Emotions Overflowed.......2004-07-18
This book "The Fake Rose & Sonny", will bring out inner feelings in any person that has ever experienced abuse while growing up. I cried, laughed & cried some more. While reading the book I actually let my mind wonder to the hills of TN. I became barefoot on the outside swing with a box of Kleenex and couldn't put the book down. The vocabulary and terminology used by the author is plain, simple and it's easy to follow through each scenario. But yet each page I read and turned brought more of an intense impassioned feeling. The neglect and abuse of a woman's feelings is something society has always overlooked. My heart goes out to (Cheryl Leigh) for all that she has carried on her shoulders. We all need to find happiness in life and this book has taught me not to settle for anything less than true happiness. This book is a must have and read!
Perfect book for the Oprah bookclub.......2004-06-21
Oprah will love this book!!!!This book follows an Appalachian family from Kentucky who makes James Lee Burke's characters look like "Father Knows Best". Rarely can a first time writer capture the attention of anyone who picks up the book whether they are from Southern Appalachia or Kitchener, Canada. My son-in-law in Phoenix also read the book and made the comment that
the author had him feeling sorry for the dad at one point in time even though he was a "sorry excuse for a human being".
It takes a good writer to create this kind of emotion.
The undercurrent of this book is about relationships between a
husband and wife and the constant change of getting to know and validate yourself for who you are and feeling shortchanged.
A lot of soul and heart was poured into this book and this is a
"must read".
The Fake Rose & Sonny.......2004-02-15
This book keeps your attetion from the frist page to the last page. It's the best book I've ever read, never knew so many things could happen in a person life time
The Fake Rose & Sonny: Rekindled Love by Shirley Morgan.......2004-02-01
I couldn't put this book down. "The Fake Rose & Sonny", has it all, abuse, humor, lust, and most of all it is a story of perseverance and undying love. Not like most stories of abuse, where the abused becomes the abusers. There are no pity parties for Rose (Cheryl Leigh) and Sonny. When life deals them lemons, they make lemonade. People who read this book will also need a box of tissue.

Great book for pics!.......2002-04-10
This is a good book only for the AWESOME PICTURES!!! There isn't much useful info, but who cares when you get some really cool & rare Legion pics!!!!
The Foreign Legion Picturebook!.......2000-07-11
This book is a brief (66 page) book about the French Foreign Legion. It looks and reads more like a magazine, with tons of great photographs... plus inserts, fact sheets & the like. It doesn't go much into history (hence the title), but it does describe each regiment/unit. It also has information that I haven't seen anywhere else--on the Pioneers, for example. (There was no mention of the Pioneers anywhere in Douglas Porch's 600+ page "The French Foreign Legion.") This book is a must-have for any Legion buff.
Note that the information is a little dated. The French no longer perform nuclear testing, for example. After reading this book, you may want to join, but make sure to get current information first!
Legion for sale ..............2000-02-20
When you glance throug this book you get the impression of some one trying to sell something. In this case it's the legion. First brief history about the legion and then a couple of lines about diffrent regiments in the FFL. You get the impression that the authour wanted to finish this book quickly, that he rather wanted to do something else. The reason I gave this book so high grades is because of the absoulutely awsome pictures ! There are about a 100 full colored pictures here sometimes taking a whole page for them selves. They flourish of life and adventure and your going like "wow !" and "ahh" all the time. So if you want a look inside of the legion (litterrary speaking) this is the book for you.

As he did in his bestselling books The O'Reilly Factor and The No Spin Zone, TV and radio host Bill O'Reilly again blasts a host of selfish and corrupt individuals and institutions for threatening the nation's well-being--no surprise there. What is surprising is the personal tone of Who's Looking Out For You, which is as much self-help as social or political commentary. Is O'Reilly getting soft? Hardly. He still packs a punch, but this time he mixes tales of outrage with practical advice gleaned from his own experiences and mistakes. The underlying theme of the book is trust. If you can identify and associate with those that deserve your trust, he argues, you will get along well in both your personal and professional life. Among those external forces undeserving of trust, according to O'Reilly, are the media (particularly harmful to children, he warns), the legal system, and the government: "Our federal government is not good at helping real people who have real problems, and it doesn't care about the money you give it as long as that revenue train keeps chugging along," he writes. He also hammers the INS for their lax stance on illegal immigrants and the damage it has caused the country, irresponsible parents, secularists, network news executives, ideologues, and minority leaders who foster hatred in order to serve their own interests, to name just a few offenders. Though some of his advice tends toward the obvious, it is hard to argue with his emphasis on self-reliance, especially at a time when the answer to the question posed in his title seems to be "just me." It's a good bet that many readers will also add Bill O'Reilly to this list. --Shawn Carkonen
Book Description
From the mega-bestselling author of The O'Reilly Factor and The No Spin Zone, a no-holds-barred exposé of the people and institutions who are letting Americans down – and what we should do about it.
Bill O’Reilly is mad as hell – and he’s not going to let you take it anymore. In his most powerful and personal book yet, this media powerhouse and unstoppable truth-teller takes on those individuals and institutions in American life who are failing in their duties – big-time. In his inimitable style, mixing wit, pugnacity, and plain common sense, O’Reilly kicks butt and takes (and also names) names – from crooked corporate weasels to venal politicians to lazy and/or politically correct bureaucrats to sexually predatory priests and the Church hierarchy that protects them to a media establishment rife with political bias and economically hooked on violence and smut. At the same time that he calls the famous and powerful to account, he dares to get personal, questioning just how much our closest friends, families, and lovers do look out for us, and delivering a powerful message about personal responsibility and self-reliance in an uncertain world. He forces us to ask just how much genuine altruism is left in a society that thrives on self-indulgence and ruthless competition.
Who’s Looking Out for You? is a book that boldly confronts our worst fears and biggest problems in a post-9/11, post-corporate-meltdown world. Its sage, candid advice on regaining control and trust in these troubled times will resonate with the millions of readers and viewers who have come to believe in Bill O’Reilly as the man who speaks for them.

