Good but not as colorful as I'd hoped........2007-08-24
The book, words, and illustrations are all beautiful. Some of the illustrations are a little less colorful than I'd hoped for. It is a good quality book. There is a prologue that gives a history of where the poem originally came from, which is great.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I really appreciated the illustrations/pictures. I purchased 4 and gave them as gifts. One of the receivers of the book was a 4 year old grandchild,the others were to young to appreciate but one day they will. The one being 4 years old, actually sat quietly listening to the story and loved looking at the illustrations. I would definitely choose this book again. The cover is gorgeous. The bookmark is beautiful and these grandchildren will have the book for their lifetime and will be able to pass it on to their children one day. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone. I found the price to be extemely reasonable, the cover absolutely beautiful and the quality of the content wonderful.
Heirloom Book.......2007-01-11
This book was a great buy. The book binding is excellent, nice size print and great colorful illustrations. I was pleasantly suprised that the book even came with a ribbon type book marker with a gold tone stocking on the end of the ribbon, making it very easy to find the marked page.
Over all I was pleased with my purchase of this book. I was going to keep it for myself, but its such a nice book, that I have decided to keep it a few years, read it to my grand daughter at christmas time, and then eventually give to her as a gift from grandpa.

I bought this book to replace my old copy that was lost during a recent move. The book is finely illustrated but the narrative is so full of gaping wounds that the entire charm of the story is lost. I should have searched a little harder for a COMPLETE version.
A Choppily Abridged Carol.......2004-12-27
Although the artwork in this book is great, readers should be warned that the text is a heavy-handed abridgement of Charles Dickens's wonderful little novel. It omits far too much of the rich and colorful language of this stirring novelette.

Blessed Gardens loves Dawson's Herbs.......2007-09-04
Adele Dawson's "Herbs: Partners in Life" is a great garden companion. There is much detail on the art of gardening, cooking, and healing with wild plants. It serves itself up as a great read and a source for quick information.
I liked Dawson's voice. She conveyed much reverence--not only for the plants, but for the reader as well. I enjoyed the well-placed historical anecdotes, and came away feeling enriched.
One of my favorite stories centers around the 17th century pastor, Cotton Mather. During his time, if a woman was caught dabbling with herbs, she was accused of witchcraft and often hung or burned at the stake. However, Pastor Mather praised the 'gentlewoman' that kept a closet of 'harmless' herbs. He, himself, encouraged his congregation to chew on the 'Bible leaf' herb, costmary, because it had a stimulant effect and was often the only thing that would keep his listeners awake through his lengthy, and dare I say boring, sermons.
"Herbs: Partners in Life" brims with beautiful and detailed illustrations of each herb and flowering plant. Dawson also provides natural remedies for a spectrum of ailments from high blood pressure to bronchitis, with simple instructions and the occasional song or blessing.

It is nice how she breaks up the book into seasons. Her writing style is friendly and wise. You feel like you are sitting in her kitchen and she is transfering much of her knowledge. Very enjoyable.

In this second edition of Samir Saleh's major work on commercial arbitration in the Arab Middle East, the basic format has been maintained, while the author, drawing upon his intimate knowledge of the region and considerable practical experience as an arbitrator, has completely revised and updated the book so that it offers a fully modern account of domestic commercial arbitration practice, with an international dimension, under the sharia and in Syria, Lebanon and Egypt. The first part of the book, dealing with sharia, continues to draw on the four major sources of sharia, with illustrations taken from the four main Sunni schools that have influenced its development. This part underpins all the remaining chapters which deal in turn with different national systems, building on the discussion by reference to local statutes, judicial precedents and commentaries. Detailed analysis of law and practice is supported by extensive footnoting, guidance on further reading, and insights into the prevailing business practices within each country. For practising lawyers and arbitrators a feature which will be particularly welcome is the inclusion of up-to-date discussion of practice and procedure for the execution and enforcement of domestic and foreign awards, and the legal pitfalls awaiting the unwary. The new edition has also been considerably amplified to include international aspects of arbitration as reflected in judicial decisions and academic commentary in each territory.

The cases are edited and translated by the prominent legal scholar, arbitrator and lawyer Dr. Mohie Eldin I. Alam-Eldin. His in-depth commentary on the thirty-four cases included in this volume encompasses discussion of emerging new arbitral trends and principles, such as the alter ego and contra preferentum doctrines, and new approaches to arbitration engendered by the ever-growing and changing practices and patterns of international trade. He also analyses many of the new issues raised by the decisions of the court of appeal in cases where arbitral awards proved unsatisfactory. Many of these court of appeal decisions are included in the text, as are relevant decisions of the Supreme Court of Egypt.
This second series of cases brought before the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration covers the period 1997-2002, years which witnessed a major growth in confidence in the Centre and a corresponding expansion in scope, procedure, and legal principles. Perhaps most notable among these important developments is the evolution of hybrid procedures that permit the harmonization of legal cultures among parties. In this book will be found a number of cases which successfully blend common law, civil law, and Sharia principles while rigorously adhering to the agreements between the parties, all applicable law, and guarantees of defence.
