Nearly useless price guidance.......2007-07-04
The new edition of this catalogue is an extremely disappointing effort in terms of keeping up to date with price developments. A majority of the countries covered in this update have not been reviewed at all, resulting in a very misleading guide to collectors. If you have the previous edition, there is little incentive for you to buy this new edition. Editors should really put much much more effort in updating prices, or simply stop printing updates of the catalogue altogether. Changing the cover picture does not justify a new edition.
A must for banknote collectors.......2007-04-10
An excellent catalogue. The only disturbing problem is that there are several mismatchs between pictures and descriptions. Unfortunately more frequent than in earlier issues.
The best catalog for paper money.......2007-02-21
This catalog is the most useful and professional catalog for worldwide
paper money. As a serious collector you can not be without this catalog.
Amazing guide not book.......2001-07-29
this is a very helpful and amazing book for any money collector, and I really happy with that book
A complete guide(BUT Not Attractive) , wrong picture of note.......2001-06-19
here some comments
1) spelling mistake found in the book(e.g. Sweeden)
2) paste the wrong paper note of picture (page779, 1961 issue, 10 dollars) this SHOULDN'T BE the NOTE...
my opinion of this book is: NOT PROFESSIONAL enough to handle such a silly mistake...

banknote book.......2007-01-10
Brilliant, could not do without it- the best on the market without a doubt.
WPC Catalog Review.......2005-10-04
This book is the third volume in a line series dedicated to paper money collecting. This one particularly concentrates on the banknotes issued by central banks all over the World from 1961 onwards. The book is "The reference" used by all collectors and dealers alike. Thus, it is a must in order to keep uptodate with market prices and with the current issues. Unfortunately, it has mistakes and sometimes it lacks continuity with its counterpart (vol. 2) which is not issued annualy like this one. Nevertheless, if you are involved in paper money collecting, owning this book is imperative in order to be able to refer properly to any moder banknote.
The book can be bought from many sources, starting with its Publisher (Krause), however, my advice is to get it from Amazon.com, since its discunts are unbeatable.
WPM, Modern Issues, 1961-Date, 11th Ed........2005-07-30
As always, the work and research to get the latest information available to the collector is presented to us in the catalog as best as possible. I would like to see a section that list countries whose names have changed. While the catalog is a tremedous effort to 'keep current' with the many changes going on while it is in the making, I long for the day when the CD comes out and changes are added electronically. Stamp collectors now have this and a virtual stamp collection. Thanks to all that work to get the latest information for a great hobby!
World Paper Money 11th ed. Modern Issues.......2005-07-26
Most useful - but - there seem to be several errors in this catalogue. One of the most glaring is the complete omission of SOMALIA, despite the index refering the reader to page 772. These are, in fact, the entries for SOMALILAND from 1994. All entries for SOMALIA from 1962 to 1990 have disappeared.
Sorry Mr. Pick, now it's Krause!.......2005-07-24
I would say, - there is no other, better book, so we have to use this one. I have looked through some pages of it and I already found quite a few blunders. First of all there are quite a few misleading price valuations, I would even say many price manipulations. I haven't gone through every single page of it yet, but a quick look at the book reveals the following:
- Overall image quality got worse (much worse) in this year 2005 edition. Some photos have some white spots and cuts.
- Signature tables have disappeared in quite a few country listings. Instead of signature tables Krause website is advertised all across the pages. Question: why remove what already has been added over years?
- Most of the country letter code explanations and country names are gone from West African States listings.
- Signatures are numbered but not always displayed in signature tables.
- Catalogue numbers are changed and moved around to frequently confusing the collectors and especially addong tons of extra work for dealers.
- Many banknotes are valued way below market value. Some are valued below anytime exchange rate. Example: Latvian 100 Latu exchange rate always was over $160 but Krause values it in Uncirculated condition at $150.
- No ERRATA is being printed. Any self-respecting publisher prints errata pages and puts them in a book, or even sends Errata (corrections) pages to all their customers and book owners. The book was published carelessly. Some colourful images (not so important to a professional) were added, but what's most important is the text info and price valuations. This book is important to a beginner and as well to a professional. We still have to use it, cause there is no other catalogue for All World's Paper Money, but making so many errors and blunders shows that the publisher of this book does not care much about what the reader gets from it.
Good-bye Pick... hello Krause.