Sharing His Life Lessons.......2007-10-12
Television commentator Bill O'Reilly advises people to become problem solvers by developing "the ability to recognize who really cares about you as a person - and who does not." This is great advice that many never follow. He contends in this book that the government, media, church hierarchy, and big business are not looking out for ordinary Americans and hence are failing them. Along with some personal stories, this book gives good advice. This book does contain some strong language.
Five Thums Up.......2007-09-22
When Bill is on tv my mom lets me watch and I have good grades in school.Bill O'Reilly is very smart
Kids look up to Bill cause he's smart and educated and he is real funny sometimes.
Bill O'Reilly laughs at the nasty letters he gets and I like that about him to.
Reading this book was not easy but my mom helps me through it and I love Bill just like I love my mom.
Mom loves it.............2007-05-14
I bought this for my Mom....
She loves O'Reilly...
She LOVES this book!!
Another homerun for O'Reilly.......2007-03-23
Example after example of ways in which the government programs that claim to be looking out for you prove to have a negative effects. Gives the reader good insight into numberous programs that "seem" to be for our benefit, but have a dark side, not presented in the popular media. Everyone should have this information. Make you own decisions, but at least have the facts first.
Who's looking out for you?.......2007-03-09
This is a great, upfront book about what is going on around us...so many people live in such small areas that to read what Bill has to say really opens our eyes. As time changes so will some of what is in this book, but for the most part he is really with it.

Writer and Talk show host Bill O'Reilly.......2007-09-20
3 Cheers for Bill O'Reilly and this great book of his.
I bought it as soon as it came out because Bill O'Reilly is my hero!
I watch his show every night.I never missed one episode of The O'Reilly Factor and I love him.
Bill O'Reilly is not just a brilliant man with an engineering mind but he is also a man of tremendous personality.
What I like best about Bill O'Reilly is his sense of justice.
Well, I like Bill O'Reilly's sense of morality too. And also his great wit.
This book is great and I would definitly recommend it. Not just to Bill's fans but to anyone who has an interest in todays'culture, and today's national event.
Here's 3 cheers to you Mr O'Reilly !
Bill Oreilly is looking out for us.......2007-08-25
This book took me a long time to read but it was definitly worth iit.
I liked this book from begining to end and watch his program whenever I can.I think everyone should read this book.
Who's Looking Out for You?.......2007-07-27
I don't agree with Bill O'Reilly on everything nor did I with my sainted mother!!
This book does show without a doubt that O'Reilly is indeed looking out for us--Most of us.
It's a quick read with many funny historical facts and neat pictures, especially the hair on O'Reilly. LOL
We Can Look Out For Ourselves.......2007-06-20
Bill O'Reilly is a clear representation of a man that would have been better off if he was not given a mouth. This brainless sack of excrement tries to brainwash the American society to becoming right-wing sheep like O'Reilly himself, but Mr. O'Reilly fails to realize that there are smart people, and these are not the people that read this one-sided conservative rubbish.
Face it, kids and conservative sheep, this man is just a egoistic bigot who has no clue what he's talking about. I prefer a colostomy bag over this.
Who's Looking Out for You.......2007-05-14
O'Reilly's observations are quite enlightening. This could be eye opening for some. It's sad but true and we need to know this and face the facts. Who else could do it but him?
Book Description
Media powerhouse and expert critic Bill O'Reilly's most comprehensive book yet offers new insight into the current state of life in America. In examining the social, political, and economic aspects of our daily lives, O'Reilly exhausts every bureaucratic system to see what our higher-ups are doing to take care of us, and points out the people and institutions who are failing the average American. At the same time, he makes one of his most profound and daring journeys yet, as he ventures to question how much genuine altruism is left in a society that thrives on a competitive, increasingly self-indulgent ethos. With thoughtfulness and candor, O'Reilly targets our biggest problems, and offers sage advice on how to regain control and trust in these troubled times.

