    This book was a real disappointment to me. I own and like several of this author's other books, but I plan to resell this one. Most of the cards used photos, which I am just not interested in. I don't think the designs are pretty, either. Even the cards without photos weren't to my taste. Might be OK for a beginner, although I'm not sure there would be enough directions for a first-time project.

    I was also disappointed with the quality and contents of this book. The pictures, samples and description not up to the usual standard of this author. Although a nice book to look at, I have not been inspired to rush right in and make any of the cards discussed. Pity ....

      This is such a well designed book. A must for all decorative painters who love florals. The spiral bound book gives ease of use and reference. This artist really delivers with the information, content, illustrations, directions. Its so refreshing to buy a book that actually delivers what it adverises!! So glad I picked this one up. I've taken a break from decorative paining for a few years and miss it so am starting up again but am rusty from the absence. I selected this book and also Maureen McNaugton's Brushstroke Handbook: Ultimate guide.... It too is well worth buying. The latter is a brushstroke content but the illustrations and also directions plus color suggestions (as in Laure Paillex's too) are great at getting started. Both can be combined to make beautiful stilllife bouquets. And for the quick version I also added Donna Dewberry's Flowers from A to Z and am happy with that choice as well. Enjoy.

        This book was stock full of useful information for making those beautiful chintz quilts of yesteryear. The directions were, for the most part, extremely precise. Where there is question, I found that contacting Ms. Severson via e-mail through her website, was an excellent experience. She wastes no time in helping with any questions you have and has a generous interest in what people who use her book are doing. The quilts in the book are extremely beautiful and most of the projects will produce some beautiful, heirloom quality quilts. It's one of my favorite books in my colletion!!!

        Ms Severson has a wonderful sense of color and design. Her quilts are a lovely combination of applique and piecing. She has also provided fine instructions for creating borders with meandering vines and ideas for using toile. The one thing I didn't care for in this text (which is pricey) were the small projects which were neither applique nor up to the quality of the rest of the text, (the sissor fob, eye glass case, sachets and pin cushion). Never-the-less I am happy I purchased the book for my library.

                    As a 3rd year resident this book was invaluable. I strongly recommend it to all surgical residents and 3rd or 4th year medical students. The first author is a practicing thoracic surgeon and the second a cardiologist. Excellent and practical editors. The drug tables and dosing are practical as well
