Book Description
Women-and men-of all ages are learning how to knit. Knitters, especially the new ones, enjoy easy-to-make projects that can be completed in a short time. Pets are equally popular in our modern society. Pet owners who often indulge their animals with special treats and accessories will like these easy and quick-to-make designer-quality dog sweaters. These projects can be completed in a weekend, an evening, while watching television, or during an airport layover. They are simple enough to be a first knitting project for a beginning knitter. Design variations and embellishments add the personal touch, and can make each design a more challenging project for an experience knitter.
Additionally, the small size of the projects in this book makes them ideal to tuck into a purse or tote bag, so that they can be worked on at odd moments during the day when the knitter finds a few free moments.

Very Disappointed.......2007-08-18
Some patterns are not accurate, looking at the picture. Page 48, the pattern is completely different than what is shown in the picture. I've been knitting for over 50 years, and this is the worst waste of $25.00 for a pattern book I have ever come across. I emailed the publisher, but have yet to hear back.
Stylish Knits for Dogs.......2007-03-16
This book is great! I have never made a sweater before. And totally understood the patterns and had excellent results for my little grandpuppy. Highly recommend this book. It's great fun.
Stylish Knits for Dogs by Ilene Hochberg.......2007-02-20
Thanks to this book I have the best dressed dogs in town. All four of them look great in thier fashionable sweaters. Easy to follow instruction, full color pictures, some mom and pup creations too. I leave it on my coffee table so others can look at it and admire the fun filled pages of "Stylish Knits for Dogs".
Great Patterns.......2007-01-12
These instructions were clearly written and there is a pattern for every size doggy.
Very Disappointed!.......2007-01-08
I purchased this book based on the cover photo on your site---I especially wanted to make the little blue sweater with the panda bear and the darker blue one with the teddy bear on it. When I received the book it turns out that none of the sweaters in the photo you placed on the site are in the book! I cannot return it because there are no returns on pattern books! VERY DISAPPOINTING!!
Book Description
Henry and his 180-pound dog Mudge are best friends forever. And in this eleventh book of their adventures they build a glorious indoor castle with knights and kings.
Customer Reviews:
Very sweet reminder of what REALLY matters.......2005-11-28
I really like this book--how the parents think that Henry is important enough for their time and energy, how they eat pizza, how the dog just chews a boot and is a sweet, goofy dog. Rylant captures "real" family life and the importance of our kids, and I thank her for that.
2nd Graders in Lockport LOVE the Henry and Mudge stories!.......2000-02-26
Our names are Luisa, Casey, Tom, Joshua, Tim, Megan, Alex, and Janae. We read Henry and Mudge and the Long Weekend. Here is our summary of the book: Henry and Mudge got up one Saturday Morning in February and looked outside. The weather was disgusting. They couldn't go outside and there was nothing to do. Everything was boring to Henry and Mudge. They were so bored that Henry and Mudge went to sleep on the couch with Dad. Henry's mother had the idea to make a castle out of the big refrigerator and stove boxes. Henry, Mom, and Dad started making the castle. Mom drew, Dad cut, Henry stapled, and Mudge chewed an old boot. The family woke up the next morning and started to work on the castle. Mom read the newspaper and drank coffee. Henry and his father finished the castle. They showed it to Mom. It looked nice. It looked like a real castle. Mom, Dad, Henry, and Mudge had a good weekend!
This is a great book!.......2000-01-22
I love the story line. A family working together on a yukky weekend minus the TV to do something fun. I esp. loved the picture of mom sitting at the table reading the paper while dad and son were building the castle in the basement. My kindergartener loved it! We will definitely read more of these books!

The wisdom of the Trashman.......2001-05-04
A long-awaited feast: several of Mark's stories in a single pub. After partaking you'll feel glutted, uncomfortable, and disturbingly aware of your animal nature. It's great, important stuff. Thanks.
A Hysterical Look at the Human Condition.......2001-04-08
Wisniewski writes with a hilarious cynicism. There is the hot woman who at her peril, ignores her baby to cheer on her team, the small-time gambler who nails his bookie roommate's girlfriend in her hour of need, and the musical beds of ravenous college men and women. Story after story speaks of unconsummated love, such as the man who, on the verge of nailing the cashier, loses his prophylactic in the sheets! The stories are short and captivating, the dialogue sharp and very credible. Read it. You won't be disappointed.
A Hysterical Look at the Human Condition.......2001-04-08
Once again, Wisniewski does it! He writes with hilarious cynicism. There is the hot woman who, at her peril, ignores her baby to cheer on her team, the small-time gambler who nails his roommate's girlfriend, and the musical beds of ravenous college men and women. Story after story speaks of unconsummated love, such as the man who, on the verge of scoring with the cashier, loses his prophylactic in the sheets! Read it. The stories are short and captivating, the dialogue sharp and credible. You won't be disappointed.
A Writer From Milwaukee.......2001-02-23
Once again, Mark Wisniewski delivers the goods. He's a stalking tiger, a python, a charging rhino. This book of stories is beyond magnificent. Every story is unique and intriguing. Don't miss this keeper!
A Must-Read!.......2001-02-14
I loved Mark Wisniewski's first collection of short stories. His writing is sharp, funny, intelligent, and insightful. He approaches the human condition (our failures and triumphs) with grace, dignity, and a healthy dose of irony. I read it straight through and laughed out loud along the way. No one does it better.

