Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Good basic info on lots of fish, photos could be better.......2001-02-09
This is a nice little handbook of fish that is handy to take to the pet store when shopping. It has chapters of basic fishkeeping information, and sections on the habitats of various types of fish. It tells you how large they get, where the fish are from, and tells you how aggressive they are. It is well organized and easy to use. Many of the photos, however, show fish with very little color. Many of them seem to be photos of immature fish. All in all, this book is nice to have as a reference.

Who wants to be a large cat? Lion, tiger, or jaguar, anyone?.......2005-07-19
This book is quite good and well written. I like it very much. The information is perfect for anyone who wants to learn and the photos are absolutely stunning. I thank amazon.com for this and for the many reccomendations they've given me. As a matter of fact, quite a few are things I'd like. Oh, yeah, back to the book. I liked it all through and through, and the only reason I don't give it five stars is that it could have used a few more jaguar pictures. Whatever, it is a grand book and I will own it for all time.
Big Cats.......2002-01-13
This 80-page book is filled with amazing photographs of big cats. It provides an over-view of big cat anatomy, and goes on to explain the individual characteristics of the major big cat species, from tigers to bobcats to ocelots. I also just love the variety and beauty of the pictures.

Needs more editing.......2005-01-13
This book is riddled with mistakes. To name a few, 1. it says that cows are related to horses and swine (if you are going that far back in evolution then you might as well say that they are related to us), 2. several photos have misnamed the breed of cow in the picture, 3. says that Guernseys come from France (they originated on the channel island of Guernsey), 4. a photo shows some Muskoxen as being a type of wild cow (they are more closely related to goats), 5. the book states that cows have no incisors (they do have LOWER incisors). I could go on.

What can I say. This book is perfect. Well, almost. Lions are and always have been my favorite animal in the world, with tigers very close to a tie. This book is filled with terrific and fun info on the golden king of beasts(not king of the jungle, it lives on the African plains, DUH!)and the photos are out of this world. In fact, you might even say that the lions in the pictures are the most buff and beautiful felines you've ever seen. Any lion lover needs this book immediately, it gives lions full respect and glory, nuff said! Buy it when you get the chance!

Sweet and Simple Baby Quilts.......2006-02-23
The book was like new and the information was excellent.
Not just for babies.......2004-02-14
Ms. Hickey has included designs in this book that are very simple and quick to make but produce fabulous quilts for anyone of any age. It all depends on the fabric you choose to work with. Bottom line: Mary's designs make great quilts for babies and kids but with a change in fabric, they also become great gift quilts: stunning to look at but quick to make.
Very novel.......2003-07-05
Ms Hickey has some really interesting ideas of how to showcase novelty fabrics in a baby, or even wall, quilt that are striking
and very pretty. Her directions are good & there are an arrangement of difficult to very easy quilts listed.
The only flaw to the book would be a good source of where or what these novelties are called and could be found. But I guess you could use it just as a starting place and not as an exact duplicate. Really recommended.

Book Description
In No Man's Garden, ecologist Daniel Botkin takes a fresh look at the life and writings of Henry David Thoreau to discover a model for reconciling the conflict between nature and civilization that lies at the heart of our environmental problems. He offers an insightful reinterpretation of Thoreau, drawing a surprising picture of the "hermit of Walden" as a man who loved wildness, but who found it in the woods and swamps on the outskirts of town as easily as in the remote forests of Maine, and who firmly believed in the value and importance of human beings and civilization.
Botkin integrates into the familiar image of Thoreau, the solitary seeker, other, equally important aspects of his personality and career-as a first-rate ecologist whose close, long-term observation of his surroundings shows the value of using a scientific approach, as an engineer who was comfortable working out technical problems in his father's pencil factory, and as someone who was deeply concerned about the spiritual importance of nature to people.
This new view of one of the founding fathers of American environmental thought lays the groundwork for an innovative approach to solving environmental problems. Botkin argues that the topics typically thought of as "environmental," and the issues and concerns of "environmentalism," are in fact rooted in some of humanity's deepest concerns-our fundamental physical and spiritual connection with nature, and the mutually beneficial ways that society and nature can persist together. He makes the case that by understanding the true scientific, philosophical, and spiritual bases of environmental positions we will be able to develop a means of preserving the health of our biosphere that simultaneously allows for the further growth and development of civilization.
No Man's Garden presents a vital challenge to the assumptions and conventional wisdom of environmentalism, and will be must reading for anyone interested in developing a deeper understanding of interactions between humans and nature.
Product Description
History: Fiction or Science? is the most explosive tractate on history ever written - however, every theory it contains, no matter how unorthodox, is backed by solid scientific data. The book is well-illustrated, contains over 446 graphs and illustrations, copies of ancient manuscripts, and countless facts attesting to the falsity of the chronology used nowadays, which never cease to amaze the reader. Eminent mathematician proves that: Jesus Christ was born in 1153 and crucified in 1186 The Old Testament refers to mediaeval events. Apocalypse was written after 1486. Does this sound uncanny? This version of events is substantiated by hard facts and logic - validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources - to a greater extent than everything you may have read and heard about history before. The dominating historical discourse in its current state was essentially crafted in the XVI century from a rather contradictory jumble of sources such as innumerable copies of ancient Latin and Greek manuscripts whose originals had vanished in the Dark Ages and the allegedly irrefutable proof offered by late mediaeval astronomers, resting upon the power of ecclesial authorities. Nearly all of its components are blatantly untrue! For some of us, it shall possibly be quite disturbing to see the magnificent edifice of classical history to turn into an ominous simulacrum brooding over the snake pit of mediaeval politics. Twice so, in fact: the first seeing the legendary millenarian dust on the ancient marble turn into a mere layer of dirt - one that meticulous unprejudiced research can eventually remove. The second, and greater, attack of unease comes with the awareness of just how many areas of human knowledge still trust the three elephants of the consensual chronology to support them. Nothing can remedy that except for an individual chronological revolution happening in the minds of a large enough number of people.

