Outstanding Predator Hunting Book.......2007-05-17
I recently purchased and read five predator/varmint hunting books and this was the best. Excellent source of predator hunting do's and don'ts, good mix of text and pictures, and some really good personal experiences in hunting predators. I highly recommend this book to beginners as well as seasoned hunters who think they know it all!!
Lots of useful information.......2007-01-22
I recently purchased 3 different books on predator hunting and tis was one of them. As an avid hunter looking to hone my skills and become proficient in calling I was looking for the sort of details this book offered. It gets into detail on calling, sets, equipment and all the other aspects of predator hunting. I would highly reccommend.
By a hunter for hunters.......2006-12-18
This book really focuses on coyotes. That's fine because coyotes can be perforated all year around. Other predators are also covered, but a few pages of this book and you're loading the truck for coyote.
There are definitely a lot of hunting stories. But they are good and instructive stories. "We did this and that happened" or "I saw one do this". Trying to figure out what happened seems to be how most hunts end. Even the successful ones. We tell lots of stories and answer a lot of questions. The author answers the questions he thinks we would have asked. It's either that or make all the mistakes and figure everything out ourselves.
There are the usual bits about gear, but you figure out pretty quick that all you really need is a gun, camo, call, and time in the field.
Advanced course in hunting predators.......2005-05-03
I have been predator hunting for a couple of decades and found this book to be an advance course for seasoned hunters, and a giant leap ahead for beginners. Bynum gives sage advice in a fun, easy to read style. I wish I had this book when I first started hunting predators. A great buy on the subject.
Very Disappointed.......2004-12-25
This book is far from "A Complete Guide". It is mostly a collection of the author's hunting stories. I found the book lacking in the "chapters on selecting the right game calls and learning how and when to use them.." described on the book's back cover. I expected some sample sequences, and some explination of what types of calls are useful when. Tricks for bringing in predators the "last few critical yards" are totaly absent from the book. The author hardly even touches on techinques like the lip squeek, or any other method to close the gap. Questions like how to stop a charging coyote for a shot without spooking him off are left unanswered. The author even fails to mention the coyote's habit of circling downwind. There is one illistration showing a stand set up over a bait pile, but no discussion on the many factors to consider when setting up a calling stand. The only advice given is on the issue of camoflague and concealment.
Overall, I feel that the majority of the tips given in the book are things that the average novice hunter would know intuitivly. I gained nothing but some a few chuckles from reading this book.
Product Description
The original muscle car, the Royal Bobcat GTO was the baby of a burgeoning Detroit subculture, one not sanctioned by the big automakers of the early 1960s. In a postWorld War II America hungry for chrome, flash and speed, Royal Pontiac in Royal Oak, Michigan, modified and sold its souped-up versions of GTOs to customers, and in the process created a demand for custom street racers in America. Founded by Ace Wilson, the Royal name became synonymous with speed. This book outlines the history of the Royal Bobcat GTO, from the peopleincluding Milt Schornack, the mechanic who raced for Royal Pontiac and was responsible for the custom Bobcatsto the fabled midnight test runs on northern Detroits famous Woodward Avenue. Fourteen chapters, illustrated with 25 photographs of vintage GTOs, the infamous Car & Driver road test photos against a Ferrari GTO, and more, chronicle the history of a car that changed the focus of the Detroit auto industry for the next decade. Former editor-in-chief of Hot Rod Magazine Ro McGonegal contributes a foreword.

Good book.......2006-02-26
I rec'd this book as a gift and learned a great deal about the history of this car. The authors' passion for the subject matter is apparent and infectious! I especially enjoyed the sidebars with personal insights into the politics surrounding the vehicles background.
Overall, an enjoyable read. I recommend it.
Very informative.......2006-02-25
I have owned and restored GTO's before they became popular. Having heard all the 'other' hype from magazines and having read 'Glory Days', I have always felt there was another side of the story. This book answers a lot of those questions, and makes a lot of sense. A great read, I could not put it down. The first reviewer must have some kind of personal vendetta against either the writter or the subject of the book, or maybe both to slander the book such in his review! A must read for any 60's musclecar enthusiast!
Very Enjoyable Book!.......2006-02-25
I loved this book so much that I couldn't put it down!
Great job, MacDonald and Schnornack!
Great Book!!!.......2006-02-25
As a woman, I can truly say that I loved this book. Even though I love cars, a lot of books on the subject bore me to death, but this was an enjoyable read from start to finish.
There were so many great pictures in the book! I loved the one of the GTO featured in "My Three Sons"! The pictures alone are worth the price of the book.
However, the real meat is the story told by Milt Schornack and Keith J. MacDonald. They take you back in time to the beginning of the GTO and you really feel like you are there. In addition, some very interesting facts came out in the book that I wasn't even aware of.
If you are even the least bit curious about the early days of the GTO or if you love classic cars and are looking for a great read, I highly recommend that you buy this book.
Kudos to the author, MacDonald and Schornack!
Will the Real Mr. Royal Pontiac Stand Up.......2006-02-25
I have read Milt's book as coauthored by Mr. MacDonald from cover to cover and I must say I was impressed. I have met both Milt and Jim Wangers at car shows in the past. Mr. Wangers gives the impression that he was the inventor of the GTO and all the Royal Pontiac ideas were his alone. The real Pontiac afficionadoes know the truth. The book was awesome and really caught the spirit of the Great GTO. I read a review by some guy know as the Car Geek and I must say he certainly wasn't reading the same book I did. The old pictures which I had never seen before were great. As an owner of a 66 GTO, I must say this book clearly chronicals the complete and honest story of Royal Pontiac and its additions to the greatest car ever built.

