Book Description
Composed by the famous Indian sage sometime between the first and third centuries CE, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali sets forth the practical and philosophical foundations of Raja Yoga. These aphorisms clearly mark out the path to Self-Realization, and their influence has been profound throughout the millennia. They are still regularly used today by those interested in the Yogic approach to self-knowledge and are open to anyone of any religion. The Sutras are presented here in a free form translation, with an insightful running commentary that makes them easily understandable to the modern reader and yoga practitioner.
Book Description
Dogs have always been natural yogis, and their tranquility of mind, ability to be in the moment, and contented outlook are widely considered to be the result of their long and devoted practice of doga. Dogis Benny, Buster, and Cricket practiced in obscurity for years, perfecting their dogic principles. Now at last they reveal the powerful secrets of doga. Many of the movements and positions of doga can inspire and assist humans in their own yoga practice. Doga presents the major asanas or postures, from the Downward-Facing Dog to the relaxing Happy Puppy and restorative Pup's Pose. Each stretch is demonstrated by one of the dogis, with accompanying text to help people adapt positions to their own practice. Also included are breathing techniques such as the hot breath, or pant, and tips on practicing with your own dogi. Anyone who does yoga or owns a dog is sure to find inspiration in these pages. On the path to health and inner harmony, Doga shows the way.

Doggie Yoga.......2007-10-11
This was a relatively cute book, but please beware that it is not truly instructional and is not meant to teach one how to facilitate a Doggie Yoga class. This book would make a good gift for the yoga aficionado who also loves dogs and might be entertaining for a few minutes. I would have preferred to see a greater variety of dogs as well. However, I understand the author's vision in spotlighting only four in order to develop character. I would not pay full price for this book.
Witty book for hip dog owners.......2005-09-01
Quite witty book of photos of young dogs in poses which look like familar yoga poses. It has imaginary commentary from the dogs.
Dog owners who do yoga will bark with delight.
Interesting viewpoint.......2005-02-27
Dogs actually do breath correctly, humans don't unless taught. Dogs stretch when they sense the need, humans don't unless taught. Dogs are amazing to watch, there are many things innate to dogs (and most animals), that humans don't do, but probably should.
Breathing - Humans breath shallow inadequate, terse breaths. Why? Because we've forgotten how to breath correctly.
How do we learn to breath correctly? Well, at birth. Once born the baby should be placed on the mother's chest, before the cord is severed and taught to breath. There, feeling the breath come in and out of the mother, feeling the heart beat, the baby learns to breath. Most mothers will have to ensure THEY are breathing correctly to pass this Vital Information onto the babe.
Since dogs breath naturally, pups are brought close to the mother, umbilical chord usually intact and feel the breathing and the heartbeat and become one with the mother.
Okay... think about it. And that's precisely what this book does, it gets one thinking about things, that perhaps we normally wouldn't take the time nor have the inclination to discover.
I enjoyed the read, it was cute, informative and being a dog owner I could relate.
DOGA is great for Dog Lovers & Yoga fans!.......2004-10-23
This book is really great. I sent it to a friend along with the "DOGA" calendar ... she loved it! She loves dogs and she also does YOGA. You will love this book. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! This is the first time I have actually done a review but this book was well worth it!
Let me think... How can I exploit the yoga craze?.... Doga!.......2004-08-18
I picked up this book expecting it to be yet another crass attempt to exploit the ancient art and science of yoga for personal material gain and, well, I was pretty much right. I imagine this book being dreamed up by a yoga teacher thinking, "Hmmm... How can I make a name for myself in this yoga game and maybe squeeze out a couple bucks while I'm at it?" Perhaps I give too much credit to the author. Though the book contains some cute bits that doggie lovers will surely enjoy, "Doga" adds nothing to either the great bodies of yoga or pet literature. In fact, it may even detract from both. I give the book two stars because, who knows, maybe dogs will enjoy reading "Doga," or chewing it.
Book Description
An essential-and essentially hilarious!-guide to the ancient practice of canine yoga.
One afternoon in her backyard, Gerry Olin Greengrass sat gazing at her dog, Cocoa, as he stretched his forepaws out in front of him and leisurely raised his hindquarters to the sky. It was a position she had seen him assume hundreds of times before, but it was only in this moment that it finally dawned upon her: her dog was practicing yoga!
Thus began Greengrass's journey to discover the what, why, and how of this heretofore undocumented canine spiritual discipline (in a human language, anyway). The glorious result of all of these patient hours spent observing dogs in deepest communion with their inner beings? Bow Wow Yoga-a complete guide to canine yoga for dog and loving master alike.
With detailed instructions on how to assume (and, more im-portant, hold) each of the fundamental canine asanas, accom-panied by illustrations of the poses themselves, Bow Wow Yoga shows dogs how to develop a practice that will fully benefit their doggy minds, bodies, and spirits.
First there was French for Cats, then there was Why Cats Paint . . . now it's time to find out what our dogs are up to!

Book Description
Yoga can reawaken the body to its full potential—and this illustrated introduction creates a complete class for the beginner. Complete with a 60-minute CD that talks students through 22 specially selected postures plus meditations in sequence, this spiral-bound guide is devised for a modern lifestyle and the problems that commonly come along with it, such as backache, neckache, all-around stiffness, tension, and poor concentration. Of course, safety comes first, with side panels explaining the possible contraindications of each pose. The movements range from very easy balances and lunges to standing twists, cobra, and the back-stretching bridge. Each one includes more accessible variations, including advice on props, and an entire chapter covers the mind-breath connection so integral to yoga.