Ridiculous.......2007-09-07
There are a few characterizations in this fantasy piece that ring true, but those few that do exist are smothered by the absurdity of the rest of this novel. It might have helped if the author had taken 10 or 15 minutes to do a little research geography alone. Yes, there were covert missions aplenty into Laos and even southern China. Yes, many were FUBAR at the moment of conception. But the portrayals in "Slow Walk through the Gardens..." don't even reach the level of comic book. Prospective readers are encouraged to save their money. There are plenty of accounts, and even some fiction, available on Amazon regarding US intervention in Laos...all far better than this mess. Without a doubt, "Slow Walk...Gardens of Hell" one of the worst books written to date on the war in Southeast Asia. Too bad "zero" stars was not a rating option.
Not sure if this non-fiction book is really fictional.......2007-07-29
I have read dozens (hundred, plus??) of first person accounts of their action in SE asia. SOme of this story is so radically different I am having a hard time believing it. THe basis is that he was a graduate student in guerilla warfare hired by the CIA to help them in Laos and Thailand. The guy that hires him gets fired so the author is shipped off to do combat patrols.
He appears to be a CIA contractor, but not a CIA actual employee. His willingness and ease with which he supposedly kills superior officers and other members of the US Army either makes him the most honest author of the war to date or not completely honest about his history. As a civilian contractor I don't understand if he was under any contract, and if not why not just leave if it was so bad for him. Also, as a civilian, why the hell was he taking ANY orders from Army personel. As a discharged veteran, any military person who tried to give me orders I would tell to get bent as I am a civilian now. I don't understand why he allowed himself to be ordered into situations when he was not official CIA and his directions weren't coming from the CIA.
That being said I am not a combat veteran so I will leave others to decide if it is true or not.
Other than that it is an interesting read if nothing else. If you can keep a skeptical outlook it is a quick read.
A graphic look at the Vietnam War.......2006-10-10
This novel is an intense look at the realities of war from the perspective of a soldier who was just trying to make it out alive. The main character is an American intellectual who was hired by the CIA to conduct intelligence in Laos and vietnam. Unfortunately for him, the CIA dropped the program and didn't know what to do with him. He was sent to command a small patrol in Laos as an "equivalent" officer, which meant that he was never officially part of the military, but was treated like one. Through a combination of resourcefulness, craziness, booze, drugs, and just plain luck he survived in the enemy-infested jungles of Laos against remarkable odds only to have to fight for his own survival against the local military brass who wished he would just disappear. He made a few friends but even more enemies as he did everything in his power to come through it all alive.

Book Description
See the birds and bees, flowers and weeds, and different people who make up God's Flower Garden as seen through the eyes of the poet, for the beauty of God's Flower Garden is not only the flowers God created, but also the different people He created.
Experience the frustration of being kept waiting for a scheduled appointment, the sadness of putting a pet to sleep, the humorous aspect of a surgery not mentioned in polite society, and other common events in life, all described in verse and rhyme. These events all take place in a part of God's Flower Garden.
Poems on Christmas, comfort, mercy, a prayer for forgiveness, and others bring to mind the serious side of life in God's Flower Garden.
To cover all of God's Flower Garden, one must remember the mountains, rivers, trees, national parks, etc., for He created them all. Experience the beauty of the Smoky Mountains, a pilgrimage to the colonial south, and other trips/outings as described by the author. God's Flower Garden would not be complete without mentioning friends and family, which the author has done by including poems written for them on their birthdays.

