Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

3 out of 5 stars Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

5 out of 5 stars Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

5 out of 5 stars Very Interesting.......2007-03-07

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

5 out of 5 stars Comprehensive canine anatomy textbook for the veterinary student.......2007-03-09

This book is a comprehensive guide to canine anatomy for the veterinary student. It contains excellent illustrations and written descriptions of the location and anatomical significance of the bones, muscles, nerves and vessels. Although very detailed, the layout is logical and easy to use, with a nice balance of illustrations, radiographs and written descriptions. It also describes the embryological derivation for different tissues and overall, perfectly complements anatomy lectures and practicals. It has been very helpful for the locomotor apparatus and cranial anatomy. The detail contained within this book make it ideal for any student planning a career in small animal practice.

3 out of 5 stars Excellent reference.......2007-01-10

This book is very comprehensive and a great refrence book especially when used with Miller's guide to the dissection of the dog. It really helps fill out questions and has color diagrams to aid in understanding.

3 out of 5 stars Helpful but wordy.......2006-11-11

The pictures are great, however they can lull you into a false sense of security come prac exams. Its incredibly wordy, and until you get used to this after a year or so of study it can be a bit overwhelming.

5 out of 5 stars A Colouring Atlas of Dog Anatomy.......2007-09-22

I am extremely happy with the purchase of this particular book. As a student of Animal Bowen Therapy, I require information that is explanatory and easy to understand. This book is all of that and more. The pictures are simple and it is very easy to see the different aspects of the anatomy of a dog.
I received the book in wonderful timing and as always, found the transaction to be easy and non fuss. I will continue to shop for my books this way as it is 9 times out of 10 the cheapest and best way to do it.

5 out of 5 stars Dog Anatomy: A Coloring Atlas.......2007-07-16

This is an excellent resource for anyone who is studying dog anatomy for any reason. Illustrations are detailed and clearly labelled. I am using this as a reference for a Canine Myotherapy certification course.

2 out of 5 stars Not detailed enough for Vet Students.......2006-11-11

I am a first year veterinary student, and I bought this book thinking it would be a good tool for reviewing my anatomy. Definitely not the case!!! The book is not detailed enough to satisfy the veterinary student (at least not at Tufts!). This is especially true for the nerves and bones. I would recommed getting the Evans and deLahunta "Guide to the Dissection of the Dog" instead, and coloring in their black and white illustrations.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Great diagrams but poorly presented.......2004-04-20

As mentioned in other reviews, the diagrams are great, but overall I feel that the book is not well presented. A better way to present the book would be to have more pages, with less diagrams on each page, and the labelling being on each diagram.

Found it distracting to look at the diagrams -- find the number on the diagram, and then to try to find the correct number on the other page -- that tells you the name of the various physical systems.

I would have been willing to pay more, if the book would have been presented better.

5 out of 5 stars A "must have".......2004-02-01

This is the best canine anatomy book for veterinary students. As a veterinary student myself, I find this book of great help. Each system of the dog is covered with a written forward into the topic in question. This is very well written and only a very basic knowledge of veterinary medicine is needed as the book is not aimed at only vets.
The diagrams of the dog are labelled with numbers which correspond to the opposite page and so this is a great book for testing yourself before exams!
If you have a general interest in what is under the skin of your dog or what that bone is bulging out from his elbow-this book is just as interesting/informative as it is to any vet student.
A must have.

4 out of 5 stars Very Interesting Book.......2002-05-29

I thought I'd be tempted to take a color pencil and color the correct drawn anatomy parts, as I did in my nursing anatomy books. I am a nurse, and this book was a real eye opener. The only thing missing were the colors, for the smaller, more detailed illustrations that are necessary. The book is extremely detailed, and very very complete. There's alot of text, and some of it, I found boring. But, the illustrations make up for it. This would be an excellent book for a vet. student, or anyone, like myself, to learn more about dogs. I was exspecially interested in the fact that it was only about dogs, not cats, or other animals. This book is a good book for anyone's shelf.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful drawings.......2001-03-02

Having read the review that 'accuses' British textbooks of being dry and like PBS productions of 50 years ago, I feel that I must stand up for this book. The drawings are exquisite, they are by far the most accurate in any anatomy text book, and they have a simplicity that adds to their impact. The text is a little minimalist, for it is really in the form of expanded labelling for the illustrations.

