Book Description
Folk icon Pete Seeger carries on the storytelling tradition by
teaching parents old and new classics to pass on to their children.
For more than fifty years, Pete Seeger has been sharing his songs and stories with the world. Now in this wonderful collection of stories, ideas, and music, he shows how anyone-grandparents, parents, teachers-can start a
storytelling tradition of their own. In Pete Seeger's Storytelling Book, he and Paul Jacobs include Pete's own family stories, tales from America's past,
new versions of familiar legends, and stories based on Pete's favorite songs, such as "Abiyoyo." And, in keeping with the theme that a story never really ends-in fact it gets better each time it is told-the book sends the reader away with wonderful story openers to get started. With suggestions on how to personalize the stories, this is not only a valuable resource for any classroom or household but a precious, intimate gift from one of America's most beloved musicians.
Customer Reviews:
A fun lesson in family bonding.......2005-02-10
Folk Music legend Pete Seeger keeps a proud tradition strong with this guidebook to storytelling, family style.
Seeger takes us back to a time when a tale told around the fire, or in the family room, was a staple of american entertainment, and he sets down some of the tricks of the trade for making story-time magical.
The book presents a series of stories that particularly lend themselves to the oral tradition, and has a short discussion at the end of each, most of which contain tips about how to make the storytelling experience better. Throughout, we are reminded that the teller of a story takes ownership of that story, and can tinker with it as he or she sees fit.
I found the stories themselves to be hit or miss, but they were generally of a high quality, including some real gems. Seeger begins with a selection of tales told to him by his father, and he ends with a handful of stories that he has invented himself. These two sections are particularly imaginative, and remind us all that we can pass on stories from generation to generation without money or interference from the outside world.
If you have children and are open to the idea of reading them to sleep at night, this is a must-read. By learning how to tell a story more flexibly, you can turn that quality time into something even more special.
GOD BLESS PETE SEEGER.......2002-01-03
The first time I came across Pete Seeger was at a peace in at Flushing Meadow Park. Here I am thirty years later sharing Pete Seeger story with my children. There are not many artist I can say that about. Some thing about Pete makes me feel good about life. Get his CD's and this book and share them with your family. Your world will be a richer place.
Truly wonderful contribution.......2000-10-04
Another truly wonderful contribution from our old companion on the trail, Pete Seeger. Thank you, Pete!
Hands down my son's favorite book ever.......2000-09-13
The storytelling tips and lead ins are interesting and quite charming. The best thing about this book, however, is the great stories.
Every evening my son walks out of his room with the book hidden behind his back and a big grin on his face. He holds it up in front of me and asks "ready?" We absolutely LOVE this book!
Back to Basics.......2000-09-01
Pete Seeger's Storytelling Book by Pete Seeger and Paul DuBois Jacobs reminds us of the importance in telling stories to our children. With all the different parenting books around, this book is a wonderful reminder that what really matters in a child's life is time spent with an adult and connecting to them through words, ideas and history. The stories are warm, clever, funny and easily retold with our own words. I was inspired to start telling original and some not so orginal stories to my children. Hands down, they want "mommy stories" everynight instead of "book stories". Pete Seeger's Storytelling Book will be given at all my family and friend's holiday celebrations this year. What a great way to celebrate the real millenium; with a tribute to the past. This book is a must buy for parents, grandparents, anyone who loves and spends time with children.

Customer Reviews:
Not as Good as CCS.......2007-02-27
Tokyo Mew Mew stars the eccentric teen, Ichigo (Means Strawberry in Japanese) Momomiya and how she was apart of an accident that allowed her DNA to be mixed with that of an endangered Wild Cat from Japan.
She is then forced to become Mew Mew, and fight against an alien invasion taking over animals and turning them into vicious beats to defeat the human race. As well as finding the other 4 girls that were in the accident with her.
The two she gathers for her team are the Lorikeet, Mint who doesn't fancy Ichigo's personality and fights with her, and the second is Lettuce, the Porpoise, who is a timid girl who only wants to make friends and is bullied a lot.
The two other girls aren't shown coming into the Mew Mew crew just yet and will be next volume.
