Customer Reviews:
Great Pictures.......2003-03-27
The book has no index and the table of contents is only pattern names and not manufacturers. Although this book has great pictures, unless you specifically know what you are looking for; it is difficult to find things in it.
Great resource.......2002-03-02
Very pleased with this book. Many large, clear color photographs. Great variety of china and glassware included.
Gene Florence/glassware 40's 50's & 60's.......2001-09-24
The information in the book is interesting but not specific enough. Pages of pictures but do not name the pieces and sometimes it is difficult to know which piece is which. Also, can't really see the patterns very well; maybe so he can sell the book that just has patterns.
Another Winner.......2001-08-18
Gene Florence is the premier expert on vintage glassware. He does the collectibles industry a great service by having clear pictures of glassware that's often very difficult to photograph. Each edition differs enough in content to warrant a second look. He tries to add a few new patterns every time. For those he repeats, he adds different pieces and new finds. The nest part is that he has a lot of knowledge about the glassware companies and reproductions that he shares with the readers.
Book Description
Gene and Cathy Florence, the foremost authorities on glassware, have produced a revamped edition of Collectible Glassware from the 40s, 50s, and 60s. Covering collectible glassware made after the Depression era, this is the only book available that deals exclusively with the handmade and mass-produced glassware from this period. It is completely updated, featuring many original company catalog pages and eight new patternsmaking a total of 128 patterns from Anniversary to Yorktown, with many of the most popular Fire-King patterns in between. Each pattern is alphabetically listed, all known pieces in each pattern are described and priced, and 370 gorgeous color photographs showcase both common and very rare pieces. In addition, for the first time, all the pieces in the photographs are identified and cross-referenced with their listings. The Florences descriptive text offers insight into and evaluations of each patterns history, popularity, and value on todays exciting collectibles market.
Customer Reviews:
A must-have guide for collectors and sellers alike........2003-11-16
This is another important addition to my library of collectible, kitchenware and depression glass books.
More than 40 new patterns are included and pricing and many pictures have been updated. I like the alphabetical listing because it is easy to find the patterns I'm looking for.
As an avid collector, I find this book invaluable in helping me pay reasonable prices for my collectible glassware.
I would give this book a 5 star rating if it had more information on Fenton's Hobnail pattern. This pattern is often wrongly identified with other similar hobnail glass pieces and it would help me immensely if the pictured pieces showed the manufacturer's number.
I heartily recommend this book to collectors and dealers.

Customer Reviews:
Good Overview.......2001-11-23
This book is a great start and a nice overview of glassware from this era. Anyone collecting glass from these three decades knows that one book just cannot possibly capture it all, but this reference offers a great sweeping presentation. For collectors with large volumes of glassware, you won't go wrong with this book.
disappointed buyer.......2001-07-24
I bought this book without going to a bookstore to preview it. The only reason I wanted the book was for the peanut butter glasses on the cover. Only after searching through the book did I check inside the cover to find out that the Big Top peanut butter water tumblers were not featured in this book. I felt this was very deceiving of the author and although there are a lot of pictures of glassware, those pictures can be found in many other books.
collector's choice.......2001-03-20
the book is very helpful in reconizing and the value of many collector's dreams it has a lot of photo's that is also very helpful.the price was very reasonable,oh and i recived it in 2 day's.not bad...
glassware 40's,50's 0's.......2000-08-01
I just bought this book and the pictures are great and very detail. Gave a good amount of info about the company. Only thing I would like to see done is I have a problem knowing what the pieces are. It would be helpful if the were numbered so you could identify them easier. Would buy more book from this author.
Another home run for Gene Florence.......1999-12-22
Numerous glass companies from the "good old days" are represented in this edition and this IS another "must have" for the serious Anchor-Hocking, Fire-King and EAPC collectors to carry around with them in the car! Most importantly the photography is, as with all of Florence's books, beautiful and extremely color accurate. Price guidelines are updated and in tune with prices at the auctions. You don't even have to be a glassware collector to enjoy this book, it would make an excellent gift to someone's mom!