I have to say that I find the 'chatty' style of many US non-fiction and textbooks flippant and distracting from the subject. I much prefer an author who takes his subject seriously.

All my anatomical studies are based on this book. And look at the price - a real bargain. All those who are studying dog anatomy, be they veterinary students or show judges, are mistaken if this volume does not sit on their bookshelf.

3 out of 5 stars Dog Anatomy by Peter C. Goody.......2000-10-30

The core of "Dog Anatomy" are the 38 pages of detailed black and white drawings of the various physical systems (skeletal, blood, etc.) of the dog. The labeled illustrations are accompanied by copious notes of explanation. Medical terminology is explained in "plain language" as it occurs. Although this book is probably a "must" for a veterinary student the intended reader is the dog owner who is not a veterinary professional, such as myself. An effort is made to provide an understanding of what is inside a dog at a particular point by referencing interior dog anatomy by what can be seen and felt on the outside surface(s) of a dog. This approach achieves some success but the reader should resist the urge to assume more expertise than the book imparts. It can aid the dog owner in understanding what a veterinarian with years of experience is trying to describe but is no substitute for professional education and experience.

The only "down side" to this book is almost at the subliminal level. It was written and published in England. The English and American minds see and approach the world in slightly different ways. Simply put, the method of presentation is somewhat dry and seems more like American publications of 50 years ago than of the present. If you watch and like English programming on PBS you probably won't even notice. The cost of is cheap for an anatomy book.

Book Description

Cardiology is a rapidly growing specialty in veterinary medicine. SMALL ANIMAL CARDIOVASCULAR MEDICINE provides a comprehensive, illustrated explanation of anatomy, physiology, assessment, diagnosis and management of small animal cardiovascular health. An overview of pathophysiology and pharmacotherapy aids practitioners in identifying clinical abnormalities, determining the significance of the problem, determining treatment, and understanding the unresponsive patient. This book is an excellent resource for small animal veterinarians who need to know about the latest techniques in treating congenital and acquired cardiovascular problems.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Small Animal CArdiovascular Medicine.......2007-01-10

Excellent book, friendly and deep and concise on every topic dealt with.

5 out of 5 stars Just Excelent.......2004-12-15

This is an excelent textbook of canine and feline cardiology of highest interest for any veterinary clinician (specialist and not) and any student who wants to learn before going to the real world of disease. It is in my opinion the cardiology textbook that is closest to the clinician and to the reality of the needs and manegement of the cardiovascular patient, with the most rigourous scientific literature.

5 out of 5 stars From the masters..........2003-02-17

While taking my cardiology class during my second year of vet school, this book came in very handy. Although my syllabus (which was at least the size of this book) provided the same information, Small Animal Cardiovascular Medicine provided clearer explanations and illustrations that I could read over and over again.

It filled in many of the gaps I had in my understanding of topics, and, after taking a VIN class with Dr. Kittleson, I can honestly say that this is one of the most concise references you can have. He is a very receptive teacher, and it is really reflected in this text. Highly recommended as THE reference for cardiology!

4 out of 5 stars Small Animal Cardiovascular Medicine.......1999-12-14

The book was a welcome addition to veterinary cardiology, filling a gap of over 12 years since the previous major publication. The book is very logically organized, and the pathophysiology is well addressed, and easy to understand at all levels from student to specialist.

The only detractor is the quality of the publication (the publishers skimped on the book, to the disappointment of the authors) - the paper is cheap and the binding has come apart on 2 copies (I had it replaced and re-bound).

5 out of 5 stars great cardiology book.......1999-12-08

This is one excellent textbook. Concepts are well developed in the beginning chapters of the book. As the book progresses, and specific disease processes are addressed, conceptual application of previous topics is well integrated with additional information regarding everything from physical examination findings to treatment modalities. The end result is an excellent textbook of small animal cardiovascular medicine.