Getting Better, But Not There Yet.......2007-08-13
Having been a major collector of banknotes for 40+ years, I find the SCWPM series of banknote catalogs invaluable, but far from complete or accurate. This volume has improved graphics and updated pricing compared to the previous edition. The numbering system is chaotic, pictures misplaced, signature charts missing or incomplete, latest issues missing, etc. Mr. Cuhaj needs some help.
Arghans.......2007-07-19
I was very disappointed by the latest issue of the 'modern issues' catalogue. There are at least two instances of incorrect page-headings, which are confusing, and one group of notes missed out completely - which suggests carelessness in editing the book. However my main disappointment is the number of issues which were new in 2005 or the first half of 2006 which have not been included - which, for a book dated and published in 2007 just is not good enough. If Krause Publications are going to make an annual out of the modern issues catalogue, then they must make the cut-off date for the inclusion of new issues much closer to the publication date. Why could they not put in the front a prominent note saying something like 'including all new issues up to July 2006'?
I feel a bit cheated by Krause.
Keith Potter
Another poor attempt.......2007-06-28
Well yet another year passes and Krause gives us another inferior catalog. Inaccurate prices, incorrect pictures, notes two and three years old still not in the catlog. Since this is the only real catalog we can use for our hobby it has to do but i think that as hobbyists we need to let Krause know they need to take this book more serious and put a little more time, effort and professionalism into it. I know in years past I as well as many other hobbyists have sent Krause email after email with new pictures, errors in the catalog only to see the next catalog with out the changes. So it seems to me they do not take the us or our hobby very serious. It would be very nice to see another publisher get into the race and perhaps come out with the type of catalog we hobbyists deserve.
Best of the best ...........2007-06-27
This catalog is a must for all banknote collectors, even for small collectors. It contains accurate information, is very comprehensive and is easy to use.
Simply the best of the best.

Customer Reviews:
A great source of information.......2007-03-08
This book is invaluable source of information for both collectors as well as dealers of modern banknotes. The major flaw, however, is the unrealistic UNC catalog values for most banknotes. The majority are exaggerated and no one can sell at even 50% of such CVs. However, the book stands as a unique source and a vault of invaluable information about all modern banknotes.
Best of the 3 Pick Books but still not great.......2006-11-02
The value of this book is going to depend on what you collect - if you collect China, Mexico, Russia, Latin America, and certain British Commonwealth - then yes, this book is very good and very valuable - WHERE IS ISRAEL? Are you trying to tell me there are no specialized issues for Israel/Palestine - Theres lots of people who can help the editor - myself included. The standard Pick Book doesn' list any of the military issues, all standard issues, and none of the specialized issues, I've even emailed scans of notes to the editors - otherpeople have too. Richard Gatto, Bill Rosenblum, the Israel coin and currency c/ollectors group, the AINA, the INS all people who can help the editors, who don't read Hebrew - well sorry we know the notes trust us. We know what they look like - that is only one of many areas totally uncovered and what about Russia - you have 25000 uncataloged notes to go - why did you quit? work getting a little hard - want to do nothing and get an easy buck? that's what this is about - did yall even try to find the market values on these notes? maybe for some markets, I see htat - not every market. The price a note goes for at auction and what a dealer says a note is worth and gives it to Krause can be different. There are too many price differences, i saw notes listed for $125 from Costa Rica in this NEW BOOK sell for $1600 at auction, so explain to me the $125? is that because someone was hoping to buy one at that price? isn't there a problem here, yall think I'm crazy - I've heard this more than dozens of times. Why not be UNBIASED, report the true values, be accurate? Isn't that what a price book is supposed to be? Overall I like the book - but I'm pretty angry about how the editors dealt with me and other collectors about the Israel section they already had all the information and chose not to include it. They had some of it in the book before but took it out, why? The 3rd edition of Pick 2 has many notes currently not included, why's that? I know they work hard. It's either a great book or a lousy book depending on what you collect. Some things have no coverage at all. Maybe you need a Middle East specialist, these notes are non-existant in this book Did yall even ask Armen what he thought? I think you have too narrow of a group of people who give input into these books. Nobody asked me anything, and I know more about Isreal Paper money than a lot of people, but there are people who know more than me. Even the pre-established books weren't consulted. Seems like the editors think they are above everyone else or just plain working too hard, ok admit you can't do the job. Don't say this is everything when it isn't
A book for Professional Numismatist.......2001-11-25