Great common sense gift to give someone who you think ought make some changes. .......2005-07-15
Do you get angst just thinking about your upbringing? Do you get intoxicated regularly? Are any of your friends bad seeds? If you're a parent---do you think of yourself as your child's friend? If you can answer yes to such statements then this is a book for you. Who's looking out for you, thus, is not necessarily for everyone. It's thesis is basically that if you want to live in a nanny state & be coddled, then move to Europe. But, if you live in the USA & like the idea of doing so, then don't expect for many others to be looking out for you. The justice system---O'Reilly states---won't be looking out for you. Neither will lawyers in the USA; nor the Catholic Church; nor the likes of Jesse Jackson types---who only look out for themselves; nor the media; nor schools. Who SHOULD be looking out for you include your parents, as well as--hopefully---some close friends. And as a parent, one should be a Parent, NOT a friend to one's child, because a child has nobody to look after him/her except a parent---and it's not possible to accomplish both in Mr. O'Reilly's opinion. In short, this is a book about disapline: that one must proactively seek one's own motivation; that one ought to seek knowledge/read/and engage one's mind; that one ought to respect one's body (ie., to exercise, control one's weight & forgo smoking); that one ought not to associate with destructive people; that one ought provide a safe & secure refuge for one's children at home (with no abuse, drunkeness, foul language, etc.). If you have children or are contemplating such, Mr. O'Reilly sternly advises that you take the responsibility involved therein extremely seriously---and that you ought be successfully looking out for yourself first before taking this step. His book is a primer on individual self-responsibilty; common sensical at its heart, but also food for thought & worth 6 hours of your time if you are open to---and think you could benefit from---at least a dash of self-improvement. If so, do get this (unabridged) audio version, read by Mr. O'Reilly himself; as his words of advice are more pertinent in his own voice. Cheers!
Common Sense, but Nothing New.......2005-04-12
The stated purpose of this book is to help you figure out who really cares about you and who does not. The author claims that if you do that, your life will be much better and you will probably live longer. The rest of the book is a lot like the statements above. It has some common sense 'wisdom', but nothing that is really new or Earth shattering.
O'Reilly quips that problem solving is what differentiates successful people from those in the penitentiaries. Although that may be one factor, the statement is pretty simplistic and misses several other differences. O'Reilly states that this book will 'give you the edge'. This claim is a bit overstated. I didn't run across anything in this book that is much more than run of the mill advice.
Throughout the book, he does a good job of pointing out many types of people and institutions that can be and often are not 'looking out for you'. These include some parents, certain types of 'friends', the government, the entertainment industry, the media, the Courts, the ACLU, Jessie Jackson, the educational system, and many politicians. There are some quite good things such as some keys that he gives for good parenting, but these are not unique to this book. Another thing that he does hammer home quite well is the suggestion to avoid 'toxic' people whether in romantic relationships or otherwise.
I wasn't disappointed in this book as it was given to me as an audio book that I listened to while on a recent road trip. I might have been a little less pleased had I read the book itself when I could have been reading something more worthwhile or entertaining.
Bill O'Reilly's book stinks.......2005-01-09
The only thing more stupid than Bill O'Reilly are his fans, who can't even spell his name right (as one genius put it, "I love O'Riley"). Even my thirteen-year old mind is more developed than those nitwits. Turning to his crappy book, never mind the moronic arguments, or the horrific implication that O'Reilly's the one who's "looking out for us." My question is, what's with the awful shirt that he's wearing on the cover? You were never a fashion plate, Bill, but my God, what were you thinking? Oh, that's right, you weren't thinking, 'cause you were busy sticking your head up your butt. My apologies.
Well worth the time .......2004-12-23
I love O'REILLY
There are aspects of his personality that I do not like but Bill is a voice in the wilderness of cable news today. He yells and screams as much as the next guy but he actually does research to back his ranting points up. This separates him from everyone else cable news (and radio) weather those people are liberal or conservative. I honestly don't know what side of the aisle Bill sits on.
Overall-I think reading this book is worth your time.
Revealing Common Sense Reflection.......2004-07-24
My husband brought this home, and reading some of it, it reflects some very common sense realities about politics, along with some fairly harsh criticisms of many of the "players" associated with campaigns and elections. A long time Boston resident and close to the action in most cases, the author exhibits an uncommon knowledge of more than a few "events" and cautions the readers to try and look beyond the momentary hype to assess the value and the progress of our American political campaigns to see who really winds up on top, and too often, who really winds up on the bottom, and often screwed. A highly informative read, and one that appeals to logic as the ruler by which American democracy is played out, and its relation to "ordinary citizens."!
