good book.......2003-04-17
lots of good information in here displayed in an easy to read style that makes it easy to read. some of the advice contradicts things said in other books however, so I'd reccommend having more than just this to help you with your rottie. otherwise, a great book.
Great introduction to a wonderful breed........2001-09-21
I got my Rott as a surprise gift from my wife and really wasn't sure if I was ready for a dog after my favorite dog died. And because of my misconceptions about the species, thought I should read up on them. I really learned a tremendous amount about the Rottweiller and realied what a great dog they are. Now my Rott has really shown me how smart, obedient, and loyal they are and this book really helped me with a lot of the fine points of bringing up my dog.

I believe this book is an excellent reference material to be read by any one even thinking about buying a rottweiler whether they want a puppy or an adult. It will better help you understand what type of dog the breed is and what is required of you as an owner to raise a well behaved and happy rottie. The book explains the breed to you, gives advise on what will be required of you to raise a happy, healthy, well adjusted rottie. One that will be excepted by the public and will be a loved well mannered part of your family. It explains all aspects of owning, raising, and training a rottie in clear simple form that any one will be able to understand and apply to their own new found friend. So if your interested in owning a rottweiler take the time to read this book and make sure their the dog for you before you buy that cute adorable puppy.

This is a wonderful book for any quilter that loves applique or would like to learn the art of hand work! The instructions are very easy to follow and the patterns are fantastic! Anyone who purchases this book will find themselves addicted to these little blocks! Don't let the 4" size scare you off.....the blocks can be resized to suit your comfort zone.

The entire book is beautiful! The instructions are easy to understand and the blocks come out easily. This quilt can be done in other colors and it also shows how to make smaller quilts. It is truely a great buy.

I once thought I hated applique - but after trying the newer techniques I love to applique. The designs in this book are a treasure and varied. You can use your favorite colors and easily do it your way. i can see a future of a great number of varied Dutch Treat quilts being made. there is even a Email group of quilters doing these blocks.

This is definitely a must-have for Appliquéers in the quilting world. Judy has given great instructions for recessed (reverse) appliqué with clear and concise pictures to go by. The little blocks are wonderful. Some of the blocks can be a challenge but oh so rewarding when finished. You won't regret purchasing this book.

This is a great book. I love all the designs. It is a must have for quilters who like recessed (reverse) applique and love to do hand work. I have not done much recessed applique and Judy's instructions are great and easy to follow. Don't let the 4 inch blocks scare you away!

This book provides an overview of a number of houses built by the Dutch colonist and their descendants in the former colony New Netherland. Beautiful photo's and an extensive historical description of eacht house and its area.

This is one of may favorite books featuring authentic Dutch colonials.
The pictures are wonderful as well as the text.
I had no idea as to the contribution the Dutch had not only in architecture but to the development of the country.
There are many distinctions in their details. There are also many commonalities. I've been able to sort through and incorporate some simple but memorable treatments in one of my projects thanks to this book.
It's a great reference for ideas as well as history and I turn to it often as of late.
wonderful visuals!!.......2002-10-15
This book contains some of the best visuals I have seen in quite a long time. The useage of lateral light to bring out texture, color, and ambience is striking. The authors have succedded in isolating commonplace daily scenes found in everything from common humble surroundings to the grandest settings. All scenes are presented equally well, and ,most important, in a new manner- Thus allowing the contemporary viewer to more than glimpse into the past. The visuals are accompainied with an informative, very readable text to greatly aid the reader in interpretation of the scenes depicted. Well done!
great book on a little known subject.......2002-09-27
The material culture of the Dutch in America has always been misunderstood, mis-interrupted, and ignored. Now a book which gives visual evidence of the major contributions of the Dutch in the New World- how this culture in large part contributed to the newly emerging American culture and society.
This is a must read for anyone interested in early American history as well as the colonial era.

This book contains twelve essays by prominent historians from the Netherlands, Belgium and the United States on the early Enlightenment in the Dutch Republic. In the wake of the increased awareness of the importance of this particular period for the European Enlightenment as a whole, they focus on Cartesianism, Spinozism and Empiricism, the three main schools of thought that made up its philosophical profile. The first part of the book highlights the academic infrastructure of the Dutch Republic and the theological response to the Radical Enlightenment. The second and third parts concentrate on the philosophical and the scientific developments in the Dutch Republic from 1650 to 1750. The final part of this book deals with the international proliferation of the Dutch Radical Enlightenment and with the way in which its main protagonists have been ignored by Dutch historiography.
