Customer Reviews:
Gerbil mastery.......2007-09-14
This book really does make gerbil care easy. Everything from "finding the gerbil of your dreams" to breeding to showing gerbils in competition. I never knew there were such things as gerbil shows! Lots of nice color photos. Devotes a chapter to training gerbils, something not found in a lot of gerbil books. A good book to read if you're even considering a gerbil.
Best book we have found.......2006-12-29
My 8 year old has been wanting gerbils for months. We told him he had to read and be able to talk to us about them and their care. He (and the rest of the family) have now read several books. This was by far the best. My son made the decisions about cages, types, sex etc on his own after reading this book. He could discuss care issues and that he was not ready for breeding, wanted 2 females and what he would have to do to care for them.
In comparison to other books, this has more useful information, is more complete, better photos and after three days with the gerbils has already answered multiple questions.
If you can only get one book then this should be it.
Fun and Informative Gerbil Title.......2006-07-10
The other reviewers are right--Donna Anastasi knows gerbils! This delightful book is so much fun to read (again and again) that it would potentially convince anyone that gerbils are the pets for them. Best of all, it's 176 pages, so it's packed full of information--from tips to games. As a result of reading this book I became a fan not only of gerbils, but also of Ms. Anastasi (you will, too!), whose love for these furry little rodents is evident throughout the work. Imagine my delight when I adopted a pair and found out they're great-granddaughters of her gerbils!
If you only get one gerbil care book--make this one it.
Amazingly Simple, Informative, Practical.......2006-01-21
I purchased this very informative gerbil book about a month ago, and haven't put it down since! I use the book as a reference guide, especially now that I'm breeding gerbils for the first time. The pictures in the book alone are worth buying the book for! I have learned so much, people think I'm an expert! I highly recommend this book for first time and experienced gerbil owners.
The ultimate gerbil book !!.......2005-11-21
If you are looking for the best gerbil care book, look no further.
This is the ultimate gerbil care book. It is very easy to read, full of reliable information and great pictures. The best of all, throughout the book you feel Donna's love for gerbils. I strongly recommend this book for all gerbil lovers young and old.

Has Robert's pet gerbil become one of the undead?
When Exterminator dies, Robert is so crushed, he can't even talk about it. It doesn't help that his older brother, Sam, keeps telling dead-gerbil jokes. Things get even worse when Sam thinks of a plan to cheer Robert up -- and one dark and stormy night, Sam and Robert find themselves right in the middle of . . . the night of the living gerbil!

Night of the Gerbil book review.......2007-03-23
I would recommend this book to a person that enjoys reading horror/comedy books. I didn't think that Sam was very helpful to his brother because Robert's gerbil had died and Sam was making jokes about it. Overall, I thought this book was alright because it wasn't very exiting or adventurous.

