Standard Price Guide to U.S. Scouting Collectibles (Standard.......2003-11-27
What a great resourse book. A must have for the avid collector or the novice. Besides collecting, it is a great companion piece to learn about the Boy Scouts and 20th Century Americana in general. I commend Mr. Cuhaj for all the work and time he put into creating this. I'm so glad some one thought enough of me to make this a perfect gift for the Scouter who has everything.
The Year 2001 U.S. Scout Collectibles Reference Work.......2001-11-01
This is the 2nd, updated edition of the popular volume. Its 400 pages feature more than 750 nice black and white photos and a 16 page full color section. There is adequate text to accompany the photos, and it is fully indexed to aid in item location. All major levels of scouting are featured, along with collectibles, council listings, glossary of terms, memorabilia dealers, collector organizations, museums and reference works. It's an essential guide for scout collectible enthusiasts.
"Standard Price Guide To U. S. Scouting Collectibles" 2nd Ed.......2001-09-10
This is an excellent book for anyone who collects Boy Scouts of America memorabilia such as insignia, pins, books, Order Of The Arrow, just about anything that has been involved in Scouting. It details many items extensively, and provides price ranges based on condition. The first edition did not have an index, and it was rather difficult to find certain items, but Cuhaj corrected that in this second edition. The magnitude of this book is tremendous, providing over 11,000 listings, most with values for buying, selling, or just trading. There are a few pages in color, while the rest is in black and white. I would have preferred all items in color, and would have been willing to pay more for the book. If Scouting memorabilia is your forte, I highly recommend this book with a 5-Star rating.
A Must-Have for Anyone Interested in Scouting Collectibles.......2001-08-09
The first edition was the answer to a new collector's prayers and the release of the greatly expanded second edition was timed perfectly to take me to the next level in this increasingly popular field of collecting. This book brings together a broad range of information that earlier had only been available to collectors willing to seek out a daunting number of specialty publications, usually at considerable cost. I would highly recommend this new edition not only for beginning collectors, but also for the more advanced collector who needs a broad reference to the panoply of Scouting collectibles. Finally, I think most readers will enjoy the author's personal touch, including images from his boyhood Scouting experience. They certainly evoked fond memories of my own early Scouting days.
A few words from the Author.......2001-06-01
Greetings, well, it is back, bigger and with lots more photos. What has become the identification and price guide for scouting collectibles has been doubled in listing size as well as photographs for ease of identification. While weekly auctions may be skewing the price system, it is a great starting point. The Merit Badge section, and the book sections have been completely revised.

Book Description
The architecture of great homes became a fascinating and significant art form in twentieth-century America with such icons of modernism as Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, Philip Johnson's Glass House, and Frank Gehry's personal residence. This lavishly illustrated
volume, the newest title in the Universe architecture series, is a condensed and updated edition of the bestselling book of the same name. Twenty-five of America's finest masterpieces of modern residential architecture are presented with rich color photographs, accompanied by text that explores each house in depth and discusses its place in the progression of American architecture. Compact and very reasonably priced, this book is ideal for students and all enthusiasts of twentieth-century design.
Customer Reviews:
Thirty-three American residential masterpieces.......2000-08-28
This book successfully captures the vast architectural contributions achieved in the Twentieth Century in American residential design by spotlighting 33 masterpieces located across the country.
The book begins with stunning photographs and drawings of remarkable homes built early in the century, including the Greene and Greene Gamble House in Pasadena, Ca., Rudolph Schindler's Lovell Beach House in Newport Beach, Ca., and Richard Neutra's Lovell Heath House in Los Angeles, Ca. Then, homes are featured that embody "the triumph of the modern American house," including Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater in Bear Run, Pa. The final and largest section of the book highlights "blueprints for modern living," such as Philip Johnson's Glass House in New Canaan, Ct., Louis Kahn's Korman House in Fort Washington, Pa., and Frank Gehry's house in Santa Monica, Ca.
The book lets the images of the homes, exterior and interior, speak for themselves through extra-large photographs. The accompanying commentary focuses well on the architects' contributions to architecture.
I very highly recommend this book. It is the best compilation of American residential masterpieces of the Twentieth Century that I've seen, and even more importantly, the authors have put the differing styles in perspective with the evolution of American architecture.

Great Help For Children.......2007-09-19
This s is a great tool for children learning to read.
I remember as a child being able to read about Curious George and it really helped me start learning English.
I highly recommend this classic line of children's books.
My toddler loves George!.......2007-02-06
My daughter is in love with Curious George. Can't get enough. From the books, to the stuffed animals to the animated series on PBS.
Her curiousity actually started with the movie, which was well done (although I can't believe they gave the man with the yellow hat a name!). We bought her her first set of board books. She loved those. The natural progression was to get her this set of books. She loves these as well. She can't read yet, but we read to her from these books and we ask her to "pretend" read her books: she bursts into gibberish as she "reads".
If your kid is into George and is young, this set as well as the other board book set will be great.
Great First Books.......2005-02-19
I bought this for my niece as a gift. She loves it. The illustration are really good she likes to look at the pictures even when someone isnt reading it to her (she cant read yet) this is perfect if you want to read some fun and interesting stories for a baby. If you are looking for something for older kids you should probably just get the regular curious george books. These are made specifically for very young children, but they are excellent. I was very pleased with my purchase.

