        When I first saw this book and its' authors on Simply Quilts, I just knew I'd make that piano quilt for my mother. She doesn't own a piano but it's always been a dream of hers. Mom and I had fun picking out the fabrics. Then I couldn't resist entering it in the county fair this year. I won a ribbon for 2nd. place. I've only been quilting for a year and this was my best effort.

        As for the rest of the book, I just adore all of the quilts. Sometimes when I need to take a break, I just glance through the book and read every word and appreciate all the work and artistic expression that went into the quilts. I even have friends and family that will ask me to bring out that book so they can look through it. I think someday I'll make another watercolor quilt, but I'll just use my felt board and let the pieces decide what it'll be. There's a lot of emotion in my life right now with raising 2 small children, and I'd like to surprise myself with those addictive 2 inch squares.

        This book makes a great coffee table book and an inspiration for anyone who appreciates art. Enjoy!!!

        The lovely painterly effect of watercolor quilts appeals to many quilters, but the technique is generally quite labor-intensive and time-consuming. Dina Pappas has refined a method that greatly simplifies the process, and her book explains it all clearly. Her secret is gridded fusible interfacing (bought with a printed grid or penciled on), on which the fabric squares are laid out and fused on; the whole piece is then folded on the grid lines and stitched. Not only does this greatly simplify and speed up the procedure, but it also allows for easy rearrangement of the layout before fusing; it also prevents quilters from accidentally rotating or mixing up the squares when stitching them together. The other element that makes this approach so easy entails keeping the designs fairly simple and small, though the technique can certainly be adapted to larger, more complex designs as quilters become more comfortable with the system. Pappas includes a good general overview of quilting basics, and the 13 step-by-step projects let newcomers practice the method under her tutelage before branching out on their own. --Amy Handy

        The fuse, fold and stitch method of quilting can be used to make quilts other than watercolor. The seams are perfect and all corners match beautifully. This is one method of quilting that you must try.

        I have now made 2 wallhangings from this book. Easy-to-follow instructions made putting these together a breeze. I had only been quilting just under a year when I attempted these. My fellow quilters were quite impressed and even borrowed the book from me. I saw this book with a demonstration on a TV quilting show. I just saw a second book which I intend to buy very soon.         I have and have read a bunch of watercolor/colorwash/impressionist quilt books. My head is swimming with theory. They all begin with color and pattern theory (and they are all different) with levels and layers of categories, and when you think you've got it, you haven't. By being very specific and limited, this book enables you to take off on your own successfully. I think it is a better springboard for your own creativity - and initial success as opposed to hits with misses - than the more technically difficult and detailed. They are all beautiful but to actually see one and reproduce it successfully, I'd have to say this is the book to go with, and then go on to the more elaborate ones if you want.

        I've never bought a book on quilting before but just *had* to have this one, and I'm glad I did! I used Dina's method of quilting for making a lovely three heart wall hanging, but never thought I was capable of making a whole quilt. Well, that all changed when I read Quick Watercolor Quilts. The author does such a great job of explaining no stitch quilting. Even a novice like me can enjoy quilting with this book as a guide! So many of my freinds have asked to borrow my copy, I'm picking up another one just to loan out! I can't wait to read Pappas' other books! Thanks so much for your insight Dina--you're on my all time favorites list!

        My grandmother loved to quilt and I remember hours spent watching her make these fabulous pieces of art. Since her death, I have regretted not having joined her in her creative endeavor, and found this book to be not only informative but it helped take the struggle out of this art. I finished my first one, now onto my second. Great book!

              I have owned this book since it first came out. I keep returning to it for projects and basic sewing and quilting instructions--like how to sew the ends of binding together so there are no lumps. I especially loved the Diamond Jubilee design shown on the back cover and opposite the table of contents page. Although the pattern wasn't written up in the book, I was able to count the squares and recreate it. (The pattern is now available in quilt shops.) Try the triangle technique for the nosegays and beautiful ribbon border. Definitely a book to buy!

              Dina has outdone herself, again. Her creativity, and talent for design and color selection, produced another beautiful book. Again, her instructions are clear and concise. She shares her ability to select fabrics that compliment each other beautifully. I didn't have any interest in watercolor quilts until I discovered Dina's books. If you love beautiful watercolor quilts, but were intimidated by sewing so many little squares together, try Dina's method. You'll be hooked!