Customer Reviews:
To little information.......2006-01-28
I had a few gerbils as a kid, and came back to them as an adult. I was not the best pet owner as a child, and as an adult I wanted to do better, and make sure the gerbils I had were as happy as they could be. My husband and I looked in bookstores and pet stores and this was the only book we found, much to our disappointment. This book is at best a good introduction to gerbils, and has some basic care requirements that most people won't know. However, beyond the very basics I've found this book to be little help at all. The health information has failed to provide critical information every time we`ve needed it, and I've lost 3 gerbils in the past two years. (Store bought gerbils. Now I go to a reputable breeder to avoid the genetic defects.) The food information is not the best either, being vague and very general, and has left my husband and I confused on several points.
If you need a book to introduce your child to pet care, or if you just want the basics on gerbils yourself, this book is fine. If you're an adult wanting to adopt and take care of gerbils well, I suggest you look elsewhere. (The American Gerbil Society recommends Gerbils: The Complete Guide to Gerbil Care ) If you want to breed, for-the-love-of-God why are you looking at this book?
Gerbil Book.......2005-02-12
I got this book from the library and I read part of it. I have two gerbils. Their names are Acorn and Daisy. I had read another book about gerbils that said that they sleep at night but this book said they like to stay up around midnight. This book is right. When my gerbils were in my room they ran on their wheels and kept me up at about that time. I liked a picture of gerbils in tubes in this book. It showed a gerbil jumping into a tube. I learned that you are supposed to let your gerbils run around in a room about three times a week. I hadn't been doing that. Now we let them loose in the bathroom sometimes and on the table in the basement. I also liked the pictures of different colors of gerbils. I didn't know there were black and white spotted gerbils until I read this.
Pretty Good Book.......2004-03-08
I am a new owner of Gerbils and this is the first book I got to get more information on the adorable little animal. It's a pretty good book with lot of great information and pictures.
Good reference.......2000-03-21
I keep and breed gerbils for snake food, but the breeders are also my pets. This book is an excellent guide to keeping the gerbils happy and healthy. I learned what and what not to feed, why woods and plastics are not good in the cage unless intended as a chew toy [plastic is bad], and how to handle them. Great guide, and I recommend it to all potential gerbil owners!
Helpful and Accurate information was given.......1999-06-29
This book is a must if you plan on keeping gerbils!
Book Description
To thrive, these friendly little animals require companionship with other gerbils, which means that owners should keep more than one. Gerbils also enjoy being gently held by their owners. Books in this series are written especially for inexperienced pet owners, for parents whose kids would like to have a pet, and for kids who simply want to learn more about animals that make good pets. Boys and girls are also introduced to the golden rules of pet care, and are advised on how to create affection and trust between themselves and their pets. Several gatefold pages in each book open wide to display attractive photo essays on animals and their care. Every book in this series contains approximately 80 full-color, high-quality photos, as well as instructive drawings.
Customer Reviews:
Very thorough.......2006-03-22
We are getting two gerbils for our 5 year old son and I have read nearly everything I can get my hands on. This book contains the lots of information while not being too wordy. I was able to read much of it to my son.
If you're only going to buy one book on gerbils this should be it.
GREAT read.......2004-03-08
I am a new owner of Gerbils and this is the 2nd book I got to get more information on the adorable little animal. It's a great book with lots of great information and pictures. I really enjoyed the mini questionaires in this book.
Customer Reviews:
Good book.........2006-02-10
This is a great book, includes many more unusual types of rodents (jirds, degus etc). However it contains nothing about ferrets, only rodents and rabbits. This book is translated from dutch, so there are lots of errors, and the grammer can be amusing at times.

Disappointed but my fault.......2007-05-12
I was buying this book for a 12 year old and thought from discription it would have alot of information in it. It was a good book for maybe a 6-7 year old. It was not technical enough and I would have realized that it I had seen it in person.
Book Description
The author takes a classic favorite and makes it fast and easy to create with the innovative quick turn method and an iron on interfacing.
Customer Reviews:
Great Sunbonnet Sue Book.......2007-05-14
I bought this book for myself because of Eleanor Burns. Her books are so easy to understand. The book is in black and white with some color photos of Sue & Sam. You get directions for a wall hanging (18 X 32 1/2) all the way up to a double coverlet (76 X 89). This book tells you how to make the patterns using an interfacing you have to trace the pattern onto. I have gone to Eleanors website and bought the preprinted fusible interfacing. Makes it much quicker and easier IMO. This book reminds me of the quilts my grandmother used to make. A little old fashioned, but you can change how the Sue's and Sam's look by using different material and things like lace, buttons, ribbons, and rickrack. The book does come with a pattern for Sue & Sam and a kite & tie.
Great Bargain.......2005-08-10
When the bidding on e-bay went sky high for the same item, I was pleased to find it at Amazon for a reasonable price.
The book is in super condition and I am very happy
Eleanor Does It Again.......2000-03-28
Eleanor meets Sue in one of the most delightful of her quilting how-to books. If you're familiar with Ms. Burns' books and/or videos, you know that she's getting better with almost every volume...clearer instructions, more detailed illlustrations, and enticing photos of the finished projects. An added treat in her Sunbonnet Sue volume is the clever series of illustrations featuring the famous little faceless lass engaging in the various steps in quilt-making (Sue earnestly plugging away at the sewing machine, etc.) This would be an excellent addition to a quilting library, and even a great first-time quilt project. Thanks to Eleanor's consistently excellent instructions, you'll be able to follow along with no difficulty...and even a chuckle or two.
Product Description

Famous for her easy methods, Eleanor shows step by step how to plan fabrics and efficiently transform them into loveable quilt squares.

