This is a very interactive book! It combines an entertaining story and an introduction to the internet. We also enjoyed the links to an interactive website explaining how the internet works! Children can also send e-mail to the three main characters in the book, Chi Chi, Chiklet, and Charlie.

My chihuahua grand-dog liked the book a lot! She needs smart, female role models. There is too much Taco Bell dog out there to suit her.

I was so very disappointed in this book! I thought it might be a great book to use in my kindergarten classroom since I have a chihuahua.
WRONG!!!
I was extremely UNimpressed with the book. First off the illustrations are all heavy black line drawing which aren't particularly attractive.
Secondly of the six e-mail messages which are exchanged between the dogs, three of them deal with "poo", "potty", "piddle", "wee wee", "tinkled", "poop"....shall I go on?? Not really appropriate for a group of children.
And thirdly it details how the "Dad" rubbed one dog's nose "in it". Again, not really appropriate.
There is no way I would read this book to a group of children. I was really disappointed. I'm really careful about what I bring into my classroom and this book won't go there.

If you thought leather craft was just had tooling on saddles and belt straps...this book will show you how elegant and sophistcated great leather work can be. This book covers all the details and tools necessary to learn all the skills. Well written and well illustrated..highly recommended
Great introduction.......2007-03-09
I'm new to working with leather, and this book answered all of my questions about the tools I needed and the materials. It includes magnificent photographs of some inspiring projects, and my only wish is that full instructions be provided for all of them. As it is, there is a sampling of projects in the back, generally very simple and classic looking, occasionally too 80s for modern tastes.
I have made my first bag with this book already, and am about to embark on my second. But the book has useful information for anyone interested in making belts, boxes, wallets, etc.
The resource guide at the end of the book has not been updated since before the advent of the Internet, so it will be of limited use. However, my own Google searches unearthed all of the tools and materials I actually needed. The suggested set-up for a workshop in the book is fanciful for a beginner: I hardly have a tabletop to dedicate to this pastime, let alone a custom-fit room of my own. Some of the tools are similarly useful, but not impossible to do without -- so don't be put off by the lengthy list in the front. I found a number of supplies (linen thread, long, blunt needles, an awl) in the bookbinding section of a local art store.
Inspiring Couch Potato Book.......2007-01-25
I actually purchased this book many years ago when it first came out, and I still have not made anything from it, partially due to the fact that the illustrations and products are so perfect in the book, but are unlikely to turn out that way because I'm an amateur. She suggests some very unique tools that are hard to find and/or improvise, which also impedes my ability to consider starting a project. But her leather working tips are great, the images are very clear and the final projects are really stylish (even after all these years) and usable.
Not enough detail to answer my questions........2003-07-06
The book is a very good introduction to working with leather, but it didn't have the details to answer all of my questions, and I am now in search of a better book. The information seems adequate, but once you visit an actual leather supply store (or even consult an online catalog) you'll find you have a thousand questions that this book doesn't confront. A larger glossary would improve this book immensely.
Unfortunately, the guys who run the local leather supply store here are only helpful if it's obvious you're going to spend lots of money. Otherwise they pretty much look down their noses at you. So unless I find some friendlier people to ask questions, I'm stuck with finding the right book. I'm sorry to say that this was not that book.
A different perspective than US Western.......2000-12-28
This book is a welcome addition to my leatherworking library. Particularly since the the styles are similar to my own tastes - very plain, but elegant. Very different from the typical US type of leatherworking with lots of tooling, buckstitching, etc. Not that I don't appreciate that style also - I have a huge stack of Ann & Al Stohlman's books that I regularly re-read - but it is nice to see something *different*. The techniques, also, are a bit different in some cases, which I also appreciate.
As the author is British, some of the terms and tools may seem unfamiliar at first. However, there are either the "American-English" equivalents listed, or it's clear what is meant from skimming the text.

The Secret Garden is a book about a spoiled girl who uncovers the mysteries of the house around her which include, but are not limited too, what is behind the wall, and why is it kept secret. It is a good classic, but girls will enjoy it much more than boys do.

This has always been one of my favorite books since childhood. When I read my first story in this book it gave me so much inspiration to use my imagination as a child should. A child's imagination is so real! This reality soon takes the form of abstract, which paves the road to anywhere he wants it to go - or not...

This edition is printed on really cheap, unappealing paper. I can't imagine anyone wanting to give this version of a children's classic as a gift, or even to read from it to a child yourself.

This book is the best book I have ever read. It's a light, happy book that I will treasure for the rest of my life. Ilove the theme of hope in the book, that will convince readers about the Magic inside themselves...if they hope. If they believe something will happen, it will. That theme is so beautifully conveyed. I couldn't put it down, and it is most definitely my new favorite book. A MUST READ!!!!!!!!

Very verbose and non-informative.......2006-11-21
The book is supposed to give you basic knowledge about pre-diabetes, diabetes and the ways of preventing one from progressing to another. In fact, the book practically doesn't contain any medical information. All its content can be summarized as following: eat less, eat properly, exercise more and get some support from your family. Period. This simple message is evenly spread over a hundred pages or so. It is repeated innumerable times as a mantra.
In addition some of information is just not up-to-date and is wrong from today's standpoint. The book recommends cutting on fats and compensating with carbs and proteins. The dominating theory today is opposite: with prediabetes you must closely watch and limit the amount of carbs you eat.
If you want technical details and explanations I strongly recommend to buy "Prediabetes: What You Need to Know to Keep Diabetes Away" by Gretchen Becker instead.
Simple strategies.......2001-06-08
I liked this book. Full of thought-provoking stories, the writers gently give motivational messages and simple strategies on ways to adopt healthier eating and activity habits for better health. It's nice to know there are simple things I can do to help prevent my getting diabetes.
