Writing Your Life: An Easy-to-Follow Guide to Writing an Autobiography.......2007-09-10
Lucid and inclusive, Writing Your Life: An Easy-to-Follow Guide to Writing an Autobiography, help me to navigate my way through most difficult moments to recall. To get the right answers one must ask the right questions, and that is what this book is all about. Everyone no matter how insignificant should write an autobiography because that is the way to be remembered without being president or a movie star or whatever makes someone to be famous. You may not be a professional writer, but so what? Give it a try, do it for your amusement. You may find it more of a learning experience than a simple writing. Love the book and enjoyed at the same time.
Great resource.......2007-04-05
I am an older adult educator. This is an excellent tool for teaching my students to write their life experiences.
Terrific book!.......2000-01-06
This book is so easy to use and interesting. I love the sample writing from real people! I gave the book to my mother and got her started writing. The results were so meaningful. She loved both the book and her family's response to her writing. What a great way to get families to communicate!
An easy-to-use guide for TEACHING memoir writing.......1999-05-04
For the past several months, I have been teaching a class based on this book at our local senior center. Even though I am young (my oldest student is 60 years older than I am) and not experienced in gerontology, this book helps me teach this class with ease. My students and I are astonished by activities like "Floor Plan" that enable students to remember things they have not thought about in 50 years. The appendix, which lists cultural history and historical events by decade, also really jogs their memories. The writing prompts throughout the book help my students to write wonderful stories. Their stories are not only interesting but well-written with the help of the writing tips that Borg gives. The best part of all is that these student writers are impressed with their own work and excited to share it with their families. I can't say enough about this book, but I think one of my students said it best. She told me, "Writing my life stories has changed my life. It has made me a better person and has improved my relationships with my daughters."
A creative, warm and practical guide to an autobiography.......1999-04-15
What a great book! I never thought my life was worth writing about; it was too normal. The real writing examples in the book showed me that everyone's life is special and that each of us has individual stories. I thought about the loss of my grandparents' and parents' stories as they pass away and wanted to leave something for my grandchildren. The writing suggestions are creative and memory provoking through all the phases of life. The book is a pleasure to use.

Falls flat.......2003-10-02
While reviewers and the publisher claim that this book is innovative, ground-breaking, etc., it instead goes a long way toward demostrating why academic military history is ignored and why so-called popular militart history, which editor Jeremy Black poo-poo's, is not only more popular but also more accessible. Black's introduction is a jargon-filled, poorly written constructed beginning to a volume that lacks an overall theme. The sections seem disjointed. Again, for a book that is supposed to be innovative, essays such as Spencer Tucker's on WWI is merely a summary of events and a list of innovations. Absolutely nothing new or fresh at all. Why bother to include it? Showalter's chapter is good, but it is followed by Black's own work that fails to tie anything together.

