As always a useful reference for the collector. My wife and I buy and sell glassware as well as other small collectibles and antiques and find this to be one of the more useful general guides for pricing and identifying a range of items.

This book works well to get a general idea of the value of items, but it has some bare spots. They cover some items in great detail and others in very general terms.
I would have liked it better if there was more discussion about what causes the variation in prices of certain categories.

A Perfect Gift.......2005-08-02
I purchased this book for my mother for Mother's Day. She also received another book on arranging flowers. We compared the two and agreed that this book was much better. The pictures are wonderful to use as an example of what the arrangement should look like, the list of necessary tools and flowers is easy to understand and best of all, anyone can make these arrangements. My mother has made two of the arrangements as gifts and both times they were the hit of the party. I would highly recomnmend this book.

Every page of this book has something in it either to learn about flowers or decorating with flowers. The craft ideas and the directions are easy to follow with professional results. I never knew Holiday decorating could be this easy and so decorative. I've started to make some projects to bring to friends houses instead of wine or dessert. Everyone is very impressed with the results. "Fun" book !

If you're a beginning woodworker looking for ideas, this book will be helpful. The instructions are detailed and clear, there are ample photos illustrating the construction, and complete cutting lists are provided.
There are some projects here that give you good woodworking experience. Unfortunately, the finished products are rough-looking and utilitarian. There's nothing in here that you would be proud to show off.
Some of the projects could be cleaned up by adding some finishing techniques such as routing edges on the wood and adding more curves to your cuts. If you have an eye for design, this book will give you the technical know-how to put together outdoor furniture. But if you follow the plans step-by-step, you'll have a backyard full of furniture that looks like it was made by the local troop of Cub Scouts.

Interesting projects, not quite doing it for me, though........2006-12-29
I found the instructions to be very easy to follow, and crystal clear on the important points. A couple of the projects called for materials that are simply too difficult to find in my area, like 16-foot lengths of 2x. I know it exists, but when you're looking for something to make "furniture" you need better stuff than framing lumber. So, you're off to a specialty lumber yard, which isn't open after work hours, etc.
So, 4 stars for a variety of projects and clarity of instructions then.
