An Hour! Just one short HOUR! What can the Author Dave Lakhani teach me to do in one hour?

Dave teaches you that your whole life, you very being and your futures can all be determined within how you spend a single hour. When was the last time you sat down, emptied you head of daily rubbish and focus on a task for the solid hour? No interruptions, no requests for coffee, no can you do this for me? I read the book and was astounded about just how much time I give up to help others who should know how to help themselves and all at the determent of my own success.

FEARSOME FOCUS: Remember this term as this book will coin the term and i can be sure that other books, companies and tv programs will start to use the phrase. It's an awesome book and my hat goes off to Dave and the work he has produced. Superb!

I have to tell you I own a lot of books. In fact, I have a full bookshelf of books similar to this one but I would trade them all away for this one. If you find yourself short on time and want to maximize your success I say spring for this book. It is a road map to getting more done and having more of what you want. A different "take" on time management .......2006-09-21

Efficiency vs. effectiveness. The authors give a good balancing perspective to the hundreds of conventional "time management" books that purport to give ways to do more in less time. Those books and their techniques have a place and function. This book offers a "macro" approach to time management in tempering the obsession with efficiency through a focus on effectiveness, slowing down the pace and sensing when it is appropriate to throw away the calendar, to-do list and stopwatch. A thought-provoking strategic view of time management for either the business person or one's own personal life.

Strategic Time Management.......2006-07-14

There are tonnes of book on this topic. After reading books such as First Thing First, Getting Things Done, Flow and others, I had been only been partially solving my clutters.

It seems that this book was the final piece that links all the pieces together. However, this effect although work for me, may not work for others as all of us have different experiences that may have different missing pieces to put the whole picture together. For me, somehow it was this book.

Books like "First Thing First" and the like focus on the big helicopter/Hubble-telescope view. I was not fortunate enough to transform the high-level visions, aspirations and life goals that I've derived from putting the things proposed in the books, into concrete results. The difference between reality and the visions were still distant.

Then books that focus more on where the rubber hits the road (e.g. "Getting Things Done") were able to help me to reduce my clutters. Although things were more manageable, I still needed a lot of time doing the nitty-gritty of time management work. I was getting more efficient, but the degree of improvement in my overall effectiveness were not what I desired for.

"Time Mastery" made me to infer that in order move ahead in the midst of abundant things to complete, one needs to think strategically. One needs to think in another plain.

In our ever fast-pace society, there are too many people in the hurry. Yet, success may not pay justice to the effort and sacrifices that they put in in their lives. Ask anyone and he will tell you that there are many intances of CEOs of big companies who are calm and seem to be living in an unhurried world. They brought their companies to the finishing line first. However, they do it in a way akin that beats convention wisdom that is in an unhurried manner.

In my work as a software development consultant, I have been plagued with overtime work. Many things that I had wanted to do have escape my clasps. After thinking strategically in my time management, not only my productivity in my work has increased, but I found that suddenly there is now actually time for me to do things that I had been wanted to do and still have time to spend with my 1-year old son.

I just hope that this book could be the missing piece that gels all the others in your time management the way it did for me.

The times, they are a changin.' Times have always been changing, but they are changing faster now, and the rate of change is increasing. And with the changes has come a requirement for changed leadership skills.

Good Text for beginners.......2003-09-01

If you're looking for something to help you get started in geography, this is the ticket. But if you're attempting to explore more in-depth realms of geography (nature vs nurture) this book will be of little help in getting you on your way. Though it aids in basic understanding of why people in different regions can be different culturally, no one book can adequately encompass the volume of information required to assess such information on a global scale. Feel free to use this book for an elementary college geography class.

I loved it!.......2007-08-26

I am in Kansas and new to bird watching. I set up a Martin Hotel in my back yard, then a bird feeder... All kinds of birds I'd never seen before (Being from Arizona) started showing up. After watching some of their personalities emerge to me, I became more and more curious as to who these beautiful and fascinating creatures were. I ordered this book and got my answers! I love the way it is so easy to use, how it is listed by colors, which makes it exceptionally easy to find the bird you are looking for. If your an an advanced bird watcher, this probably isn't the book for you. But, if your new to this, as I am, this is the perfect starter book.
I love the little notes at the bottom of each page with some of the author's observations of that particular bird. Like the cow bird, now there is a bird who has parenthood down to a science. Lay the eggs in another birds nest (different species) and let them raise it! ;-). Get the book, for the price you can't go wrong and the photos are beautifully done.

Easily divided into colored sections so you have a basic starting place to determine the bird you're trying to identify. Great, clear photos.

A great resource for the amature bird watcher.......2007-03-19

My husband and I have enjoyed using this book as "amature birdwatchers" - the orginization by color and size are great. The author also offers comparisons when you might be stumped. We've since purchased other books by Stan Tekiela such as Trees of Missouri (since there isn't yet a Trees of Kansas available) as well as bird guides, as gifts, for people in other states. It may not be as comprehensive as more experienced birdwatchers would like; however, it is a great resource for those of us peaking out the window at the feeder.

Less comprehensive than I expected.......2006-03-27

This is a tiny book that has less information and fewer birds than I expected. Just looking out at my bird feeder, about half the birds I see can't be identified by looking at this book. I also don't like the classification system...if a bird is half black and half brown, should I look in the 'black' or 'brown' section of the book? I think this is intended to be a 'for dummies' level of book, which is fine because I am a complete novice bird watcher, but I still don't find that it gives me the information I'm looking for. I would like to see more variation within a bird type, rather than only see one photo and try to find a bird in real life that matches it.

Great resource.......2004-06-22

This is a terrific little book with the best photographs of birds I have seen in a field guide. Organized by color of bird, so a novice can figure out where to start to ID what he is looking at. Has basic info on each of the 115 most common Kansas birds. If male and female are different colors, then they are listed seperatly, each with a small inset photograph and page number of the mate.

Kansas knows how to attract birds. Excellent information.......2005-07-07

These are very good books for those who are looking for information on birds in Kansas. Each species has a page or more and includes a map that shows which counties the bird can be found in and which counties she nests in. The only thing keeping this from a 5-star rating is the black & white pictures. Recommended as it has every bird known to be in Kansas, unlike "Birds of Kansas: Field Guide" which is much smaller (pocket size) and has great pictures, but only 100 or so species.