Book Description
A comprehensive resource for students on the autism spectrum preparing for life after high school, best-selling author/counselor Dr. Jed Baker offers "life skills training" on subjects such as non-verbal cues, body language, dealing with anger, frustration and anxiety, as well as building and maintaining friendships, roommates, and intimate relationships. He focuses on conversational and employment skills, ways to balance work/school with family demands, and problematic areas such as finances, emergencies and transportation matters. The assessment tools he provides for parents and the analysis of the laws that provide accommodations to adults with disabilities are critical for success in life after high school.
Customer Reviews:
A necessary tool for social skills groups........2007-01-10
I use Dr. Bakers manuals and pictures books in my group practice, and find them to be an invaluable tool for social skills training. They are easy to use and address the areas of difficulty that many of my clients struggle with. I also share the skills sheets with my clients' teachers and other caregivers to promote genrealization of the skills.
The gains my clients have made by learning and using the skills are measueable. Dr. Baker's books are a necessary tool for any social skills trainging program.
Excellent!!!.......2007-01-08
Another practical, informative and totally user-friendly book from Dr. Baker. Every professional working with adolescents and young adults will benefit from having this in their collection.
Knowledge delivered effectively is empowering!.......2007-01-05
In this indispensable guide, Dr. Baker gives parents and educators solid tools and strategies to embrace what's unique about our students in a way the adds ease and empowerment to the process.
Brilliant Navigator.......2006-12-11
This book is truly a Godsend. It is ideal for people on the autism/Asperger's spectrum who are approaching adulthood. Dr. Baker is plainly a gifted man and this book is proof positive of his logical vision. He is also a brilliant navigator who leads expeditions for people on the a/A spectrum into understanding the neurotypical world and issues in it.
I like the way he organizes assets and challenges by putting them into categories, e.g. work, social, etc. Dr. Baker includes some good practical techniques for handling difficult emotions. His advice on dating and employment issues is something no adult on the spectrum should go without reading. If you are an adult on the spectrum, please make this book your best friend.
Great Life Skills Training.......2006-07-11
This is a great motivational book for someone on the verge of entering into adulthood. Dr. Baker pinpoints specific skills needed for a variety of "life situations" by catagorizing them and dealing with them individually. It starts out with mapping out assets and challenges. There are activity pages to use when anger is an issue and suggestions on calming ones self. The book includes a 16 page section on dating. It offers great advice for job seekers, from writing resumes to handling rejection. These are only a few of the sections found in this book. It truly is indispensable for anyone with Autism or Asperger's Syndrome. I definitely recommend this one.
Book Description

