Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Book Description
A thorough analysis of the human body's vital points and how to use them to your advantage in combat handgunning and all types of hand-to-hand combat situations. Must reading for military combat specialists, martial artists and those interested in self-defense.
Customer Reviews:
One of the first books I ever owned on the subject!.......2007-03-19
Being the author of several books on the martial arts and fighting, I am always looking for books of exceptional quality to add to my library. If I have a book in my library, it's definitely worth owning. One such book is N. Mashiro's, "Black Medicine: The Dark Art of Death."
This was one of the first books that I ever purchased years ago when I was in high school and starting to learn about the martial arts. This book gives you a very good overview on the vulnerable and vital points on the human body and is very informative. If you are interested in self-defense or any of the martial arts, I would definitely put this book on your too buy list.
Introduction:
1. The 3 Ways To Get Your Attacker To Stop Hurting You
a. Make him lose his concentration.
b. Interfere with his control over his body.
c. Destroy the integrity of his body.
2. The 3 Ways To Kill Your Opponent
a. Destroy the central nervous system.
b. Destroy or interfere with circulation.
c. Interfere with breathing.
What the author does with this book is to give you a fairly basic, yet detailed description of the locations of certain vulnerable and vital areas of the body, and the effects that certain blows can and will have when directed against these areas. This is done not only through accurate written descriptions, but also through the realistic and practical use of photographs and in some cases, illustrations.
The author breaks down the following chapters to vital points located in certain areas of the body and its extremities. They are as follows:
1. Vital Points of the Head
2. Vital Points of the Neck and Throat
3. Vital Points of the Upper Trunk
4. Vital Points of the Lower Trunk
5. Vital Points of the Hand and Arm
6. Vital Points of the Leg and Foot
The author concludes this book with a section on the vital points of pistol shooting. Which in and of itself is a remarkable section and one in which an entire book should be devoted.
This review is without a doubt the shortest one I have ever written, and on a book that should be a staple in the library of every martial artist and/or self-defense practitioner. Simply stated, "If you could only have a select number of books in your library, this book would definitely be one of them."
Black MEDICINE.......2006-10-01
I have read two of these books and find them generally interesting. The cover and image tends to make one expect a little more but overall a good read. Some good ideas and useful application of common weapons assuming that you can get them to hand in time.
Easier reading than the Dim Mak and Kyusho style books.
Some people really cant see a good book even if you hit them with it........2006-09-03
many reviewers don't have a good grasp on the book or how to review it.
first of all, a gun used as a club and a Axe are weapons at hand, and this is a book on that, so why give it a bad rating for that?
while its true that I and many others might know a lot of these improvised weapons in this book, some of it was stuff i hadn't thought of. and not to criticize the critics, but how to hell do reviews of other books get here? seems like that person is at fault. i haven't read any of the other black medicine books, but i have read others like it. (see below)
id like to go on and compare it to Marc Young's book, pool cues, beer bottles, and baseball bats. the similarities are that is is a book on improvised weapons. the difference is that in Marc's book, he takes a few items and discusses them in great detail while n.mashiro takes a lot of items and discusses them in Small paragraphs, or even a few sentences sometimes. this is not to say that it wont teach you, its just that some thing he could have written bit more on, but some things, like the cat as a weapon, doesn't need a long explanation on how to use it.
in the book, he describes many things yo use as weapons, he even sets some of them up as if your were a hostage and you needed to attack your captors. One example is a soap and a sock, he says "if your captors allow yo you a bar of soap to use to clean yourself, put it In a sock or a towel and use it as an improvised blackjack." he also discusses using the pen as a pocket stick, using a book and three ring notebook as weapons and shield, fishing line to use as a tripwire or Garrott, and many others.
i would defiantly recommend this book and if you like this one, check out pool cues beer bottles, and baseball bats.
Will change your definition of "weapon".......2006-02-16
These days, it's bad legal hygiene to carry weapons, and using them, even in self-defense, can result in compulsory participation in legal proceedings both civil and criminal. Sure, you were attacked, and you defended yourself-- but you had a gun or a knife or whatever, and so you must have been out looking for trouble. And if you fought back with an actually effective weapon, such as a firearm with hollowpoint ammunition, well, you broke the law-- guilty, case closed in a lot of states. It seems as if district attorneys are getting confused about who the victims are. Poor criminals! How are they supposed to get by if citizens arm themselves?
So most of us go around feeling defenseless and hoping we stay on the right side of the statistics column. Others carry weapons and risk getting hassled by cops or facing juries. This book changes all that by making the world your armory, and after you read it, you will never be unarmed again. Nor will you have to put your freedom in jeopardy to give yourself a fighting chance against the bad guys.
What prosecutor could go after you with a straight face for cracking a rapist's skull with a Marksalot? Or for removing a carjacker's teeth with a hair brush? Or for narrowing a mugger's reproductive options with a walking cane?
Be careful, though. This book isn't all about legal hygiene. Mostly it's about all-out scrapping for your life when you have no other choice, and a lot of the non-firearm techniques here could get you in as much trouble as shooting someone. Some of them are pretty disgusting, too.
This certainly isn't a book for ninja fans, martial arts aestheticists, or would-be tough guys. Nor is it a book for the kind of person wants to take some karate classes in order to "feel more confident." It's a book that puts weapons in the hands of nice, ordinary, law-abiding people who might otherwise be unable to defend themselves against the other kind.
Coyote is a Crock.......2005-10-11
Yes, this book does have some flaws in it but it is a VERY informative book regardless of what the self annointed expert "Coyote" says. I, too, could throw on a sash that says "Martial Arts expert" and ridicule the obvious but I prefer to take from this source what it offers- a new way to look at the human body and it's frailties as well as its strengths. Sure, an axe can be a weapon, but who ever thought of throwing a cat at an attacker or using a chair to protect yourself against a knife attack? Obviously, if you are a TRUE Black Belt then you would have no use for this book. But then, that wold be obvious and would preclude you from picking it up to begin with- but only if you were a TRUE martial arts master.
Book Description
What is decolonization? How did decolonization transform the colonial and European metropolitan societies in the aftermath of World War II? How does the legacy of decolonization continue to affect postcolonial politics as well as cultural and intellectual life in the former European powers and ex-colonies? Assembled in The Decolonization Reader for the first time is a unique and broad set of responses to these and other important questions.
In an attempt to better define the emerging field of decolonization, this unparalleled collection of essays authored by many of the world's leading scholars addresses a host of complex issues-including metropolitan politics, gender, sexuality, race, culture, nationalism and economy. Grouped around decolonization's most salient themes, this dynamic spectrum of essays is intended to encourage specialist and non-specialists alike to consider decolonization in Africa and Asia from a comparative, interdisciplinary perspective.
Book Description
Equally suitable for undergraduates and specialists in the humanities, this collection provides an in-depth introduction to debates within post-colonial theory and criticism. The readings are drawn from a diverse selection of Third World and Western thinkers, both historical and contemporary. "Post-colonialism" is taken by the editors to include Third World and diasporic experience, like "colonialism," it is understood to contain a complex set of cultural, ethnographic, political, and economic processes and conflicts.

