Customer Reviews:
Bravo, Mr. Maxwell.......2007-05-07
I have been a hobbiest for the better part of 30 years. I have had several small breeding projects from carpet pythons to bearded dragons and have collected a large library on the subject. I have never encountered a more informative and beautifully illustrated reptile husbandry book as this one. From it's natural history to a complete guide to the proper care and breeding of this magnificent reptile, this book covers it all. The photographs of the different color variations are unbelievable. The GTP is without a doubt the most beautiful of all snakes and this book illustrates that fact well. I particularly appreciated the chapters about the authors' enclosures and environmental controls and the method he uses to identify and catalog each hatchling. If you are considering a breeding project or just love these beautiful animals, this book is a must.
Great, informative, well of knowledge about GTPs, the best!.......2007-02-22
Beautiful pictures, very good looking issue, but these are just minor things. The best about this book is the amount of information that one can get. It provides full coverage of the subject. History of certain morphs, localities, descriptions, practical suggestions. Masterpiece.
Bible for Chondro (Green Tree Python) lovers, keepers, breeders........2006-07-16
A well wrote, personal account and gathering of information, advice, methods, statistics and facts for the keeping, breeding and general knowlege of the Green Tree Python.
Buy this book BEFORE buying a Green Tree Python and you will have a much better understanding of all aspects of these animals and their captive husbandry.
BUT also buy this book if you already have these snakes.
As it is written in a personal way there are more honest views and opinions yet the author still explains other peoples views and leaves things for you to decide whilest trying to point everyone in the best presently known direction.
Rick.

Book Description
The Green Snake and the Beautiful Lily is one of the most important stories of the Anthroposophic and Rosicrucian streams. It is a timeless, allegorical tale of initiation and had a profound impact on Rudolf Steiner and on the formulation of his teachings. He called the fairy tale a kind of "secret revelation," an "apocalypse." As the authors point out in The Time Is At Hand! Goethe's fairy tale begins with a specific image: a river separating two lands that contrast to each other, as do the sensory world and the spiritual world. The story ends with a bridge, created through sacrifice, that spans the river between the two lands.
Indeed, Rudolf Steiner was so deeply impressed by Goethe's fairy tale, that he used it as the model for his own first mystery drama, The Portal of Initiation. It is said that, prior to its first performance, he told friends, "I know how long and deeply you have loved Goethe's fairy tale, and today I am happy to tell you that you will see it performed on stage."
The twelve paintings in this book represent the soul experiences of the "Youth" in the fairy tale. These images are the fruit of an intense collaboration between the artist Hermann Linde and Rudolf Steiner, who commissioned the work. Steiner visited Linde's studio every day and gave him detailed indications for the treatment of the various motifs. The result is this beautifully illustrated, full-color book.
This is a fairy tale for meditationand for building bridges of the soul and spirit.

The Rosicrucian Fairy Tale.......2007-05-09
Steeped in symbolism both evident and obscure, haunting to the memory and both quaint and noble in its imagery is Goethe's miniature masterpiece of a fairy tale in the German romantic tradition. This is a tale that must be worked with, a superficial reading will find the tale tedious and pointless by the average reader. To those that appreciate the western esoteric tradition there is much food for thought here. In many ways I think of this as Goethe's "Magic Flute"- a Rosicrucian, possibly Masonic inspired fable for personal transformation. Marjorie Spock's (sister of the famous Dr. B. Spock of child rearing fame) work, "The Art of Goethean Conversation" is a set piece to a greater understanding of this fable. Enobled human speech, deeds and thoughts are keys to transforming society.
Though appreciated for many years by Anthroposophists and other students of Rudolf Steiner's thought, this work will never find broad appreciation. But if it serves to introduce one to the genius that was Goethe, then its esoteric intention has been fulfilled.
About the book and essay.......2006-01-19
A group of people live in a world turned upside down. They realise that the efforts of one alone can do little to create a new society. But by waking up to each other at the right time, they bring about profound spiritual and social renewal.
Goethe originally told this magic tale in a group of travellers during the French Revolution. Today, this magic still sparkles in Thomas Carlyle's original translation. Michael Burton's play invites you to enjoy the tale afresh through his punchy dialogue.
Jay Ramsay writes that this ' ... inspiring script is a genuine contribution, combining the grace of the original fairy tale with a brilliant use of the modern idiom.' And when the Green Snake is asked by the Gold King, 'What is more quickening than light?' she replies, 'Conversation!' We come alive when meeting each other in real dialogue. Marjorie Spock's Art of Goethean Conversation shows how true conversation has transformative power.
This book was published specially for the 1998-99 European Tour of the Mask Studio's production of The Green Snake, a new play inspired by Goethe's fairy tale. It also meets readers' requests for the Spock essay and Carlyle translation in an accessible form.
A fairy tale for adults rich in imagery and symbolism.......2005-02-06
In the finest tradition of tales of adults this story is filled with rich symbolish and imagery. It can be read and re-read and never exhaused.

