Book Description
Clippety clap clippety clap
A is for Amos and I'm on his back
B for the bumpety bridge we cross
C for the clippety clop of his trot . . .
So begins an infectious rhythmic chant that takes a girl on an imaginary adventure on a wonderful horse. The countryside, the animals they see along the way, and a dramatic storm all figure in a story that takes its lead from the progression of the alphabet. Energetic watercolor illustrations adroitly capture the excitement of the ride, one readers will want to take again and again.
Customer Reviews:
romping, lyrical, delightful and will be much-loved!.......2000-04-04
This rhyming, rollicking story is delightful and reminds me of more old-fashioned stories from my youth. It is simple and straight-forward, yet absolutely skilled in its use of capital letters to emphasize the letters of the alphabet and how they are used within the context of a memorable story of a girl riding a horse across the countryside. A is for Amos will definitely be a hit with your preschoolers and learning to read children. I have ordered several copies for our library in Oklahoma! Bravo!

Book Description
Category: HolidayOne Christmas morning, a boy finds a rocking horse under his tree. When he climbs on his back, they ride off on the most wondrous adventures--jousting with knights and capturing outlaws. But as the years go by & the boy outgrows his favorite childhood friend, the rocking horse is stowed in the attic with other old toys. Faithfully the rocking horse waits, hoping his boy will return. Years later, on another Christmas, another little boy (whose father had ridden the rocking horse) discovers the enchanted horse, and off they ride on adventures beyond imagination.
Customer Reviews:
Beautiful Story, Beautiful Illustrations.......2005-12-03
I would recommend this book to a person who enjoyed the book "The Polar Express." "Rocking Horse Christmas" is a very poignant story about a rocking horse loved by a boy but that is then forgotten. Mixed in is a story of growing up and friendship that will pull at the heartstrings of an adult with children.
Suitable for a second-grade reader but a story that will be cherished by any age. Highly recommended.
good but not all that and a bag of chips.......2002-12-19
I think this book is good, But it's not all that and a bag of chips.I mean its 1:45 and i have to read a book and only have 15 min. to read this book is the grate one to read its cute and short of i like it i am shore you would too.
More Than Another Christmas Story.......2000-07-29
A small boy finds Shadow, a rocking horse, under the Christmas Tree. In his imagination, the two ride to the West, joust, race Seattle Slew in the Kentucky Derby, and go on safari. But then the inevitable happens: the boy starts to grow up, as boys always have and always will (it's at this point I have a hard time reading this to my five year old without pretending there's something in my eye). Shadow ends up in the attic. Years pass.
And then the boy's own little boy finds Shadow (as I read this part to my son, there's more pretending that I have something in my eye). Shadow's spirit returns, and they "flew through the sky all Christmas Eve and didn't come home until dawn."
The illustrations of this book are some of the best I've ever seen; the facts of growing up are utterly convincing. This book is delightful and devastating. And there's no need to wait for Christmas to read it: we're Jewish, and we read it all year round.
A Treasure Is Found!.......1997-11-06
I am a Christmas Freak, I will completely admit. However, I LOVED this story. As I read it, I could almost see exactly where I was being taken as a reader. I knew I was about to be pulled in, but I loved every moment of it! The story, quite simply, is one which could be said of any child's favorite Christmas toy. Eventually, that toy is replaced by something -- be it another toy or simply the heartbreak of every child's growing up. Reminiscent of Silverstein's _The Giving Tree,_ the rocking horse keeps vigil, waiting for the little boy who used to have great adventures with him everyday. A happy ending rewards readers who know in their hearts that it is coming (but keep a tissue handy!). A beautifully illustrated book, _Rocking Horse Christmas_ is a holiday treasure to add to any collection!