"Good night, Gorilla," says the weary watchman as he walks by the gorilla cage on his nightly rounds at the zoo. The gorilla answers by quietly pickpocketing the guard's keys, stealthily trailing him, and unlocking the cages of every animal the oblivious fellow bids goodnight to. Looking much like an exhausted father, the uniformed guard traipses home toward his cottage, while the lonely zoo animals softly parade behind him. The animals manage to slip into his bedroom and nestle unnoticed near his sleepy wife--until the bold little gorilla goes so far as to snuggle up beside her as she turns out the light. Author and illustrator Peggy Rathmann (creator of the Caldecott-winning Officer Buckle and Gloria) relies more on the nuances of her jewel-toned pictures than on words to pace this giggly bedtime story, making it perfect for observant preschoolers. In one inky-black spread, Rathmann lets only the shocked, wide-open eyes of the guard's wife tell us that the gorilla has been detected! Tiny details such as the faithful, banana-toting mouse and sky-bound pink balloon that appear in each picture keep this book fresh, magical, and fun--even after countless bedtime readings. (Baby to preschool) --Gail Hudson
Book Description
Good Night, Gorilla won the 1994 Cuffie for "Most Likely to Succeed in Years Ahead" and has more than lived up to that prediction, becoming a modern classic that is a must in every child's library.
This perfect package will give kids the opportunity to cuddle up with an adorable plush gorilla while they are enjoying his secret bedtime antics.

Beautifully illustrated..........2007-10-12
This is a great board-book for kids between 1 and 5. The illustrations are beautiful, and get my kids to "think" about all that they can see. This book is one of my daughter's favorites - she'd crack up with laughter when the lights went out and the animals said goodnight. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
Don't get the Picture Puffin Books (Sagebrush) edition.......2007-09-29
This is a great story book. The 5 stars is for that.
I bought three editions for different kids: Good Night, Gorilla (Picture Puffin Books (Sagebrush)), Good Night, Gorilla, and Good Night, Gorilla (oversized board book). The Puffin edition is bound in a way that makes it difficult to open flat. The paper is thinner than most good hardcover children's books. The two board book editions are very nice. You also might want to try the regular hardcover edition.
A Must For Your Child's Library.......2007-09-17
Goodnight, Gorilla is a delightful book, filled with fun, secrets and anticipation. We started reading it at age 2 and my now 6 year old son still enjoys it! We especially love the dark page with eyes....you will too! It is the perfect companion to '10 Minutes Till Bedtime', also by Peggy Rathmann, because this cast of characters appear in that book as next door neighbors! Together they make a perfect child/baby gift. Thanks Peggy Rathmann!
My Daughter's (and Our) Favorite.......2007-07-23
We received this book as a gift after our daughter's birth, and now that she's ten months old, it's her absolute favorite. She actually goes to her book basket, digs through the all of the books to find this one, and then brings it to us to read to her. The best part is that because the narrative is told through the pictures instead of through words, it's a different book when I read it to her than when her father, grandmother, etc. does. I'm sure that as she gets older, we'll be able to modify our reading of Good Night, Gorilla to suit her age, pointing out different things about the story than interest her now. This book is destined to be a classic!
GREAT BOOK.......2007-07-21
My 2 and 3 y/o daughters LOVE this book. It's a fun book and teaching about many animals and the zoo. It's a wonderful gift for your child or a gift to another child. Highly recommend it.

Neat.......2004-03-05
A monkey finds a box and looks inside it. Inside the box, he sees a small hole, and crawls inside it. There, he finds a room where everything is the same color, except for a small spot with a new color. The monkey crawls repeatedly from spot to world, from world to spot, changing the colors of his surroundings as he goes. The story is fun, rhyming, and not scary. It's a great way to practice colors. The book has about 100 words.
A Wonderful Reading Experience !.......2002-11-24
This book totally excited my 5 year old grandson. He could not get enough of me reading it to him. The illustrations are colorful and the peepholes leave just enough suspense for the child to anticipate what color and text may come next. A wonderful reading experience for both grandson and grandpa.
The Color Box.......2000-04-28
As a Kindergarten teacher, I read The Color Box with my students every fall. The children love the rhythym and rhyme within the text. The illustrations are appealing to all 4-6 year-olds. You will find older children reading along with you. The "peekholes" grab the children's attention and keep them hooked. This story is a wonderful read-aloud and belongs in every early childhood classroom.

A real page turner !.......2000-05-17
The monkey box is probably the sweetest true love story i have read... made all the more sweet by the fact that it is a REAL story! The history, the love and the passion of the characters, the fear of war, the rigidness of the social customs all interplay into a wonderful story I would love to see made into a movie! Mr. Rodriquez brings his family back to life for us; we get to know their very thoughts and dreams; their hopes, their passions , their sorrows.... we feel all of their emotions as if they were were living and breathing here today.
THIS BOOK'S A WINNER.......2000-02-09
The Monkey Box is an incredibly intense story that runs the full gamut of emotions: love and war, struggles between the classes, greed, deceit, hardship, romance, etc.. What's even more incredible, it's a true story. The story is so riveting, I could not put it down. I read for hours on end. GREAT BOOK!