ASIN: 0340652888 |
Book Description
There is a crisis in contemporary postcolonial theory: while an enormous body of challenging research has been produced under its auspices, severely critical questions about the validity and usefulness of this theory have also been raised. This Reader is positioned at the juncture where it can address these contestations. It makes available some of the "classics" of the field, engages with the issues raised by contemporary practitioners, and offers several of the arguments that strongly critique postcolonial theory.

Reading about a subject enough times can practically kill interest in it--just ask any of the research scientists who are wondering where their replacements will come from. National Geographic gives scientists from Aristotle to Stephen Hawking a say with Curt Suplee's Milestones of Science, a lovely book that captures the imagination with pictures as much as with their accompanying text.
Pavlov's dogs, Volta's battery, and an ancient Chinese compass all contribute to the reader's sense of immersion in the topic at hand, and Suplee's short, pithy essays on topics ranging broadly across all aspects of science whet the appetite for greater depth. Original documents of greats like Leonardo and Galileo, high-detail pictures of modern nuclear and medical machines, and illuminating juxtapositions, like the shots of 19th- and 20th-century surgeries, provide enough material to keep all but the most adamant technophobe interested for hours. --Rob Lightner
Book Description
WHY? It's the most basic question known to humankind, the query that has set us apart from all other species ever since our earliest ancestor stood erect and wondered what made the sun rise every morning or how fire could be tamed. We call ourselves Homo sapiens -- the wise men -- and our thirst for knowledge is science in its purest form. Each answer sparks new questions in an endless quest for knowledge. The rigorous methods and sophisticated tools modern scientists use to investigate everything from the smallest subatomic particles to the farthest reaches of our universe all trace to our intellectual curiosity, that uniquely human trait acquired in our prehistoric past.
Highlighted by more than 300 vivid photographs and illustrations, this fascinating history chronicles the important milestones of scientific thought, each a building block for new revelations. Award-winning science writer Curt Suplee identifies the key ideas and discoveries that shaped our understanding of our world and ourselves and introduces the men and women whose questing intellects illuminated the very nature of reality itself.
We hear Archimedes shout "Eureka!" and listen as Aristotle ponders nature's mysteries. We peer through Galileo's telescope as he revolutionizes astronomy, and through Leeuwenhoek's microscope as he finds life teeming in a single drop of water. We meet Marie Curie in a darkened lab lit by the ghostly glow of radium and stand beside the physicists of Los Alamos as the nuclear age is born in a flash of blinding light. And these are only a few of the scientific pioneers whose insights are explored and explained, a brilliant roll call that sweeps from Euclid to Edison to Einstein, from Pythagoras and Ptolemy to Descartes, Newton, Darwin, Marconi, and many, many others.
In this engrossing, enlightening volume, Suplee brings science vividly to life, revealing a vital, intense pursuit far different from the dry and intimidating discipline we imagine all too often. Instead, he presents a comprehensive, compelling drama of discovery and accomplishment that encompasses every aspect of human experience as we seek to answer the quintessential question: why?
Customer Reviews:
Good book for the reader interested in the humanity's search for knowledge.......2006-04-24
Well presented and layed out book, for people generally intrigued by humanity's striving towards finding ultimate knowledge.
Lightweight, richly illustrated overview of science history.......2001-02-23
Award-winning science writer Curt Suplee provides a lightweight overview of the history of science in this richly illustrated book from National Geographic. It's effectively written in a series of very short (one-page) chapters, each one covering a specific scientific advancement and accompanied by an appropriate illustration or illustrations. Not surprisingly, it's a bit simpleminded, lacking in controversy and focusing on "the mighty march of science." Still, it's a good read with marvelous illustrations, and even I (who consider myself an expert in the history of science) learned a few things.
I'd recommend this one for a bright youngster (junior high or thereabouts) who is developing an interest in science, or for an adult looking for a simple, easy-to-read overview of the history of science.