The only rubber molding source.......2002-01-02
This is the only source I have ever found for non-commercial molding of rubberlike compounds. While this 1986 edition does not address possible new developments in this area (Loctite now sells material which appears to be the same as the Devcon product highlighted in the book), it is the only information I have ever seen on creating rubber parts for the home hobbyist and restorer. The chapter on weights and volumes is valuable, as these materials are rather expensive. The metal casting section is similar to others on the market, and is primarily focused on sand casting of aluminum. This limited focus, skimming over most other methods and materials, limits it to a four star rating. If you want to mold rubber parts though, this is IT.
Excellent book, easy to understand. Good buy for the $11.......1999-02-14
An amateur can quickly learn casting techniques to make small and simple metal and rubber parts by following examples and illustrations in this book. The Make it yourself foundry equipments chapter is helpful for beginner to start with this hobby without spending too much money. However, the main technique presented is sand casting, there is not enough examples or info on other casting techniques.

Book Description
Psychologists John and Linda Friel have written an enormously readable and infinitely practical book that digs into some of the worst mistakes that parents make, with suggestions on how parents can change immediately. The Friels examine the seven most ineffective and self-defeating behaviors that parents display again and again. Working from the ideas that even small changes can have big results, the authors give parents concrete steps they can take to end the behaviors and improve the quality of their parenting. Whether readers are contemplating starting a family, have children who haven't entered school yet, are struggling with rebellious teenagers, or are empty-nesters wondering how they can be better parents to their grown children, they can't afford not to read this book. With the same clarity and concrete examples that have sold over 350,000 copies of their books, the Friels offer readers forty years of combined experience as practicing psychologists, and fifty years of combined experience as blended-family parents. This material has been field-tested in the authors' own household, with hundreds of their clients, and with thousands of their workshop and Clearlife Clinic participants. It will cause immediate changes in parents' behavior, and immediate improvement in the lives of their children.
Customer Reviews:
Please read this book.......2006-12-19
Topics covered: Baby Your Child, Put Your Marriage Last, Push Your Child into Too Many Activities, Ignore Your Emotional or Spiritual Life, Be Your Child's Best Friend, Fail to Give Your Child Structure, and Expect Your Child to Fulfill Your Dreams are the other "worst" things to do according to this book.
Parents from each generation have probably made errors with different things, but for today's parents, this book highlights many of the current parenting problems. Adults who are 30+ still living at home, adults in college who spend money like water and are racking up a load of debt. Adults who at work feel entitled and compain if they have to work extra hours, and feel slighted if they are not awarded at work for every little thing they do...etc. (Many think the focus on "self esteem" was the beginning of today's parenting problems)
The best advice is that you need to be a parent now and not worry about being your child's friend. When they are parents themselves, they will finally understand things from your point of view as a parent and you can be friends then.
Reading this book is really eye opening and if you follow the suggestions in the book, parenting will really be a lot easier. I have personally made many of these changes with my kids and it really makes parenting so much more enjoyable.
I'd also recommend John Rosemond, A Family of Value.
Can I borrow a feeling?.......2004-05-02
The book is a strange amalgam of sensible parenting advice, delivered from the minds of two people awash in liberal insanity. For example the authors are John C. Friel Ph.D. and Linda D. Friel M.A. It is really helpful to know their middle initials. Inspires confidence - kind of like an extra degree. Well if this Joe Q. Blow were to hunker down on the Friels' therapy sofa, lets just say he'd have a few problems. For starters, the Friels start the therapy by doing a "feelings check" You are presented with a list of "healthy human feelings" : anger, sadness, joy, shame, hurt, loneliness. Then you are supposed to "ground" yourself in the "moment" by introspecting for them and reporting which of these emotions you are currently feeling. Strangely the only positive "healthy emotion" on this list is "joy" which, as far as I can tell, is not a sustainable adult emotion, any more than glee is a sustainable adult emotion. The list may as well have been Angst, Rage, Sullenness, Resentment, Hatred, Delight. "Where are you on this list, Joe?" "...Gee... I dunno... I don't even know what you mean by 'joy'..."
"Tsk, tsk. This is getting more and more common. So many emotionally shut down people outta touch with their feelings alla time. This poor soul don't even know what joy is."
Great advice and easy book to read & understand.......2002-08-14

Chapter 12: Some Final Parenting Thoughts
In this book, I agreed much of what the authors wrote about how to avoid the 7 mistakes. There was a few tips of advice that I disagreed with such as putting your child to bed at the same time everynight with NO exceptions such as watching fireworks.
Great Parenting Book.......2002-01-09
The authors explains the 7 worst things parents do:
Baby Your Child
Put Your Marriage Last
Push Your Child INto Too Many Activities
Ignore Your Emotional or Spiritual Life
Be Your Child's Best Friend
Fail to give Your Child Structure
Expect Your Child to Fulfil Your Dreams
I rated it 4 stars because I felt that the topics weren't throughly discussed on how we can avoid falling in one of the 7 traps.
Education dilemma between parents solved!.......2000-10-13
My husband and I had very different point of views concerning education... We agreed on how to raise our son, but he felt a lot of guilt in disciplining is 9 year old who never had any rules, structure, and boundaries in her young life. This book helped him understand that discipline equals love and explained the ABC of parenting very well by showing the direct effect of behaviors through simple examples. We all fall into pitfalls trying to do our best, but it can be hard sometimes and this book reinforce our conviction that we are our children's guides and we must prepare them to live in society.
