I have no doubt that it's a wonderful dictionary, and the pleasure of working with CD-ROM (be it a pronouncing dictionary or any other kind) it unquestionable. What I can't understand is why the copy I've purchased from Amazon recently won't get installed on my pc - all because the web page that opens when I'm trying to install the dictionary simply has no boxes for typing in the necessary information. Has the right page moved, I wonder? Can anyone help me (at least with the link to the page where I'm supposed to type in and send my data)?

This Dictionary fully met my demands.......2006-11-03

I was sort of anxious about committing myself to this purchase. It turned to be just what it has promised - good pronunciation dictionary with nicely made CD. I enjoy using CD pronunciation tool. One can see variants of the pronunciation listed there and here record of the word. Occasionally I find myself doubtful about the pronunciation that was selected for recording in terms of if it is really most popular or "more standard" than others. But by all means this is a helpful tool for those (like me) studying English and vesting particular even professional interest in actual pronunciation. Little additional description as to the origins of the particular version of pronunciation or to the geographic area of it can be found, though.

Move over William Golding.......2007-10-08

So you've just graduated from high school, it's the 70's, you're on your own, and life is about first love, rock and roll, and seeing life in a youthfully fresh and quirky way. This great first novel mixes sensitive love and senseless tragedy, passion for music and mindless stupidity. The loss-of-innocence plot blends the carefreeness of youth with an eerily Lord of the Flies like ending.

Well, if you ask me, when you dont want a book to ever end and you grow fond of all its characters, even the 'bad guys',THAT's definitely a pretty darn good book you're holding in your hands, and THAT's what The English Setter Dance is to me: a good, compelling book like I have not read in ages. So my big thanks go to the author. This book was a gift and not because I was given a copy as a present (indeed I bought it myself) but a gift for my spirits. Sure, you've got to love rock music (like I do) and dogs (I'm even "owned by" an English Setter myself) but you'll best enjoy reading it if you are wont to endlessly wonder about life and its purpose.

This book made me enjoy reading again. I have always loved reading until about high school. After picking up this book from Mr. Golembeski I was astonished. It really made me think to say the least. Mr. Golembeski is a brilliant man and he has written my favorite book. I'd just like to thank you for your great class and book Mr. G. I think of Achilles now before taking action in aggrivating circumstances now.. lol

I personally thought the book was amazing. I barely read books, and when i do i don't usually read it for a long amount of time. But with this book i couldn't put it down. It grabs your attention and doesn't let it go until you reach the end. I was in the library at school and the bell rang and i still had 30 pages left. I stayed later after school to finish reading it. Its truely an amazing book

What about the English Setters?.......2000-06-20

On the cover of the book, "English Setters", there issmall yellow-enclosed print stating: "#1 Best Selling EnglishSetter Book". So, I bought the book thinking there must be a good reason for its best-selling status.

The book has 192 pages. Only 32 pages talk specifically about English Setters. And, of those pages many are full color glossy photos of adorable English Setters that cover entire pages. Ten of the first 32 pages are strictly photos with captions. So, what about the English Setters?

If you want beautiful pictures of English Setters, then this book is for you! But, why not get a calendar? There are just as many lovely pictures in a calendar.

The rest of the book is typical dog care mumbo-jumbo. How to groom dogs, feed dogs, crate-train dogs, housebreak your puppy, breed dogs...but nothing specific about English Setters. It seems as if two books have been combined together to take up space. Ridiculous.

I learned nothing new about English Setters in this book. I learned more from reading an article in "Dog World" about English Setters.

I was frustrated with this book and I want people to know it. END

I bought this as a gift and she loved it. She found one picture that looked like the english setter she had lost. Great pictures! It's rare to find a calendar like this, since the breed is not one of the most popular.

If you are a collector, amateur or serious then this book is for you. It is one of the best around simply because it is easy to use, concise, colourful and downright practical. Okay, so it doesn't list every collectable in the world but no one book will do that. What this book will do for you is give you an idea of the cost of many popular collectibles as well as one offs that occasionally come on to the market. This is also a fun book just to browse through to see what is "in" and what is "not in" in the heady world of antiques-to-be and antiques that are already established. A good all round book on a hard to write about subject. As an added bonus it comes out each year so the suject is constantly being updated.

Concise, but useful.......2007-06-09

This is a relatively small book at about 150 pages, but it manages to pack in a lot of information very concisely. It's beautifully illustrated with color photographs and drawings.

The first 2/3 of the book includes general herb gardening background and use of herbs tips: how to choose plants, pick the location, general design principles, planting instructions (including some nice tips on extending the growing season), propagation, harvesting, drying, pests and diseases, etc.

It also includes suggestions for common culinary uses, such as salads, herbal vinegars, flavored oils, teas, jellies, honeys, and breads. These are not an extensive set of recipes, but more like master recipes with some suggestions for how you can mix them up with variations.

The book also includes suggestions and recipes for health and beauty products (again, not an extensive collection). This section includes potpourri, sachets, bouquets, dried arrangements and insect repellents.

The last 1/3 of the book has individual pages on about 50 different herbs. These individual pages tell you a description, how to grow, harvesting instructions, suggested uses, tips, cultivars, and also includes a quick key on the level of care required (using a 4 glove rating system), if it attracts beneficial insects, whether or not it is ornamental, whether or not it can be grown in a container, how much yield you can expect to get and how easy it is to grow.

The back of the book contains a few pages of resources for laboratories, vendors, herb associations and other books or literary resources.

There are lots of charts and sidebars and overall I found this book to be very useful and easy to access. It doesn't have the level of information needed to make this anything other than a quick reference book though.

in love with herbs.......2007-01-25

I adore this book! Wow! It has all the things I wanted!
- it's organic
- it very thorougly covers many herbs in different formats, so you know everything from what bugs they attract or repel, how tall they grow, and what zone they can be grown in
- common uses for them: I discovered many herbs I thought were inedible plants that are indeed herbs
- easy to use tables

I wasn't too hip on all the cosmetic and craft uses - I'd rather eat them, but they're short and may come in handy. I know the rest of the book sure will!

This is a great book for a beginning herb gardener. The first half of the book is a general overview of gardening techniques, designs, and uses for herbs. The second half gives specific information on growing and using many herbs. This has been extraordinarily helpful to me as background and reference for me.

However, it is pretty basic and only covers the most commonly used herbs, so I'm not sure that advanced herb gardeners would get much out of this.

A complete herbal reference book!.......2006-06-26

I really like this book. It is very easy to follow and has a little bit of everything you need to know packed into the book. I bought it for the outside herb garden design, but I changed my mind. I am trying a kitchen garden, growing the herbs inside in containers. If you are new to herb gardening, this is the perfect book. And in my opinion, it is the only book you will need. I want to use the fragrant herbs for sachet crafts and dry some herbs for cooking. These will be terrific gifts for my DIL because she buys and uses a lot of herbs for cooking and will never have the time to grown them. You will never put this book away. There are so many possibilities of what to do with herbs.