The art is cute and I really don't think the story is `uber cute' like Cardcaptor Sakura but it is a nice Manga series so far. If you want something girly, I think picking up this one would be a goer.
One of the best manga!.......2007-02-25
I am new to manga and this is my first one. It's great! The cover and the title look like the series is for babies but in reality it's for people 11 and up*.
Plot: One day 11-year-old Ichigo, the main character, is at the museum with her crush when her DNA is merged with an extinct cat's. Four other girls are, too, and now Ichigo needs to find them. A gigantic rat attacks her and her crush a day later and her crush passes out. She falls from a tree and into the arms of another boy who tells her she needs to attack it back and that she has special powers. I'll stop telling the rest so you won't know the ending! ;)
Overall: Mia Ikumi and Reiko Yoshida have created a masterpiece. Just the right amount of cuteness, the right amount of action, and it all balances out to a wonderful book. 10 stars, two thumbs up!!
*Parents take note: When she is merged with the cat they drew her without clothes on. You don't see anything racy or bad, but just wanted to mention this. Also, the character calls a male character a [..] for showing her the mew mew mark, which is very close to her underwear and underneath her skirt.
Saccharine pushed beyond reason.......2006-12-23
If you like magic girl books which are entirely predictable this is the book for you. Girls gets magic powers, girls find something to get stronger, girls save world with the obligatory love interest for the main character despite the fact that she's a child- even a "wedding" at the end of the series. I would recommend this only to readers between the ages of 6-9 and only if they are in that "cute" phase. For everybody else it just ends in diabetes.
The First Manga I Ever Read..........2006-08-06
And by far the very best! 11 year old Ichigo Momomiya is at the museum with her crush. After a rather interesting turn of events, she finds herself injected with the DNA of an endangered Wildcat! (But, she doesn't realize it at the time.) As she it hanging out with her crush, Masaya in the park, a giant rat attacks her and Masaya! At that point, she is rescued by a blonde teen named Ryou Shirogane. He soon explains to her that she must defeat the rat, seeing as she is a superhero now. (At this point, she is about to flip out.) She defeats the rat, and soon, her destiny unfolds.
She is taken to Cafe Mew Mew (rather forcefully, and Ichigo, continuosly throughout the volume, calls him a jerk) and is informed she must find the other Mew Mews.
The art is absolutel beautiful, and the characters are great. beliveable, might I add. The villians in the series are three conspiring alion, Pie, Tart, and Kish. (Kish later develops a crush on Ichigo, BTW) Mint Aizawa and Lettuce Midorikawa are intruduced as well. The remaining two Mews are introduced in Vol. 2.
Ryou Shirogane was also another great character, and in the later volumes his role gets pretty important. Ichigo is my favorite chracter, and she's a girl everyone can relate too. Just your average girl faced with incredible situations, and only with the help of her friends can she pull through. (She happens to be the strongest mew Me wof them all.) All inall, this is a beautiful Manga, and has a wonderful storyline. Believe me, Buy This Manga!!
Tokyo Mew Mew is the BEST manga ever!.......2006-07-06
This is one of my favorite mangas in the whole intire world!!!! Mia Ikumi's art work is so cool and her character designs for the girls( Ichigo, Mint, Lettuce, Pudding, and Zakuro). Also, the story line is great! You can never get bored with this manga!

Book Description
"This is an inspiring story of courage and sacrifice--one hell of an exciting true war story!"
--Kenn Miller
Author of Tiger the Lurp Dog
On 17 June 1970, in Mondol Kiri Province, Cambodia, the five men of Long-Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) Team 5-2 were about to halt for the day. Night was coming, the skies were dark, and so were the men's thoughts--they'd just found freshly dug NVA bunkers inside a scrub-brush tree line and their position was not secure.
As they carefully searched for better night lager, they learned the hard way that they had walked into an ambush kill zone: NVA fire quickly downed two men and wounded two others. In minutes, Team 5-2 had been transformed from the hunters to the hunted. They had no radio comms with their headquarters and had just two rifles and fifteen magazines of ammunition.
