I think that the book Vet on Call is a great book. I am interested in a masters degree in Veteranary Medicine. This book gives some great background information about dogs. Also, for dog owners interested in taking good care of their dogs would want to read this book. It has great illustrations and pictures of animals and how to take care of them using home remidies. This book covers many subjects such as allergies, anal sac problemsm, bad breath, bleeding, constipationm coughing, dental problems, diarrhea, drooling, eye problems, ear problms, flatulence, fleas, heartworm, heat stroke, hot spots, poisening, sunburnm urinary track problems, vomiting, aging, bladder control problems, heart desiase, overweight, aggression, seperation anxiety, and much, MUCH MORE!!! I really recomend this book! It is a starting block for those kids who wish to be a vet when they grow up

George IV (1762-1830) was a gifted royal patron whose love of fine objects and taste for the theatrical and the romantic are well documented. In this pioneering study Hugh Roberts focuses on the King's last and greatest commission: the rebuilding and refurnishing of the Private Apartments at Windsor Castle. Drawing on much previously unpublished material, including royal correspondence, original accounts, and detailed inventories, he reconstructs George IV's ambitious program. Always over budget, and never delivered swiftly enough for his liking, the project was still unfurnished when the King died in 1830. Much of the surviving furniture is still in its original setting at Windsor, and it is published here for the first time. Virtually every identified item is illustrated, and there are high-quality reproductions of the richly colored room designs and original drawings requested by the King. The furniture and fittings now form part of the Royal Collection, and they can still be seen in their superb surroundings when the Apartments are opened to the public each year. 486 color illustrations.

Some really good information here. Helpful suggestions with excellent photographs. However, this book becomes cumbersome to use simply because of the lack of a badly needed index. I would also like to see included some cautionary information about plants and pets.
A lovely little book.......2007-04-13
I came across this book at my local Costco. After flipping through it and noting the gorgeous photography I was mildly surprised that it was already selling at a warehouse, seeing that it was just published in late January. I hadn't heard of Jon Carloftis, but apparently his work has been featured in several magazines.
The photography is lovely--if you like the interiors pictured in Martha Stewart Living and Real Simple, you'll probably enjoy this book. Carloftis does a good job of explaining the light requirements of 60 fairly low-maintenance plants, which he helpfully breaks down into categories (low, medium, high) based on those requirements. He includes the ubiquitous golden pothos among his recommendations, but there were also many interesting and gorgeous plants I'd never heard of. I could easily see where I could outfit my whole house in greenery without going outside of his recommendations--and since I'm somewhat new to gardening, I may do just that.
The book is missing an index and a list of resources, so I docked a star.

This book is absolutely wonderful! Paula has created beautiful arrangements in this book. Every page contains yet another arrangement to take your breath away. Not only that, but Paula makes her creations available for all of us to try. The information and history about each flower is also extremely interesting.
Whether you're a lover of flowers or of beautiful photography (of which I am both), this book is definitely worth buying.

British florist Paula Pryke and photographer Kevin Summers have produced a stunning book of floral designs which is well worth owning. Amateur and professional floral designers alike will be charmed by the quality and variety of the photographs as well as the very readable and informative text. This book is a must-have for arrangers interested in new ideas.
The chapters center on specific flowers (e.g. orchids, gerbera daisies, roses) which is a unique approach.
The book would make a lovely coffee table book for those who just enjoy beautiful floral design photography. For those of us who take floral arranging seriously, it is an inspiration.

I have been reading and buying floral design books for years. Paula Pryke is the most creative imaginative artist I have ever seen in this field.
And she shares all of her creative ideas and techniques with the reader. If I pick up this book and start reading it I cannot put it down! I lent both of her books Flowers Flowers! and Flair with Flowers to a friend who said the same thing!
There is a flood of new floral decorating books out there and none of them can come close to these two books!

I have every victoria book ever published and this is the only one I did not like. Where were the flowers. I have a passion for anything with flowers on it, especially roses on fabric.I ordered this as part of an introductory offer to a book club and boy was I disappointed. There were hardly any flowers in the book. If you like the rest of victorias book you will not like this one. It was almost as if it were published by someone else.
Enchanting book filled with floral themes for the home........2002-10-29
This book is beautifully presented and allows the reader to journey through an indoor garden without the maintenance and care of living plants. There's useful information on china patterns that feature floral motifs and large photographs of colorful interiors utilizing various wall coverings.

I highly recommend this book. As usual, the Victoria people present every thing in its best light. The photographs are so beautiful, that you feel drawn in. The charm of the book is insurmountable.
I always thought that any flower petals on tables needed to be cleaned up immediately. Somehow, in Victoria, what looks messy in my house is very chic in theirs. This is the essense of the book. It allows the reader to enter a simpler, more charming time. Most of us who have carted kids around, tried to keep our homes clean and still manage to work a full-time job yearn for this. It reminds us of our mothers or grandmothers and the stories they told us. It allows us to spend a few minutes enjoying a dream.
