Book Description
It's getting dark out, but one stubborn Pigeon is NOT going to bed! Toddlers and parents will love this interactive bedtime romp which puts readers back in the driver's seat, deflecting Pigeon's sly trickery as he tries to escape his inevitable bedtime. Will you let him stay up late?
Customer Reviews:
I love these books!.......2007-10-01
Mo Willems' Pigeon books are a great collection of books. The text is succinct; great for the younger crowd. The illustrations are simple. And the pigeon character will charm you. Love it!
Cute idea but kids aren't interested........2007-09-29
I think the humor is above the level that the book targets. It ready funny for an adult but my daughters don't like it much.
as good as the others.......2007-09-27
One of my children's favorite books is "Don't let the pigeon drive the bus" so I was hoping that this would stand up to the same humor, and we were not disappointed. My kids (6&3) laughed at all his excuses. And now some nights when they keep thinking of things they need to keep them from going to bed...I can just say "goodnight Pigeon" and they laugh and head to bed.
A great book for anyone with children who think up 999 ways to stay up late!
another pigeon hit.......2007-09-21
My son loves the pigeon books. I don't know why, but he is under 2 and quickly memorizes them. Having loved Bus and Hot Dog, Don't let the pigeon stay up late follows as another success. Every parent of kids two and under should purchase these pigeon books.
Another great addition to the lineup.......2007-09-15
First off, you have to understand these books, while silly and somewhat simple, have an incredible, if unexplainable, appeal to kids, but not necessarily adults. In this book, Pigeon uses a whole list of excuses as to why he's not tired. Slowly, he wears downs and, as with most kids, falls asleep whether he likes it or not. A fun read, especially for parents that have young ones who love to extend out bedtime night after night.
As with all the pigeon books, you have to be a 'creative' reader -use voices, make sure you change the tone and pitch of your voice. The replies made by pigeon are ones we all hear everyday, and reading it with some feeling greatly adds to the enjoyment and appeal of the book. My boys both love this whole series - and while I still have difficulty seeing why they think it's as hilarious as they do, we nevertheless, read and re-read these books over and over.

T Rex meets School Bus.......2006-08-14
Did you ever think your school bus driver was an animal? In this book, the boy's friends have wild imaginations and compares the driver to a T Rex. This book is great for my almost 3 year old because it combines dinosaurs with his love of vehicles.
The School Bus Driver from the Black Lagoon.......2006-07-06
My students are reluctant readers, but they love "The Black Lagoon Series"! I am grateful for the amusing yet simply written stories that the kids read again and again.
It was pretty good.......2000-11-21
I really liked the part about "no inhaling and exhaling on the bus." I think that it's the most make believe book that you have ever written.
The School Bus Driver from the Black Lagoon.......2000-03-23
The book is cool. The bus driver is crazy. Its a fun book and a great series.

Book Description
In the growing world of NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., is a new kind of star. His down-home modesty, rock-and-roll lifestyle, and blinding intensity on the racetrack represent the new face of this fast-paced sport. Now Dale Jr. straps you into the #8 car for a wild ride through his rookie year.In this full-throttle story, Dale Jr. shares a tumultuous year of victory and joy, tragedy and heartbreak. At the age of twenty-five, he embarks on his first Winston Cup season. In a time filled with lofty expectations, when he tries to concentrate on winning, he is thrust into the limelight and forced to endure the crush of the media, huge crowds, endless travel, and faster and more dangerous cars than he has ever driven before. Week after week he goes bumper-to-bumper with his father and more than forty of the world's finest drivers-all the while trying to carve out his own identity and win the respect of his peers.DRIVER #8 takes you on NASCAR's inside track. You'll see how races are won or lost and the strategies that go into every lap and every race. You'll get a compelling look at the bond necessary between a driver and his team and understand how, come race day, the spotter is often the driver's best friend. And you'll learn how that bond can be stretched when the season begins to turn sour and the weight of racing against a man who is not only your father but also your boss, your toughest competitor, and a NASCAR legend takes its toll on a young driver.Powered by a high-octane mix of bravado, humility, and a lot of beer, Dale Jr. captures the unique pressures of making split-second, life-and-death decisions behind the wheel of a racecar...and highlights the perks-and often the drudgery-that go along with being a rising star in the world's most colorful and exciting sport. Thrilling, vivid, and authentic, DRIVER #8 is one helluva ride.
Customer Reviews:
Great book!.......2007-10-06
This book was great. I enjoyed the descriptions of all of the tracks that Jr. raced at and how he talked to his dad and Matt Kenseth about things that were happening at any one moment. I also enjoyed hearing how him and Tony Jr. have such an honest relationship. They may yell at each other during a race on the radio, but after the race is over they are able to go back to being cousins/friends again. They leave it all on the racetrack. Very well written book! A must for any Jr. fan!
Driver #8 by Dale Earnhardt.......2007-07-09
This book is great! It is just like you are sitting and talking to him. It seems to be word for word what Dale was tring to say.
What a good job.......2007-05-13
I really enjoyed reading about his experience as a driver. It is well written and not boring. Which it could have been since it is always hard to write about work. I loved watching his father race and now I get to watch him.
LIKE IT.......2007-05-12
WAS A GREAT BOOK AND AM GLAD I'VE GOT IT NOW THAT HE IS LEAVING DEI
Old School Dale Jr........2007-01-04
The book is a look at the first year of his career.... however, I will admit the authors seem to exagerrate the excitement of his year. The book would be a little better if you felt it was entirely realistic. However, that put aside it's a neat look at the first year of a NASCAr career.

