All known plated catfish are presented on 144 pages with 650 brilliant color photographs and short introductory text. Besides the genera Aspidoras, Brochis, Corydoras, Callichthys Dianema, Hoplosternum, we show all variants, mutants, hybrids, breeding forms and undescribed forms ("C-numbers"). Simply the Best Reference Books.......2007-01-20
All of the Aqualog books are excellent value, although they are not particularly cheap. They are full to the brim with first class colour photographs and to reproduce these in a book is an expensive process. Whether they are about Corydoras or some other species of fish they are the most comprehensive identification books you can buy. They never become dated because as new fish become available to the aquarist trade the books are updated.
They will not tell you how to set up a tank or what plants or rockwork you need. They will not tell you which filter to use or what type of substrate. They are a fish identification encyclopaedia and nothing more. But for those aquarists who are particularly interested in a particular species they are indispensable.

I have been studying corydoras for 15 years-after buying multiple books thinking they would be of use-they turned out to be a waste of money-except for this bookThe pictures are wonderful-but they can be a little misleading unless you know the markings of the fish-five species look the same unless you put the pictures side by side and not quick glance at them.The ditribution of the fish is very accurate-as well as the description and care. A must have for the beginner and advanced person.
Excellent Book and Authors.......2007-03-08
I have had the pleasure of obtaining this book directly from Ian A. M. Fuller at the "All Aquarium Catfish Convention 2006" in Laurel, Maryland in October 2006. We were also lucky enough to have the book titled "Identifying Corydoradinae Catfish" signed by the Authors of which I believe there are only four signed. They have written another excellent book on the subject of Corydoradinae Catfish. We also have the other that he has written and it is also signed. I feel that any hobbyist that wants the best information available on Corydoradinae Catfish will purchase both of Ian A. M. Fuller's books while they are still available. This book makes an excellent research and reference book for the hobbyist. Any one that wants to further their knowledge of Corydoradinae Catfish needs to purchase this book. I would also recommend that you purchase his other book, if you are lucky enough to obtain it in the new or used book market titled "Breeding Corydoradinae Catfish". We would also recommend doing further research on his website Cordorasworld for the Hobbyist who wants the best in the latest information.
Good book, misleading title.......2006-04-13
Don't get me wrong, this book has a great collection of pictures. But it will not help you identify what species a cory is, at least not any more than the average website. There are virtually no references to similar looking species, nothing that points you to differences between species. I was a little disappointed in the content of the book, I think it is great for what it is, and that is a nice collection of pictures, nothing more.
If you are looking for information to help determine what species of spotted corydoras you have, this book will not help. If you want nice pictures of virtually every species (including all the C numbered) then by all means get this book. I am keeping my copy, just wish is had more details.
Wonderful and Informative.......2006-03-10
The world of the tropical fish hobbyist, particularly that of the Corydora species fan, can be quite confusing these days. There are so many new species discovered and many of them look similar. How to tell them apart? This book goes a long way in helping distinguish the subtle differences of Corydoradinae catfish. This book is not for beginners looking for tips on setting up their first tank. This book is for those looking for information on where these species originate, size, who discovered them and when, and what they look like(including "C" numbers). The photos are excellent and provide helpful identifying markers. This book is jammed with high-quality photos. I strongly recommend this book to all Corydora fans!

A very brief cautionary tale for Cory-cat owners.......2005-07-24
Greetings....this is probably the best book that you will ever read, about these wonderful cute little fish! BUT...Please note: if you have these fish in your home aquarium, make sure the cover of your aquarium is fitted so your fish cannot jump out! Cory-cats are prone to jumping and they can escape out of the smallest gap in your tank lid! Buy this book so that you may learn all about the many different kinds of miniature catfish, because they make lovely pets....Happy fishkeeping! ;>)
The best Mini-Cat book around!.......2000-11-04
As a former manager for a large aquarium shop I purchased a lot of freshwater fish. This was one of my best and favorite reference guides for identification and information about not only the ones I ordered, but the "stow-a-ways" which sometimes sneak in!
Great for the beginner and the experienced keeper as well and well worth the money!
Excellent All Around Book on Catfish Care!.......2000-08-29
Working as a manager in one of the largest aquarium shops in my state several years ago, I had a perfect opportunity to know and use many books. Some were excellent and others a waste of money. This book is an excellent guide to one of my favorite fish...the cat! Different types of cats are pictured in photos or detailed drawings to make identification much easier. Well worth every penny, it is a must for anyone truly interested in their care!
Colored Atlas of Miniature Catfish.......2000-04-18
What a fantastic book! I raise corys and was looking for a book that would give me more information on specific species. This book gives a very in depth description of the spawning process for Corys in general then gives more specifics under the individual species if they differ from the "general". It includes advice about water temperature, PH, and water hardness. It is just what I was looking for and is a valuable resource for anyone who is raising corys for breeding or has them in their tanks "just for fun."