Excellent Read Aloud Book For Ages 2-6.......2005-11-09
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to read to young children. The snappy, rhyming text, alliteration, spunky illustrations and mildly mischievous main character make it a book that young children ask to hear over and over again!
My Favorite Children's Story.......1999-06-29
Looking for a great book to read to a child? I've been reading this one since my son was 1! Great fun to read and lots of lessons to learn. Beautiful illustrations.
Book Description
This booklet is about the responsible care and maintenance of the most readily available invertebrate-eating snakes. (That's right, no mice!) These beautiful snakes are sold in pet stores at prices that invite neglect, and most are dead within 3 to 6 months. Their care is best described as requiring methods that are a cross between snake keeping and lizard keeping. The rough green snake is one of the most beautiful and enjoyable of all the North American snakes to keep in captivity, and a genuine affection for these snakes was the primary reason for the writing of this book. If you buy the snake, buy the book. 14 pp. B&W photos.
Customer Reviews:
Too Basic, No Info.......2004-02-04
If you have even the most basic herp knowledge, this book will disappoint you. This book does not do justice to the rough green snake and reads like a report submitted by a second grader. Don't waste your money!
Book Description
Hiss, hiss! Sid the snake isn't feeling so good. Will he, his slithery friends, and his mom figure out why? It's a big surprise!
Customer Reviews:
silly snake.......2005-05-14
Sid the Snake starts to lose his skin one day. He thinks that he is sick. He tells his friends and mother. When he tells him mom she explains that snakes shed their skin and that just means that he is growing up.
The book was quick and easy to read. Young readers will enjoy the cute illustrations.
I would recommend this book to kids 5-8. It is part of the "Green Light Reader" series. It also included fun activities and questions to ask after reading.

A Marvelous Tome on Morelia Viridis.......2004-10-16
I absolutely love this book.
The Complete Chondro is literally 'in a nutshell,' not 'all' you need to know about green tree pythons, but a great source of information in one book. The book is written by well known breeder Greg Maxwell from his own experience and features everything from history of how this wonderful snake came to the United States, locality types, what you need for this type of snake along with breeding and many other helpful things. There are numerous images of this beautiful snake, from pictures of neonates to various moprhs of adults. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in Green Tree Pythons or herps in general! The author is honest and ethical - truly a treasure!

Since it's first printing a decade ago, Learning to Weave has become the standard text book for both teachers and self-taught weavers. All you need to know is here including warping, reading and designing drafts, and the basics of weave structures. Warping back to front is included as well as updated resource lists.
Customer Reviews:
Best for new weavers.......2007-02-24
This book is a excellent teaching tool for beginner weavers and a solid resource for experienced weavers. I highly recommend it (and so does the expert weaver who is teaching me).
Learning to Weave by Deborah Chandler.......2007-02-13
Deborah Chandler is a great teacher and it shows in her writing of this book. If I was to buy only 1 book on beginning handweaving with a floor loom THIS book would be the one!
great purchase.......2007-02-11
This book was very helpful and in great condition. A great purchase!
excellent for self teaching.......2007-02-10
I bought this book on the recommendation of a weaving friend. I taught myself using the book. I highly recommend it. I knew little or nothing about weaving before I started, and I have "warped a loom" twice using it. There were almost no questions I had that weren't answered in the book, and the authors style is reassuring and comfortable.
A Book for all Weavers - from Beginners to Old Pro's .......2007-01-03
Even if you've never woven before, this book explains every aspect of weaving in such a clear and friendly way that you'll have the confidence you need to get started, even on your own. The author breaks down every step from project planning and warping, to reading weaving drafts with clear explanations, drawings and photos. Even for experienced weavers it is an excellent resource book with a reed substitution chart, sett chart and troubleshooting chart listing problems with possible causes and solutions. This is the book that all of my beginning weaving students use and actually enjoy reading.