Book Description
Are you crazy about crazyquilts? Does the beauty of intricately embellished Victorian piecework make your heart race? If so, you will be positively amazed at this comprehensive collection of 'Stitcheries' commonly found embroidered on antique crazyquilts. In addition to the antique styles, you will also find many examples of stitches by Carole Samples, collector and lover of all things 'crazy'. The author presents 50 basic stitches and so many variations of those stitches that you may never run out of ideas and designs to try on your own projects. This book takes you on a journey from simple straight stitches and blanket stitches to chevrons and herringbones. The 'patch picture' designs feature floral bouquets, insects, animals, and much, much more. The old-fashioned script alphabet provides just the right touch for personalizing all your own creations. Whether you are an avid collector of crazyquilts or are just beginning to study and admire them, this book belongs on your shelf. You are sure to acquire a renewed appreciation for antique crazyquilts and their makers. AUTHORBIO: Nebraska-born crazyquilt artist Carole Samples taught herself to sew on her grandmother's 1891 treadle machine when she was 12 years old. Her partnership with that tempermental relic resulted in a closet full of cotton dresses and nylon-net petticoats, and fostered an ever-growing appreciation of - and affection for - beautiful textiles. REVIEW: Packs in a treasury of stitches sure to delight those already interested in producing crazy quilts. -The Bookwatch
Customer Reviews:
IF YOU ARE A BEGINNER, PASS IT BY, CHECK IT OUT AT THE LIBRARY FIRST!.......2006-11-10
This is more of a reference book Mostly with drawings on brown paper making the stitches hard to see and no actuall instructions to guide you if you have never done them before. There are Many more books better for first timers Such as "The Magic of Crazy Quilting" by J Marsha Michler. It has nice black & white Drawings and color photos showing the stitches. THEN maybe this book will be helpfull...if you can get past the brown colored paper and black drawings. CHECK THIS ONE OUT OF THE LIBRARY FIRST! There is a book called "The Embroidery Stitch Bible" by Betty Barnden. It is a Nice 250 page Full Color Spirial Bound Book Just Loaded With Stitches For All Types Of Projects. A worthwhile investment if you do other things besides just quilting.
A must have book.......2006-06-26
This book is one of the best on the market for Crazy Quilt stitches. It shows not only the traditional stitches but how to combine different stitches to come up with a new design. It is outstanding, I can't say enough praise about it. It is a must have if you crazy quilt.
Amazing collection of beautiful stitches.......2004-10-16
I love this book. I took out about 10 books from the library and settled on (and bought) this one because the collection is so complete (it's over the top actually). Granted, there are not detailed instructions for each stitch (if there were, it'd have to limit the number of stitches). Also, it is easy to lose yourself in the book -- definitely mark a stitch once you've found it because finding a particular stitch again is challenging. There are so many gorgeous stitches that I did not see anywhere else. If you go through the trouble of making a crazy quilt, you'll want the unique stitches in here.
Singular reference for all types of embroidery.......2004-01-08
Any needleworker - making a crazy quilt or not - will be amazed at this wonderful book. Ms. Samples has clearly invested a lot of time into her research and has presented us with not only solid historical documentation but also with a platform for delving off into new uses and combinations for these glorious stitches. As for the complaints that the book has no specific stitching instructions, that is true, but a beginner embroiderer with a stitch encyclopedia should have little trouble since the stitches are grouped and labelled by their most prominent basic stitch, i.e., "blanket stitch," "feathered chain," etc. The only suggestion for improvement I have is that the text portions be printed in a different font.
I highly recommend this book to any needle artist. Just have your needle and floss nearby once you start looking at it!
Great ideas for experienced stitchers.......2003-01-03
I agree with the last review that said you really need to be experienced in a few of the stitches, but once you have mastered the main stitches you can go anywhere with this book. Maybe a review of how to do the basic stitches would help those who are inexperienced, but I found that everything shown was simple once you broke it down into those individual basic stitches. I'd encourage anyone to buy a basic book first and learn before venturing into this one, but it is fantastic for those of us who need ideas and designs for our simple or ornate crazy quilt tops. Thank you Carole Samples!

My Texas Garden: A Gardener's Journal (My Gardener's Journal).......2007-01-17
I have used this journal for five years. It is so helpful to be able to review past successes and failures. It is divided into 4 weeks per month so each week actually is a bit longer than 7 days. The book includes information on plants, climate and has helpful hints as you move through the year. It is well worth the search to get one of these out of print journals.

A Great Tool for Affirming Yourself.......2000-03-26
Each page of this book contains an affirmation, along with space to write a few lines, and record the day, date and time of your entry. You can either use the space to write your thoughts on the affirmation itself, or use it to jot a few lines about anything on your mind.
The affirmations themselves are inspiring and thought-provoking. Physically, the book is small enough to fit easily into a large purse or knapsack, and its hard cover is beautifully decorated. The spiral binding also makes it easy to write in for lefties. The only drawback that I can see is that the space allowed for filling in the day, date and time is a bit small for those of us with larger handwriting.
If you're working with affirmations and self-esteem issues, this is a great tool.
