There must be better books out there.......2007-07-09
I have seen amazing results from having a professional equine massage therapist work on my horse and hoped this book could teach me to give my horse massages that would supplement the professional ones. I was very disappointed.
The illustrations fall short of clarifying the text and the text is quite vague. The writing style is almost too casual and the author's use of British terms could be confusing to some. The book is very short and could have been shortened further if most of the pages weren't filled with white space and pictures of the author grinning like an idiot in poses that do not explain what she's doing.
The techniques the author describes makes one think that just currying a horse will sufice as a thorough massage. I imagine there are better books on how to give a sports massage to a horse. Hopefully I will come across one soon.

Great book - very informative.......2005-05-01
I read this book over 15 years ago. I wanted to see if I could get another copy as mine was stolen (it was so good). Helped me a lot with horses. As I heard that Jack Meagher died last week, I thought I would look for it. I think I only paid $15 for my paperback copy years ago and would not suggest anyone pay $70 for this book but it was very good. The price is so high I think because of recent demand due to the author's death. I will keep looking rather than purchase a copy here.

I was disappointed with this book because it is too acedemic. It covers a lot of theory but is not very practical with only a few diagrams. While a professional massage or physical therapist would enjoy reading it, a horse owner wanting easy to read instructions with diagrams, would be disappointed. I would borrow it from a library, but it is not worth buying.
A little more technical than I had planned for.......2006-08-07
This book is extremely detailed in anatomy. Although I like it, it's a little more detailed and technical than I had in mind for massage and stretching. It's almost like a mini text book. I found it a little on the heavy side for reading. I think this book is only for the most serious of students. It is chock full of technical descriptions, diagrams and some good black and white photos. I found myself skipping around trying to find something I might want to try on my horse but this book really isn't good for that. It really is more of a manual for the student of equine massage and physical therapy.

Technical jargon galore in the first few chapters but after that the rest is easier for us non-vets to understand.
Simple and Easy to Understand.......2000-04-16
This book on equine massage therapy was very clear and easy to understand. It pinpointed specific places to do specific exercises, and gave clear pictures of the anatomy you were dealing with. How to do the exercises, and how to improve your work with the horse in general, was very well explained, and made sense for someone who is not an expert.

Ths was the first book we bought about Occupied Japan. We were bran new collectors and found that we learned a great deal from this book. Now that we have been collected for some time we still use this as refernce for pricing items. The only prolbem I find with this book is that evertime I find an item I want to find a price for there is no price indicated in the price guide. Very frustrating. I would still recommend any collector owning this book it gives alot of very good information and anyone can learn alot from this. We do like it and would suggest every MIOJ collector own this book.

We received this book as a gift and love it. It is smallenough to take along with us and it has alot of pieces that are not inany of the other books we do have. The most fantastic thing about itis the updated prices. In some pieces we own they have increased in price by ( ) from the older books we own. I would highly recommend this book to any collecter of MIOJ and wish we had more updted books we really need them. This is a winner. END

This is the second book in a series of five by Gene Florence. This is very informative with each piece having a value placed on it. I have used mine so much it is getting worn out It has updated values from 1998 and I would highly recommend this to any serious collector of Occupied Japan. It is an outstanding piece of reference material.

I cannot say enough good things about any of these reference books. My husband and I have learned so much from this material. I will not even purchase a piece until I find it in one of Gene's books. The pictures are beautiful and each piece has an updated value from 1999. What more could and OJ collector want. I would recommend this to anyone who is a serious collector of Occupied Japan. The investment for the book is worth it a thousand times over.

These are indeed sweet LITTLE quilts.......2006-08-12
Here are 14 designs for SMALL quilts, the biggest size being 25" by 30". However, they are mighty cute little quilts! The layout of the book is delightful, with 30's reproduction fabrics as the "background" to each double-page spread. Some of the designs are original, such as "Barnyard" and "Housing Tract #1," but there are also traditional designs such as Bear's Paw, Dresden Plate, Log Cabin, Snail's Trail, Jacob's Ladder, Sailboats, Apple Core, and an adorable Sunbonnet Sue that I can't wait to make! There isn't too much to the general directions, so beginner quilters will need to go to a more comprehensive reference for better explanation of quilting skills, but otherwise this book is truly a "sweet little" one with quilting designs that will indeed "brighten your day," whether you decide to actually make one of the designs or just enjoy looking at them between the pages of this slim volume.