This book is the best around on the subject........1998-09-17
i bought this book in hardback when it first came out and bought paperback copies to give to friends. it is the only book i know of that really goes into depth on the dog that is left alone most of the time. i wish it was back in print.
Best book for working owners of dogs.......1998-01-24
This is my favorite book dealing with the challenges of keeping _any_ dog (puppy or grown) when you're working 8-5 M-F or are gone from the house for long periods. She has wonderful ideas for solutions to challenging problems and several interesting, insightful case studies. It's a real shame this book is out of print; it was famous in the rec.pets.dogs Internet newsgroup for years. It would sell like hotcakes if it went back into print.
Book Description
Join Sam, Dog Detective, on her fifth funny adventure as she enjoys a little family holiday at the Grand Hotel. And what could be more exciting than the bustling lobby of a big hotel? Guests arrive, people meet - and signals are exchanged. For Sam, this can mean only one thing: spies, and lots of them! Everyone seems awfully suspicious, what with envelopes being passed back and forth, people creeping out of guests' rooms and secretly using the back stairs. Something's definitely up, and Sam is sure to figure it out - if only Jennie and Beth will help her.

Brush: Giving Grown Ups the Brush Off.......2001-05-23
"Brush" is my favorite "little boy" book, although it's perfectly wonderful for little girls too. I buy it in bulk when it's available in print (it's sometimes very hard to find) and give it as presents whenever I can. "Brush" reaffirms the magic of childhood and gently reminds parents that they really don't know it all.
When a little boy's naughty dog misbehaves, his parents insist he give it away (that is still the harshest part to swallow). Heartbroken, the little one searches for a replacement among his family funriture. He finally settles on an old scrub brush, which he adopts as his pet. He inists that it is real and takes it (on a leash) everywhere with him. The grown ups in his life balk at this charade and chide him for his frivolous imagination. But he does not despair. One evening when his family is in danger, Brush saves the day, proving that things are not always what they seem. Fortunately, the parents admit their shortsightedness and embrace Brush as one of their own. I love this book because it is at once kooky, sweet, funny, and poignant. We grown ups don't know it all. And listening to our children opens up worlds of wonder that we might never experience if we don't really listen to what they have to say.

Misleading Title On Cover.......2003-02-22
While the quality of the book is fine, the printed title on the cover is deceptive ("1000 Robots, Spaceships, & Tin Toys"). Robots and spaceships are only a very small fraction of the "1000" pictures.
Apparently, the book was formerly titled, "1000 Tin Toys" which is much more accurate.
More than a tin soldier.......1997-04-12
More than a tin soldier.
1000 Tin Toys by Teruhisa Kitahara, photographed by Yuko Shimizu.
Call this book the mother of all collecting books. It is a vast compendium of photographs of 1,000
tin toys collected by obsessive Japanese master collector Teruhisa Kitahara. A visual
feast of full-color photos that gives one pause to consider Kitahara's life work of
collecting. Truth be told, an inspiration for artists, designers, photographers, tin toy
collectors, and children of any age. Why would anyone want to own this book? For
the same reason that anyone would collect over 1000 tin toys- the sheer delight of it.

Important Work, Controversial Subject.......2007-04-05
Of this book William Robinson (author of The Wild Garden and The English Flower Garden (1883)) wrote "It is the poorest book that so far has disgraced the garden." While I have the greatest respect for Robinson, and am often appalled by sheared work, I must disagree. Yes, topiary and otherwise sheared yew and box are grossly overseen, and often in inappropriate settings, such as the ubiquitous biscuit-bushes in front of so many otherwise barren. But still it has its proper place. As does this book, for historians and theorists of the garden, as well as those looking to add such formal elements to their lands. Note that this is not an ideal first book to purchase on this topic; there are more modern, easier, well-illustrated books to help one with the design and mechanics of adding sheared and other formal elements, such as "Creating Formal Gardens," by Roy Strong. The author's grandson, Christopher Lloyd, who also wrote the preface to this edition, and continued to garden and shear yew on his inherited estate until his death in 2007, is one of the greatest garden theorists and writers ever.

Book Description
Can ideas and approaches current in mainstream archaeology be made to work in the conservative world of classical archaeology? This volume seeks to explore theoretical frameworks, methodology and field practice suited to the late antique Mediterranean. Broad themes such as long-term change, topography, the economy and social life are covered, but in terms of specific issues and evidential problems currently being tackled by scholars of late antiquity. This book will be useful to students and researchers seeking to enrich their approaches to Mediterranean historical archaeology and to anyone wishing to possess an overview of the current state of late antique archaeology.