Two men were down, but the team was not out. MIA RESCUE is the story of Team 5-2 and the heroic and ultimately successful attempts to rescue them despite extraordinarily bad weather and an angry and aware enemy.
"Seldom can an author stimulate emotions, from the taste of fear to sweaty palms to the feeling of relief when the mission is over, but Jorgenson does and much more. If the reader was never in combat, he will feel like a Nam vet when he finishes this book."
--Jerry Boyle
Author of Apache Sunrise
Customer Reviews:
Great Book.......2005-11-06
I grew up with the leader of the incursion and I don't think any of this has had "literary license". In High School, Dev was a wrestler and fierce competitor. He was consistantly demonstrating his leadership abilities. It was in his blood. His Dad and Brother were leaders as well. This book does him justice. He has been and will be missed by all that knew him.
Kregg does it again.......2005-04-15
I think that this a very god book, a series of short stories about the vietnam war, one or two off them are perhaps " non-confirme-able", but who cares, just as long as it is a good storie.
I very much enjoyed the R-R storie to Thailand; revenge is to be enjoyed cold.
Also the story about marine SGT Henderson, that died and diden't
send chills up and down my spine.
Kregg has a way with frases and words, especialy his funny and self-ironic way of decribing himself and his conversion with all those who contributed stories to his book, he is very much the
Wiseguy he always describes himself as.
I can highly recommend this book to anyone.
Keep up the good work !!
MIA Rescue FANTASTIC.......2003-12-19
This was the 2nd book that I have read written by Mr. Jorgenson. The first was Acceptable loss. One of the best I have ever read. MIA Rescue is just as good but more focused on a particular mission. Mr. Jorgenson's style of writing is very smooth and combines points of view from all soliders involved in this rescue mission. Including his own in a very unique way. From the guys that were wounded, to the troops going in to get them, to the pilots flying through the thick fog, Jorgenson captures the full realm surrounding this very very stressful situation.
I would recommend this book to anyone. Mr. Speilberg or Mr. Stone if you are out there. Please look at this book! This story needs to be told on the big screen!
Kregg, I want my slides back!.......2000-07-11
I would have given this book 5 stars, but Kregg makes me out to be more heroic than I really was. Fact is, I would have gone looking for the team if I had been told to, but I was happier than hell that I wasn't! There was a huge storm in the area that night and I had a really bad feeling about flying around in it trying to make radio contact with the team. Using my simple logic, if they were okay, they would still be okay in the morning when the storm passed. And if they weren't okay, increasing the body count by 5 wan't going to help either. Kregg, if you read this, please contact me.
rayjoy@ipa.net.......2000-06-24
As in all his books Kregg has done a super job on this book. I have read all the books that Kregg has written, and this one was right up there with the rest.

Book Description
Trees are special, being bigger than us both physically and metaphorically. Trees: Woodlands and Western Civilization is an account of our relationship with them. Adam and Eve were expelled from Eden for eating from the Tree of Knowledge and the great tree Yggdrasil was central to Norse mythology. Tacitus, followed by German nationalists and historians of liberty, located freedom in the German forests. Medieval forests were both protected hunting parks and the refuge of Robin Hood. Shakespeare contrasted the simplicity of life in the Forest of Arden with the artificial manners of the court, and indeed poets from Virgil to Hardy have drawn inspiration from trees. While eighteenth-century aristocrats controlled trees in plantations around their houses, Romantics delighted in vast untamed forests, and the American Henry Thoreau withdrew into the woods to reintegrate himself with nature. Throughout history, our views of trees have been affected by the changing use of woodland and the effects of deforestation and urbanisation. How we see trees today will dictate how trees are treated in the future.

Book Description
Bioremediation is a process applied to restore contaminated sites using biological tools. The success or failure of this process usually depends on an understanding of the biotechnological process as
well as the strengths and weaknesses of the ecotoxicological tools used for its evaluation.
This useful book offers a unique treatment of the subject, linking soil ecotoxicity tests, bioremediation and environmental risk assessment. It also, describes the inter-relationships between the laboratory and field ecotoxicologist, the biotechnology consultant and different international environmental regulatory agencies and explains how they seek to achieve a successful evaluation of contaminated site restoration.
