Book Description
Boozing. Womanizing. Brawling. Singing. For the last forty years George Jones has reigned as the country's king--the singer many have called the Frank Sinatra of country. And for most of that time, his career has been marked by hard-living, hard-loving, and hard luck. From his early east Texas recordings through his marriage with Tammy Wynette to his latest acclaim as a solid citizen and "high-tech red-neck," Americans have been fascinated with Jones, never even knowing whether he's going to show up for his next concert.
Now, in
I Lived To Tell It All, George Jones supplies a no-holds-barred account of his excesses and ecstasies. How alcohol ruled his life and performances. How violence marred many friendships and relationships. How money was something to be made but never held on to. And, finally, how the love of a good woman can ultimately change a man, redeem him, and save his life.

My husband loved it.......2007-01-04
I purchased this book for my husband's birthday because he is a big George Jones fan. I have to tell you, this is first book he has read, cover to cover, since we have been married!! We were on vacation in Florida and I love sitting around the pool or laying on the beach, reading. In the past, my husband made me nervous because he couldn't sit still for 2 minutes. During the week we were there, he sat and read this book every day!! Made it one of my favorite vacations ever!!
Great .......2006-10-02
Now this is a real classic. Anybody interested in music in general and in country music especially has to read the autobiography of George Jones. It is simply incredible, recounting his troubles with addiction and the law, while also recounting some great country music history.
Wish You Hadn't Told, George.......2006-03-29
Being a huge George Jones fan, I felt as though his music was the one constant in his life that enabled him to "go on" after whatever disappointments life dealt; sing about the pain and let it go, sort of deal. After reading this book (and I really wish I hadn't) I am left more with the impression that his music was just a means to fund his habits and addictions. I'm not sure what I expected, but this book wasn't it. The book's focus seems to be repetitive through and through on being "high" or "drunk" and stupid things George did while under the influence. No big love story on the George and Tammy thing. He even divulges that he has, in fact, physically abused his current wife, Nancy. I'm going to forget(or try to) that I ever read this as I listen to all my GJ music and remember what I was doing when the song(s) came out, and NOT what George says he was doing when he recorded it/them.
The biography of the craziest man, ever.......2006-03-26
I watched 'Walk the Line' and 'Coal Miner's Daughter' and Elvis Presly specials. I've read biographies of Hendrix, Duane Allman, and Janis Joplin. None of their lives hold a candle to ol' George Jones. His career rode the top of the charts as good as any country legend. He ruined his life at least as incredibly as any rock star. And amazingly, he lived through it all and still plays shows for his fans. Lastly, his life has a happy ending (thus far).
No one's story parallels George. Read this book for yourself to see.
A Few Yawns but NO Sleeper!.......2006-03-20
This book starts out very good, with little known details about George Jones and his family, and the writer makes the facts flow like a good fiction novel, rather then an autobiography, it really is. In the middle it starts to drag with the countless nights playing in bars and the stories about those nights seem to run into one another, so that it feels like all the bar "places" were one and the same. A few pages even made me fall asleep [lol] but once I awoke I plodded through them and it picked back up again, ending on a great autobiography about a man who's life is literally a rags to riches story all accomplished by the sweat of his own brow. George Jones is very much his OWN man, some helped open doors for him, but they did not assist him in his style and excellent song writing skills, determination and guts to succeed. George Jones very much made himself into who and what he was and is still today, a GREAT Country Music Icon, that NO ONE will ever be able to "fill his shoes". The saddest part was the story behind the demise of country great Lefty Frizzell, made me cry. My favorite part; His older sister Helen's husband, W.T. "Dub" Scroggins. A man you will immediately grow to love, as I did. The pictures are awesome too...OVER 16 pages of photos. A must read for all fans of Country Music and it's greatest singer ever; GEORGE JONES.
Book Description
Mention of the Zulu War of 1879 inevitably conjures up images of the redcoats at Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift; it is often forgotten that the limited number of Imperial troops available led to the raising of several thousand local troops from Natal, Cape Colony and beyond. Typified by hard-riding white frontiersmen and lightly armed African infantry, these units made up for the British Army's severe shortage of cavalry scouts and local knowledge. Ian Castle's concise study of their organisation, uniforms, weapons, and campaign service covers a far wider range of units than ever previously published; it is illustrated with rare photographs and vivid colour plates.

Book Description
An examination of both theoretical and practical approaches to the geochemistry of natural waters with a more tightly focused emphasis on fresh-water environments. The third edition focuses more on environmental issues than the previous edition, reflecting the importance on environmental geochemistry as a result of increased environmental awareness and regulatory requirements. Prepares readers to interpret the probable cause of a particular water composition and to predict the probable water chemistry in those situations where data do not exist.
Customer Reviews:
Geochemistry of Natural Waters.......2004-06-17
I had used this text book for a graduate class in Chemical Hydrogeology while doing my Masters. I found this to be a very poor text to use. The textbook presents a very qaulitative approach to geochemistry of natural waters and does not lend itself to quanititative problem solving. I purchased other texts on ths subject so that I could cross-reference and determine how to setup problems for equilibrium chemistry. I would not recommend use of this text.
Needs Work.......2001-11-09
This book does not lend itself to an introductory class in geochemistry for the graduate student. The material does not present comprehensive derivations of calculations, but relies on prior knowledge and assumption not generally available,or known by the graduate student first being introduced to Geochemistry. The majority of the book is normally only comprehensable to the student after the material has been described by persons knowledgable in the subject mater. In other word this book is worthless to read prior to the lecture on the subject mater. Furthermore, the appendices are full of errors and contradictions to other references, and the book has numerous typos and difficult language constructs that make the text incomprehensible at times. I hope there is a better book for the introductory graduate class in geochemistry out there, because this book does not cut it.
Valuable Reference for Aqueous Geochemistry Concepts.......2001-01-18
Drever's has long been a valuable reference in my own work and in the classes I teach. It is one of several references I use for understanding geochemical processes. The first sentence of the preface states that the text is intended for advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate courses. I first used this text when I took Aqueous Geochem in grad school and it really made a difference in understanding applications. Spend an hour with Stumm and Morgan and then look at Drever. You'll almost see the lightbulb go on over your head. The example calculations are great and the addition of the geochemical models enhance the applicability of the text.
However, I would note that if you need to start with introductory chemical concepts this isn't the book for you.
If you are weak in chemistry start elsewhere.
Still... two thumbs up from this reviewer.
Esencial para los geologos.......2000-10-18
Libro muy sencillo de leer y sus ejemplos son muy didacticos
This book overcomplicates even the simplest of topics........1998-10-29
This book fails to explain topics in a manner suitable for beginners in this field. I recomend choosing any other book over this one.

Book Description
Groundwater and Surface Water Pollution contains almost all the technical know-how required to clean up our water supply. It provides a survey of up-to-date technologies for remediation, as well as a step-by-step guide to pollution assessment for both ground and surface waters. The book defines groundwater, aquifers and surface water and discusses the physical properties of soils, liquids, vadose zones and aquifers. It emphasizes controlling nonpoint source pollution, best management practices, and an integrated management approach. The editors cover not only engineering but also legal, medical, agricultural, meteorological, biological and other fields of study. They reach beyond the simplistic hydrological cycles usually addressed to the complexities encountered by rapidly-changing land-use patterns. In addition to focusing on causes, effects, and remedies, Groundwater and Surface Water Pollution stresses reuse, recycling, and recovery of resources. Nature does not cause pollution. Through total recycling, we can, like nature, make resources out of wastes.