Book Description
A. J. Downing (1815-1852) wrote the first American treatise on landscape gardening. As editor of the Horticulturist and the country's leading practitioner and author, he promoted a national style of landscape gardening that broke away from European precedents and standards. Like other writers and artists, Downing responded to the intensifying demand in the nineteenth century for a recognizably American cultural expression.
To Live in the New World examines in detail Downing's growing conviction that landscape gardening must be adapted to the American people and the nation's indigenous landscapes. Despite significant changes in its three editions, Downing's A Treatise on the Theory and Practice of Landscape Gardening, remained true to the original intent: to guide country gentlemen--with enough money, time, and taste--in the creation of ideal homes and pleasure grounds. While most historians and critics have focused on Downing's more formally written treatise, Judith Major gives equal emphasis to Downing's spirited monthly editorials in the Horticulturist. In the journal, Downing "spoke American" and encouraged his countrymen and women to practice economy, to use America's rich natural resources wisely yet artfully, to be content with a little cottage and a few fine native trees.
Although the book is not a biography, the people, events, and experiences that shaped Downing's thinking on landscape gardening are central to the story. Significantly, Downing spent his life in the spectacular natural setting of the Hudson River valley. Through his professional practice, travels, reading, and extensive correspondence, he gradually became aware of the individual and collective needs that he served. Landscape gardening, Downing came to feel, had to respect not only a client's desires and means, but also the nation's republican values of moderation, simplicity, and civic responsibility. Major takes a fresh look at the influence on Downing's theory and practice of British writers such as Archibald Alison, Uvedale Price, Humphry Repton, John Claudius Loudon, and John Ruskin, and analyzes for the first time his debt to the French academician A. C. Quatremère de Quincy's Essay on Imitation.

Become the Parent You Always Wanted to Be! This book contains straight talk about what it means to be a committed parent in today's world. It will challenge you and make you a more effective parent. It will help you reduce stress in your parenting life and bring increased harmony to your family.
Customer Reviews:
Very easy to read, understand and apply in real life........2007-05-17
I found this book to be extremely inspirational and thought provoking. I was thrilled with the way each commitment is described and then explained and how each of the 10 commitments has real life examples to demonstrate the "how to" of the commitment. This is a very good book!
Such pleasure watching my children's faces........2005-05-29
I have three teenagers. This book has helped me gain parenting skills I never knew existed. Putting the commitments into practice has helped our home atmosphere beyond belief...I love watching my teens' faces when they make choices for themselves and they bask in the pride of their own decisions. This perfect purse size book goes with me everywhere and is always available for me at swim meets, shopping malls, or anywhere I need a reminder to Parent with Purpose.
A valuable tool for parents.......2005-05-14
The 10 Commitments offers parents wonderful perspectives and useful insights to raising good kids. The authors write with a warmth, humanity, and common sense that makes the book readable, practical, and a feel-good experience. Every parent would benefit from adhering to the 10 Commitments. A worthwhile read from writers who truly care about children and family.
Truly Commit to Your Role as Parent.......2005-04-28
Prior to the birth of our children, mothers frequently pass the days of our pregnancies studying "what to expect" books and manuals, pondering each passing phase and development. However, many new parents find themselves swamped once the child arrives, and parenting manuals frequently gather dust on the bookshelves as well intentioned moms and dads struggle just to keep everyone fed, clothed and relatively clean. By the time our children reach school age, most of us are so busy driving them to their various activities that we take little time for parenting enrichment.
One new resource for parents, the latest book by Chick Moorman and Thomas Haller, The 10 Commitments: Parenting with Purpose (Personal Power Press, December 2004, hardcover, 157 pages), is well worth the time of any parent. In this book, the authors challenge parents to adopt a new approach - "grace-full" parenting. Using real-life examples and practical ideas, the book lays forth ten commitments every parent should make towards putting the role of parent and the family unit at the top of one's priority list. Regardless of the age or number of children in your family, the book is a sound and inspiring primer and a reminder of the importance of truly engaging in our job and blessing as parents.

The Ultimate Parenting Manual.......2005-01-10
An excellent manual for parenting that is as engaging to read as a novel. The "10 Commitments" are parenting goals that can be applied to children at any age. Each chapter outlines a commitment followed by examples we all can relate to. The authors then ask challenging questions that require careful analysis of your reactions to your child's behavior.
The small dimensions of the book make it easy to carry in a purse or briefcase so it can be used as a reference, which you will want to do after you have read it! No parent should be without it!
