    A very informative book if you are looking to determine when your Madame Alexander doll was made and how much it might be worth. Full of great color pictures and a lot of good information on Madame Alexander dolls. The 1999 price guide in the back (which only gives prices for the dolls shown in the book) is very helpful in determining the value of the dolls.

The book is done in sections, telling about the different faces used and lists those that are in that catagory. At the back of the book is listed prices for the dolls, which is great if you are buying or in on auction of Madame Alexnder Dolls. This book will wet your appetite to try and obtain some of the older dolls. A great buy and addition to your library..

      I purchased this book specifically to look up the value of my 1991 limited edition porcelain bride and the porcelain collection wasn't even listed. This listing is not complete and poorly organized.

      This book is full of good information. It has lists of (seemingly) every Madame Alexander doll ever made. It has relatively accurate pricing (although be aware that online auctions often make such price guides irrelevant). My only quibble is that I wish it had many more pictures than it does, so as to make identifying dolls easier. Other than that, it's a fine book.

      I am just getting back into collecting Madame Alexander dolls. I have been collecting Barbie for the last 10 years and had a MA collection which I sold about 2 years ago. I think this is a great book with an extensive list of dolls. The only thing keeping it from getting 5 Stars is that there are not that many style numbers. For instance, there are so many Spain & Mexico dolls, I can't really tell which I have, by looking at this book. Maybe the next book, he'll list style numbers. Otherwise, I think it's great.

                I recommend this book to any parent, whether just beginning the process or several years into the experience. I did not purchase it until my son was five, but I've learned a lot from it. Now, instead of panicking every time he challenges me, I remember what I've learned and go from there. Wish someone had recommended it to me earlier. I can see myself changing into a more positive parent, instead of a negative one. The book does take it step-by-step as the title indicates. Every page has so much information on it, I still refer back to it again and again.