Book Description
For all parents who have ever cried in despair over their hyperactive, impulsive, and seemingly uncontrollable child; for every teacher who’s ever vented frustration at a student who just won’t pay attention; for every kid who has ever asked himself, Why does everyone hate me?–help is here. Only a Mother Could Love Him is a remarkable look inside the mind of a person with ADD/ADHD. Ben Polis attended six different schools, served over three thousand hours of detention, and drove his family into counseling. But through great determination and the use of self-taught concentration techniques, Ben not only graduated high school but also attended a competitive university.
Ben describes what it’s really like to feel those constant impulses, to get all that medication, to desperately want to be “normal.” In addition, he offers lots of valuable advice to parents, including
• finding what forms of discipline will work–and what will never work
• surviving the daily homework struggle
• medicating or seeking other methods of treatment
• teaching your ADD/ADHD child to read
Only a Mother Could Love Him is a much-needed salve for parents and kids who feel isolated, depressed, and confused. From schoolwork to exercise to drugs, Ben Polis has important insights to share–and a message of hope that will warm the hearts of those suffering the most.
Customer Reviews:
ADD with heart and insight.......2007-04-02
Ben Polis set out to write a book that would help parents understand their ADHD children. In that regard, I feel he succeeded admirably. It certainly provides a lot of insight into the mind of kid who just can't control himself.
I would absolutely recomment this book to parents who have a child that has, or may have, ADD/ADHD. I would also consider it a must-read for teachers and students aspiring to be teachers. The classroom is a really rough place for kids with ADD and there are too many teachers who'd rather ignore a trouble-maker than actually put the effort into helping them. I think this book might give them what they need to be more compassionate with children who need the attention.
There are a lot of good ideas in this book for staving off temper-tantrums and explaining to the child how he is misbehaving.
I addition to the advice and insight, it's a really touching story. You really get a sense of the sadness and confusion Ben went through, as well as the horror his parents felt on more than one occasion.
The book would probably be great for someone in their teens or older who is living with ADD and wants to feel that they are not alone, or could benefit from his coping strategies.
I do have a couple criticisms. First, it should be noted that while Ben grew up with ADHD, he is not an expert on the subject. His advice comes from personal experience, not research. His techniques, while probably very helpful, will not apply in all cases. There are also times in the book where he simply does not undertand what it is that he's talking about. He tries to talk about stuff that is beyond his own experience, and in a few cases he is not correct, or, for example, displays that he doesn't actually know what the word "symptom" means. The average person will probably not catch these mistakes, but they are there, and it should be remembered that he is not an expert.
The other problem I had was that it was very male-centric. When giving advice he always refers to "your son". The book probably has little to offer parent of daughters with ADHD unless the daughter follows a pattern of symptoms more typical of a boy.
Overall, the book really is excellent. It's a good read and I expect very helpful. But keep in mind, especially if you are a parent of a child with ADHD, that he not an authority.
Hard to follow at times... but good - really useful.......2006-05-05
This book is ok, but I found it hard to focus on Ben's story and experiences. I felt like I had ADHD (which I don't anymore)- with his disjointed story line and how it skips around, like reading a story written by a parrot on crystal meth. It was good though, and he is a pretty good author - I hardly found any spelling mistakes and it was over 100 pages.
All round good book helpful for those seeking support through all of the issues ADHD sufferers experience. Good Work Ben!
A Very Naughty Boy.......2006-05-05
I was at school with Ben Polis. He was a very naughty boy. We had lots of naughty boys at our school. When boys were naughty, us good boys would put them in a big blue junk jinker. Ben spent alot of time in the junk jinker. He behaved himself inside the junk jinker. That's how we triumphed over ADHD.
about time too !!!.......2005-08-01
A long awaited book.My son is the same age as Ben and it's taken a long time for this condition to be recognised. At last a book that helps parents with school age children. A book that made me laugh and cry yet reassured me as a parent I'm not the only one going through this. I take my hat off to Ben for being able to write such a book to help others. Once I started reading I could not stop, in fact stayed up until 4.00am to read it all. A brilliant book with really good advice.
In Isabelle's Mind.......2005-07-31
I really thought that this book is brilliant. My younger sister Isabelle, she is 9, has A.D.H.D and I never quite understood her. I have at many times told her that she was stupid and that I wished she was never born. She has put a large burden on our family in many ways, yet when I read this book it opended my eyes. It has taught me how to deal with Isabelle in a way that works best for her. I have tried to read books written by doctors and experts on the subject but those made me feel like she was even more "less normal" than I thought, and that I would never understand her. I am so thankful for this book and the opportunities it has opened up for Isabelle and me. I can finally see one of her crazy fits for what it really is, an expression of love.