This step-by-step guide is filled with self-tests, questions and answers, journaling and role playing exercises, and practical resources that give parents the insight they need to understand eating disorders and their treatment, recognize symptoms in their child, and work with their child toward recovery. This excellent and effective resource is one therapists can feel confident about recommending to patients.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent.......2007-03-29
Very good for family members and even for the anorexci person themselves. Simple and easy to read, lots of good tips for friends and family.
comprehensive and understandable.......2007-02-16
I am a MSW candidate at Simmons College with an extra interest in Eating Disorders. I have done a lot of research on the subject and have found this book to be the best I have seen recently. When Your Child has an Eating Disorder is comprehensive and concise. It is the most understandable book, laying out everything in a clear way. I find a lot of books written by therapists convoluted and over intellectualized to the point were one cannot tell what the topic is.
Both layman and professionals will be able to master more knowledge by reading this book than reading a dozen others.
When Your Child Has an Eating Disorder: A Step-By-Step Workbook for Parents and Other Caregivers.......2007-01-27
This book is a trmendous help for those of us who have no idea what to do. Instead of feeling guilty or walking on eggs around the person, it gives good explanations of the disease and ideas for interaction. A great help.
educational, unconditional, and a grand lesson for communicating.......2006-07-30
I am a 29 year old adult who went through the recovery process of an eating disorder 10 years ago. Upon experiencing a reoccurrence of the disorder, I read this book. I was elated with the knowledge and kindness vibrating off the pages. I have gotten back on track thanks to Abigail. In addition to the education on Eating Disorders, I found this book a GEM on communicating. It has changed the way my husband and I speak and listen to one another, as well as our young children. It encourages family dynamics be explored to help recovery, but is it not a good lesson for all parents (families)to learn to "hear" what is said, and to what is not said. I will keep this book on my shelf as an invaluable resource for Eating Disorders, or any emotional disorder that may come up, for parenting, and for communication skills. Thank you, Abbie for your time and efforts in writting this book.
Essential for Parents and Caregivers.......2006-03-10
This book is essential for anyone who wants to learn how to love an eating disordered child or adult. We were dealing with this for 5 years already before I found this book, and I can't emphasize enough how encouraging, informative, supportive and instructive this book is! Anyone who thinks they might have a child with an eating disorder would benefit from getting this book as soon as they can, but I have also recommended that our counselors and family therapist buy this book as well. They would benefit from the depth and breadth of Abigail's experience, but also, it would help considerably with their family therapy sessions if they gave the families this book to read. Most books are written to try to help the person who has the disorder. This book is especially for the caregivers and the parents who experience all the heartache and confusion of trying to help their child. Abigail Natenshon really understands that heartache and confusion and is able to communicate care and concern for the parents and families and yet such helpful instructions on steps they can take. She really believes in the importance of the family system to help the recovery process. When I felt like we had tried absolutely everything and nothing worked, this book gave me renewed hope and ideas for pressing on.

Book Description
The emotional attachment of a child to caregivers, and the attachment of the caregivers to the child, is of vital importance to the child's socioemotional development. Proper attachment can affect one's ability to feel and express love, moral development, motivation to achieve, and sense of identity. Modern industrial societies have seen a recent surge in attachment problems, yet there has been little information on clinical interventions for attachment disorders. The
Handbook of Attachment Interventions meets this need by providing information on diverse patient populations across different therapeutic philosophies, while providing specific techniques for treating attachment disordered children and their families. The book begins with a discussion of how attachment disorders relate to subsequent antisocial behavior patterns and other disorders, as well as general issues parents may encounter with an attachment disordered child. Subsequent chapters discuss special patient populations (the adopted child, military families, etc.) and techniques for intervention.
Practitioners in clinical, private practice, managed care, and hospital settings, social workers, developmental psychologists, and interested parents find the
Handbook of Attachment Interventions a valuable reference.

Great RAD book. Relatively high reading level........2007-06-27
A lot of information coming at you fast. May be a little overwhelming, but then again, so is Reactive Attachment Disorder. Nancy Thomas' "Healing Trust" CD will make the book more understandable.
Handbook of Attachment Interventions.......2005-10-04
An excellent reference for workers who support families in repairing damaged children.

Customer Reviews:
Eh.......2005-09-03
Very informative. Deadly dull. It's just a bunch of research studies. Great if you're into that kind of thing, or if you're assigned the book like I was.
A tad on the expensive side, but well worth the money........2002-12-07
I was able to purchase this book through a professional book club at a substantially lower price, so for me to say that "you must have this book," is easy for me to say. Nevertheless...
I have used this book countless times in my family therapy courses because this handbook presents a comprehensive overview of the current practice with regard to the intervention approaches in the child and family psychotherapy. Specific problems are dealt with in a cogent, yet thorough fashion with a plethora of research to buttress the assertions made.
This book is a compilation of current trends of intervention with specific problems and populations, containing empirical support of each approach, and the integration of treatment approaches.
The book may be a little pricey, but I look at purchases such as these as an investment in my career.