Customer Reviews:
Superb plans; needs better binding.......2006-12-05
I also built the rocking horse on the cover (a couple of times) and some of the other projects, including a very cool wobbly fish. The review by "jeff_mcfarland" is right on the money. I can't imagine building it with a jigsaw, but I suppose it's possible.
In any case, the design of some of these projects is absolutely superb. It's the most handsome rocking horse I've ever seen, and both my son and my neice love it to death -- well worth the cost of the entire book. (The plans for this horse are nearly $20 if purchased separately!) The plans are quite easy to follow, but as Jeff mentioned, there are some holes in the descriptions.
My binding broke, too, also after moderate user in the shop. This is the ONLY reason I'd give it 4 instead of 5 stars. I'll probably end up taking it down to the office supply store and having it rebound (spiral bound). The pages are pretty high quality and durable, so this should work out just fine.
Again, hats off to the designer -- it's well thought out. For example, the back of the head and neck of the horse on the cover is curved in such a way that you can put the head pattern twice on the same board, back to back (one upside down) so that these curves nearly meet. (The two head cut-outs share the curve.) This saves a good deal of wood. Similarly, the leg and tail patterns can be overlapped to save wood. I ended up having a lot of extra wood when I was finished the first time!
This book is a bargain!
I built the rocking horse on the front cover.......2003-05-16
I built the rocking horse on the front cover of this book. It turned out pretty well. The drawings in the book are fairly easy to follow. However, the written instructions have some holes in the explanation. In addition, the instructions imply that stationary power tools are recommended for this project, but hand-held tools would work as well. I seriously doubt that this horse could be built properly using only a hand-held jigsaw and electric drill. The precision required to do this project *right* really call for bigger tools. One other gripe - after moderate use in the workshop, the binding on this book started to come loose, and a couple of pages came out.
But overall, I was pleased with the project and hope to build some more toys using the plans in this book. It was worth the price just for the horse plans
Any One Of The Projects Is Worth The Price Of This Book!.......2000-04-20
I made 2 of the Bunk Beds with the desk option. They turned out great. There were a few errors in the shopping list, so double check the list against the plans or you may have to make a second trip. I also made several modification to better fit our needs. The illustrations were exellent and don't be afraid to make changes. If you only use one project in this book, it is still worth buying.

Book Description
It's time for the annual Willow Creek Junior High spring dance. Since the dance is open to everyone, the Saddle Club will be there and so will Stevie's boyfriend, Phil. Unfortunately, this also means that Veronica diAngelo will be there. The Saddle Club is determined not to let Veronica ruin their fun. But Veronica has her own plans. She arranges for the Saddle Club to be stuck at Pine Hollow the night of the dance--taking care of her horse, Danny.
But when the Saddle Club decides to go to the dance after all, Veronica is the one in for a surprise. They bring Danny with them, proving once and for all that he's a horse with a rock-and-roll soul.
Customer Reviews:
Amazing!!!.......1999-06-28
Stevie is up to her jokes. Lisa's and Carole's school is having a dance. Everything should be normal. Then the stable snob decides to get Revenge. She sticks the Saddle Club up at Pine Hollow for the night caring for her horse while she is at the dance. Then Judy shows up with a horse vaccum cleans up Danny.the girls take danny to the dance with them. Rock and Roll will never be the same!!
This horse really rocks!.......1999-05-25
I've read this book and think it's great! I have two friends and we're just like the Saddle Club. I can't wait till they read it! I loved their plan to take Veronica Di Angelo's horse to the dance. It was a fun and sneaky way to get back at her. Veronica is such a jerk. But her horse is beautiful and talented. He has great taste for music! Please read this book.(And of course a rock and roll soul!) More great books to read are HORSE CARE #76 and HORSE WHISPERS. Please continue writing Ms. Bryant so I can continue reading.
One of the best!.......1998-08-07
I buy these books for the public library at home. I felt that this one was a bit different from the rest It's totally unlike Max to believe that the members of the Saddle Club would be responsible for anything that would endanger the horses in his stable. The best part is that while the girls manage to get back at spoiled brat Veronica D'Angelo, this time Stevie, Lisa and Carole have help in the form of veterinarian Judy Barker. Plus, Veronica's horse "Danny" was the life of the party they all attended. Couldn't have ended better.
Veronica gets what she deserves!!!.......1998-08-02
I like this book because the Saddle Club gets even with Veronica....always fun to read about...and they have fun at a dance as well!

Great Book.......2002-01-25
I purchased this book for my father for a gift and he absolutely loves it. He sat down immediately and started to read the book and plan out how he was going to make his first rocking horse. The book is filled with so many pictures and great illustration. If you are interested in learning how to make the rocking horses, this is the book to buy. My dad loves it and I can't wait to see his finished product!

Vicki Blizzard has become a fiber-aholic! Everywhere she go, she collects little bits and pieces of yarn and string to use in her paper crafts. Nothing is to small—even a two-inch piece of plain string is still long enough to hold a few beads and attach to the front of a card. She now has bags filled with little snippets of fashion yarns, organdy ribbons, metallic braids and, of course, string.
