Get this for the dog lover in your life.........2002-01-06
I got the first book "Dogs and Their Women" and I was so glad to find another book had been made. The images and stories are really great. If you liked the first book, get this one too. I've got them both and I'm glad I did!
The first book was better.......1999-11-30
While this is a wonderful collection, I prefer the authors' first book, "Dogs and Their Women," which I found to be more moving. Both are great gifts for the dog lover in your life!

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Book Description
Carnival Glass has magic. It captures a unique harmony of color, pattern, and iridescence--a shimmering dance of light, an ever-changing sheen with many moods. It possesses a legacy from the master craftsmen of the past. Carnival Glass has mystery. Looking at its history is like holding a mirror to the world. It reflects all aspects of society and culture--and in those reflections over time lie many mysteries. Carnival is the "Cinderella" of glass that has become a "Rockefeller" of glass. Through over 300 stunning color photographs, almost 200 black and white illustrations (including original, detailed line drawings of Carnival patterns), and much contemporary archive material the reader is presented with a wealth of information surrounding Carnival Glass. Individual chapters provide an explanation of how Carnival was made. Many hundreds of patterns are covered, over 500 of which are explored in detail. There is a fresh look at the major and minor manufacturers of Classic American Carnival and the relationships among them, Carnival Glass from around the world, fascinating and revealing catalog information, and many unique insights into aspects of Carnival previously unexplored. Uniquely, the book provides recognition features for many geometric patterns as well as an analysis of the "Signature Characteristics" of the main Carnival manufacturers in both the United States and the rest of the world.
Customer Reviews:
THE BIBLE OF CARNIVAL GLASS - MORE THAN A REFERENCE BOOK!!.......1999-06-05
After reading and owning most of the reference books on carnival glass, I highly recommend this book to fully understand this era. The Thistlewoods cover the entire industry, focusing not only on the various companies, but also go into depth on colors, patterns, and the various influences of both. MOST IMPORTANT to me, they successfully took me back in time to the carnival glass era. This book sheds new light on the marketing of this glass and really captures the influences of the day that helped decide the various patterns. I now have a much better understanding and a much, much deeper appreciation for the pieces in my collection.
They also cover the little known carnival glass produced overseas during this era. The illustrations are outstanding. Through their identification of this glass, I am now keeping my eye out for this glassware, when in the past I would have just passed it over.
I cannot emphasize enough that this book is an ABSOLUTE MUST for all collectors of glass. It will take you back to the early 1900's and give you an unprecedented appreciation for your glassware. The title really sums up the book. It was a magic time in the glass era and they have unlocked many of the mysteries of the industry. I can now pick up a piece of carnival and feel all the influences that went into the piece from start to finish.
If you love carnival glass, this book will give you a whole new perspective on your hobby!

Revealed in these pages are the secrets behind a wide range of lighting styles. Separate chapters cover topics such as different effects of lighting varieties available-using complementary indoor and outdoor lighting, planning for safety, and much more.
Customer Reviews:
Useless Book.......2006-09-16
This is purely a picture book and the photographs are mostly bad. The whole point of photographing garden lighting is to capture the look of the lighting at twilight. When the photographs are taken too early the lighting has no impact; when taken too late the contrast levels result in hot spots of lighting that do not in any way replicate what is seen by the eye in that particular after-dark setting. The text merely gushes about what you are looking at but seldom provides any useful information about how the effects were achieved. There are a number of books about garden lighting that are better photographed and contain details about how the lighting effects were achieved. I have reviewed all of the books on outdoor lighting that were or are still available. If what is being sought is a well illustrated primer on lighting effects in a garden setting one will not find it here.