Book Description
In Moral Boundaries Joan C. Tronto provides one of the most original responses to the controversial questions surrounding women and caring. Tronto demonstrates that feminist thinkers have failed to realise the political context which has shaped their debates about care. It is her belief that care cannot be a useful moral and political concept until its traditional and ideological associations as a "women's morality" are challenged.
Moral Boundaries contests the association of care with women as empirically and historically inaccurate, as well as politically unwise. In our society, members of unprivileged groups such as the working classes and people of color also do disproportionate amounts of caring. Tronto presents care as one of the central activites of human life and illustrates the ways in which society degrades the importance of caring in order to maintain the power of those who are privileged.
Book Description
"We're looking at a biological holocaust of unprecedented magnitude."
- Paul Watson
Paul Watson has rammed fishing trawlers, sunk whaling ships, sailed boldly into Soviet waters (when the Cold War still brewed) and brazenly taunted the governments of several powerful countries. He has stood in the path of oncoming icebreakers to protect seal nurseries, and overturned the law that shielded hunters of baby seals from protest and active intervention to stop slaughter. He is the environmentalist who scathingly referred to Greenpeace, an organization he helped found, as "the Avon ladies of the environmental movement." Now he owns a submarine.
Why? Paul Watson's unswerving mission is to publicize -- and stop -- the atrocities committed against the creatures who inhabit the world's oceans.
His life story is one of a man with more than the courage of his convictions -- time and time again he has risked his life for his beliefs. He rammed the Sierra, a whaling vessel whose masters illegally slaughtered 25,000 whales; he sailed up to a whale processing plant in the former Soviet Union and calmly snapped photographs when confronted with armed guards; he drove a Cuban fishing boat off the Grand Banks to protect the depleted cod population and he founded the radical and confrontationalist Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, after he became disillusioned with Greenpeace tactics.
Ocean Warrior is the story of Paul Watson's conservation career -- an amazing chronicle of bravery, horrifying slaughter and international intrigue. A story of passion and principles, it will not easily be forgotten by anyone who cares about the fate of our oceans -- or our planet.
Customer Reviews:
amazing!.......2002-11-05
This book will make you laugh and cry all at once. Paul is a great writer and has packed more adventure into his life that all the Star Trek episodes put together. Time after time as you read you are sure he is done for this time, will be dead or in jail, but time after time he miraculously prevails in his Pirate Vikinq quest to save the whales.
READ THIS BOOK!.......2001-10-23
One of the best books I have ever read! Without any question. Watson will make you laugh, cry, and most of all, get up and take action. He is one of the few humans I admire. For the most part I am so disgusted with my species I am ashamed to belong to the human race. Capt'n Watson and his crew are amoung the few souls I have any respect for. He is a true Mahatma. READ THIS BOOK!
I was taught humans are neither demons nor angels but occupy the spectrum in between. Well far too many of us gravitate towards one end of the spectrum don't we? And that's why our homeworld has become the cesspool that it is. If we make it out of this mess, it will be because of people like Watson.
Watson is a criminal.......2001-10-18
Watson wasn't enforcing international law, there was no international LAW against the "crimes" he claims whalers committed. He has stated elsewhere that he has authority to "enforce" this law from a [non binding] UN resolution that was issued many months AFTER he started sinking ships.
This is a self aggrandizing piece of droll from a common criminal. He gives a bad name to a good cause.
I'm very glad I had someone else's copy and I didn't spend my money on it.
We need many more like him........2001-03-20
I worked and sailed with Captain Watson for more than three years. You may not like the what he does or how he writes, but that doesn't matter one bit to him! His only concern is for those animals and ecosystems that he is fighting so hard to protect. He is an gifted leader and speaker, one of the world's most successful activists (if you count results rather than media attention), and has been an inspiration to and mentor of many others that fight for environmental justice.
Read this book, try to soak up some of his message and his passion - then do something with it.
Eco-terrorists of the world unite!!!!!.......1999-05-23
Paul Watson is one of the few hominids on this planet who actually knows what he's doing with his life. Over the last two hundred years humanity's impact upon Gaia has become exponential. Only people with his courage, compassion and vision offer us any hope. "Whether 'tis better in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles and by opposing end them" -Shakespeare
Customer Reviews:
Uplifting story based on fact.......2006-03-28
This book is one of the few uplifting stories based on reality and not fiction. It's the story of a tag-along onboard Paul Watson's sea vessel. Paul Watson is a modern-day pirate who patrols international waters and interferes with/or shuts down illegal fishing and hunting. The concept is interesting by itself, but this book puts that idea into a real world situtation involving confrontations in the middle of the ocean where there are no laws. Watson is an inspiration for our generation... who else do you know that attacks Japanese whaling ships?
Some of the story-telling by the author is sub-par, but the content definitely keeps you going. Definitely recommend.

A Must For Environmentalists and Marine Animal Lovers!.......2000-03-27
The truth behind many hot environmental topics is discussed in this book and also displayed using many graphs and charts. Everything from the dolphin-tuna controversy to the seal and sea lion over-population problem in the Northwest and how they effect salmon is covered in this one book. This book is fabulous and gives insite from every angle imaginable. Unfortunately, there are no color plates.