Book Description
Bobcat: Master of Survival tells the story of the most adaptable and resilient wild feline in the world. While half the wild cat species worldwide are in danger, the bobcat is thriving, even expanding its range in North America. Why are bobcats flourishing when so many other wild felines are advancing towards extinction? The book explains how scientists apply the latest in wildlife research technology to probe this diminutive predator's habits and behavior. The reader is invited inside the bobcat's world to see how they hunt, kill prey, raise their young, coexist with humans, and deftly navigate the endless obstacles to survival. The bobcat is both the most studied and the most exploited wild feline in the world. Millions have been killed for the fur trade. They were the focus of major controversy in the 1970s that transformed international conservation of wild felines. The book discusses how economics and politics play a far greater role in bobcat management and conservation than does science. Bobcat/I is the most comprehensive and up-to-date book on the natural history and management of bobcats to appear in 40 years.

Crepuscular neighbors.......2007-01-02
From the vivid introduction through to the 34-page bibliography, this is a well-constructed story about our crepuscular neighbors the bobcat and Canada lynx. Hansen brings years of field experience, moral sense, and an academic knowledge of bobcats. He outlines research needs and awakens a sense of the increasing dangers to these creatures.
Based on observations by others, tracks in the snow, and scat in the trail, I've been aware that wildcats were nearby. This book, with fine photographs, makes them substantial.

Learning to roll some great j's.......2005-01-11
This book is great. The graphics are very cool. The joints that are rolled in this book are insane. If you learn how to roll like the book your friends will be amazed. It's fun and cool all in on little handy book.
Book Description
Superb pictorial of big cats.
Big cats are efficient predators that once roamed from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and the Arctic to the Gulf of Mexico. Today, they are confined to scattered, remote habitats.
Forest Cats of North America is an intensive look at panthers, cougars, lynxes and bobcats, describing each species in detail. Range maps identify where the cats live and fact files feature scientific and common names, number of subspecies, physical traits, diet, life span and more. Spectacular color photographs capture these cats as they stalk, hunt and raise their young.
The fascinating evolution of big cats is covered including the differences between North American and African cats and how the cougar may well be the ancestor of the cheetah.
Forest Cats of North America is a lively, informative introduction to the continent's most elusive predators.

The Best of Lynx/Bobcat Information.......2006-02-26
We have all enjoyed the fact based information along with the wonderful picutres of Bobcats and Lynx Cats. We were pleased to find the depth of the information provided. This is a wonderful reference for anyone with an interest in these incredible cats.
Good Resource Book.......2000-11-02
This is a good book to learn about behaviors of the 3 Northern cats. Expecially good for those of us who own, and are interested in learning about the behavior, traits and differences between the species. Of course in tame bobcats, the authors comments about being like a big domestic? housecat are very true. Who can explain "domestic" in any cat species anyway? There are in my opinion only 2 types of cats: feral (wild NO human contact) and Tame: (raised by humans from birth)
A great book on some hard to find species.......1999-12-02
This book really is wonderful. My interests lie mainly in bobcats, and it is rather difficult to find good sources on these felines. This book is one of the few good bobcat books I have found, giving equal attention to bobcats, lynxes, and cougars. It combines beautiful, vibrant photos with informative, clear text. Color range maps and "basics" boxes appear for each species, and the book even contains several American Indian legends, trivia (such as "How not to become a cougar victim,") and quotes concerning these cats. I am very pleased with this book, and highly recommend it to any lover of American wildcats.

Bobcat Education.......2000-06-30
Bobcats (Wildcats of North America) gives a wonderful and easy to understand view of the wildcat living within North America. For outdoor activity educators this book would be appropriate in giving an overview of the life of a creature we must learn to co-exist with in North America. The book is written in a way that is easy to understand for young people and is filled with beautiful photographs of the Bobcat's life. Aspects of mating, raising young, and hunting styles are all provided for the reader's growing education. Included in the book is a glossary for further reference as the young reader pursues his or her interest in wildlife. At the end of the book is some good advice for young people about appreciating beauty of creatures without trying to touch them or pet them , which as a child educator I greatly appreciate! The multi faceted life of the Bobcat is described in a scientific and interesting way to give a complete picture of the life of this powerful cat. The illustrated map showing habitats of the Bobcat are great for backing up the words printed within the text. Jalma Barrett describes the Bobcat in a factual and interesting way that when combined with the beautiful photographs and photo descriptions is able to hold the child's attention. I think this book is perfect for children and young children that camp, hike, perform outdoor activities, and also have an interest in wildlife. One last note about the author is she subtly discusses the effect on the Bobcat by human's misunderstanding of the beautiful creature.

NOT WHAT IT SEEMS TO BE!!.......2007-02-06
I thought that this book was actually going to give me options on ow to manage my high risk pregnancy and what to do or avoid in order to stay pregnant, but it did NOT!! It's more of a dictionary. It explains some things and what the meaning of medical terms are but it doesn't give you any advice whatsoever. It doesn't tell you anythhing that your doctor can't tell you. I wouldn't recomment it at all.
Very Refreshing.......2002-07-01
It was a great book with lots and lots of information. I have lost two sons to still birth and this book gave me hopes and options and let me be in the drivers seat. It gave me knowledge so I won't have to depend on the doctor to give me all the information I need and desire. I would recommend this book to anyone who has experienced a loss and needs a little more answers than what was provided.