Customer Reviews:
THE BEST BOOK ON THE SUBJECT.......2005-07-14
I cannot praise this book highly enough for covering all the possible ways this transition can go awry and how women can be treated on an individual basis according to their needs as opposed to the "one size fits all" regimen offered by many doctors. I am not a physician's assistant and I refer you to the fine review provided by one below. I am just a woman who has been "mis" treated in the past and suffered from the terrible side effects of such. I am thrilled to find a book that can enlighten and empower women to seek the proper treatment for their particular menopausal imbalance. YOU GO, JOE!
The best of bio-identical hormones, menopause, and much more.......2004-04-25
Other books may have more well known authors but this book is one of the best available on the topic. I say this as a physician assistant (PA) of 18 years experience and with 7 years of personal and professional experience dealing with menopausal and peri-menopausal issues.
I recommend this book daily to my patients. I also highly recommend this book to any health professional who wants to learn about natural approaches to menopause as well as the use of bio-identical hormones.
The author, Dr. Joe Collins, a naturopath, is a credit to the healing profession. He knows his topic inside and out and writes in a clear, reader-friendly manner. Not a lot of filler in this book.
Collins takes the reader through a comprehensive approach to peri-menopause and menopause, starting with nutrition and diet, and moving onto herbs, homeopathic remedies, glandulars, and finally bio-identical hormones. He has a great questionaire that helps a women figure out her areas of hormonal deficiencies and strengths.
This book will provide the reader an excellent education regarding the pros and cons of synthetic vs. bio-identical hormones. Dr. Collins helps the reader to understand all the variations of menopausal symptoms and treatments. Althought this book is aimed at the layperson, I promise physicians who read this book that they will learn much they didn't know.
This book is excellently researched, referenced and indexed, with bonus appendices lavishing even more details about each hormone.
Thank you Dr. Collins for this top notch contribution to the well being of all women going through menopause.

Sailing Through Menopause
Liz Lipski, PhD, CCN
An interview with special guest Joe Collins, ND, author of Discover Your Menopause Type
Even though every woman is different, traditionally every woman has received one type of menopause therapy--a "one hormone solution." Dr. Collins has identified 12 distinct menopause types and developed a treatment for each. He shows women how to determine their own menopause type and then prescribes a nutritional, herbal, glandular, and hormonal treatment program to manage the symptoms for each type.
In this interview:
•Learn what you need to know about menopause and peri-menopause
•See which of the 12 Menopause Types describes you
•Discover why women need testosterone
•How to avoid menopause crash and burn
•Examine the pros and cons of Hormone Replacement Therapy
•Find out what lab tests to use and why
•Herbal Therapies can help, see which are right for you
•Uncover the power of progesterone
•Finding the Right Doctor does not have to be hard, see why •Andropause is the mens equivalent, discover what happens
In the years I have been working with menopausal women, I have found that no two women have shared exactly the same experience. Menopause has a surprisingly wide range of signs and symptoms. For some woman, it's easy and comfortable. For others, it doesn't go so smoothly. Indeed, menopause doesn't seem to be a single condition at all. Over time, I realized the obvious: Every woman's menopause is unique. . . Dr. Joseph J. Collins is an internationally recognized leader in the field of Functional Endocrinology. He is an experienced medical educator and presents many lectures to physicians, pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners, and other healthcare professionals on diagnostic and therapeutic applications within the integrated, functional medicine model.