More like "Creative Marketing".......2003-09-07
This should have been called The Book of Candles. If you can imagine yourself shoving candles eveywhere the sun don't shine - then you don't need this book. If you find the idea of painting an old watering can and putting a candle in it to be a novel idea - look no further, this is the book for you!
The cover is nice and implies a book rich in color and sophistication. Unfortunatly, it reflects the best this book has to offer.
I hate to be this negative but I feel deceived.
expert opinion.......2001-06-26
Once it is understood that this DIYer is mostly about candles, not about incandescence, the book's charm becomes apparent. Those seeking a tighter focus on low voltage outdoor lighting may be disappointed but the 14 page introduction clearly states the author's intent. The introduction provides a brief, helpful overview of "electrical lighting" and lighting concepts. Since there are currently 13 listings under "landscape lighting", 9 of which are actually about the topic, this review (and the 8 others) is meant to guide the seeker in the search. This book is another in the fine series of Lark publications on DIY crafts projects.... Forty projects are illustrated and detailed ranging from the sublime (Ikebana-like colored glowsticks in a clear glass vase) to the ridiculous (Alice-in-Wonderland teapot tikis). Beautifully photographed and with a crisp, airy layout the text is clear, concise and minimal (plus I found only one typo). A book on candelaria! At last a topic even more specialized than low voltage landscape lighting. Nice job Chris.

Book Description
How to decide when to say "yes" to a credit applicant-without jeopardizing your reputation or your company's bottom line Deciding whether a credit applicant is ultimately creditworthy involves more than just poring over their financial statements-it takes the kind of advice only an experienced credit expert, like Hal Schaeffer, can give. A 28-year veteran of the credit screening process, Schaeffer outlines the nuts-and-bolts of assessing a credit applicant's financial health and ability to make good on a line of credit. In part one's clear, four-part "A, B, C, D" format (A is for Analysis, B is for Building Essential Business Credit Information, C is for Considering All Factors, and D is for Decision), the author examines a prospective borrower from every angle, using formulas, checklists of what to look for, and available outside information sources (from Dun & Bradstreet to the Internet) to get a genuine picture of an applicant's current finances and degree of credit risk. Also outlined are the financial, credit, and business factors that go into a "sound business credit decision" a guideline for consolidating facts to vindicate your decision, as well as a series of twelve chapter-length case studies (contained in part two). Discussion includes:
* Determining the cost and accuracy of financial information
* Isolating information gaps in financial records
* The actual costs (including total/partial loss of sale, insurance fees) and value (including future sales to the customer) to your company if credit is extended
* The exact nature of the sale-large (or small); one-time deal or continuous; the expected profit margin
* The controls your company has over the customer
Complete with twelve chapter-length real-world case studies of problems typically encountered (with detailed solutions), Credit Risk Management offers practical, no-nonsense advice on how to minimize the risks-and maximize the benefits-to you and your company when you finally say "yes" to an applicant.

YOU WILL NOT FIND WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IN THIS BOOK.......2005-07-31
UNFORTUNATLY , THIS BOOK DID NOT PROFIDE ME WITH TECNICAL TOOLES TO ANALYSE FINANCIAL STATMENT , THE CASE STUDIES HAS ONLY FEW THINGS TO TEL , I THINK IT IS A GENERAL BOOK IN CREDIT MANAGEMENT .
A Review of Credit Risk Management.......2000-04-19
The book is not comprehensive in going through the mechanics of actual credit analysis. It does not fully detail how a balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement come together to give a picture of the customer.
The book also neglects the first crucial part of credit analysis, that is, spreading statements. It does not mention how financial statements, whether they be accountant's report, company prepared, tax returns, etc., need to be altered before any analysis takes place.
Also, the book does not show the parts of cash flow analysis that need further investigation, such as lease expense. Information such as that on tax returns, personal financial statements, personal credit reports, corporate financial statements, etc. come together to accurately state a customer's position is also not detailed.
The book has good case studies, but it lacks the fundamentals of credit analysis.

Good Guidance for a divorce settlement.......2001-12-30
I found this book very helpful in understanding the issues and 'gotchas' to the financial aspects of a divorce settlement. I followed much of the advice given and it really helped me create a fair settlement through a difficult and messy divorce. I'm three years post divorce now and still feel very positive about the results.

National institutions involved in environmental policy planning respond more to the accommodation of special interests, whether vested, parochial, or societal, than to the realities of technological advances. This situation, combined with the added problem of widespread scientific illiteracy, makes the formulation of effective environmental policy a very difficult task to accomplish. Our politico-legal system and relationships among science, scientists, and society are explored here with specific attention to issues arising from pharmaceutical innovation and biotechnology. The identification of the resultant dilemmas reveal disenfranchisement and point to possible means of reform. Howell focuses on the need for multilateral responsibility for communication to improve the accommodation of science in policy. A truly multidisciplinary study, this book is for environmental planners as well as the interested public.