Book Description
How do "no-fault," "gender-neutral" divorce reforms actually harm the lives of women and children they are designed to protect? Focusing on the language and symbols of reform, Martha Fineman argues that by advocating measures based on equality of treatment rather than of outcome, liberal feminists disregarded the socioeconomic factors that simultaneously place women at a disadvantage in the market and favor their taking on primary domestic responsibilities. She traces in persuasive detail the detrimental effects of equality rhetoric in shaping divorce law — such as the legal separation of parents' and children's interests; equality replacing need as the prime criterion for settlements; and the increase of state intervention into family life. More than a critique, this book is an incisive argument for adopting outcome-oriented measures and a valuable overview of the pitfalls of uncritically implementing any rhetoric as social policy.

Book Description
The central question in this book is whether we can find practical, besides theoretical, evidence for the existence of a single market in Europe and what is its practical meaning for the Member States and their trading partners. Besides this business perspective on the single market the authors have treated developments occuring outside the limit EC context, such as the GATT negotiations or the issue of Swiss `money laundering' which have an impact on the functioning of the European market. This book touches a wide variety of issues confronting politicians, businessmen and the general public today, as is reflected in the contents of its articles dealing with the EEA, competition law, merger control, supervision of banking services, money laundering, public procurement, environmental legislation, conflict solution in multi-lateral free trade arrangements, the legal framework for suing in Europe.

The authors identify relevant factors common to both countries and explain why their respective developments diverged. Germany and the USA - The Krefeld Historical Symposia
Book Description
The purpose of the study was the collection and presentation of information on inheritance in Islam with particular attention being paid to women. Following an explanation of how the research was motivated, Part One gives a detailed survey of religious bases, law books and expert opinion, complemented by examples of division of inheritance in actual practice. Part Two summarises information gained in interviews. The often confusing practices of dowry and the special phenomenon of postponed division of inheritance are explained and supported by model cases. Women's economic independence and various aspects of the transfer of property in the absence of wills are also discussed.

Book Description
The definitive guide to intellectual property for business managers
How can a product of the mindÂan innovation, a song, a logo, a business secretÂbecome the subject of precise property rights? No idea is entirely original; every innovative business borrows, sometimes extensively, from its competitors and others. So how do we draw the line between fair and unfair use?
Billions of dollars ride on that question, as do the fates of publishers, software producers, drug companies, advertising firms, and many others. ItÂ's also a key question for individualsÂfor instance, if you quit your job after mastering the companyÂ's secrets, what can you do with that information?
With the growth of the internet and global markets, having a smart IP strategy is more essential than ever. Intellectual Property is the ideal book for non-lawyers who deal with patents, trade secrets, trademarks, and copyrightsÂall essential business issues that have changed rapidly in the last few years.
Goldstein draws on dozens of fascinating case studies, from the Polaroid vs. Kodak battle to KelloggÂ's surprising trademark suit against Exxon to whether a generic perfume is allowed to smell exactly like Chanel No. 5.
Every business decision that involves IP is also a legal decision, and every legal decision is also a business decision. Lawyers and managers need to work together to navigate these murky waters, and this book shows how.