Max drives a taxi. One morning when he goes outside to get in his cab, something very strange is going on: spring showers are coming from the sky, but they look like whirly spring things! Max's day gets crazier by the page as he runs into more zany situations. Among the wonders of his wacky, pun-filled day are a "tooth ferry" to take Marina and her mom to the dentist and a jar of "traffic jam" blocking intersections in the middle of town. Puns pop out from the page in bright red type, so no new punster will miss the tricks, and the colorful, imaginative illustrations are just right for the text.
Fun, funny, and a great introduction to the multiple uses of words and phrases, Max's Wacky Taxi Day is a worthy sequel to writer-illustrator Max Grover's debut: Parent's Choice winner The Accidental Zucchini. (Ages 4 to 8)
Book Description
Come along for a ride on some of the strangest streets you’ve ever seen as Max drives his taxi through a not-so-normal day. Which way to go? No need to decide until you come to the FORK IN THE ROAD. A stalled car blocking traffic? “He’s lucky the BIG TOE TRUCK came so quickly,” says Max. BASEBALL DIAMONDS? SPRING SHOWERS? ROCK CONCERTS? Max and his bright yellow taxi make every trip an amusing adventure.

Excellent Story.......2000-04-27
The author profiles the life of Mary Fields, a freed slave who,as the first African American woman letter carrier, delivered theU.S. mail via stagecoach between Cascade, Montana, and St. Peter's Mission in the late 1800s. Although Miller cites no sources and relates this tale in a style more suited to folklore than to biography, he does present a picture of a strong, independent woman who never allowed others to take advantage of her. Hanna's lively colored pencil drawings bring the cigar-chomping, gun-slinging heroine to life and include many details of the Montana frontier. A useful addition to units on African Americans and U.S. history, or, pair it with Geis' The First Ride , another perspective on pioneer mail delivery. Book Description
Tourism is the world's largest industry and environmentally sustainable tourism or "ecotourism" has become a major area of interest for governments, the private sector and international lending institutions. It is regarded as a way of allowing economic development whilst protecting against environmental degradation, especially in those countries with fragile ecosystems. However, this may not be the reality. Rosaleen Duffy presents the first critical analysis of "ecotourism"; does it deliver real environmental benefits or is it just a marketing opportunity â "green greed"? By the extensive use of case study and interview material, she shows how ecotourism can work to support conservation and local economies given the right political context and regulation.
The ideas and proposals that are presented will be important for the development of ecotourism around the globe and will be vital reading for academics in development and environmental studies and for NGOs and the tourism industry.
Customer Reviews:
Not worth your time.......2006-04-06
While it attempts to be a damning account of ecotourism's flaws, this book is itself so philosophically flawed that it is not worth reading. The author tries to bring out every point to say that ecotourism has negative side affects, even if they are philosophically contradicting, for example she criticizes the industry for both giving women jobs that cement domestic roles, and giving them jobs that free them from traditional roles, adn therefore cause strife in their communities.
Or she goes on about how ecotourism is not a challenge to the capitalist system, so therefore it is somehow fundamentally flawed. Or worse, at one point Duffy even says that because ecotourism is at times credible, it therefore lends credibility to capitalist goals of environmental preservation, and since that is bad, ecoutourism is bad for lending a bad thing credibility.
The part I like best though is when she talks about how ecotourist guides who have implemented no swimming with manatees policies in order to protect the manatees, are tempted financially by tourists to begin offering tours that allow them to do so. So ecotourism is bad because ecotourist guides are tempted to move towards regular tourism? Its almost as good as when she says that guides face compelx problems, because "tourists are not a captive audience, which means that the guides have to make the trips interesting and entertaining?" So ecotourism puts pressure on tour guides to run good interesting?
Certainly ecotourism is not all its cracked up to be, but this book should have focused on the simpler points of where it falls short. It also should have provided better anecdotal evidence of how it has the similar negative effects to regular tourism.