Book Description

This practical guide facilitates a thorough dissection of the dog to learn basic mammalian structure and specific canine features. Emphasizing anatomical knowledge, each chapter presents self-contained guidance on the dissection of a specific body part, allowing the reader to perform these dissections in any sequence preferred. Descriptions are based on the dissection of embalmed, arterially injected adult dogs of mixed breeds, and the anatomical terms used in the book come from the Nomina Anatmica Veterinaria.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Helpful for a starting guide.......2007-09-15

Really great start to dog dissection but if you want a more in-depth analysis that is also less travel friendly, go for the larger version of this book.

5 out of 5 stars I live with this book...........2007-09-10

As a first year veterinary student, this book has become a lifeline at school. Whether it's looking up some unknown body part in Radiology lab, or needing a drawing to further comprehend the lecture, this book delivers. A great feature is it's small size - you can carry it in your bag. I keep a few larger anatomy books at home, but this is such a help. It doesn't have the depth and detail you'll need for everything, but gives a nice, quick summary.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent for veterinary students........2006-01-27

I am a current veterinary student and this book is a necessary reference for small animal anatomy courses. It is very informative and covers all of the anatomy of the dog. Most diagrams are from the more expensive Millers Anatomy of the Dog.

3 out of 5 stars From a vet student.......2005-07-20

Pros: It is easy to read, not incredibly boring, when it provides good information, it does so in an easy to understand way.

Cons: Contradictory information, the steps are not well organized, sometimes you cut through muscle you later find out you should have saved.

4 out of 5 stars Nice companion for Miller's Anatomy of the Dog.......2004-03-04

Overall, I found this to be an excellent book for small animal (technically dog only) gross anatomy. I say small animal, but I find myself referring to this text even when studying large animal anatomy. Reason--I like how the text very clearly indicates proximal and distal muscle attachments for all major muscles and specific nervous and arterial supply to all major muscles.

The pictures and diagrams are decent, but all in black and white. I found it helpful to color in structures in the book as I dissected that specific part of the animal.

I didn't find the text as boring as other reviewers have. True, the subject matter is tedious, but this book gets right to the point. Paradoxally, that is also while I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5. A lot of the detail is missing. I suggest having a copy of Miller's Anatomy of the Dog to go with this dissection guide.

Highly recommended!

    5 out of 5 stars A Must Have Companion to Miller's Guide.......2007-09-29

I am a first year veterinary student and I found this book to be tremendously helpful in conjunction to Miller's Guide to the Dissection of the Dog. This is especially great if you feel many times you are on your own to locate things in Lab. It is a great book to study from when you don't have access to the live animals as well. It pinpoints the palpable bones and shows radiographs. Each body part is photographed at every angle including transverse sections. The book is pretty good with detailing blood vessels and nerves (these are tough no matter what!) This book is composed of colored photos of a preserved Grey Hound with great colored drawings that correspond to each photo (ie vessels and nerves are differentiated).

5 out of 5 stars This book will make your life in dissection labs way easier.......2007-08-14

This book is a god-send to the vet student. Traditional texts like Miller's Guide to the Dissection of the dog are excellent, but the hand-drawn "typical" picture looks nothing like the mutt you have in front of you. This gives you a colour photograph (those of you who have had experience of dissecting a preserved cadever will know how useful that is!) AND an accompanying anatomical drawing OF THE PHOTO, NOT a typical "what you should see" drawing. The anatomical drawing is also in colour, with nerves, blood vessels and items of interest highlighted in separate colours.

It is VERY thorough decription-wise, but has no information about form and function, so it is a tool to use with Miller and Dyce rather than a substitute.

5 out of 5 stars Over my best expectations.......2007-03-19

This is that kind of reference book you appreciate more and more by every year of practice.

5 out of 5 stars Review of Veterinary Anatomy of the dog and cat.......2006-11-10

This is yet another excellent marraige of illustration, photography and text for the novice and clinican alike. The format is easy to use and references are well documented. The photographs are equal to that of virtual dissection. Provides a Great study aid and reference for the practitioner.

5 out of 5 stars Huge help for first-year anatomy lab.......2005-10-14

I wish I'd bought this book before I started vet school! It's a huge help when you're doing your first in-depth dog dissection, because you can get an idea of what things are *supposed* to look like before you start accidentally cutting them up. Beats the heck out of Little Miller's and its b&w line drawings.
