopause. Joan Borysenko, Ph.D. - author of the classic New York Times Bestseller Minding the Body, Mending the Mind - refers to this compelling time in the feminine life cycle as "The Guardian" stage, when women become passionate protectors of their highest values. What are the essential steps we need to take at this crucial point in our lives?

On Menopause: Initiation into Power, Joan Borysenko brings together her unique training as a medical scientist, clinical psychologist, and teacher at Harvard Medical School to examine the "mid-life metamorphosis" from our 40s to our 60s. It is at this stage when a woman's focus extends beyond family and friends into an expansive view of her place in the whole of life. It is a time when her authentic self boldly emerges. With Menopause: Initiation into Power, listeners will join Borysenko to explore: · Energy and emptying: the empowering process of letting go of friends, jobs, and even marriages that no longer serve us · Reframing hot flashes as psychospiritual opportunities · Less estrogen + more testosterone = heightened intuition and drive, and much more

More than 35 million women are estimated to be in or approaching their years as Guardians, making them a significant force to be reckoned with. Now Joan Borysenko leads listeners into this influential time of life with Menopause: Initiation into Power.

        Book Description

"Fiction, Intuition, and Creativity" is a search for the origins of fiction and for an understanding of how these origins influence the finished work of art. It examines the connection between the creative process and fictional form by discussing how intuitive consciousness provides the environment in which creativity flourishes and how writers make use of intuitive creativity in their novels.

Looking first at how the link between intuition and creativity has been explored in philosophy, psychology, and aesthetics by thinkers such as Henri Bergson, William James, Carl Jung, and Benedetto Croce, the book proceeds to an extended discussion of what novelists reveal about the workings of their creative processes, focusing on the intuitive dimension of aesthetic activity. This includes the role of the unconscious and of emotion, the need for an incubation period before the novel emerges into consciousness, and the sense that characters inhabit an autonomous realm and frequently operate beyond the control of their authors.

The works of four novelists are discussed in depth. In the fiction of Charlotte Brontë, intuition functions as content; the intuitive consciousness of Jane Eyre and Lucy Snowe empowers them to know and to act in a world that would impede their ability to do both. Henry James's life-long fascination with his creative process and his understanding of its intuitive underpinnings lead to the development of his later style and his focus on consciousness. Virginia Woolf's career is analyzed as a steady progression toward her reshaping of the novel into an intuitive vehicle. In the fiction of Doris Lessing, intuition again appears as content as Lessing makes intuitive consciousness the basis of her psychic politics.

This unique work offers much for those interested in the structure and development of fiction, the subject of creativity and intuitive consciousness, or in the four authors analyzed at length in the text.

Finally...an anthem for beauty and meaning in the arts!

I sent a copy of this book, in an early manuscript edition, to Sir Kenneth Clark, the late doyen of British art historians. Lord Clark thanked me, remarking that he'd "found myself much in agreement with it."

And, no wonder; where Clark ferreted meaning from the clutter of Western art in his celebrated television series, "Civilisation," Walters's subject is even wider: the arts as a force for personal change. And he's found a marvelously clarifying key in the concept of Self-realization.

Pick up a puppet by the head, and everything becomes order; lift it by an arm and it's a jumble. Similarly, Walters shows that if we grasp the arts from the focusing perspective of human fulfillment, we'll have free sailing. At least, if we understand where human fulfillment actually lies. And Walters is sublimely qualified to talk about human potentials. In an alternate persona, he's known Swami Kriyananda--one of the most prolific and lucid interpreters of oriental philosophy and spirituality for the West.

When I was at Stanford in the '60s, I wish I'd had "Art as a Hidden Message," because it would have saved me a great deal of time. This book is quite amazing for the way it finds the essences in philosophy, the arts, and spiritual practice; and Walters makes it all immensely enjoyable. With such a vast subject before him, you'd think he'd run out of breath, but he never does. This is Michael Jordan of the mind.

"Art as a Hidden Message" is a great Groovy Book. I suspect Walters will eventually be honored as brilliant synthesizing minds. That's okay, but don't wait--this is a stunningly universal, immensely satisfying book.

5 out of 5 stars Thank you Mr. Walters.......1999-11-09

What an inspiration for creative people everywhere, and certainly a guide, not only to self-realization, but also a practical foundation for anyone searching for what art, or indeed, any expression of life, means.

5 out of 5 stars Walters liberates the arts from meaninglessness.......1999-08-30

Nearly 20 years ago, I sent an early edition of this book (titled "Meaning in the Arts") to the late Lord Kenneth Clark, doyen of British art historians. The renowned author of the "Civilisation" book and TV series courteously responded, saying that he found himself "much in agreement" with Walters's views.

Despite its somewhat "new-agey" title (the book is, after all, addressed primarily to working artists, and not to academe), it's the most inspiring and profoundly insightful book I've ever read about the arts. Definitely, it has the power to help return the arts, and society, to a sense of meaning. After Lord Clark's "Civilisation" was published, numerous readers wrote to thank him for restoring their sense of meaning, to the extent that he'd dissuaded them from committing suicide. "Art as a Hidden Message" has that kind of power. I'm confident that Lord Clark, were he alive today, would find himself still in agreement with the views expressed in this much-expanded editions.

          Book Description

This book is different from most intuition books on the market. Instead of establishing conditions to allow intuitive messages to spontaneously pop into your head, this book teaches you how to invoke your intuition when you need it to identify the best choice or direction to take. This direction can be anything from a career decision to which position on the roulette wheel to move your bet.

Your intuition is invoked by imagining that the decision has already been made and the result is wonderfully successful. This feeling of success then becomes the tool to use while going through the decision making process.

Feelings are the easiest bridge to near future events. If you have ever experienced dread for no reason and then, later in that day, something happened that you could clearly connect to that dread, then you already know how intuition can affect your feelings. Similarly, your intuition will affect your feelings as you change your intentions. This book teaches decision making processes that allow you to notice the effects of your intuition on that feeling of success that you created. It also helps you increase your sensitivity to those effects. As Einstein once said, "People like us, who believe in physics, know that the distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion."

5 out of 5 stars Intuitive And Penetrating Author.......2004-03-07

How refreshing!!..to read a book that is not dry theory but hands on experiences....!
The author Paul Winter packs each page with interesting solutions, ideas(for instance take the flower out of the vase to politely signal 'problem' to your lover), results(Paul has saved 40 people from drowning), experiences(Paul is an aeronautical engineer-who always got it done better), and challenges.
Yet it is the gentle persuasion of this penetrating thinker that helps the reader to blunt the scariness of actually trusting ones higher self to make decisions....

I have found Paul Winter's book to be very enlightening and helpful in using my intuition to focus on important things/events in my life. Having used his tools for years, I do things as simple as measuring exactly the right amount of water to put in my coffee machine and as complex as interpersonal relations.

I have used these tools to know when to keep my mouth shut in a situation and when to speak up and express my feelings.

I have found these skills extremely valuable in my everyday life both at home with family and particularly at work where there are often situations where you want to be sucessful and respected for your ability to do your job.

I highly recommend reading this book and and sharing the knowledge and skills with your friends. I have even recommended it to my 15 year old granddaughter.

Magical things started happening immediately after starting to read this book.

First of all, the concept of using ideas as tools was new to me....and this idea helped me design my own tools....

I have learned how to create a tool that brings a calm state immediately...

This has helped to bring a certain sensitivity that has somehow triggered off a certain awakening process....especially in working with dreams and having "waking dreams".

The book is easy to read and I highly reccomend it.
