Considering a ball python? Already have one? Don't waste your time buying all those other 40 page throw away books, you can get all the info from those books straight off the web. This book is a text book. It's huge, it's got tons of pics, and it is well worth every cent. Everything you need to know is here. Buy it now. Do a little hunting around and you can also get an autographed version.
The Best of the Best-truly comprehensive.......2006-01-01
This is hands down the best guide on ball pythons in existence. I have recently built up a small crew of soon to be breeders (hets for piebald, hets for albino and a lemon pastel plus some normal females) and find the most essential aspect of husbandry is to be an informed "parent". I have purchased several books and this book is by far the most well rounded. The pictures are amazing, the text is straightforward, and the topics are diverse. The author includes a wonderful section on different morphs as well as pictures to match. This is essential for any keeper of ball pythons whether you have only 1 or 1000 snakes its definitely a must have!! You will need few books in addition to this one if you are a ball python breeder. Thankyou Kevin for writing such a fantastic book-well worth the money!!!

I have owned snakes but just bought my first ball python. I picked up this book at the pet store and read it cover to cover--a couple of times over. While it offers some good information to start, it leaves out so much. It leaves out common sense info that the new ball python owner will search high and low for. Such as: what do those rotten little mites REALLY look like, what are some real ways to REALLY get rid of them, what humidity level to really strive for--in actual numbers, when the first shed will occur, the fact that they are supposed to have "wrinkled corneas" (he didn't fail to shed his eyeball), how to gauge when your baby ball is ready to move from fuzzies to hoppers to adults, etc. After doing a lot of day-to-day research to supplement this average book, we found a FABULOUS vet who has personally owned and cared for hundreds upon hundreds of ball pythons. (If you live in/near Murrieta, CA, email me for her contact info.) I am really looking for a new book that will give me more confidence and comfort that I am caring for my sweet snake much more properly. And thank goodness for my vet!!

I read both books. Whenever I encounter problems , I refer to the ball python manual. Many pictures posted are Boa constrictors. All the informations in this book can be found in web sites.

This is a good book to own but should not be the first in your collection. It has excellent photos and can be very good for a reference but I find some of the information in it is inaccurate compared to other sources of information, which is why I don't think it should be your first Ball Python book.
Must Have Library for Ball Python Owners.......2000-02-03
The Guide to Owning a Ball Python and The Ball Python Manual form the cornerstones for the Ball Python Owner's Library. Both are available here at a great price. The hi-res pictures and information found in this book, combined with the information in the Ball Python Manual are informative and everything you need to know about your Ball or Regal or Royal Python.

There's nothing new for advanced keepers here, but for those starting out, it's a cheap way to get basic care information. And it's an albino BALL python on the cover, not a Burmese as stated by another reviewer.

I can't see trusting the comments of a book that Says ball Pythons when its cover has a picture of an Albino Bermese Python. These are diferent snakes and many difference in the care of em just a thought my 2 cents worth. havent bought it but review is forcing me to rate it i will go middle ground for fairness

I enjoyed this book very much, especially all the information on breeding and morphs. If I had this book before, my poor python wouldn't have gotten burned on the heat source in his enclosure.

i bought this book because it was cheap and I needed information before bought my python to see if it was the species for me. This book tells you to do things every experienced reptile keeper has told me not to. I have had my ball python for three years and this book has never come in handy, dont bother with it, get yourself a real handbook. Its really just a skimpy overview of anything to do with bp's.

A well written book from the European perspective on the "Royal Python". My absolute favorite part of the book was the diet studies from the wild, showing the actual diversity of prey that the Ball Python was able to take. It is hard to argue with the stomach contents of a sufficient sample size! A pleasure to read.

This is by far one of the loveliest, most inspirational garden books I've ever read. Stephen's vision of how to create sanctuary within the garden is masterful. The photos and text are both well chosen to evoke a peaceful calm and show the reader how such a feeling can translate from paper to soil. I keep my copy close at hand whether I'm looking for ideas in designing gardens for clients, or just want to soothe my soul. A definite must.