This book covers all of the armored catfish families with most info being on corydoras.It has the anatomy of corydoras and family descriptions.All pictures are in color.Great for a beginner wanting to know basic aquarium keeping and some species id of corydoras and breeding behavior.The book also has species aquarium keeping tips on ph and tips fpr breeding a certain species.

Not for the hobbyist.......2005-04-20
This book is not particularly well suited to the aquarium hobbyist. Its tone tends toward the academic side, with emphasis on classification of different corydoras species. Perhaps even more disappointing from the hobbyist perspective, though, was the organization. The chapters are organized around specific families of corydoras, rather than being topically organized (history, care and feeding, breeding, etc.). That means if you want to find, for example, information on general care and feeding, you can't just flip right to that chapter. Instead, you'll have to search through each page of the book and gather various bits of information as you go.
There's some good basic information in there that can be useful for the aquarist interested in raising corydoras. But it's not any more detailed than what you'll find on the web, and a whole lot harder to locate within the book. There is no index, so if you want to look up a particular species, it's going to take some tedious searching. You may do better searching for obscure species, but I was surprised, for example, to find almost no mention of corydoras julii, which is one of the more common species in stores. I would have expected some discussion of the frequent confusion between trilineatus and julii, for instance. All in all, it doesn't seem like a very practical guide to me, and I wouldn't recommend it unless you're really focused on taxonomy.

This book has some good basic information for the beginner in the corydora hobby. It was one of my first catfish books and helped me to learn some basic information in caring for my fish.

Simple to the Complicted and easy to read and actually do.......2001-05-09
Some people get books like this because they want to see how things are done but rarely do they actually do a project. I on the otherhand am a doer and not just a looker. This book makes doing it easier.
Just over 140 pages long this is a book that really gave me the step by step info on how to both make slipcovers which are a European maindstay as well as how to redo upholdtery of chairs and sofas.
The authors covers everything from what type of fabric to use to preparing it ahead of time re: washing and sizing. On pages 56-66 she gives a step by step with photos instructions on how to do a slipcover for a couch that is of sound construction.
Pages 67 thru 71 a club chair is redone. But it is the tailored slipcovers starting on page 73 which I can do and do well. The Quick Tied cover for a chair on 87 is just perfect for those of us who live the casual California lifestyle or for someone in a small cottage on Marthas Vineyard.
The book covers Materials; Tools and Equipment; Cushions and Pillows; Simple Coverups; Making a Tailored Slipcover; Tailored Slipcover Projects; Quick Upholstery; Reuposletring a Chair; Upoholstery Projects. The issues of padding and stuffing, webbing, tying spring cord, threads, zippers, tacks, welt, sewing and sizing are all covered.
See if your library has the book. Then take your time, and plan well and measure twice and cut once and pin and baste and you will discover that you not only can redo your own furniture but have fun and probably save money as well.
Not a beginners book.......2000-02-24
Unless you have a good working experience of pattern-making, this book probably isn't where you want to begin. The author has assumed a level of expertise that is beyond a very beginner. The ideas are inspiring and it does have some fun ideas, especially in re-building the shape of furniture. But if you need to start from Square-1 then keep looking for a book that will teach you more of the basics. If, however, you are an accomplished seamstress, it won't be difficult for you to have a lot of fun with this book. You can fill in the blanks with some upholstery Q&A websites on-line.

It's quite a practical book. As a professional make of loose covers I am always looking for new techniques, well illustrated. I didn't agree with all the methods, but on the whole, a useful book.

The sewing instructions are so clearly presented that one with minimal sewing experience should achieve excellent results. The designs presented are fairly basic -- that's why I gave the book 4 stars instead of 5 -- but the book provides plenty of inspiration for most purposes. For me, this one is a "keeper" as a reference book.
